Some food for thought: I considered bypassing the following and going to the original paper–but that’s far too much detail to begin with (the info is available on Saez’s homepage).
Check it out, folks:
“US Income Gap Close to 1928 Levels in 2005
Posted by Ginny CottsMarch 30th, 2007 @ 10:26 am
A preliminary analysis of 2005 IRS data by two economics professors is reported by David Cay Johnston in the New York Times Business section Thursday. Prof. Emmanuel Saez, UC, Berkeley and Prof. Thomas Piketty of the Paris School of Economics, consider the growing disparities in American income “significant in terms of social and political stability.”
Income inequality grew significantly in 2005, with the top 1 percent of Americans — those with incomes that year of more than $348,000 — receiving their largest share of national income since 1928, analysis of newly released tax data shows.
-The top 10 percent, roughly those earning more than $100,000, also reached a level of income share not seen since before the Depression
-While total reported income in the United States increased almost 9 percent in 2005, … average incomes for those in the bottom 90 percent dipped slightly compared with the year before, dropping $172, or 0.6 percent.
-The gains went largely to the top 1 percent, whose incomes rose to an average of more than $1.1 million each, an increase of more than $139,000, or about 14 percent.
-The new data also shows that the top 300,000 Americans collectively enjoyed almost as much income as the bottom 150 million Americans. Per person, the top group received 440 times as much as the average person in the bottom half earned, nearly doubling the gap from 1980.
So much for the trickle down hypothesis. It gets worse.
[Professor Saez] noted that the analysis was based on preliminary data and that the highest-income Americans were more likely than others to file their returns late, so his data might understate the growth in inequality.
The disparities may be even greater for another reason. The Internal Revenue Service estimates that it is able to accurately tax 99 percent of wage income but that it captures only about 70 percent of business and investment income, most of which flows to upper-income individuals, because not everybody accurately reports such figures.
The comparison to the roaring twenties figures:
The analysis by the two professors showed that the top 10 percent of Americans collected 48.5 percent of all reported income in 2005.
That is an increase of more than 2 percentage points over the previous year and up from roughly 33 percent in the late 1970s. The peak for this group was 49.3 percent in 1928.
Others have chimed in to interpret the data.
Robert Greenstein, executive director of the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, an advocacy group for the poor, said that the data understates the widening disparity between the top 1 percent and the rest of the country.
He said that in addition to rising incomes and reduced taxes, the equation should take into account cuts in fringe benefits to workers and in government services that middle-class and poor Americans rely on more than the affluent. These include health care, child care and education spending.
Those cuts in the fringe benefits are despite the facts of business profits.
The top tenth of a percent and top one-hundredth of a percent recorded even bigger gains in 2005 over the previous year. Their incomes soared by about a fifth in one year, largely because of the rising stock market and increased business profits.
The profits being aided and abetted by Government subsidies and tax cuts? Speaking of tax cuts. Greenstein has more to add to the picture.
Mr. Greenstein’s organization will release a report today showing that for Americans in the middle, the share of income taken by federal taxes has been essentially unchanged across four decades. By comparison, it has fallen by half for those at the very top of the income ladder.
Because the incomes of those at the top have grown so much more than those below them, their share of total income tax revenue has risen despite the reduced rates.
So for much of America, our income has not risen, our share of the tax burden has remained the same. The rich have enormously increased their income, their taxes have been cut in half because their share of the tax burden has increased. And now, for the bonus round.
A major issue likely to be debated in Congress in the year ahead is whether reversing the Bush tax cuts would slow investment and, if so, how much that would cost the economy.
Would anyone else bet the possibility of slowing investments will take precedence over slowing the deficit, debt and the widening gap in American incomes?”

Hey, folks, let’s party like it’s 1929!
“The lies and terror-tactics with which it deluded this country into war — they had nothing to do with the abomination that Iraq has become — it isn’t Mr. Bush’s fault.
The selection of the wrong war, in the wrong time, in the wrong place — the most disastrous a geo-political tactic since Austria-Hungary attacked Serbia in 1914 and destroyed itself in the process — that had nothing to do with the overwhelming crisis Iraq has become — it isn’t Mr. Bush’s fault.
The criminal lack of planning for the war — the total “jump-off-a-bridge-and-hope-you-can-fly” tone to the failure to anticipate what would follow the deposing of Saddam Hussein — that had nothing to do with the chaos in which Iraq has been enveloped — it isn’t Mr. Bush’s fault.
The utter, blinkered idiocy of “staying the course” — of sending Americans to Iraq, and sending them a second time, and a third, and a fourth, until they get killed or maimed — the utter de-prioritization of human life, simply so a politician can avoid having to admit a mistake — that had nothing to do with the tens of thousand individual tragedies darkening the lives of American families, forever — it isn’t Mr. Bush’s fault.
The continuing, relentless, remorseless, corrupt and cynical insistence that this conflict somehow is defeating, or containing, or just engaging the people who attacked us on 9/11 — the total “Alice Through The Looking Glass” quality that ignores that in Iraq, we have made the world safer for Al-Qaeda — it isn’t Mr. Bush’s fault!
The fault, brought down — as if a sermon from this mount of hypocrisy and slaughter, by a nearly anonymous Under-Secretary of Defense — the fault has tonight been laid on the doorstep of Senator Hillary Clinton and, by extension, at the doorstep of every American — the now vast majority of us — who have dared to criticize this war, or protest it, or merely ask questions about it, or simply, plaintively, innocently, honestly, plead, “don’t take my son; don’t take my daughter.”

LTP, didn’t Mr. Bush say during his first campaign that “the buck stops here”?It sure is strange how bad things have gotten since the “Adults” took over.
Rage, very interesting post.
Heck of a job! More Bush crony outrages…
FEMA Knew Of Toxic Gas In Trailers
By Spencer S. Hsu Washington Post
The Federal Emergency Management Agency since early 2006 has suppressed warnings from its own field workers about health problems experienced by hurricane victims living in government-provided trailers with levels of a toxic chemical 75 times the recommended maximum for U.S. workers, congressional lawmakers said yesterday.
A FEMA lawyer, Patrick Preston, wrote on June 15: “Do not initiate any testing until we give the OK. . . . Once you get results and should they indicate some problem, the clock is running on our duty to respond to them.”

That’s nothing new David B. Any time you live in a new structure of any kind or even old structures, the closed up condition of that structure leads to fumes, particulates and other unfriendly critters to be built up.
There are reasons for “airing” out a house and not just for smells.
Trailers are plastic breadboxes and most definitely need to be aired out before inhabited.
I would be interested in knowing how these tests were conducted in order to establish the “75 times” the recommended maximum of U.S. workers.
If the evaluator stuck his monitoring device in the trailers after it had been stored for a long time without being ventilated, then I would conclude that the study has an invalidity assigned to practical every day use.
Perhaps someone with more experience in monitoring such emissions will come along and give further guidance on this matter.
People were sickened and perhaps died from information deliberately suppressed for political reasons. This is perhaps negligent manslaughter by Bush appointees.
With information, Katrina victims would have knonw to ventilate.
I would suspect David B, if it were indeed formaldehyde that Pathologists even with vent hoods are exposed to much higher levels of formaldehyde than these trailers.
I would look for the actual cause of the death noted in this case and whether or not it was an allergic reaction to a mold toxin or some other natural cause.
SUNAPEE, N.H. (AP) — Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama said Thursday the United States cannot use its military to solve humanitarian problems and that preventing a potential genocide in Iraq isn’t a good enough reason to keep U.S. forces there.
I guess we learned absolutely nothing from WWII and Hitler, did we?
I thought we were supposed to use duct tape and plastic to seal up our homes in the event of an attack is this not safe? ooooh f#CK what will I do now?
“guess we learned absolutely nothing from WWII and Hitler, did we?”
Nope we funded saddam the same way we funded hitler even used the same family. Kinda makes it a family tradition.
Heard a possible plan for the next act of terror on America last night. Do y’all remember Beslen? Do y’all remember the bus overtaken by ‘terrorists’ in Florida?
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2006/05/22/national/main1638523.shtml
The fatwa granted against America specifically asked for how many American children could be killed (so the guest on the show stated). The answer was 2,000,000. Pretty scary number. Florida might have been a dry run.
It is speculated that the hijackers will look for girls old enough to be raped and boys too young yet to fight back. Some schools have security. What does a bus have?
Horrific and genius. Kill the boys. Rape and kill the girls. What would strike deeper into American’s hearts? Could this trigger an all out assault on Muslims in this nation? It would surely bring some kind of retribution. How can we keep our kids safe? How do you separate Muslim from radical Islam?
Now should this come to pass, we need to strike back HARD. Strike back mind you, no more of this pre-emptive crap. We don’t need to attack governments. We need to attack the terrorist camps. We need to kick some ass in Pakistan and Afghanistan and get the folks responsible. We need to fight al-qaeda, not governments or a country’s people. Pull the troops out of Iraq and stick them on the border of Pakistan and Afghanistan and pound the hell out of al-qaeda until they are so weak they become a non issue.
By hitting them and only them, we don’t create a war of civil war with the people of those countries and create a recruiting wet dream for the terrorists.
By the way, anyone notice that the Florida duo were from Saudi? Go figure.
Dear Folks who vote Republican,
Is this OK by you?
“Bush administration officials unveiled a bold new assertion of executive authority yesterday in the dispute over the firing of nine U.S. attorneys, saying that the Justice Department will never be allowed to pursue contempt charges initiated by Congress against White House officials once the president has invoked executive privilege.
The position presents serious legal and political obstacles for congressional Democrats, who have begun laying the groundwork for contempt proceedings against current and former White House officials in order to pry loose information about the dismissals.
Under federal law, a statutory contempt citation by the House or Senate must be submitted to the U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia, “whose duty it shall be to bring the matter before the grand jury for its action.”
But administration officials argued yesterday that Congress has no power to force a U.S. attorney to pursue contempt charges in cases, such as the prosecutor firings, in which the president has declared that testimony or documents are protected from release by executive privilege. Officials pointed to a Justice Department legal opinion during the Reagan administration, which made the same argument in a case that was never resolved by the courts.
“A U.S. attorney would not be permitted to bring contempt charges or convene a grand jury in an executive privilege case,” said a senior official, who said his remarks reflect a consensus within the administration. “And a U.S. attorney wouldn’t be permitted to argue against the reasoned legal opinion that the Justice Department provided. No one should expect that to happen.”
The official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss the issue publicly, added: “It has long been understood that, in circumstances like these, the constitutional prerogatives of the president would make it a futile and purely political act for Congress to refer contempt citations to U.S. attorneys.”
Mark J. Rozell, a professor of public policy at George Mason University who has written a book on executive-privilege issues, called the administration’s stance “astonishing.”
“That’s a breathtakingly broad view of the president’s role in this system of separation of powers,” Rozell said. “What this statement is saying is the president’s claim of executive privilege trumps all.”

