The case for amnesty for illegal aliens

Although "amnesty" has become the damning rallying cry against Congress’ stalled immigration bill, this Time essay persuasively argues that amnesty is the only viable way to assimilate America’s huge illegal immigrant population.
Deporting 12 million people is a fantasy, the piece points out — and it would have a devastating effect on our economy, which needs more workers, not fewer.
Unfortunately, the new immigration bill, like those before it, also engages in politically motivated make-believe. Do we really expect illegals to pay up to $9,000 to become legal citizens when they can continue to live and work here with little chance of being caught?
Dream on.
Do we really believe that significant numbers of illegals will voluntarily return to their homelands to reapply for green cards?
Dream on.
There are no perfect solutions to our immigration mess. But until Americans show some willingness to face basic realities of the our broken system, the problem will only get worse.

Sorry Randy, the times doesn;t persuasively argue anything for me. It;s just more BS. Let’s have some real solutions, that just “Oh hell, they are here, we can;t just remove them”. Try this idea from another thread as a start for discussion

)as we bring back troops, reservists, and national guards from around the world, redeploy them along the border, providing border security. Specialized units need only be used

2)Any illegal found to have committed more than 3 misdemeanors or a single felony is immediately deported

3)The 14th amendment stays as it is, but anchor babies can only anchor siblings and parents

4)Anyone applying for public assistance must provide proof citizenship or permanent residency. Failure to do so will result in deportation

5)Illegal aliens may apply for guest worker or some newly defined status for one year. Failure to do so within the year after passage of the immigration reform act will result in deportation. In addition, illegals found to be present in the United States after one year will be subject to immediate deportation. However, for those currently within the US wishing to gain guest worker status must supply

a)the name of an employee sponsor who agrees to:1)provide English language classes2)provide medical care or insurance3)pay the prevailing industry wage4)certify that there are no American citizens or permanent residents available, at a wage no less than 125% of the prevailing wage

6)Employers found to have hired illegal aliens that are not in compliance with item 5 will spend no less than 1 year in jail and pay no less than $100,000 fine

7)Citizenship will not be granted to those here illegally, at any time,

8)Any guest worker or special status worker defined by #5, even though granted that status, will be deported if found guilty or more than 3 misdemeanors or one felony.

You so-called “journaists” have blood on your hands, just like the political and capitalist scum!

Please note: This study of illegal immigrants who committed sex crimes in the U.S. was NOT funded by anyone or any group. As a working profiler, I wondered what the statistics were regarding these crimes. I could not find any studies that discussed these offenses and the profile of the offenders, so I did the research myself. Additionally, I was not paid for publishing the results.

The Dark Side of Illegal Immigration: Nearly One Million Sex Crimes Committed by Illegal Immigrants in the United States

By Deborah Schurman-Kauflin, Ph.D. Violent Crimes Institute, Atlanta, Georgia

Introduction:After conducting a 12 month in-depth study of illegal immigrants who committed sex crimes and murders for the time period of January 1999 through April 2006 , it is clear that the U.S. public faces a dangerous threat from sex predators who cross the U.S. borders illegally.

There were 1500 cases analyzed in depth. They included: serial rapes, serial murders, sexual homicides, and child molestation committed by illegal immigrants. Police reports, public records, interviews with police, and media accounts were all included. Offenders were located in 36 states, but it is clear, that the most of the offenders were located in states with the highest numbers of illegal immigrants. California was number one, followed by Texas, Arizona, New Jersey, New York, and Florida.

Based on population numbers of 12,000,000 illegal immigrants and the fact that young males make up more of this population than the general U.S. population, sex offenders in the illegal immigrant group make up a higher percentage. When examining ICE reports and public records, it is consistent to find sex offenders comprising 2% of illegals apprehended. Based on this 2% figure, which is conservative, there are approximately 240,000 illegal immigrant sex offenders in the United States.

This translates to 93 sex offenders and 12 serial sexual offenders coming across U.S. borders illegally per day. The 1500 offenders in this study had a total of 5,999 victims. Each sex offender averaged 4 victims. This places the estimate for victimization numbers around 960,000 for the 88 months examined in this study.

Victims:Of the 1500 cases reviewed, 525 (35%) were child molestations, 358 (24%) were rapes, and 617 (41%) were sexual homicides and serial murders. Of the child molestations, 47% of the victims were Hispanic, 36% were Caucasian, 8% were Asian, 6% were African American, and 3% were other nationalities. In most instances, the offenders were familiar with their victims. In fact, 82% of the victims were known to their attackers. The other 18% were molested by strangers. In those instances, the illegal immigrants typically gained access to the victims after having worked as a day laborer at or near the victims’ homes. Victims ranged in age from 1 year old to 13 years old, with the average age being 6.

