Does anyone know current information about Greensburg? Seems like most news from there are “fluff” reports.
For example, is their electricity back on? If not, what’s the holdup? Do they have safe drinking water? What about natural gas? Is Highway 54 open to through traffic?
Also what is the prevailing feeling among bona fide residents … are they going to use their insurance money to rebuild in Greensburg or to relocate outside of Greensburg?
Are FEMA and Kansas government officials getting their job done? What about Greensburg schools and businesses?
Music theater of Wichita’s prodution of Cats! was magnificent. They played to several packed houses last wee and over the weekend. Truly a gem.
54 is open through Greensburg. I’ve traveled through there for about a month already.
Clean-up is still what is going on. There are some FEMA trailers there.
I know that most property owners have already received their insurance money. Quite a few have pulled up stakes and left to live with relatives in other states. Some businesses are rebuilding.
Wow…407 comments on the ‘Sicko’ offers glimpse of alternatives topic! Is that a record?
VERY interesting results so far on Wichita Business Journal poll on Casino slots.
“If the election were held today, how would you vote on expanded gambling in Sedgwick County?”
Yes on casino, yes on slots … 35%Yes on casino, no on slots …. 2%No on casino, yes on slots …. 4%No on casino, no on slots ….. 59%
WOW! From almost 2-1 FOR casino to substantial AGAINST. Surprising.

You watch Ben…the people who actually vote will show what the Wichita Community is made of.
A large majority of the “Pro Casino” voters probably have never seen the inside of a voting booth, nor even know how to register to vote.
You just might have a point there republican. I have to admit that the results surprise me. However, it is a bit ’self-selected’ and is Business Journal subscribers.
Ya Ben, but I’m willing to be that those Business Journal Subscribers have a higher than 80 percent ratio of voters to non-voters.
Yep – and I’m one of them. As I have said before, this will be an interesting dynamic to watch. I think Meyers and Chandler have had a big impact.