I have two words for all you Republicans who continue to stand by Bush:
President Hilary.
If you think this power grab by Bush is OK, you obviously are comfortable giving President Hilary such powers. Are you?
Or do you acquiesce to Bush asserting these powers on the expectation that he has no intention of ever giving up the White House?
“…… that preventing a potential genocide in Iraq isn’t a good enough reason to keep U.S. forces there.”
Isn’t that what most people expect of the US and the western world; using the military to stop / preclude genocide (i.e. Darfur) —- supported by Humanitarian aid.
I wonder how Obama would stop genocide — Speed bumps?
He has lost me on this one ……
Good post, CF2K.
That was your Bush Family Evil Empire: Scandal Du Jour.
So under this initiative, Bill Clinton could have said that everything having to do with Monica Lewinsky was “executive priviledge” and ignored all the subpeonas of Congress.
He could have ignored impeachment.
Damn, too bad Clinton didn’t think of that!
Or Bush is tired of Democrats bringing up cases that have no merit and are just for Political fishing expeditions.
I doubt it will get anywhere as the courts will most likely shoot it down if challenged.
But I think the message sent is loud and clear.
Stop making frivolous charges and wasting the taxpayers dollars on these “Congressional investigative oversights.”
Yes, I would include the Clinton – Lewisnky investigation as frivolous too. It should have been handle by a single committee, Clinton given a written statement of some kind and be done with.
Cap’N,
It truly is high noon. Impeachment needs to be back on the table, because the cornered, unpopular, mired-in Bushes aren’t going to go quietly. They are now saying that Congress has NO oversight power to stand up to the Executive.
If the Bush Administration thinks it has the right to go around inventing a new shadow Constitution, seems to CF2K like a good reason to remove the Bushes from office.
CF2K still would like to hear from the Republicans who post on this blog. Put up or shut up, folks: do you choose the separation of powers and the Constitution, or the Bush Administration?
Y’all freakin crack me up you know that?
I post the possibility of the most horrific tragedies that could happen in America, and y’all just beat up on Bush.
You want to go after Bush over firing some lawyers? Get a freakin grip you two. If you want to go after him, go after him for something that will outrage America. Y’all keep preaching that he lied to congress and America about the war. That would be an EXCELLENT place to start. But no, the firing of lawyers. Y’all are the biggest damn joke I ever heard of.
Enjoy your hate and pathetic witch hunts. Never mind the side of beef hanging right in front of you.
Mega dittos to Rage as well!
Pretty soon the Limbaugh Listeners will be asking, “what do you want, SOCIALISM!”
Strangely, the Limbaugh Listeners ignore the simple fact that we’ve didn’t have socialism from 1930-1980, and income levels grew more egalitarian during that period.
Why?
Very simple. Powerful labor unions.
As productivity increased, the unions succeeded in making sure that the workers who raised productivity captured their fair share of that increase in wealth.
Reagan, who had spent most of his career as a union-buster for General Electric, devasted the once-proud organized labor movement, by firing the 11,000 air traffic controllers who went on strike (a violation of federal labor laws), encouraging off-shoring through the tax code, and shifting college costs to students through massive loans.
Anybody who works for a paycheck and votes Republican should just shoot themselves in the head.
It’s a quicker form of suicide.
CF2K,
OK, so what is it that you want. Bush is trying to dodge bullets. Whoopie shit. Name one president that hasn’t when faced with a screw up.
Is this wrong of Bush to try to hide his screw up. Of course. Even a moron like you can see it. What exactly do you expect out of a blog though? The WE blog is prosecuting Bush. Get over yourself.
And yet again, why are you going after kibble when there is a side of beef hanging right in front of you. Have the balls to go all out or stay at home.
Those same unions nearly Bankrupted and did bankrupt some Major Automobile Manufacturers.
Sol,
Thanks for the answer. Other than the curious lack of racist invective, it is exactly what I would have expected of you.
Other Republicans, what is your take?
Sollie–
Here’s where we differ.
You see 9-11 as evidence a threat of Biblical proportions. It shows that there’re all these horrible people out there who have no goal but killing as many Americans as possible!
I don’t see it that way. I see it as a f*** up by a guy on vacation, as Bill Mahrer put it.
The reason that all those terrorists were in the US and unmolested was because they were Saudis, and the Bush family never met a Saudi who ass they wouldn’t kiss.
Yes, terrorism is a threat.
But so is a dictatorial executive branch who uses fear of terrorism to take away American’s civil liberties and historic checks and balances.
With a blast that made skyscrapers tremble, an 83-year-old steam pipe sent a powerful message that the miles of tubes, wires and iron beneath New York and other U.S. cities are getting older and could become dangerously unstable.
The American Society of Civil Engineers estimates that it will take $1.6 trillion over the next five years to get the nation’s roads, bridges, dams, water systems and airports into good condition.
http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/07/19/manhattan.explosion.ap/index.html
I would still like a list of Civil Liberties lost to the average citizen in the U.S. and name those who have lost their Civil Liberties that were not suspected terrorists or terrorist supporters.
Let’s see a list of those who lost these Civil Liberties.
Anyone?
CK2F,
I am neither republican nor a racist. Nice side step though. Just loving your kibble because there is a definite lack of testicular fortitude to go after that side of beef. Or is that side of beef a straw man? Can’t prove he lied? What gives CK2F????
The only things that have bankrupted American car companies is their insistance on making cars that Americans don’t want.
As gas prices rose, one of the big three brought out the street version of The Humvee.
How dumb can you get?
That’s how dumb American car makers are . . .
Tracy said that given enough time every conversation here ends up with “F*** you.” “No . . . F*** YOU!”
Maybe that’s why were down to like three women post-ers.
They strangely don’t appreciate a board that is the verbal equivalent of a “mixed martial arts” match.
With CapnAmerica being a major contributor of this Blog’s disruptive posts.
pot calling kettle…
“You see 9-11 as evidence a threat of Biblical proportions. It shows that there’re all these horrible people out there who have no goal but killing as many Americans as possible!”
3,000 deaths. Biblical proportions is overstating it Capn. Don’t dodge or put words where they don’t belong. There ARE people with that goal capn. Wake up and smell al-qaeda.
“But so is a dictatorial executive branch who uses fear of terrorism to take away American’s civil liberties and historic checks and balances.”
OK, so either impeach him for these crimes or SHUT THE F*** UP. The incessant whining is sickening. If he is such a F*** Up, get him out of office. WTF?
You know if these deadbeats living in trailer trash would be a little more proactive in looking for a job , instead of a goverment handout:
They wouldn’t be living in formaldehyde fumes for two years.
Come to Kansas: Do tornado “victims” sit around for two years waiting for momma government to spoon feed them?
No where else in the USA have we had people sit around for two years waiting for a handout.
Look at tornados, hurricanes, floods, and any other disaster. Someone led these people to believe it’s all the governments fault and we OWE them something.
Wonder who that was?
Don’t dodge or put words where they don’t belong.Posted by: SolDevVB | July 20, 2007 at 09:46 AM
Sol,
I’m counting on you to live up to your criticism there ;)
The last American car I bought? It’s engine was built in Mexico.
It was crap.
Never again . . .
Oh, and how about that electric car they brought out in the 90’s.
It threatened to be successful, so they had to recall many thousands of them and crush them.
They were hoping it would fail. And when it didn’t, they made sure it failed.
Also, Sol, you mention from time to time the hydrogen fuel cell?
Yeah, that’s never going to happen.
It’s more tokenism to make it look like the Big Three are working for a change.
They are not. They know that hydrogen fuel cells will take decades to develop–if they ever do actually work.
They are fully invested in making sure that the obsolete technology represented by the dangerous, polluting, complicated 100 year old internal combustion engine is never replaced.
Its not It’s — someday . . . an edit feature . . .
Tom..
Oh….Kay…..
Kansas claims that he doesn’t value his privacy because he has nothing to hide.
Okay, why don’t you tell us all your personal information:
Real name, job (if any), age, place of residence, phone number, marital status, etc.
Because after all, you have nothing to hide.
Capn,
Hey don’t tell Florida that hydrogen cells are a strawman. What with the 30 Fords they are field testing.
Hey, don’t tell California either, what with them redesigning their mass transit system and all – whoops – to include massive hydrogen filling stations.
So just keep that one under your hat there capn and buy a car that runs on the biggest straw man of them all – ethanol. Let me know how that works out for you.
Here’s one of Capn America’s finest. NO WONDER TRACY LEFT THE BLOG. He needs professional help!
It’s funny.
LHG (Little Headed Guy) stopped posting right after I pointed out that given what he writes, he’d have to be at least 87 years old.
Don’t run away (hobble away?), Little Headed Guy.
Push the walker up to the computer and type away, Grandma . . .
Posted by: CapnAmerica | July 19, 2007 at 02:38 PM
I got an e-mail from this guy who used to post here all the time and now hardly ever does.
He said, “I got tired of conversations that went like this: F*** you! NO, F*** YOU!”
Pretty much sums it up, doesn’t it.
Posted by: CapnAmerica | July 19, 2007 at 11:31 PM
So, CK and Capn, if Bush is soooo terrible and unconstitutional, why is it impeachment is not on the table? Why is the congress so loath to call Bush out on a real issue?
I have nothing to hide from Kansans.
But since this is the Internet, one has to exercise caution.
If my information is abused in Kansas, I can sue you. :)
If some overseas pirate takes my information, there’s probably nothing I can do about it.
Sol,
Really? I seem to remember a certain someone calling certain other Islamic someones by a racial slur. And I suspect I’m not the only one who remembers this, either.
As for you being a Republican, your response to my request for Republican views self-identified you as such.
The congress passed energy legislation which actually helps auto makers NOT make fuel efficient cars. Really, the government gives them like 20 years to increase efficieny what, 5 MPG? No incentive to improve more or faster.
Meanwhile, Honda and Toyota cannot keep up with demand for their hybrid cars making 40+ MPG.
Sounds like free enterprise works better than government regulation.
Hey Kansas!
If you don’t want to give out yer name to the person requesting it, why not just put out yer credit card number for him?
Geez, some people.
Didn’t one of the older Volkswagen models get like 50 mpg? I think it was back in the day of leaded gas, but still…
Troll-boy– You’re baiting me. I’m used to it from you. Not gonna work.
Walking on by.
Sol–
Speaking of putting words in people’s mouths, did I say one thing about ethanol?
I don’t really think ethanol is the answer. Not at all.
One researcher estimated that if you could take ALL the vegetation grown in America for an entire year–that includes all the trees and the grass in your front yard as well as all the corn and wheat–it would NOT be enough energy to replace oil.
So, it’s obviously not the answer.
I used a naughty word when referring to terrorist. I guess CK is the terrorist’s – Friend of the Blog- and has outed me for it.
I accept that I used a naughty word to describe terrorist and/or their nationality, creed, religion, what ever. I will not support nor be PC with the vile scum.
Thank you CK for supporting and defending them though.
Okay back to CF2K’s original question–
How many Republicans feel that the President and everyone who works for the President should never again have to answer a Congressional subpeona?
Let’s have a roll call vote . . .
Do you support the President’s exclusion from answering subpeonas–
Sol: yes, because terrorism is such a threat
Troll-boy: yes, because Bush is the closest thing to God on earth
Who else?
Capn,
I think our current president should be excused from answering any more Congressional subpoenas. The best way to implement this new approach is for the current president to retire, or forcibly retired, back to Crawford.
Sol,
Thanks for confirming my claim that you are, in fact, a racist. Your integrity on this point puts you in a somewhat better light than at least some of the other racist white trash that stinks this place up.
However, when you say that because CF2K objects to the use of anti-Islamic racial slurs, that he “supports terrorism” or is a “friend of terrorists” (whatever THAT means), well, Sol, just think about that for a second. Here’s what you’re saying:
Everybody who rejects the use of racist language supports terrorists.
It’s like I said to Joe Williams the other day: if you don’t want to be called stupid, don’t say stupid things.
Don’t dodge or put words where they don’t belong.Posted by: SolDevVB | July 20, 2007 at 09:46 AM
That didn’t last long, did it?
Sol: yes, because terrorism is such a threatPosted by: CapnAmerica | July 20, 2007 at 10:08 AM
What were you answering?
Do you think terrorism is NOT a threat? Huh, why is it that al-qaeda is STRONGER now? Why is it that Saudis are over hear boarding our children’s school busses?
Nah, why worry about terrorism? Let’s go on a fired lawyer field trip because that is ever so important to our country right now. Heck it’s the top of the to-do list.
Tom, how so?
Solly, I feel that my well being and safety are in FAR more jeopardy from the lawless bushco than from any terrorists. Maybe that’s because out here, we dont amount to a pimple on a gnat’s ass, so I dont feel any threat from terrorist attacks.
But the long arm of the federal government does reach out here in a variety of ways that affect my life every day. If the feds remain unchecked by law or ANY oversight, including DOJ or congress, then yes, I feel very vulnerable.
You see, we dont amount to a pimple on a gnat’s ass out here to bushco either. But they are far more likely to reach me here than any terrorist.
And Solly? You are asking the same question most of the country is asking.
Why isnt impeachment going forward? WTF will it take to get rid of these lawless bastards and institute the rule of law again?
I think it will take Barbara Jordan rising from the grave. And Sam Ervin joining her.
That’s how likely I think impeachment is, given that clearly, the congress and the executive branch and the judiciary all serve the same masters.
Bushco and the MIC.
CF.
OK, let’s say I am racist towards the people killing Americans. You win. But you still don’t answer my questions. Could this be a red hearing?
Maybe our next president will declare Bush and his cronies to be enemies of the state and lock them up. Thanks to GW that president would have the power to do so and would not have to testify to Congress about it.There may be something positive in this after all.
ksfarmgrrl,
Indeed. But if not now, when?
Here’s Speaker Pelosi’s number: let her know what you think about impeachment being “off the table.”
(202) 225-0100