In rape cases, the offenders were less likely to know their victims. Only 64% of the victims knew their attackers. Furthermore, rape victims proved to be more diverse than child molestation victims. Hispanic and Caucasian victims were identical at 35% each.

The next most likely victims were African American women, and other nationalities comprised the remainder. These women suffered brutal attacks. Commonly, a weapon was used to control the victims. These weapons were most often sharp instruments. And the victims were beaten during the rapes over 70% of the time. Offenders engaged in sodomy in 67% of the attacks, and gang rape took place in .007% of the cases. Rape victims ranged in age from 16-79 and averaged age 23.

Serial rapists accounted for 3% of all illegal immigrant rapists. Each serial rapist averaged 5 victims, with the number of victims ranging from 2 to 11. Two serial rapists were confirmed HIV positive, and another offender had a venereal disease.

The murders were the worst of the sex crimes and were especially vicious. The most common method was for an offender to break into a residence and ambush his victims. Not only were victims raped, but some (6%) were mutilated. The crime scenes were very bloody, expressing intense, angry perpetrator personalities. Specifically, most victims were blitzed, rendered incapable of fighting back, and then raped and murdered. The most common method of killing was bludgeoning, followed by stabbing. Caucasians were more likely to become victims of sexual homicide committed by illegal immigrants. Hispanics were second, and African Americans were third. Victims of sexual homicides averaged age 42. However, victims ranged in age from 16-81.

Serial killers accounted for .005% of the sex crimes. The serial killers averaged 9 victims per offender. Victim choice centered on victims the offenders did not know. Each serial killer targeted men and women, but females were higher, making up 73%. Illegal immigrant serial killers were more likely to strike in the West and the Southern United States.

Victim socioeconomic status changed for each type of crime. Those who fell victim to child molestation tended to be from a lower socioeconomic status than those who were raped and those who were raped and murdered. In fact, 57% of those rape/murdered were from the upper middle class.

There was an especially disturbing finding that in 22% of all sex crimes committed by illegal immigrants, victims with physical and mental disabilities were targeted. These disabled victims were each under age 18. In those cases, the perpetrators knew their victims.

Offenders:The average age of illegal immigrants who were sex offenders was 27, but they ranged in age from 16-69. Child molesters tended to be older, averaging age 32. The average age of rapists was 26, and murderers averaged age 28. There is a trend that these offenders are becoming younger. For example, in 2006, the average age of sex offender illegal immigrants was 20. The highest number came from Mexico. El Salvador was the original home to the next highest number of sexual offenders. Other countries of origin included: Brazil, China, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, Jamaica, Nicaragua, Puerto Rico*, Russia, and Vietnam.

They averaged 4 victims per offender. Nearly 63% had been deported on another offense prior to the sex crime. There was an average of 3 years of committing crimes such as DUI, assaults, or drug related offenses prior to being apprehended for a sexual offense.

Alcohol and drug use seemingly played a large role in these crimes. In fact, 81% of offenders were drinking or using drugs prior to offending. Rapists and killers were more likely to use alcohol and drugs consistently than child molesters.

Offenders had the use of a vehicle in 78% of the cases. However, the vehicles were only owned by those offenders 54% of the time. In the other instances, the offenders either borrowed or stole the vehicle.

Many offenders were unkempt in appearance and worked with their hands. They were transient in that they went where work took them. Therefore, only 25% were stable within a community. Further, in 31% of the crimes, the offenders entered into the communities where they offended within 2 months of the commission of their sex offenses. However, many, 79%, had been in the U.S. for more than one year before being arrested for a sex crime, and they were typically known to the Criminal Justice system for prior, less serious offenses before they molested, raped, or murdered.

There was a trend to be single while offending, as only 23% were married at the time of their crimes. Most were known to date quite a bit and have derogatory views of females. Domestic violence was common as well, as nearly half of those with spouses or significant others had a history of domestic abuse.

Nearly 35% were considered religious and even more, 59% had been raised in a religious home. Their work consisted of manual labor in industries such as agriculture, construction, restaurant, and tourism. Residences were rented and usually shared with several other illegal immigrants. Many were partially bi-lingual with a preference for their native languages.

Education levels were typically low. Only 22% had graduated high school. As such, there was a pattern of irresponsible, impulsive behavior in offender backgrounds. Solutions to their problems entailed moving, i.e. running away. Most simply ran to the southern U.S. border after being connected with their sex offenses.

