Tara, nice response :) I would not say you gift wrapped a dirty bomb, I am not that looney, but I will say (and I believe it is hard to argue with) that majority of media focuses on the negative, rather then the positive, after all blood sells.

As to the approval ratings, neither side doing a job worth a damn, liberal or conservative, they have all sold out to special interest, so you will not see me toe the line defending either side. I did just run the numbers from pollingplace.com and the aggregate of the june numbers are 25.43% for congress and 30.15 for the POTUS, so failing grades all around.

The point of my original post was to get people to think and realize that sometimes it may be better to stop the pendelum back in the midlle, rather than let it swing to far either way (as has happened with GWB and Pelosi)

Do I like us being at war, hell no, but if we do just up and leave it will be a whole hell of a lot worse, here and there, after we leave.

A fact that I think is worth mentioning is that Turkey has 140k troops stationed at the border for their little skirmish, hell we only have 155k TOTAL in all of Iraq, I think that is a big issue with why this war is draggin on for so damn long.

I do appreciate the polite reply, I see a lot of very vitriolic (sp?) comments here, and I am glad that I wasn't slammed to bad.

And Capn, I do also remember that line from somewhere :)

the way I also understand it is as follows (I did not write this I stole it :) )

The "peacemakers" are those who not only live in peace with others but moreover do their best to preserve peace and friendship among mankind and between God and man, and to restore it when it has been disturbed.

SO following that we are blessed as we have stuck our ass in a wringer trying to preserve peace through superior firepower with factions in Iraq.

There are a number of ways to look at it, but thsi is one side that I think a lot fo folks have not stopped to think about

Have an awesome day :)

Tara!!!

We missed you. Aloha!

Great post.

And thanks for exposing to the light of day the latest virus e-mail the Bush dead-enders are sending around.

Christian--Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the 'children of God.'

Seems like I remember reading that somewhere . . .

Haha, Christian, my wingnutty brother-in-law (God bless him) sent me that same email. Here's the reply I sent him:

"Hee, I didn't buy a NY Times today, but I did visit their website with my morning coffee and earned them about 16 cents of revenue with popup ads. Guess I just gift wrapped a dirty bomb for some Jihadist, eh?

When your approval rating is at 28%, Occam's Razor would say that the probable explanation is that you're doing something wrong and people are responding to the effects of your bad decisions, rather than "Americans don't know what's REALLY happening and the liberal media is LYING to all of us and it's a giant conspiracy!".

I did read about his energy-efficient house in Crawford, contrasted by Al Gore's insane power-sucking mansion. I'm very impressed by and grateful for his attempts to be eco-friendly. But for everything else, we'll have to agree to disagree :)"

Except now I have to change the 28% percent to whatever it is now...26??

People here can't get it through their thick skulls..

Cindy Sheehan has denounced the Democratic party and resigned from it.

Why? SImply because it is a pro-war, big-business party and has shown itself to be so by its votes and candidates and its attempts continuously to work in a 'bi-partison' fashion instead of an opposition party.

Sure, the media plays up the Dems as 'anti-war' and for 'withdrawal' of the troops, just as the Dems themselves do, but their actual proposals and statements behind the rhetoric point to a concensus policy of a drawdown in Iraq to reinforced bases in order to protect US interests in Iraq by military means for the long haul.

That is the reality of the stance of both of these parties, which differ imperceptibly when it comes to the oil war. Sure, the rhetoric of each party is big but their programs are, in reality, indistinguishable.

But if you live on sound-bites from media hacks and propagandists in both parties, you think there is a big, big difference.

Sheehan and millions of others realize the war is a BI-PARTISON crime.

Most here are living in propaganda land if they believe there is a hair's difference in Iraq policy in the coming bi-partison concensus on redeployment for an occupation of the country that will go on indefinately in bi-partison fashion, or the collapse of either the rotten system or the US economy.

So spread your cheeks - its going to be a long haul.

I, for one, hope Sheehan challenges the poser Palosi and the Dems - that will really stirs things up!

If she were still out there going after Republicans she would be the golden child once more.

I did not wirte this but it was sent to me and I thought it appropriate to post here, now if would only happen

The speech George W. Bush SHOULD give:

Normally, I start these things out by saying "My Fellow Americans." Not doing it this time. If the polls are any indication, I don't know who more than half of you are anymore. I do know something terrible has happened, and that you're really not fellow Americans any longer.

I'll cut right to the chase here: I quit. Now before anyonegets all in a lather about me quitting to avoid impeachment,or to avoid prosecution or something, let me assure you: there's been no breaking of laws or impeachable offensesin this office.

The reason I'm quitting is simple. I'm fed up with you people.

I'm fed up because you have no understanding of what'sreally going on in the world. Or of what's going on in thisonce-great nation of ours. And the majority of you aretoo damned lazy to do your homework and figure it out.