I encourage the Democrats to go for impeachment.
It will cost them the next four Presidential elections at least.
Sol–
See the “Hype about Hydrogen.”
I wish it would work. But that’s the thing, if it DID work, the big three wouldn’t be pursuing it.
We already have a technology that works just fine for the average commuter–plug-in electric cars.
Big Oil killed them.
Grrl,
I agree with most of your points. When the WTC was attacked, I didn’t lose anything personally. It still hurt like hell though. Those were a bunch of business people that pay more in taxes than I earn each year. They were still Americans and it hurt.
Now if these bastards went after our children? Holly crap you want to talk about a rage? They have had 6 years to regroup and plan. I feel the next foot about to fall.
Bush is a F’ up. No doubt. Get behind a candidate who will clean up his mess. Someone you trust.
With Congress tied up in witch hunts, Iraq, the legislation they promised… What does Bush have time to pass that will impact us? If he has the time or ability, IMPEACH HIS ASS. Get on and stay on your legislators until they do something.
I am just sick to death of the bush whiners that do NOTHING. DO SOMETHING besides whine.
I live in the sticks too. I don’t add up to dry shit to the gov’t but when America is attacked, the might as well have burned down my house and shot my best dog.
I guess CK is the terrorist’s – Friend of the Blog- and has outed me for it.Thank you CK for supporting and defending them though.Posted by: SolDevVB | July 20, 2007 at 10:00 AMPosted by: Tom | July 20, 2007 at 10:19 AM
And that amounts to dodging exactly how Tom? The rest of the post takes the hit for using a racist comment about terrorists.
So what exactly is your point hero?
A “red hearing?” Oh, you mean “red herring!”
I presume you’re referring to the question of why Democrats haven’t taken up impeachment?
Good question. I think Congressional Democrats are scared of what the DC media and the Republicans will say and do if they go forward. They’re playing by an old set of rules about comity and civility, whereas the Republicans have shredded the book and lined birdcages with it.
Republicans are going all the way, daring the Democrats to stop them and to enforce the rule of law. I think this provocation by Bush is a direct response to Harry’s Sleep-In. If so, fine. Democrats seem, finally, to be facing squarely the reality of a cornered and losing Bush Administration, which is willing to take down the Constitution in order to stay out of jail.
At this point, I’m rallying behind my party leaders: they’re the only thing standing between us and the soft fascism of BigBusinessBushco.
You know who I blame the most? Republicans. Bush is their boy. It is and was their job to rein him in, and they’ve failed. Every Republican Senator bent over for George, Dick, and Karl. Warner, Specter, Hagel, McCain, Snowe, Voinovich, Brownback, Roberts–every one of them, when faced with the choice of Bush or the Constitution, chose Bush.
We’ll see what happens over the next few days, whether this is just another ‘drip-drip-drip’ as the Constitution drains away, or whether folks are finally willing to face reality and to do something about it.
Capn,
That is why Hydrogen hybrids work. They extend the range of hydrogen cars. The cars I am referring to are hydrogen electric hybrids. Non-combustion. All electric.
If is doesn’t work capn, why are Toyota and Honda fielding them?
Sol,
In this case it’s not the dodge – it’s putting words where they don’t belong. You’ve restated, and MISSTATED, CF2K’s position in inflammatory language, then attacked him for your mischaracterization.
Nice work.
I dont think I need any lectures on political activism.
I agree, that the preznit AND dead eye dick AND agag should be impeached. Immediately.
I have speaker pelosi’s number, and like thousands of activists, I have made my views known.
The problem, as I stated before, is that they all serve the same masters. How will I know there is a hair’s difference between the d’s and the r’s?
When impeachment proceedings are COMPLETED much less begun. Until then? They all serve the same masters.
I dont think I need any lectures on political activism.Posted by: ksfarmgrrl | July 20, 2007 at 10:29 AM
Farmgrrl makes a classic midwestern understatement.
“Good question. I think Congressional Democrats are scared of what the DC media and the Republicans will say and do if they go forward.”
That makes them worse than Bushco by 100 fold. They are more concerned with their careers. Great choice of a party to stand behind. PROUD OF YA
“You know who I blame the most? Republicans.”
So don’t vote for them and quit whining.
And here’s a warning from precisely the sort of old school Republican that the Bushes have tried to put out to pasture.
http://rawstory.com/news/2007/Oldline_Republican_warns_somethings_in_works_0719.html
“Thom Hartmann began his program on Thursday by reading from a new Executive Order which allows the government to seize the assets of anyone who interferes with its Iraq policies.
He then introduced old-line conservative Paul Craig Roberts — a former Assistant Secretary of the Treasury under Reagan who has recently become known for his strong opposition to the Bush administration and the Iraq War — by quoting the “strong words” which open Roberts’ latest column: “Unless Congress immediately impeaches Bush and Cheney, a year from now the US could be a dictatorial police state at war with Iran.”
“I don’t actually think they’re very strong,” said Roberts of his words. “I get a lot of flak that they’re understated and the situation is worse than I say. … When Bush exercises this authority [under the new Executive Order] … there’s no check to it. It doesn’t have to be ratified by Congress. The people who bear the brunt of these dictatorial police state actions have no recourse to the judiciary. So it really is a form of total, absolute, one-man rule. … The American people don’t really understand the danger that they face.”
Roberts said that because of Bush’s unpopularity, the Republicans face a total wipeout in 2008, and this may be why “the Democrats have not brought a halt to Bush’s follies or the war, because they expect his unpopular policies to provide them with a landslide victory in next year’s election.”
However, Roberts emphasized, “the problem with this reasoning is that it assumes that Cheney and Rove and the Republicans are ignorant of these facts, or it assumes that they are content for the Republican Party to be destroyed after Bush has his fling.” Roberts believes instead that Cheney and Rove intend to use a renewal of the War on Terror to rally the American people around the Republican Party. “Something’s in the works,” he said, adding that the Executive Orders need to create a police state are already in place.
“The administration figures themselves and prominent Republican propagandists … are preparing us for another 9/11 event or series of events,” Roberts continued. “Chertoff has predicted them. … The National Intelligence Estimate is saying that al Qaeda has regrouped. … You have to count on the fact that if al Qaeda’s not going to do it, it’s going to be orchestrated. … The Republicans are praying for another 9/11.”
Hartmann asked what we as the people can do if impeachment isn’t about to happen. “If enough people were suspicious and alert, it would be harder for the administration to get away with it,” Roberts replied. However, he added, “I don’t think these wake-up calls are likely to be effective,” pointing out the dominance of the mainstream media.
“Americans think their danger is terrorists,” said Roberts. “They don’t understand the terrorists cannot take away habeas corpus, the Bill of Rights, the Constitution. … The terrorists are not anything like the threat that we face to the Bill of Rights and the Constitution from our own government in the name of fighting terrorism. Americans just aren’t able to perceive that.”
Roberts pointed out that it’s old-line Republicans like himself, former Reagan associate deputy attorney general Bruce Fein, and Pat Buchanan who are the diehards in warning of the danger. “It’s so obvious to people like us who have long been associated in the corridors of power,” he said. “There’s no belief in the people or anything like that. They have agendas. The people are in the way. The Constitution is in the way. … Americans need to comprehend and look at how ruthless Cheney is. … A person like that would do anything.”
Roberts final suggestion was that, in the absence of a massive popular outcry, “the only constraints on what’s going to happen will come from the federal bureaucracy and perhaps the military. They may have had enough. They may not go along with it.”
If Democrats smell the coffee and save America from Bush’s tyranny, seems to CF2K that it would ensure an FDR-like electoral dominance for the foreseeable future.
Tom,
Thank you. Thank you very much.
“Now if these bastards went after our children? Holly crap you want to talk about a rage? They have had 6 years to regroup and plan. I feel the next foot about to fall.”
Jesus solly, do you wet the bed much? You’ve concocted this whole story about an organized effort to target children. You “feel the next foot about to fall”?
Uh, dont you think that is what bushco and gut boy chertoff WANT you to do? Be afraid, be very afraid?
Of course there could be another attack any time. That is now the world we live in. But the question is, are you going to live in fear and let the “terrorists” win?
Or are you gonna man up and say the constitution is WORTH more deaths to protect? I mean, how many more have to die in iraq while we are less and less safe?
Live free or die seems to be a forgotten motto…
Grrl,
Pretty shitty state of affairs isn’t it?
You know, that same line of logic hit me when the Dems land slid ‘06. How many of them were –purchased- before their butts even hit the chairs? Would explain why more isn’t being done you know?
“Farmgrrl makes a classic midwestern understatement.”
hee hee hee hee!
Yep Tom, that’s what I’m known for. Understatement. :)
One of my pals in Texas tells me that I have an uncanny ability to hit the nail precisely on the head. I just use a sledge hammer when a little hammer would do!
hee hee hee hee!
So what civil liberties have been lost to the average citizen? Not terrorists or suspected terrorists.
I’ll ask again.
What civil liberties have been lost to the average citizen? Provide a list who have lost these liberties?
(crickets chirping)
I don’t want the US in Iraq any more than you do.
Do you have nieces and nephews? Does that story that not I concocted, but only relayed here, not strike home with you. You know when it is men and woman, it is an outrage. When it is children… there isn’t a word for it.
Do I live in fear? Not in the least, but thoughts like these do weigh on you. The question, and point is, should we be burning time and effort of the careers of some lawyers? Should we not be getting out of Iraq, and if y’all want to, impeach Bush for war crimes, lying to congress, having his thumb too far up his ass. What ever. But these witch hunts over lawyers? Put some MEAT on the table you know?
Bring our troops home and defend our borders. Oh wait, you have to establish borders before you can protect them. Let’s do that first.
“You know, that same line of logic hit me when the Dems land slid ‘06. How many of them were –purchased- before their butts even hit the chairs? Would explain why more isn’t being done you know?”
Agreed Solly.
And just like the repukes are trying to wrestle control of their party from the neocons and their unholy alliance with the religious reich, a lot of dems are trying to wrestle control of THEIR party from the DLCers who worship the same money masters as their republican counterparts.
The real fights to watch are intRA party. Right now, there is no real inter party disagreement.
If there were, impeachment would be proceeding apace.
Farmgrrl,
I only noted the understatement because, well, it’s so damn RARE.
Speaking of rare, that’s how I like my steaks.
See you tomorrow!
Guess I didn’t look that far into the abyss Grrl. Sad thing is, I see repubs distancing themselves from Bush, but still headed down the NeoCon trail. Wish I could say otherwise.
Don’t pay much attention to the dems. Take your word on that one.
Solly, ok, I get you dont think that turning the DOJ into a political machine for republicans is a big deal.
But there has to be a ROUTE to impeachment. There have to be “high crimes and misdemeanors” based on something other than assumptions and politics.
What route do YOU want to take to impeachement? It shouldnt be hard. Pick one. Pick twenty. But whatever route you pick, there HAS to be investigation and formal charges. By someone. And it aint gonna come from the executive or judicial branches. The only hope is from congressional investigation.
See, that is what we mean by the rule of law not mob rule.
… and do I even need to say that bushco intends to use both legal and ILLEGAL means to block and prevent ANY investigation or oversight by congress?
THAT is why this crap about DOJ not pursuing contempt charges is so dangerous. Bushco isnt even PRETENDING to be subject to the law.
And the sheeple follow….
Hee hee Tom. Me too. When I order a steak, I tell them to “shave the ass, trim the hooves, and send that sumbitch out!”
Or as one of my Texas pals says, she likes her steak so the cow still has a chance to recover….
I don’t want him impeached. We don’t need that kind of drama and instability shown of America when we are already this vulnerable.
When Bush is gone, the lawyers will be replaced anyway.
If what everyone on here is bitching about is true, then nail him for the lies. That is a solid that the American people can get behind. It is a solid that got us stuck in Iraq. Once you start the process under that guise, the people will react and support. The repubs already lost their ass in ‘06. If they don’t support what the people want – regarding the lies – then they will lose their asses again in ‘08.
What I would rather see is Bush hamstrung. Lame duck him. Let his term end, then prosecute criminally. That could be downplayed somewhat and the outcome will not have any bearing on the strength of the nation – there will be another president in place.
KFG- Eating steak that rare- do you ever have an insane desire to moo and paw the ground?
Lop his horns off, wipe his nasty old a$$ and stick him on the plate.
hee hee hee gster.
No, but I do sometimes howl at the moon with the rest of the pack…
Perhaps someone with more experience in monitoring such emissions will come along and give further guidance on this matter.
Posted by: Kansas
And this is called ‘passing the buck’. You really should go work for Bush and Gang – they could use a creative guy like you Kansas.
FEMA knew for a year about the problem but chose not to do anything about it based on their lawyer’s advice to not own up to the problem.
Isn’t it always the Republicans who are complaining about lawyers being crooked but yet FEMA used their lawyer to cover up what they knew was a problem for a year.
The cover-up is what got Nixon into trouble.. Cover-up is what got the Catholic Church into trouble and they are paying out billions now to the molested victims
Things happen but when it is covered up by someone or some federal agency, then THAT is the problem.
gster,
Mmmm, steak tartare. Mmmmmm.
Sol,
I’d agree with putting the Miscreant out to pasture, but he isn’t going quietly. He’s aiming to take everything else down with him.
Solly, there will NEVER be a criminal prosecution.
The repukes and the bush crime family set the precedent when they pardoned cappy weinberger and company in ADVANCE of any charges.
Kinda like ford did with nixon.
I see how well THAT worked…
I also dont think impeaching this lawless bunch would signal “vulnerability” or “weakness” to the world.
I think it would demonstrate the strength of democracy, our firm committment to the rule of law, and our defense of liberty and justice.
Even when the medicine is bad, we should be strong enough to swallow it and show the world who we are.
Not hide behind who we say we are.
There you go. If the congress doesn’t have the balls to impeach, hamstring the yo-yo. Get your legislation passed. Defund the war. Make it happen or die trying.
The cons will whine bitch and filibuster. Let them. Let the nation see that the repubs are killing this nation. How long will they survive? What do you think their chances will be in ‘08. How many of them will realize that this split congress, split by GW, is ineffective for the nation and their own careers.
Some of the repubs are distancing themselves from GW. Some of them actually get it and are distancing themselves from the war. Put the spotlight on them for holding up legislature and see if they done either –get it- or get burned up.
Get the damn NeoCons the hell out of DC. Let’s see some traditional republicans or even libertarians step up.
No fred, it’s not passing the buck. It’s called deferring the matter to an expert who knows what he’s talking about.
I’m not about to get into air sampling of trailers when I don’t even know how it is done.
To take the word of a news agency that reported on the matter with incomplete details is using scare tactics without facts.
So solly, so you want it to be on YOUR watch that the great american experiment in democracy goes down in flames?
Do you want it to be said that YOUR generation did nothing to uphold the rule of law? That you had the last clear chance and you decided to buckle under to fear of terrorism?
Do you want it said throughout the world that THIS set of Americans willingly gave up the protection of the constitution for the false sense of security that facism brings?
Do you?
Impeach, indict, convict.
Farmie,
If the dems have brain cell one working for them, then they should have 10,000 aides working RIGHT now on all the paper and money trails. Capture the evidence now.
In ‘08, if Ron Paul or a dem get elected, you can forget a pardon. Unless the Dem is bought and paid for.
To impeach him now would be devastating. As $hitty as he run this country, impeaching him would show a huge sign of weakness.
Sorry posts, crossed.
“There you go. If the congress doesn’t have the balls to impeach, hamstring the yo-yo. Get your legislation passed. Defund the war. Make it happen or die trying.”
Solly, that’s the damn point! If the dems had the courage to “hamstring” or “Get your legislation passed. Defund the war. Make it happen or die trying”…
Then they would IMPEACH, not pussy foot around with “hamstrings”.
As it is now, it reminds me of what Ben says about “bread and circus”. Punch and Judy.
And guess who’s getting punched?
Couldn’t Happen to a Nicer ‘Feller’
The Bush bunch of neocons needs a strong Al-Qaeda. Without a strong Al-Qaeda Bush has nothing to really scare the American people with, that is the few who still support him.
American television is full of Al-Qaeda this and Al-Qaeda that, anything which will keep the name out in front of the American people.
The “terrorism thing” has become threadbare, due to having been so overused and misapplied, as to become meaningless.
Bush has flat run out of reasons to keep killing Iraqis and without a viable “slogan,” Bush’s “war-thing” is sinking by the bow. Bush is so desperate, it shows in his speeches. Even polls among soldiers shows their support is down below 25%.
Couldn’t happen to a
nicer “feller.”