Conclusions:Illegal immigrants who commit sex crimes first cross the U.S. border illegally. Then they gradually commit worse crimes and are continually released back into society or deported. Those who were deported simply returned illegally again. Only 2% of the offenders in this study has no history of criminal behavior, beyond crossing the border illegally. There is a clear pattern of criminal escalation. From misdemeanors such as assault or DUI, to drug offenses, illegal immigrants who commit sex crimes break U.S. laws repeatedly. They are highly mobile, work in low skilled jobs with their hands, use drugs and alcohol, are generally promiscuous, have little family stability, and choose victims who are easy to attack. Their attacks are particularly brutal, and they use a hands-on method of controlling and/or killing their victims.

Note: Nearly 30% of the victims were illegal immigrants themselves. The remainder were U.S. citizens.

*One offender came from Puerto Rico. He had entered PR illegally from DR and then came to the mainland. He was charged with child molestation.

The solution is very simple. Maybe we can’t deport 12-20 million at once, so we enforce our laws and make them go home. How? Employment verification raids on companies that are known or suspected to use cheap/illegal labor. For every illegal alien found working, fine the company 5 times that persons annual wages. In a matter of weeks, those companies will have a ss# verification program setup and illegal immigrants will go home on their own since they will not get any work. It’s not that difficult, we just need a leader with backbone. Unlike our current prez and media apologists.

Rather than spending money chasing people around that have done nothing wrong other than come to our land and get jobs, (the criminal illegals are addressed through the already established criminal court system) why don’t we spend the money on something that will benefit the country in the future?

‘But the illegals take our jobs’ Blah blah blah. They can have those jobs, those jobs are not going to be what drives America to thrive and prosper in the coming years. We need to look at energy independence, technological innovation, and major health care coverage before we spend even one dollar trying to ‘catch and release’ some illegals that have broken no laws other than immigration.

The economy is generating more jobs than citizens can fill? I don’t see it, when it takes 150000 new jobs per month just to keep up with new workforce entries, and rarely in the past 6 yrs. has that number been generated or exceeded. The illegal workers are needed for one thing only, to help depress wage increase demands.

If we would make hiring an illegal alien a capital offense and punish both the management and the top 5 stockholders , then we would see some changes.

If we would hang a few employers in the city square and leave them there until the fell off, we might give notice on how things are going to be addressed.

Or do the same by hanging a few illegals along I-35 as notice you are entering an No Illegal Zone.

Those seem like great crime deterrents mrbill. Perhaps they should be implemented for all sorts of crimes. Imagine these:

Speeders hanging from overpasses, the hands of thieves hanging on the fronts of department stores, the genitals of everyone that has had oral sex before or outside of marriage hanging from a church steeple (since sodomy, “oral or anal copulation between persons who are not husband and wife”, is still a crime in KS .), etc.

Oh what a great, crime free society we could live in.

    Brian,

This is a little background on the 150K number for jobs

    http://www.jobwatch.org/email/jobwatch_20041008.html

So how much job growth is needed to get “high marks”? Certainly one minimal benchmark is that jobs should grow as fast as the working-age population, a rate that would normally keep unemployment from rising. With the working-age population growing around 1.2% each year, the economy needs to produce between 135,000 and 150,000 jobs each month to hit this minimal benchmark. 1

From what I read there, I think it is even more imperative to focus the country’s limited resources on growing the overall US economy. To do so will require the creation of new industries and innovation in those where we have competitive advantages over other countries.

First of all, I am for AMNESTY but only certain kinds of amnesty for certain kinds of people. For people that are here illegally, I support fully a path to Permanet Residency but NO “path to citizenship” and NO allowing them to bring in all their uncles, aunts, cousins. Only them and their spouse and children would be allowed AMNESTY and given a probationary work permit for 5 years that would NOT be renewable. If, after 5 years, the immigrant had kept a job, learned at least basic English and paid all taxes owed- THEN grant them Permanent Residency but citizenship should only be offered to immigrants that go home and apply and wait like all other legal immigrants have to do OR service in the armed forces. Also, before ANYTHING is done, the border must be secure and a national biometric tamper proof Citizen ID card issued to every American here legally. Employers would be required to verify ALL employees legal status and failure to do so would result a HUGE fines- I mean fines that HURT and would not merely be seen as a “cost of doing business” as they are now. The fact is this- IF illegal aliens cannot get JOBS most of them will quit sneaking in.