Let's start local. You've been sold a bill of goods bypoliticians and the news media. Polls show that themajority of you think the economy is in the tank. And that's despite record numbers of homeownersincluding record numbers of MINORITY homeowners. And while we're mentioning minorities, I'll point out thatminority business ownership is at an all-time high. Our unemployment rate is as low as it ever was during theClinton Administration. I've mentioned all those thingsbefore, but it doesn't seem to have sunk in.

Despite the shock to our economy of 9/11, the stockmarket has rebounded to record levels and moreAmericans than ever are participating in these markets. Meanwhile, all you can do is whine about gas prices, and most of you are too damn stupid to realize thatgas prices are high because there's increased demandin other parts of the world, and because a small handfulof noisy idiots are more worried about polar bears and beachfront property than your economic security.

We face real threats in the world. Don't give me thisblood for oil" thing. If I was trading blood for oil I would've already seized Iraq's oil fields and let the rest of thecountry go to hell. And don't give me this 'Bush Lied -People Died' crap either. If I was the liar you moronstake me for, I could've easily had chemical weaponsplanted in Iraq so they could be 'discovered.' Instead,I owned up to the fact that the intelligence was faulty.Let me remind you that the rest of the world thoughtSaddam had the goods, same as me. Let me alsoremind you that regime change in Iraq was officialUS policy before I came into office. Some guynamed 'Clinton' established that policy. Bet youdidn't know that, did you?

You idiots need to understand that we face a unique enemy. Back during the cold war, there were two major competing political and economic models squaring off. We won that war, but we did so because fundamentally, the Communists wanted to survive, just as we do. We were simply able to outspend and out-tech them.

That's not the case this time. The soldiers of our newenemy don't care if they survive. In fact, they want todie. That'd be fine, as long as they weren't alsocommitted to taking as many of you with them as theycan. But they are. They want to kill you. And the bastardsare all over the globe.

You should be grateful that they haven't gotten any moreof us here in the United States since September 11.But you're not. That's because you've got no idea howhard a small number of intelligence, military, lawenforcement and homeland security people have workedto make sure of that. When this whole mess started, Iwarned you that this would be a long and difficult fight.I'm disappointed how many of you people think a longand difficult fight amounts to a single season of 'Survivor'. Instead, you've grown impatient. You're incapable ofseeing things through the long lens of history, the wayour enemies do. You think that wars should last a fewmonths, a few years, tops.

Making matters worse, you actively support those whohelp the enemy. Every time you buy the New York Times, every time you send a donation to a cut-and-run Democrat's political campaign, well, dammit, you might just as well Fedex a grenade launcher to a Jihadist. It amounts to the same thing.

In this day and age, it's easy enough to find the truth. It's all over the Internet. It just isn't on the pages of the New York Times or on NBC News. But even if it were, I doubt you'd be any smarter. Most of you would rather watch AmericanIdol.

I could say more about your expectations that the government will always be there to bail you out, even if you're too stupid to leave a city that's below sea level and has a hurricane approaching. I could say more about your insane belief that government, not your own wallet, is where the money comes from. But I've come to the conclusion that were I to do so, it would sail right over your heads.

So I quit. I'm going back to Crawford. I've got an energy-efficient house down there (Al Gore could only dream)and the capability to be fully self-sufficient. No one everheard of Crawford before I got elected, and as soon asI'm done here pretty much no one will ever hear of it again. Maybe I'll be lucky enough to die of old age before the last pillars of America fall.

Oh, and by the way, Cheney's quitting too. That meansPelosi is your new President. You asked for it. Watchwhat she does carefully, because I still have a glimmerof hope that there're just enough of you remaining whoare smart enough to turn this thing around in 2008.

Normally, I start these things out by saying “My Fellow Americans.” Not doing it this time. If the polls are any indication, I don’t know who more than half of you are anymore. I do know something terrible has happened, and that you’re really not fellow Americans any longer.

I’ll cut right to the chase here: I quit. Now before anyonegets all in a lather about me quitting to avoid impeachment,or to avoid prosecution or something, let me assure you: there’s been no breaking of laws or impeachable offensesin this office.

The reason I’m quitting is simple. I’m fed up with you people.

I’m fed up because you have no understanding of what’sreally going on in the world. Or of what’s going on in thisonce-great nation of ours. And the majority of you aretoo damned lazy to do your homework and figure it out.

Let’s start local. You’ve been sold a bill of goods bypoliticians and the news media. Polls show that themajority of you think the economy is in the tank. And that’s despite record numbers of homeownersincluding record numbers of MINORITY homeowners. And while we’re mentioning minorities, I’ll point out thatminority business ownership is at an all-time high. Our unemployment rate is as low as it ever was during theClinton Administration. I’ve mentioned all those thingsbefore, but it doesn’t seem to have sunk in.

Despite the shock to our economy of 9/11, the stockmarket has rebounded to record levels and moreAmericans than ever are participating in these markets. Meanwhile, all you can do is whine about gas prices, and most of you are too damn stupid to realize thatgas prices are high because there’s increased demandin other parts of the world, and because a small handfulof noisy idiots are more worried about polar bears and beachfront property than your economic security.