Solly, this brings us back full circle.
“If the dems have brain cell one working for them, then they should have 10,000 aides working RIGHT now on all the paper and money trails. Capture the evidence now.”
That is what congress is TRYING to do with the DOJ scandals. And you were complaining about it not being real work. That is what REAL work looks like, not grandstanding for the cameras.
I see everyone is still crying the blues about our nations president on the liberal board in the red state.
Was “shocked” to see the latest that Bush is now accused of deliberately “gassing” Katrina victims living who are still living in trailer.
Amazing how for you will go when you spend your life hating someone.
It is way to late in the game to impeach him, so why all the wasted effort pegging every little negative to him?
He already has a record low rating, although Congress is not exactly sweeping the polls either.
It appears you will succeed in eventually bring the troops homoe for Iraq and I can’t wait for democrats to pat themselves on the back for that.
So what’s the gain for beating a dead horse?
It’s the future that counts. So who is gonna be the democratic daddy? Hillary with Osama as viceis pretty well sealed up in your media.
Republicans cannot afford to wait on a candidate. Field is still wide open, and they will never catch up with name recognition (not to mention money). Way too many candidates, and none of them appear to resonate LEADER.
Oh never mind, it is much more fun to cry in our beer about Bushy that discuss the future.
Impeachment comment:
A year will soon be up for the two year Congressman elected in 2006.
Inaction or inept political will?
Take your choice.
If Bush lied, tampered with intelligence, and brought both before congress, why is that not a burning thorn in Bush’s side? That seems far more dangerous and illegal that hiring and firing lawyers at his pleasure.
Proof of the tampering SolDevVB?
I’m not the one whining and bitching about impeaching him. Every time the war and the war vote are brought up, the left on this blog keep crying that bush lied and tampered with evidence. So go ask them.
“If Bush lied, tampered with intelligence”Posted by: SolDevVB | July 20, 2007 at 11:13 AM
Ya gotta read the ‘If’ – the first word.
autorización, ahora le entiendo. :)
Sol,
The troll is reading comprehension impaired.
:::nails up NO FEEDING THE TROLL sign:::
You aren’t going to impeach Bush.
Congress cannot even approve the appropriation bills before 30 September of this year.
You think they are competent enough to impeach a president?
Better get started quick, you are about out of time.
Oh and BTW, they are going on vacation for a month, so catch em quick for this important event.
Never happen.
Thanks Tom. I was gonna nail up the “walk on by” sign, but no feeding is good too…
Sorry Kansas. I’m an American and as such read english. Maybe you could find a nice spanish blog to post on.
hotdog1,
Like the good Repube spin-peddler you seem to be, you never quite get around to asking WHY Democrats haven’t passed appropriation bills.
Easy: Senate Republicans have filibustered every major piece of legislation for the last six months. They refuse to let the work of the Senate go forward.
Funny thing, though: even when Repubes were in charge of Congress, they wouldn’t or couldn’t pass appropriation bills. Maybe Denny Hastert was too busy having sex with little boys, as the rumor mill suggests.
translated, “Okay (authorized)I understand you now.”
Impeachment itself is not that big a deal. It can be achieved by a straight-party vote of the majority party in the House of Representatives. The same was the Speaker of the House is elected.
But it’s a serious Constitutional crisis (albeit belittled by Newt Gingrich and the gang in the 1990s), and should not be undertaken lightly.
Articles of Impeachment should not become an automatic pro forma vote every time a House majorty and Chief Executive represent differnt parties.
That said, I do believe George WMD Bush and especially Dick Cheney are guilty of impeachable offenses. Simultaneous impeachment trials are unprecedented and probably worthy of constitutional review by the Supreme Court. Going after Cheney first would then lead to an appointment by Bush of a new Veep, likely to be a drawn-out affair in its own right. By then, well into the 2008 primary elections, convicting Shrub and removing him from office will be reduced to going through the motions.
With the conservative-dominated corporate mainstream media filtering all these constitutional crises (removing a President during “a war, “mere political payback for the Clinton impeachment,” and any more Rovian talking points parroted by Faux Noise Channel and to the Limbaugh–tomized masses…) the obvious triumph of justice by removing this corrupt Administration seems to be an exercise in diminishing returns.
We got into this mess in 2000, with an election that defied the will of the people. Call me an ol’ bleeding-heart conservative, but I’d like to get back to selecting the president the old fashioned way: by the will of the people expressed at the polls.
Well the democrats are in charge now and they promised they’d do better than the republicans last year.
Waiting to see if Boyda lied to me during her campaign. She ran bad mouthing those lousey do nothing republicans.
Waiting to see if she did too.You know what excuses are like. Can’t blame the republicans for everything. I wonder why the republicans didn’t blame the democrats when they were in power? Or maybe they did.
Either way, our ineffective government is spinning it’s wheels, and if they can keep all of us fooled by blaming the other party, maybe that makes them effective afterall.
Can’t label me one side or the other anymore. Used to, until the last four year. But I still have hope.
I could give a rat’s ass if he gets impeached or tried after his term. We need to reign him in before he gets us tangled with Iran.
He has dug his own grave. His legacy will be crap. I didn’t think anyone could go out with a worse legacy than Clinton, but Bush defies much does he not?
HotDog — Ron Paul. Check him out.
Sol,
Agreed that the sumbitch needs to be stopped. But from where CF2K sits, impeachment looks like the only way to do it.
Constitutional crises demand Constitutional remedies: impeach George Bush and Dick Cheney NOW.
You told me that the other day. I did. I checked out his website. My impression is he is honest, stands for many issues I support, and refreshing.
But he doesn’t have name recognition. Republicans do not have six months to get their candidate out there. Too many in the zoo. They need to sit down and for the party, pull out and get the number down to 3 to 4 at MOST.
Time is short.

sol,If your soooo worried about the scarrorists hop on a plane to the M.E. Upon arrival open up a can of whoopass. I’m sure you could draft a few of your fellow members of the 151st fightin keyboarders. I personally wil sell support soldev8 magnets and send you care packages.Plus as an added benefit I will insult scorn deride and abuse anyone who negatively comments against your efforts here on the we blog
Impeach Bush? It ain’t going to happen. There’s not time and the Democrats don’t have the political will, spine, or balls to do that. They also don’t have the votes, so why waste the time or resources? I don’t see a lot of choices here except to just grit your teath and ride the SOB out to the end of his term.
I just hope all you wing-nuts that support what this SOB is doing will still support it when a republican isn’t president.
Republicans,
When CF2K and others compare you to a) Stalinism or b) Fascism, here’s some evidence for his view: a LOYALTY OATH that has been issued by the Kansas GOP for Republicans.
“I, _______________, promise never to abandon my present Republican Party affiliation for the purpose of political gain. The Republican Party, both nationally and domestically, was founded on sound and principled ideals, that include but are not limited to, personal liberty, individual freedom, responsive and citizen-based Government, life-affirming values, economic growth, strong and cutting edge military, low taxes and a mutual respect for fellow Republicans. Because of that, I will, at no point in my political or personal future, find cause to transfer my Party loyalty to any other affiliated organization.
I will not, at any future moment, become a registered Democrat for the purpose of seeking any political office. Additionally, I will not change my Party affiliation to that of any peripheral political party, such as the Reform Party, the Green Party or the Libertarian Party. Such a move would be not only opportunistic, it would be an unjustified trampling of everything that I previously claimed to stand for.
I care far too deeply about the previously espoused Republican ideals as well as the thousands of hard-working Republican citizens all over the State of Kansas to ever consider changing my political Party affiliation. I look forward to a life of citizen-serving, Republican political involvement. I thank the Kansas Republican Party, including all of the registered Kansas Republicans, for their years of service, good will and friendship.
I solemnly pledge to always be a Republican, no matter what promises are made by external forces seeking only to undermine the Republican values I stand for. I can have reasonable disagreement with members of the Republican Party; however, at no point will ‘Party switching’ or quitting of the Party be tolerable.
Signed, X_____________________ ”

