Melting snowman won debate

Did you bloggers watch the Democratic presidential debatelast night? Did you think the YouTube questions added much? Some of the videos did personalize certain issues, and the quirky ones helped liven up the debate. But the candidates still tended to fall back on their talking points. FYI: It was a University of Kansas student who asked Hillary Clinton if she was "satisfactorily feminine" — to which Clinton responded: "I couldn’t run as anything other than a woman."

I’m sure that none of them are what they seem to be….I hope that’s true for the Baskin-Robbins dude.

There was a debate last night? Call me when it matters – we’re 17 months before election day.

Hey once again, go back and look at some of the topics picked up from the republican debates compared to these atta boy threads..go to Presidential race and see some of the treads sparked from them…

The YouTube format could revolutionize the political process and energize the younger folks to become more involved, IF, and ONLY IF, questions are selected not by CNN, but by the YouTube videos with the top puplic vote counts. Maybe even go one step further and require YouTube voters to fill out a online voters registration form. Somehow, we need to get the Press out of the middle where “SPIN” happens.

I watched most of last night’s debate.

I thought the questions from YouTube made it more interesting; wish the debaters had been able to answer the questions — that would have made the whole thing REALLY interesting. But, they’re politicians and most of the time can use more words than anyone while saying less.

Joe Biden seemed to have the attitude of, “May as well answer, what’s to lose?” He did seem to honestly try to answer the questions; those he was given an opportunity to answer.

So many candidates, so much time. After they finish eliminating one another and we have fewer to listen to maybe it will be time to pay close attention.

After browsing through YouTube a little bit, are you sure you want to “energize” these folks to “become more involved?”

I’d say the farther they stay away from a voting booth, the better.

Agree with your concern, GMC70. And it is a valid concern. However, there are registered voters who are just as misinformed, and vote. I’m coming from two fronts. One, the mainstream media and FM radio already have the ear of the YouTubes, but they don’t vote. If/When they become motivated/involved and start thinking for themselves, I’m confident that they will quickly find out the lies that the MSM and FM radio have been spewing over the years and gravitate to the truth. Can you say Liberty and Free Market, BABY!!!

Voting should be mandatory for every person 16 and over.

You’re joking of course, brian? I don’t like that only 18% of eligible voters are registered, and that a minority of those vote. Those who take the time to REGISTER and vote tend to take the time to get informed. If voting were manditory, the majority of voters would be informed through mainstream media and FM radio. They would not search for the truth, but rather accept the dribble coming out of the liberal press. We get the government we deserve, not the government we want. Why? Mainly due to liberal press spin, but also those who do vote rely on that press to tell them what to think instead of thinking for themselves.

Homeland Security has 180,000 employees and 82 billion dollars a year.

Last year refrigerators killed 13 Americans, while “terrorists” got zero.

No kidding. All eligible people should be required to vote.

What is different between an uninformed voter, a voter that has only had information from one media source (e.g. FoxNews or the late AirAmerica), and someone who votes a party ticket?

Requiring everyone to vote would have the affect of getting more people interested in what is going on with their government. Not all people, but more.

You’re real cute Ed, but aren’t you forgeting the number of Americans killed world wide?

Why don’t we compare the numbers refrigerators vs terrorists for the last ten years here in America?

Hell, I’ll let you ever throw in toasters, they have a pretty high kill rate.

The MSM has already decided that Hillary is going to be the nominee.

And like her husband, if she wins, she’ll be the best REPUBLICAN president we’ve had in a long time . . .

Globalization, off shoring, NAFTA, corportism as usual, maintain the status quo . . .

Maybe she can run with Joe Leiberman.

“What about Clinton jumping on Obama for saying he would talk to ‘rogue’ leaders?”

Yet another reason to dislike Hillary–she looks for any cheap-ass point of attack she can. Kinda like her jumping on Edwards when he stated the freakin’ obvious about the phony “war on terrorism.”

Her campaign has since backed away from the original talking point, allowing for perhaps low-level communications with “bad guys”–but that wasn’t the pseudo-tough sound-bite that started the argument to begin with. And yet she still has the nerve (and lack of integrity) to continue to imply that Obama would ALWAYS meet the foreign leaders in person–something he didn’t even imply during the debate.

I’m not sold on ANY candidate at this point, but Obama gained some brownie points with me on that one, and Hillary reminded me yet again why I, regretfully, cannot support the first probable female nominee for president.

    Sigh. . .

Four hundred dollar haircuts are bit ridiculous, but it’s a dangerous talking point for the ruling class to indulge–think about it. Edwards should shrug, start getting high-profile trims at “Supercuts” (to be, of course, posted on Youtube), and be done with it.