We face real threats in the world. Don’t give me thisblood for oil” thing. If I was trading blood for oil I would’ve already seized Iraq’s oil fields and let the rest of thecountry go to hell. And don’t give me this ‘Bush Lied -People Died’ crap either. If I was the liar you moronstake me for, I could’ve easily had chemical weaponsplanted in Iraq so they could be ‘discovered.’ Instead,I owned up to the fact that the intelligence was faulty.Let me remind you that the rest of the world thoughtSaddam had the goods, same as me. Let me alsoremind you that regime change in Iraq was officialUS policy before I came into office. Some guynamed ‘Clinton’ established that policy. Bet youdidn’t know that, did you?

You idiots need to understand that we face a unique enemy. Back during the cold war, there were two major competing political and economic models squaring off. We won that war, but we did so because fundamentally, the Communists wanted to survive, just as we do. We were simply able to outspend and out-tech them.

That’s not the case this time. The soldiers of our newenemy don’t care if they survive. In fact, they want todie. That’d be fine, as long as they weren’t alsocommitted to taking as many of you with them as theycan. But they are. They want to kill you. And the bastardsare all over the globe.

You should be grateful that they haven’t gotten any moreof us here in the United States since September 11.But you’re not. That’s because you’ve got no idea howhard a small number of intelligence, military, lawenforcement and homeland security people have workedto make sure of that. When this whole mess started, Iwarned you that this would be a long and difficult fight.I’m disappointed how many of you people think a longand difficult fight amounts to a single season of ‘Survivor’. Instead, you’ve grown impatient. You’re incapable ofseeing things through the long lens of history, the wayour enemies do. You think that wars should last a fewmonths, a few years, tops.

Making matters worse, you actively support those whohelp the enemy. Every time you buy the New York Times, every time you send a donation to a cut-and-run Democrat’s political campaign, well, dammit, you might just as well Fedex a grenade launcher to a Jihadist. It amounts to the same thing.

In this day and age, it’s easy enough to find the truth. It’s all over the Internet. It just isn’t on the pages of the New York Times or on NBC News. But even if it were, I doubt you’d be any smarter. Most of you would rather watch AmericanIdol.

I could say more about your expectations that the government will always be there to bail you out, even if you’re too stupid to leave a city that’s below sea level and has a hurricane approaching. I could say more about your insane belief that government, not your own wallet, is where the money comes from. But I’ve come to the conclusion that were I to do so, it would sail right over your heads.

So I quit. I’m going back to Crawford. I’ve got an energy-efficient house down there (Al Gore could only dream)and the capability to be fully self-sufficient. No one everheard of Crawford before I got elected, and as soon asI’m done here pretty much no one will ever hear of it again. Maybe I’ll be lucky enough to die of old age before the last pillars of America fall.

Oh, and by the way, Cheney’s quitting too. That meansPelosi is your new President. You asked for it. Watchwhat she does carefully, because I still have a glimmerof hope that there’re just enough of you remaining whoare smart enough to turn this thing around in 2008.

Cindy Sheehan is a sad, miserable human being and she seeks that everyone be miserable like unto herself.

She has allowed her name and image to be used by others for their own agendas and she has degraded and defamed the sacrifice of the son she claims to have "loved" so much.

Other bereft families as well as her very own family find her strident, at times unstable words and actions offensive and borderline traitorous.

Will she run, bet on it. Will she win, hey it's California the land of "Fruits, Nuts, and Flakes." They'd elect Hannibal Lector if given half the chance.

Keep your eye on him. The media is trying to downplay him. MySpace is blocking blogs and posts on him. He has a VERY strong message that a lot of folks don't want spread. Watch a few clips on YouTube and see.

His name isn't as prominent as the other contenders, but he is gaining speed. There is over a year to go. Don't count him out.

Oh yeah, don't go totally by the telephone polls. Fox completely lied and cheated on the debate results. Check out the MSNBC online poll. He kicked everyone's tail.

So why doent the "leftist" rag print this?

"House speaker faces 'impeach' chants at ribbon-cuttingBy SCOTT LINDLAW

It should have been a festive occasion for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, but the ribbon-cutting of a new federal building turned into a skirmish with anti-war protesters.

About a dozen people chanted "Impeach now!" as Pelosi spoke at the dedication of the $144 million, 18-story landmark office complex, which boasts cutting-edge energy efficiency features. The demonstrators also unfurled a large "impeach" banner that directly faced Pelosi and other speakers.

As Pelosi and other dignitaries prepared to snip the ceremonial ribbon, a heckler shouted: "How about cutting the funding for war?..."

<a href="http://www.fresnobee.com/384/story/81421.html" rel="nofollow">http://www.fresnobee.com/384/story/81421.html</a>

The more nancy sucks up to the repukes and the DLC, the more her "base" is abandoning her.