CF2K is curious: how many posters here have taken the oath?
Thom Hartmann began his program on Thursday by reading from a new Executive Order which allows the government to seize the assets of anyone who interferes with its Iraq policies.
Get ready
Young man,
Appropriate nic. I fought in the first gulf war. What exactly have you contributed?
BTW young boy, are you supporting this war? If so, why aren’t you over there now? Practice what you preach?
Here you go ‘young man’
http://www.goarmy.com/contact/find_a_recruiter.jsp
I hope beige is your color.
who says I’m not here bitches. Can you say private security company.
Dunno CF2K, never seen that before.
I think the oath is a bit misguided and inappropriate myself.
I would never sign such a thing.
Me too Sol, I was in first Gulf War. Although didn’t do any fighting, we were too far out and up doing surveillance to be considered “in the zone.”
We did have a few SAM’s that tried to catch us though. Most of them ran out of fuel and acceleration and fell to the ground.
I did get wounded post-war though, during the no-fly zone thing. Ironically, it had nothing to do with Iraqi’s firing at us, it was turbine failure from FOD from another aircraft spreading debris all over the sky.
Young boy,
I have many acquaintances within Blackwater both here and abroad. Where exactly are you located and what specifically is your mission.
Now I have just given you the benefit of the doubt, as you didn’t expressly say you were there. So… are you?
“no-fly zone thing.”
Yeah I remember operation “no-fly zone thing.” too.
REPORT: FEDS INVESTIGATING ROCKET LAUNCHER FOUND AT A HOME NEAR FLIGHT PATH FOR NEW JERSEY’S NEWARK AIRPORT
I think we have the troll cold on a lie.
“Wounded” is what happens in combat. “Injured” is what happens in non-combat accidents.
Anyone in the military knows the difference.
I guess Young Boy is having a little trouble with “The Google” looking for his answer. Best of luck to you boy.
BushCo is planning an overthrow of the government as we know it.. If not stopped, there will BE no Congress to even “act” surprised, and tell us they had no clues…
Shouldnt be long now before Mr. Pres. Shrub announces some catastrophic event, so he can take over all government control, as per his May 9, 2007 Executive Order…
Be afraid… be very afraid…
Say Ridley, there’s somethin wrong with this ole blog.
Got nothin but hot air and liberals in it.
Can ya fix it?
Really Tom?
Is this why they have a “Wound Clinic? at Wesley Medical were I go on occasion?
Perhaps I should tell them to change the name to “Injury Clinic” for all the non-veterans that are patients at the clinic.
I think these two are a little more damning
“it was turbine failure from FOD from another aircraft spreading debris all over the sky.”
“no-fly zone thing.”
The post war mission was a named operation, but it was not “no-fly zone thing.”
Sorry Chuck, the Libs are all living off of welfare and posting on blogs all day.
Keeps em outta real trouble anyway.
Besides, ya expect em to actually get a job or somethin?
Watch out Tom… Dont Feed the….
CF2K–
I have found that the only questions reich-wingers won’t answer are of the “yes-no” type, probably because then they leave themselves open to an infinite number of logical inconsistencies.
Ask them what’s good about George W. Bush? and you won’t be able to shut them up.
Ask them if they support George W. Bush’s Iraq policy, and you get dead air.
You ask wingers if they support BushCo.’s latest legal move. Since that is a “yes or no” question, they know better than to utter a response which would open them to obvious hypocrisy and so you get nothing.
Ditto, for “have any right-wingers signed this pledge” (helluva find btw)?
Nothing but the wind . . .

And………. they’re OFF!!!
I get blasted for fear mongering about terrorists planning to rape and murder our children but

Gets a free pass on a president dissolving the congress?
Chas – hope you were kidding on this one – if not, eat a pill.
Bunch of real extra pungent crap on the blog today.
Worse then usual.
Maybe Capn had an extra real bad rear end collision last night.
Yea, right, Sol… I didnt post that one…. nic stealers are on the loose…
Ask them what’s good about George
Ask them if they support George W. Bush’s Iraq policy,
NOPE
You ask wingers if they support BushCo.’s latest legal move.
NOPE.
Whoops capn.
Yeah Sol, it was called Operation “Southern Watch.”
Before the first Gulf War, it was called “Operation Desert Shield” and during “Operation Desert Storm.”
And Sol, there is no reason to get catty and snide about my entries of calling it “No Fly Zone thing.” It was just a descriptive phrase.
If you want to call me a liar then come out with it.
SOL — THIS was my post from 12:36 p.m. note that what is above, doesnt exist >>> damn nic stealers >>>>
Posted by: chas. | July 20, 2007 at 12:36 PM
Kansas. you are a liar.
So chas, did YOU post this or not?
“BushCo is planning an overthrow of the government as we know it.. If not stopped, there will BE no Congress to even “act” surprised, and tell us they had no clues…”
YES that was my post… NOT whatever that was you quoted before
Okay Sol, feel better about yourself now?
You have turned into one bitter person from when I remember you first seeing you on the Blog.
There is more to the world than a Blog and you shouldn’t allow it to warp your fair assessment of others.
I know CapnAmerica is probably a decent man in real life, but he sure behaves poorly here on the Blog.
But anyway, I digress.
By the way, SOL, that sentiment has been all over the non-traaditional media for a couple of weeks now… not the drive-by, or the MSM… but lots of others… Oh, I did see a flicker of it on another thread… some guy named Roberts and some interview with a guy this morning???
Then chas, please eat a pill. The president, one like bush with a cheney back up or not, is not going to over throw congress.
And again, I bring up a terror plot to rape and kill our children and get – blown up -.
Chas sees the overthrow of government and gets a pass. C’mon guys !!!!
Kansas, Republican, Republikhan, Eagle Beak, and your many other aliases.
I served for 10 years. I served with zoomies, squids, jarheads, and crunchies. I know one when I see/hear one. I know one from their stories. I can spot a fake in a heartbeat. You have stolen too many other people’s stories Legion. You are not for real.
“President Bush will undergo a routine colonoscopy Saturday and temporarily hand presidential powers over to Vice President Dick Cheney, White House press secretary Tony Snow said.”
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,290160,00.html
When Bush wakes up after surgery, Iraq and Iran will have been blown off the map.
Rand McNally will make a mint selling new globes and atlases.
Now the president is planning to overthrow the government? WoW!
I thought you guys said if his brains were converted to gasoline, there wouldn’t be enough gas to drive an ant’s go-cart, halfway, around the inside of cheerio?
Are you saying he is smart enough to “take over the government”, whatever THAT is?
Are you crazy?
I’m trying not to get into overly critical assessment of others opinions Sol.
I will challenge people though if they make a claim against me that is patently false or saying that I’m lying.
Phillip Brownlee inferred I should behave, so I’m trying to do as he wishes.
If chas wants to make a statement like that he can. If you Sol wish to make a statement about what you wish you can.
Don’t expect me to respond to each and every statement.
Those who “walk on by” have disguised their comments about me as “the troll,” so I know they aren’t ignoring me or they wouldn’t make a comment about me.
Sol,
I no longer consider you a reich-winger. You have the capacity to form conclusions based on evidence and to change previous conclusions based on changing evidence.
That is no faint praise . . . especially, compared to number of people that seem incapable of doing that.
George W. Bush being the epitome, for example.
“I thought you guys said if his brains were converted to gasoline, there wouldn’t be enough gas to drive an ant’s go-cart, halfway, around the inside of cheerio?”
ROTFLMAO
Both to the statement and to your post.
Kansas,
Or should I say Republican-RepubliKhan-Khahn-Right Angle-Original Steve-JM-Kanzas-Eier-Uncle William-Gail et al.
You are a proven liar.
That’s why nobody wants to interact with you at any level.
You’ve completely discredited yourself here.
The only way you can get anyone to respond to you is to keep changing your nic so that we don’t know who we’re talking to.
The Eagle would ban you if they could.
You’re not wanted and no one pays you any heed.
But I get the feeling that you’re used to that . . .
Capn, respect and compliment greatly accepted. I still lean far more to the right than anything. I have moved over into the Libertarian arena. I would like to see this country lead by the constitution and an honest person.
I still believe you are WAAAAYY to socialist, but if we didn’t have both sides of the spectrum to debate, we would be the Village Voice.
Anyway, thanks. There are far too many people , on BOTH sides that keep their party blinders on and drive right on thru, just like mammy and daddy told them too.
I have to admit, it is nice to hear you telling the truth about hitlery too.
Cheers
If you were in the Army Sol, I doubt if you knew much about the Air Force unless it came from the times you were being transported.
I was stationed at Incirlik at the time. We were temporarily assigned to the composite Wing there.
I knew a lot of Army, Marines and Sailors too, but nothing to clue me in on who they were when they were writing on a Blog.
Do you think you were the only one that served Sol?
ROTFLMAOBoth to the statement and to your post.Posted by: SolDevVB | July 20, 2007 at 12:59 PM
Ya gotta laugh or get over it. I mean, geez, Bush supposedly was so evil as to deliberately kill the poor people living in trailers since Katrina, yesterday he was coohorting with Saudi to kill his own troops.
These guys give way too much credit for the one they have labeled the stupid president. Fact is, they have heaped more on Bush than any one man is capable of doing – republican or democrat!
And we should believe that, Kansas, because now you’re NOT LYING for once.
Or is this just another fake persona like the black conservative with the black grandmother.
That’s the problem, isn’t it.
“A liar is never believed, even when he tells the truth.” Aesop
Republikhan –
HAHAHA
Of course not. I was airborne. I spent a LOT of time on airfields. I deployed a LOT, I spent a lot of time on airfields. When bored, naturally inquisitive troops seek out their opposite number in another branch. I talked to lots and lots of Airmen.
On deployments, we were frequently comingled with other branches. At Ft. Bragg, we spent lots of time in the field with folks from Pope and Cherry Point.
My sister is a retired major in the Air Force.
So yeah, spent my time with the other branches. Have family from other branches.I think I have the background Khan.
Then, in the next 1 minute, explain what LALO and HALO are if you were in the Airborne unit. And how would I know such terms? :)
We’re through playing games with you, Troll.
Say, bye bye
SOL — apparently I wasnt on earlier when you made your post about a possible terror attack on school kids… I did hear about that on last nite’s news… And yes, that is a terrible thing… and no, I dont see it as fear mongering, so long as they have the background intelligence to suspect it happening….
What I am referring to is the Executive Order Bush signed on May 9, 2007, superceding his previous Executive Order, giving him FULL and complete control of all government functions, in the event of a catastrophic event, of his own definition….
THAT is what scares me too!! And if you combine that with Chertoff’s gut feeling… well, I think that pretty much anything is possible with this administration… NOT just with Bush himself… I am not sure he is smart enough to pull it off on his own…
KANSAS….CLUE…..Most of us don’t give a crap if you are lying or not because we don’t read anonymous graffitti.
Why should Sollie care what you think of his military experience?
Sollie, you don’t need his/her/it’sapproval of anything.
Kansas,That’s why nobody wants to interact with you at any level. The Eagle would ban you if they could.
You’re not wanted and no one pays you any heed.
Kansas keep right on posting. This guy writes as if he has ownership in this board, and has fooled himself that he is part of a fellowship of the blog.
You have as much right to post here as anyone else.
There is no requirement for someone to respond – you post your opinions.
Hopefully, under Hillary/Obama, our Nation will still allow political or other discussions which express both sides of an issue. Without fear of being flamed, or labeled a (eeeewwwhere it comes), a, a, (I can baaaaaaarely say it), atroll.
Sollie, Capn….
You’re talking to graffitti again.
Stop it.
That’s crazier than the twit writing the inflammatory crap.
Thanks Hotdog.
I know about the Capn. He signs his post as “The Management” on occasion. He is far beyond ego, he is way out there.
Sorry Tracy, I don’t know you very well, but “Hi.”
There seem to be more “multiple personalities” on this Blog, than there are in “Six Faces of Eve”
And its really hilarious when one of them backs up the other… LOL
I guess Sol is having a hard time “Googling” those terms that every Airborne should know immediately what they are.
Many-named lying troll,
You’re a LIAR, so we have no reason to believe you.http://blogs.kansas.com/weblog/2007/07/open-thread-713.html#comment-75802340
And you’ve posted other lies on this blog .
YOU are responsible for what you post, and YOU destroyed your credibility.
Low Altitude Low opening. High Altitude Low opening.
And there you go showing your ignorance. Those are special operations tactics. It is HAHO and HALO.
HAHO is used for recon. HALO is used for discreet infil.
I dont think SOL really gives a darn one way or the other what you think, Kansas…
The Blog is not here for your personal amusement, and your own personal entertainment…
No matter how hard you might try, the Blog will NOT be taken over by Trolls…
Ft. Benning Georgia. Class 11913. Charlie company. Stick Sgt. Stafferdy.
You know the difference between a stick and a chalk Khan?
I learned those from ignorance Sol?
Actually, I first learned them at Bad Tolz Germany. There was a SOS operations training center there in which joint exercises were practiced. Included Air Force (Ground Support and Air Support), Army – Green Berets and Airborne and of course NATO troops of various flavors.
So, I give you a B+ on accuracy, a D- for being tardy.
You’re right about the special operation terms as that is where I learned of them from the briefings.
A few airborne ended up in the tops of some pine trees during that exercise. :)
Give up on your Young Man persona Khan? Get called out on that one too?
Forgive me if I am wrong, but the last time I had a colonoscopy run, I was not under total anesthesia… Does the President get a different kind of preparation for that procedure than normal folks?? And why would the VP be in control for that short of time??
Also, I wonder what might happen, if the President DID issue an order for the Military to patrol the streets to enforce Martial Law, and the military said, NO??
I’m not young man nor am I eagle beak or hotdog or any other poster.
If you don’t believe me write Phillip Brownlee.
You are getting as bad as the Capn in assigning nics to anyone they please.
Wow, now Chas speaks for other posters.
I’ve seen it all.
Since you’d like to get into infil techniques Khan, what is the preferred altitude for combat airborne infil? What is the minimum and maximum for training purposes?
What is the maximum wind speed allowed, in training, for an airborne operation?
What is the preferred airborne dismount method for C-5, C-141 and C-130?
What is it called when and airborne troop’s deployment line (do you even know the correct term for this?) does not function?
Well, Kansas, if it wasnt just so bloomin’ obvious, nobody would be saying it…
And Phil would know this why???
“B+ on accuracy”
for being 100% correct AND correcting the question. Huh – go figure
Sol, some folks dont know perfection when it bites them in the butt… LOL
Chas,
I had a colonoscopy and endoscropy (sp) in the same day!And yes, I was out of commission for at least a solid hour afterward, and groggy after that for a few hours. The doctor tells you that you cannot drive to the treatment alone – as they will not let you drive away afterward.
I’ve also had them separately. It was like I was in and out – I can remember pieces, but not the whole thing. (Best darn drugs ever to put me out).
I remember waking up and the wife being there. Afterward, it was like being drunk but without the vomit.
Conclusion/bottom line: Our nation should ALWAYS have someone at it’s helm. It takes a short time for someone to launch a missle at us.
You know the difference between a stick and a chalk Khan?
Can’t say I heard of those terms, but I wasn’t enlisted either.
I’m guessing perhaps what we called hard and soft stripes. The Specialist patch was considered soft or the Staff (usually support) and the striped NCO’s were considered in the direct Line command.
In the Air Force we had Line and Staff designations, but it wasn’t indicated by stripes or rank insignia. It was done by pocket badges. Like the “Pocket Rocket” was for those who worked with missiles; Wings for those who flew; the Medics wore some sort of a Caduesus thing; Security Police had their own badge and so on and so forth.
Here’s a soft ball for you Khan,
What are the two types of ‘chutes used by the Army and what is their main difference?
Not enlisted?? Kansas is now claiming to be an officer??
“What is the maximum wind speed allowed, in training, for an airborne operation?
What is the preferred airborne dismount method for C-5, C-141 and C-130?”
I have no clue Sol, these are Jump master terms. I flew on modified C-135’s in which if you jumped out of those, you would most likely get cut in half by the rear stabilizer or at least get caught up and get drug down with the aircraft.
Chalk and stick have nothing to do with rank. If you ever had any hand in airborne operations, the terms are used quite frequently.
As to the other questions Khan?
Those are airborne terms Sol, they have nothing to do with the Air Force. As I said, I wasn’t on any type of aircraft that involved jumping out of with a parachute but only in the event of emergency.
Wind speed is determined by the zoomies. The Jump Master has not instrumentation. And you would have at least a ball park estimate if you’d ever been on an aborted missin.
“What is the preferred airborne dismount method for C-5, C-141 and C-130?”“I have no clue Sol, “
But you wanted to grill me. And you have experience with Air Borne ops. So which is it Khan, you have experience or you don’t.
Now every question I’ve asked has been straight forward and is common knowledge to both zoomies and crunchies…..
“Those are airborne terms Sol, they have nothing to do with the Air Force. As I said, I wasn’t on any type of aircraft that involved jumping out of with a parachute but only in the event of emergency.”Posted by: Kansas | July 20, 2007 at 01:41 PM
You started this Khan. You wanted to grill me, now you can’t face the heat. You go from being an expert on the deployment techniques of Air Borne missions to — uh I don’t know…
These are common terms. They are not Air Borne specific a the Army, Marines and Air Force all share them. And I even soft balled you and gave you the terms and safe limits most used by the Air Force. But you knew that.
So once again Khan. You are a liar.
Pssst — Sol He is portending to be “not enlisted” So, does that me he claims to be an Officer?
* me = mean
No Sol, you asked very specific Airborne Operations questions which have nothing to do with what the Air Force does.
Why would I know much about Airborne Operations when it is primarily an Army convention?
We had Para Rescue and Combat Controllers that jumped, but those guys are usually co-stationed with other units near zones of interest. Those are the guys, along with the various jump ready aircraft that would know about such terms.
The C-130 is also used as a gunship, Med-Evac, General Cargo, Surveillance and general utility.
I doubt an Airman on a C-130 Gunship could tell you much about jump terms either.
Roger that Chas.
Ohhhh now its changed from a C-135, to a C-130
Then, in the next 1 minute, explain what LALO and HALO are if you were in the Airborne unit. And how would I know such terms? :)
Posted by: Kansas | July 20, 2007 at 01:13 PM
Yes, I wanted to see if you knew what they were as I understand it, LALO is not often used except by Special Forces. I remember someone telling me that LALO is discouraged now because it is just too dangerous.
Whatever Sol, I tried to keep it friendly, but you seem not to want to do so.

Here’s a thing Sol, go to McConnell AFB here in Wichita and ask the first few Airman of any rank what those terms mean. I bet you will get a lot of “I don’t know” because they are not Air Force terms.
Oh wait, you can’t drive onto McConnell like I can, because I have an authorized base sticker on my windshield.
And don’t you live somewhere else? Where was it? California?
I propose that after we take back the Senate and the House and the Presidency to a large majority, we pass a law that says we can unseal the Presidential files early so we can find out just how much damage and lies Bush actually pulled off.
Then, in the next 1 minute, explain what LALO and HALO are if you were in the Airborne unit. And how would I know such terms? :)
Posted by: Kansas | July 20, 2007 at 01:13 PM
WHY are you guys feeding this damn troll?
Sorry KFG, it was a bit out there wasn’ it.
But I have just as much right to post here as anyone else and will continue to do so.
Why would I ask an Airman. You now state that you were an officer involved with multinational special operations Air Borne infil operations in a foreign country.
AND NOW FROM THE BLOG REPORTER BOX:
The current interrogation over the validity of Kansas being an air force person or not has been going on for over an hour now.
Sol and Kansas are neck-n-neck, but it appears Sol is up on points.
Once in awhile the poster Kas jumps down the throat of the person in the hot seat and calls him a LIAR.
And now, for a commercial break from our sponsor:
Subject: 10 cent drinks
Four retired guys were walking down the street in Ft. Meyers, Florida, when they saw a sign that said, “Old Timer’s Bar” “All Drinks 10 Cents!”
They looked at each other, then went in, thinking this is too good tobe true.
The old bartender said in a voice that carried across the room, “Comeon in and let me pour one for you! What’ll it be, Gentlemen?” Allfour asked for a martini. In short order, the bartender served up four iced martinis, shaken, not stirred, and said, “That’ll be 10 cents each, please.”
The four men stared at the bartender for a moment, looked at eachother….then paid the 40 cents. After the second round, which costthem under a dollar, their curiosity got the best of them. Finally, one of the men said, “How can you afford to serve martinis as good asthese for only a dime apiece?”
“Well, I’m a retired tailor from Boston, and I always wanted to own abar. Last year I hit the lottery for $50 million and decided to open this place. Every drink costs a dime, wine, liquor, beer, all the same.”
“Wow, that’s quite a story” said one of the men.
As they continued to sip their martinis, they couldn’t help but noticethe other three guys at the end of the bar who didn’t have a drink infront of them….and hadn’t ordered anything all the while they were there. One of the men gestured toward the men with no drinks and asked the bartender, “What’s with them, they’re not drinking?”
“Oh, they’re retired farmers, from a little town up in Kansas. They’re waiting for happy hour at 5 o’clock when my drinks are half price.”
Sol,
Airman is a term that covers any rank in the Air Force. It’s the same as calling someone in the Army a soldier or in the Navy – a sailor.
You don’t call officers soldiers, but you knew that.
being an officer and all
Max,
I’ll be back in a couple of hours after the games.
TRACY,
Your 1:54 PM post describes what the many-named troll does.
SolDevVB,
Remember that the troll posts lies, nit-picks, and insults — just so someone will talk to it.
OK guys, my bad. I got pissy when –someone- tried to call me out on my service.
I’m done now. I’ll go take my time out.
Y’all have a good and safe weekend.
Don’t drink and drive.Avoid mixing small farm animals and power tools.Avoid mixing small farm animals and Vaseline.Ah hell, just avoid small farm animals.
Safety briefing completed.
SolDevVB, that’s ROFL funny…
What Levels of Formaldehyde Are Normal?
Formaldehyde is normally present at low levels, usually less than 0.03 ppm, in both outdoor and indoor air. The outdoor air in rural areas has lower concentrations while urban areas have higher concentrations. Residences or offices that contain products that release formaldehyde to the air can have formaldehyde levels of greater than 0.03 ppm. Products that may add formaldehyde to the air include particleboard used as flooring underlayment, shelving, furniture and cabinets; MDF in cabinets and furniture; hardwood plywood wall panels, and urea-formaldehyde foam used as insulation. As formaldehyde levels increase, illness or discomfort is more likely to occur and may be more serious.
Efforts have been made by both the government and industry to reduce exposure to formaldehyde. CPSC voted to ban urea-formaldehyde foam insulation in 1982. That ban was over-turned in the courts, but this action greatly reduced the residential use of the insulation product. CPSC, the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and other federal agencies have historically worked with the pressed wood industry to further reduce the release of the chemical from their products. A 1985 HUD regulation covering the use of pressed wood products in manufactured housing was designed to ensure that indoor levels are below 0.4 ppm. However, it would be unrealistic to expect to completely remove formaldehyde from the air. Some persons who are extremely sensitive to formaldehyde may need to reduce or stop using these products.
Exposure Level in Indoor AirThe World Health Organization guideline for indoor air formaldehyde concentration is 0.08 ppm (0.1mg/m3). The California Air Resources Board recommends an “action level” of 0.1 ppm and a “target level” of 0.05 ppm or lower for homes.
Formaldehyde is normally present at low levels, usually less than 0.03 ppm in both outdoor and indoor air. The out door air in rural area ha lower concentrations while urban areas have higher concentrations. Residences or offices that contain products that release formaldehyde to the air can have formaldehyde levels of greater than 0.03 ppm (2).
Average concentrations in older houses with UFFI are generally well below 0.1 ppm. In homes with significant amounts of new pleased wood products, levels can be greater than 0.3 ppm (6). Table 3 is the summary of the formaldehyde levels in residential environments.
Highest average concentrations are reported for mobile homes. The high concentrations of formaldehyde in mobile homes are primarily caused by the large quantity of the decking, decorative hardwood plywood wall covering, particleboard shelving, and cabinetry made form a variety of pressed wood products. With few exceptions, average formaldehyde levels in UFFI houses are typically in the range of 0.5-0.06 ppm.

You don’t call officers soldiers, but you knew that.
Posted by: SolDevVB | July 20, 2007 at 02:09 PM
You don’t?
Let’s see:
I do recall a statement by some General, what was his name? MacArthur about using the term soldier to describe himself.
You’re right about someone going up to an Army Officer and not calling him soldier, especially if the talker is enlisted.
But the general term for describing any member of the Army is soldier.
You do hear “Military Service Member” a lot these days though.
ksfarmgrrl, thanks for the DU link… very funny comments.
And the 2 photos below “Dr Schlumpy will see you now” are great!! I’m doing a hardcopy of the 2nd one.
P.S. Oops–my bad.

My goodness, that was entertaining!
Note to self:Self, don’t get into it with Sol.
Way to mangle a troll!
Is the coast clear?
Okay, normally I always say don’t talk to the TROLL because that’s all it wants.
But sometimes one just can’t hold oneself back.
Nice job, Mr. Sol!
You’re right, you shouldn’t have to take guff about your service from the biggest pretender on the Blog.
That little exchange reminds me of when the TROLL was bragging about all this computer knowledge it had, and it had the misfortune to start using a bunch of terms that it thought no one would understand.
Turns out, our friend Tom is an experienced programmer.
What was left of the TROLL after that exchange wasn’t worth sweeping up into a tea cup.

Thanks for the news, KSGrrl.
Hmmm . . . Dennis Hastart, or as we leftist affectionately call him “Fat B*st*rd,” is going to resign.
Wonder if his telephone number is on Larry Flynt’s list.
Larry claims that he has 30 names of gov’t officials who frequented the DC Madame, including at least one Senator.
Please, God, let it be Pat Roberts . . .

Where’s “the lotion” dialogue from?
Tell me troll, have the lambs stopped crying?

Cue the scary sci-fi music:

Well Tracy, I asked Brownlee about the constant harassment as well.
So, I’d be careful if I were you, if you don’t want to get on the “list.”

It made sense that someone would ask the question…
Interesting statement in the latest Plame Story:
“”This case is not just about what top government officials did to Valerie and me.” Wilson said in a statement. “We brought this suit because we strongly believe that politicizing intelligence ultimately serves only to undermine the security of our nation.”"
This never seem to stop the Democrats politicizing intelligence gathering in the Bush Administration?
Hypocrites? I think so.

Heh…I remember that. The troll strung a bunch of jargon together and pretended it meant something. What a loser!
Troll neer did say what “rank” of officer it claimed to be, since it claimed not to be enlisted…
And you never answered any of my questions either Tom. As usual, you went off on how great you were and said that SQL servers are for amateurs.

We Don’t Torture, but if we did torture, then this directive will end torturing of suspects!Bush alters rules for interrogations By DEB RIECHMANN, Associated Press Writer59 minutes ago
WASHINGTON – President Bush signed an executive order Friday prohibiting cruel and inhuman treatment, including humiliation or denigration of religious beliefs, in the detention and interrogation of terrorism suspects.
ADVERTISEMENTThe White House declined to say whether the CIA currently has a detention and interrogation program, but said that if it did it must adhere to the guidelines outlined in the executive order. The order targets captured al-Qaida terrorists who have information on attack plans or the whereabouts of the group’s senior leaders.
“Last September, the president explained how the CIA’s program had disrupted attacks and saved lives, and that it must continue on a sound legal footing,” White House press secretary Tony Snow said. “The president has insisted on clear legal standards so that CIA officers involved in this essential work are not placed in jeopardy for doing their job — and keeping America safe from attacks.”
The executive order was the result of legislation Bush signed in October that authorized military trials of terrorism suspects. The court system was designed to protect classified information and eliminated some of the rights defendants are guaranteed in civilian and military courts.
It also gave Bush wide latitude in interrogating and detaining captured enemy combatants. While it outlines specific war crimes such as rape, the legislation said the president can “interpret the meaning and application” of international standards set by the Geneva Conventions when authorizing less severe interrogation procedures.
The Supreme Court had ruled in June 2006 that trying detainees in military tribunals violated U.S. and international law, so Bush urged Congress to change the law. He also insisted that the law authorize CIA agents to use tough methods to interrogate suspected terrorists.
The United States has been criticized by European allies and others around the world over interrogation techniques such as “waterboarding,” in which prisoners are strapped to a plank over water and are made to fear that they may be drowned. Critics also have complained that the CIA has run secret prisons on European soil and mistreated prisoners during clandestine flights in and out of Europe.
Bush has repeatedly said that the United States does not practice torture but has not spelled out specific banned procedures.
Leonard Rubenstein, director of Physicians for Human Rights, said the executive order was inadequate.
“What is needed now is repudiation of brutal and cruel interrogation methods. General statements like this are inadequate, particularly after years of evidence that torture was authorized at the highest levels and utilized by U.S. forces,” he said.
The White House did not detail what types of interrogation procedures would be allowed. But it did offer parameters, saying any conditions of confinement and interrogation practices could not include:
_Torture or other acts of violence serious enough to be considered comparable to murder, torture, mutilation and cruel or inhuman treatment.
_Willful or outrageous acts of personal abuse done to humiliate or degrade someone in a way so serious that any reasonable person would “deem the acts to be beyond the bounds of human decency, such as sexual or sexually indecent acts undertaken for the purpose of humiliation, forcing the individual to perform sexual acts or to pose sexually, threatening the individual with sexual mutilation.
_Acts intended to denigrate the religion, religious practices, or religious objects of an individual.
The order also says that detainees must receive basic necessities, including adequate food and water, shelter from the elements, necessary clothing, protection from extreme heat and cold and essential medical care. It says whatever interrogation practices used must be determined safe on an individual basis. To ensure the professional operation and safety of the program, it directs the CIA director to issue written policies to govern the program, including guidelines for CIA personnel.
The executive order has been months in the making, with some in the CIA increasingly eager to get the rules of the road laid out. Asked if one of the agency’s most extreme techniques — waterboarding — would be allowed, a senior intelligence official declined to provide any specifics. But, the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity about the order, said: “It would be wrong to assume the program of the past transfers to the future.”
While the order did not provide many specifics, CIA Director Michael Hayden asked the Justice Department to prepare a legal opinion on techniques the agency can use, and the CIA has prepared guidance to its operatives in the field, according to the senior official.
In a call with reporters, senior administration officials repeatedly refused to say what specific kinds of interrogation techniques would be barred, arguing that doing so could tip off al-Qaida members training to withstand hostile questioning. But sleep is not among the basic necessities outlined in the order, one official said, opening the possibility that sleep deprivation is among the approved interrogation methods.
The order also does not permit detainees to contact their family members or have access to the International Committee of the Red Cross. Explaining why, one official said those provisions are not part of the part of the Geneva Conventions that apply to these kinds of detainees.

Sunday, July 15, 2007Beware the Power of the JewBy Patrick Grimm
All of history attests in one fulminating and tumultuous voice “Beware the power of the Jew!” Men strewn throughout the annals of time, men of every political persuasion, social standing, occupation, men unconnected by country or origin or class or creed or religion attest to one blaring and incontrovertible fact. They warn us, each in their own individualistic way, of the dangers of Jewish primacy, Jewish purse, Jewish power and Jewish prowess. They cannot afford to be ignored, for we discard their words at our own peril and at the risk of our own endangerment, indeed our own potential extinction. These great men, great for so many different and antithetic reasons, all knew one thing, and if they concurred or agreed on nothing else, they agreed on this. They boomed in their writings, in their speeches, in their orations, their words dripping with ominous and ill-boding truth “Beware the power of the Jew!”
What are the chances, the odds that so many disconnected men, scattered across an expansive globe, never having met each other, living centuries, sometimes millennia apart, could all attest to the same thing, and describe it often in terms, in phrases, in patterns that seem so similar, so eerily familiar. Some commentators, fools though they are, will try to describe this as simple “anti-Semitism” and this might be believed if these observations about the Jews had been noted in one, two or even merely three places. An anomaly, perhaps, if it were so isolated. But no, the statistical odds of these warnings occurring over and over and over, scattered like stones across the history of mankind, throughout his rise and evolution upon the globe, are billions to one. For all the warnings given were first-hand observances of the treachery of the Jews, their scheming, their unmitigated hatred for all of the Gentile world, their mighty strength of their united front, allied against the “Other” fiscally and often religiously, the vitriolic power of their Talmud or their Torah egging them on.
No, my friends, we must not shut out the lessons our forebears tried to teach. Before we take up our chains and call them jewelry, we must comprehend the height, length and breadth of Jewish historical crimes.
But before we scan all the registers of history, we must glance about us, somewhere closer to home at just a fraction of the deadly and endless drop-down menu of their criminal iniquities.
We cannot silence the blood that cries from the ground, spilled by Jewish commissars executing their brand of Talmudic Jewish Bolshevism against 60 million Russian people, whose country they imprisoned with gulag “justice.” Soon, when their masterdom of the Gentile cattle is unabridged, they will do the same to us, slaughtering Americans for the crime of “anti-Semitism.” Do you doubt it? Even now they are passing ‘hate’ laws, allowing Jews to jail anyone who criticizes them or challenges their superior reign over us.
We must not ignore the killing of US soldiers by the Israeli surprise attack on the USS Liberty, orchestrated and ordered by the Israeli government to instigate an American war with Egypt.
Our citizens, 3000 of them, were blown to bits by the callous and calculated Israeli false flag of 9/11, blamed subsequently on Arabs only to justify more carnage for the filthy Zionist state, the sex slave capital of the world, where beautiful blonde-haired, blue-eyed white women are sexually violated, raped and sodomized by sick Jews stoked to hatred of the Goyim by their “holy books.”
We must never forget that we fight and kill, and our precious American soldiers are maimed and mutilated and murdered in the proxy war in Iraq for the most nefarious and criminal nation on the face of God’s earth, that being the Jewish state of Israel.
And we must never forget that they have managed to cover up these crimes, concealing them from most of the American people because of their almost omniscient dominion over our government and media.
Cicero, Martin Luther, Ulysses Grant, Henry Ford, William Shakespeare, Winston Churchill, Richard Wagner, Charles Lindbergh, Voltaire, Thomas Aquinas, H.L. Mencken, Ezra Pound, Francis Bacon, Napoleon Bonaparte, Henry Adams and so many more men of renown all tried to forewarn humanity. They sounded the cry, they arose to divulge what they knew. But alas, we would not listen.
This is a lesson that history has tried to tattoo, stamp upon our minds, indelibly if we will so receive it. But we haven’t. Even now our minds have been dulled, our thoughts distracted and muddled, our warning signals stymied and crossed by propaganda. Our taboo-meters need to be shattered. The lesson just won’t take. It doesn’t register as the cautionary monitorial scream it still sounds like as it shrieks, begging us, for the sake of our countries, our children and our future to heed its exhortations. It admonishes, it entreats us to acknowledge the verisimilitude of its simplistic words, to guard ourselves, to inculcate its reality and inseminate its truth like a seed that will grow into a horror we must act upon. “Listen to me! I have but one lone axiom for you!” all of accumulated human history and human wisdom pleads. “Beware the power of the Jew!”

He was and is RIGHT!
“The Jews were now free to indulge in their most fervent fantasies of mass murder of helpless victims. Christians were dragged from their beds, tortured and killed. Some were actually sliced to pieces, bit by bit, while others were branded with hot irons, their eyes poked out to induce unbearable pain. Others were placed in boxes with only their heads, hands and legs sticking out. Then hungry rats were placed in the boxes to gnaw upon their bodies. Some were nailed to the ceiling by their fingers or by their feet, and left hanging until they died of exhaustion. Others were chained to the floor and left hanging until they died of exhaustion. Others were chained to the floor and hot lead poured into their mouths. Many were tied to horses and dragged through the streets of the city, while Jewish mobs attacked them with rocks and kicked them to death. Christian mothers were taken to the public square and their babies snatched from their arms. A red Jewish terrorist would take the baby, hold it by the feet, head downward and demand that the Christian mother deny Christ. If she would not, he would toss the baby into the air, and another member of the mob would rush forward and catch it on the tip of his bayonet.Pregnant Christian women were chained to trees and their babies cut out of their bodies. There were many places of public execution in Russia during the days of the revolution, one of which was described by the American Rohrbach Commission: ‘The whole cement floor of the execution hall of the Jewish Cheka of Kiev was flooded with blood; it formed a level of several inches. It was a horrible mixture of blood, brains and pieces of skull. All the walls were bespattered with blood. Pieces of brains and of scalps were sticking to them. A gutter of 25 centimeters wide by 25 centimeters deep and about 10 meters long was along its length full to the top with blood. Some bodies were disemboweled, others had limbs chopped off, some were literally hacked to pieces. Some had their eyes put out, the head, face and neck and trunk were covered with deep wounds. Further on, we found a corpse with a wedge driven into its chest. Some had no tongues. In a corner we discovered a quantity of dismembered arms and legs belonging to no bodies that we could locate.’” (Defender Magazine, October 1933).

This will make like the sixth time I posted to show that cosmos has called me a liar when the same reference shows that I am telling the truth.
From the same Website where Cosmos persistently said I lied about high energy targeting lasers:
“The next major step for the test program is combining what was started with the tracking of another aircraft with the Target Illuminator Laser, Dr. White said, to being able to then project out the Surrogate High-Energy Laser, called the SHEL.”
Get it cosmos, High Energy Laser that paints the target, aka targeting laser?

Note to fellow bloggers: My apologies for tossing the troll a crumb.
If someone hasn’t already, a link should be put up.
For some reason, this is not being widely reported. The “liberal media”?
Anywho, Kate Obeirne and other conservative columnists had a meeting with the boy king last Saturday. She reports that bush (paraphrasing here) “Feels he needs to get the American people to the place of accepting a long term US presence in Iraq.”
Now of course, most SANE people figured this was his agenda all along. But? WHY is this not being reported? This is NOT the mission bush lied us into. Would anyone continue to support bush in this if he was HONEST about it.
Does anyone accept the proposition of a long term US presence in Iraq? I’ve been against the war since before the war. But putting myself in other shoes, even if I HAD been in favor of this, I would be damned pissed off to find I’d been lied to….AGAIN.
Note to fellow Bloggers:
Tom shows his extreme hatred towards anyone who doesn’t have his identical view.
How is someone like this allowed in our State Capitol as a Lobbyist?
But I guess haters even need representations. Is that it Tom?
J R,
When did Bush (not anyone else) give you a specific Time Frame that the Iraq war would be over?
I’ll wait.
Forgiveness heals all Tom!! BTW, have a good weekend!! Tell KFG Hello for me!!

Chas,
You have a good weekend as well. Aren’t you heading west too? If so, drive safely!
Yea, I am heading west too… but more southwest than you are…I hope the roads arent too full… I dont feel like fighting heavy traffic this weekend…
Multi nics kook JM,
bush did NOT tell America that “we will need to have a long term US presence in Iraq.”
Oh and you are of course free to support that. Please see your local recruiter! And as Keith Olberman said, bush should also go fight HIS war, HIMSELF. But the rest of America is NOT along for that ride.
And will our young service people ever trust us again? I’m doubting it.
Old-line Republican warns ’something’s in the works’ to trigger a police state
Muriel KanePublished: Thursday July 19, 2007Thom Hartmann began his program on Thursday by reading from a new Executive Order which allows the government to seize the assets of anyone who interferes with its Iraq policies.

Chas,
I’ll be in Trego County tomorrow, Pratt on Sunday. Pittsburg next week, Topeka the week after. Kind of the “Grand Tour of Kansas.”
I’ve got to go. But I’ll be back Sunday.
A good topic for a thread that. Do you support a long term open ended US commitment in Iraq?Takers? Let’s have a vote.
I vote no.

The TROLL claimed it was in Air Force ROTC in college.
So, yeah, he’d be some kind of officer if any of that were true . . .
I vote no too, JR.
Good to see you on, dude.

any details re: time, place, etc. for the First Annual (sorta) Lib/Con Shoot-off?
I’m looking forward to it, and cleaning up the 1911. Hope we’re still on, all.
Oh, and Chas: do you think you can do the chicken little bit just a little more hysterically? While I’m laughing, I’d like to be ROFL.
Thanks CapN — I missed that one… I will remember that next time around…
Wow…. lots of travels for you Tom… I will be in Seward County this weekend… and back Sunday nite…

THIS is the article I mentioned earlier, that some of you good folks took off on me for citing…. Especially for you GMC>>

Surrogate = a substitute.
Chas -
short answer: Yes.
That’s right cosmos, a surrogate. I still don’t think they can use the COIL yet, but dunno, haven’t been around that technology in 20+ years.
The lasers I worked around were configured differently than the ones they use today.
The sister program which tied into the Airborne laser lab experiments had a test bed facility for practice firings. Then entire building was built on a water bed shock absorber because when the mega capacitors that stored the energy were opened it would literally shake the whole building and earth around the building.
One of the Techs left a giant crescent wrench “near” the capacitors one day and it got melted (mostly vaporized) in milliseconds when the capacitors “fired.” I think they gave that melted wrench to him in a frame when he PCS’d (left the base.) :)
I still don’t know how they whittled down all that energy to fit on a aircraft or maybe they didn’t. Just rumors I hear now and then about that particular weapon.
Bumper sticker seen today:
“Renewable Energy is Homeland Security”
We are all capable of believing things which we know to be untrue, and then, when we are finally proved wrong, impudently twisting the facts so as to show that we were right. Intellectually, it is possible to carry on this process for an indefinite time: the only check on it is that sooner or later a false belief bumps up against solid reality, usually on a battlefield.George Orwell (1946)
A great nation is like a great man:When he makes a mistake, he realizes it.Having realized it, he admits it.Having admitted it, he corrects it.He considers those who point out his faults as his most benevolent teachers.–Lao Zzu
oops, should have been Lao Tzu in the last one…
Steven Davis,
“Renewable Energy is Homeland Security” is very true.
I’d also put next to it,”Higher Energy Efficiency is Homeland Security”
Imagine how much better the world would be today if we had taken those paths.
And thank you for the very relevant quotes.
You’re welcome, cosmos. Those quotes were in a book I got today which is entitled:
_Mistakes were made: But Not by ME)_
by social psychologists Carol Tavris and Elliot Aronson. It is a treatise on how cognitive dissonance keeps us locked into self-defeating patterns of lying to one’s self. Aronson did a lot of the early experimental work on cognitive dissonance.
William Gibson, a near-future science fiction writer who came up with the term “cyber-space” has a bar in many of his books that is called “Cognitive Dissidents”. I like that name. I could visit a bar so-named.
Hey GMC70,
I apologize, it kinda got put on the back burner. Seems my boy and I have different weekends available.
My wife and I had an anniversary this month and for 19 the gift is a target pistol. I bought her a real sweet Baretta .22 semi auto target pistol and she can’t wait to get out and out shoot me with it.
It would be a very good pistol for anyone with no hand gun experience to start out on.
The boy has a pistol on order that should be in anytime now. We will have a variety of guns available for any one that would like to participate that doesn’t have a gun.
I’ll get with the boy on Sunday and we’l1 try to come up with some dates in we can both be at.

What is Chas, Capn’s retarded lil brother? Or gay boy lover?
Yes Chas. If you are in the military and you are not enlisted, then you are ________
an Officer?
Rosehill, Capn reminds me of the gay couple next door. The “he” looks sorta normal, but the she, looks like a 16 year old little boy. Don’t know if they are legal or not.
Hank, I hope you got her a dozen roses to go along with that gun you bought her!! I wouldn’t like it if all I got for my anniversary was a damn hand gun!
I’m heading to Venezuela tomorrow, can’t wait to get away from all the crap going on in this country for a while, even though I know I’ll kiss the ground when I get back.Nothing makes you appreciate the good ‘ole USA more than leaving her once in a while.
Well, why don’t you ask them Patton?
I see the brown boots acomin. Wait, is that GW inviting them?Under pressure on Iraq, U.S. makes overtures to U.N. By Claudia ParsonsFri Jul 20, 4:30 PM ET
UNITED NATIONS (Reuters) – Under pressure to start withdrawing U.S. troops, the Bush administration wants the United Nations to play an expanded role in Iraq as a mediator both internally and with neighboring countries.
ADVERTISEMENTZalmay Khalilzad, a former U.S. ambassador to Iraq who now represents Washington at the United Nations, wrote in an opinion piece in The New York Times on Friday that the world body could “help internationalize the effort to stabilize the country.”
“While reasonable people can differ on whether the coalition should have intervened against Saddam Hussein’s regime, it is clear at this point that the future of Iraq will have a profound effect on the region and, in turn, on peace and stability in the world,” Khalilzad wrote.
The U.S. overtures to the United Nations come as Bush and his generals appealed for more time to allow a surge in troop levels to bring stability to Iraq. The Democratic-led Congress has been pushing for a timetable to start withdrawing troops.
The United Nations has been deeply reluctant to work in Iraq since 23 of its top people were killed by a bomb at its Baghdad headquarters in August 2003.
But new U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, a former South Korean foreign minister, met U.S. President George W. Bush this week and promised U.N. help with rebuilding Iraq.
Khalilzad said Washington endorsed Ban’s call for an expanded U.N. role. “The United Nations possesses certain comparative advantages for undertaking complex internal and regional mediation efforts,” he said.
His remarks were in sharp contrast to the war of words between Washington and the United Nations in the run-up to the March 2003 invasion and in the years since then. Ban’s predecessor Kofi Annan said later the invasion was “illegal.”
NEW ENVOY
Khalilzad noted that a new U.N. envoy for Iraq would be appointed in the coming weeks. “With the right envoy and mandate (the United Nations) is the best vehicle to address the two fundamental issues driving the crisis in Iraq,” he said.
First, on the domestic side: “In the role of mediator, it has inherent legitimacy and the flexibility to talk to all parties, including elements outside the political process.”
“Second, the United Nations is also uniquely suited to work out a regional framework to stabilize Iraq,” he said.
“Several of Iraq’s neighbors — not only Syria and Iran but also some friends of the United States — are pursuing destabilizing policies,” he said. “The United States supports a new mandate that creates a United Nations-led multilateral diplomatic process to contain the regional competition that is adding fuel to the fire of Iraq’s internal conflict.”
Iraq has expressed concern about a major Turkish troop buildup on its northern border which Ankara, a NATO ally of Washington, has said comes in response to its concerns over Kurdish rebels from Turkey based over the border in Iraq.
There are also suspicions that several countries in the region, including Iran, Saudi Arabia and Jordan, are funding parties in the sectarian conflict between Sunni Arabs and Shi’ites that has killed tens of thousands of people.
The United Nations is already involved in the International Compact with Iraq, a partnership with Baghdad and the international community involving debt relief and other economic support. In May, Ban held a meeting with 60 nations, including Iraq’s key debtors, in Sharm al-Sheikh.
So now the Kahn has eviolved into an Officer!!! Amazing!!

Rosehill: Is KANSAS incapable of answering his own questions??
Well, you all have a nice weekend… I am outta here till Sunday nite, or Monday… depending on circumstances…
Good nite, Good luck, and God bless, who/whatever you conceive God to be!!
Hank writes that he got his wife a gun, and “she can’t wait to get out and out shoot me with it.”
. . . .
I have nothing to add to that.
Rosehill and Patton–
Trolls like you seem to think calling somebody “gay” is some huge insult or another.
As I always say when one of your ilk levels the charge, I’m not good looking enough to be gay.
But thanks for showing the world that while all conservatives aren’t homophobes, all homophobes ARE conservative.
Oh wait, Hank.
I misread what you wrote.
I thought you said that she couldn’t wait to go out and SHOOT you with it.
Missed the second “out” as in out shoot.
My bad . . .
If I gave my wife a pistol as a gift, that’s what she’d want to do with it — shoot me.
My wife is a better shot than I am, she tried out for the Olympics when she was in college. My boy can out shoot me, he’s a marksmanship instructor in the Marines.
Hell, with my eye sight, half you libs can probably out shoot me. . . . But I’m still willing to put a little money on it!

So, Hank:
If the 19th is the “target pistol” anniversary, please write my wife and tell her that the 27th is the famous M1 Garrand anniversary; or perhaps the AR-15 anniversary; heck, I’d even be glade to take the compact 1911 anniversary.
I’ll be forever grateful.
Well, actually GM,
My wife has already informed me that 20 is going to be a little different.
In fact, based on a few of our conversations lately you might not want a whole lot of my help!
I did take her out to eat at Carraba’s also. That got me a little reprieve.