67% to 90% want immigration laws enforced FIRST and the BORDER SECURED FIRST, THen and only then will the 60 some % support a guest worker program, and NOT amnesty, not citizenship, and not legal residency.

No one I know and the polls indicate that illegal aliens should not get benefits of hospitalization except for life threatening, (not the flu or routine medical, that is for Mexico to pay, our money goes to the citizens) the polls show that clearly. Mexico and the “Countries of Origin” need to pay for their people in our country. Send them the bill, have the illegal aliens register, and bill their home country, Screw their country if it is fraud, we kkep the money out of future “aid packages”.

We have sent enough money and the American Citizens know this.

Even if illegal alien puke supporters refuse to accept this fact.

It could be that “amnesty” is the only real solution. BUT, Amnesty before we find a way to secure the border will only put us back in this same situation in 3-5 years instead of every ten years. Amnesty without stoping new illegals is only encouragement for more illegals to come and wait for their turn for the next “amnesty”.

May 25, 2007Feds Let Illegal Immigrant Child Rapist Get AwayHighlighting the U.S. government’s ongoing failure to protect Americans from violent illegal immigrants is the case of a Mexican man who sexually assaulted a Colorado girl yet posted bail and fled south of the border because immigration officials failed to act.

The horrific crime and subsequent negligence by authorities took place in Denver. The illegal alien, who said his name is Manuel Flores, raped and sodomized his girlfriend’s 9-year-old daughter and was arrested by local police.

Because the man could not provide a Social Security number or driver’s license when he was booked at the Denver jail, the sheriff’s department alerted federal immigration officials that he might be in the country illegally.

But the Homeland Security agency in charge of detaining such offenders, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), failed to issue a crucial immigration hold that would permit long term incarceration and subsequent deportation. So the man posted the $3,500 for his $35,000 bond and fled to his native Mexico.http://www.corruptionchronicles.com/2007/05/feds_let_illegal_immigrant_chi.html

As much as I am against illegal immigrants, I don’t think that deporting them all, as many Americans want to do is a very realistic idea. With the low estimate of 12 million and the high estimate of 20 million illegal immigrants in the US today, deporting them all would prove to be nearly impossible. There is no doubt about it; illegal immigrants are bad for America. The Center for Immigration studies backs this up with countless statistics. This poses a problem, what do we do about all those people here that aren’t supposed to be and are sucking America dry? Being that deporting them all isn’t realistic, I think we should apply the same technique that is used when attempting to remove any unwanted rodent. We as American’s must make it impossible for the illegal immigrants to live here. Don’t issue licenses to them, nor should we allow them to own property. Those who rent living space to them should be arrested for aiding and abetting a felon. Put the names of those caught living here illegally on a list and don’t ever allow those people citizenship that have already shown themselves to be less than caring about our laws. You don’t get rid of rodents by making it easy to live, and the same could be said of illegal immigrants. If we will make it impossible for them to live here, they will stop coming and the ones that are here will leave on their own toward the border. It is equally important that the resources be provided to apartment owners that would enable them to determine whether or not someone belongs in this country. This would allow them to fulfill their duty to America by reporting the illegal activity that is going on around them. Above all else, we will NOT solve the problem by granting millions of them amnesty. This was tried in the 80’s and didn’t work

    This just has to stop!

Several Utah school districts have just hired 12 new teachers from Mexico in conjunction with a State Office of Education plan. The hiring deal forms part of an agreement reached when state Governor Huntsman visited Mexico a few years ago.

The teachers will help a growing population of Hispanic students in the state. School districts are having a harder and harder time finding elementary school teachers, science and math teachers.

The Granite district was one of four school districts in Utah to send employees to Mexico where they interviewed over 50 teachers that the Mexican Consulate had pre-screened. Other districts include Salt Lake, Tooele County and Davis County. Most of the 12 teachers will speak English in the classroom with the exception of those hired for dual immersion programs. The Granite District says the teachers will be a great help to Spanish-speaking students and their parents, who often feel left out of their child’s education.

The teachers will arrive in early August. They’ll make a salary of around $35,000, compared to about $12,000 in Mexico. The state is helping the teachers get a temporary work visa.

It seems that violence is the only recourse that we have left. the media, the courts and the political process are fraudulent! Bullets are cheap!

June 12, 2007Illegal Day Laborers Win Big Settlement In N.Y.A New York town will pay six illegal day laborers $550,000 and forbid its police department from checking suspects’ immigration status to settle a discrimination lawsuit that claims the men were harassed because they are Hispanic.

The case stems from a much-needed police crackdown on disruptive and violent loitering in a public park in Mamaroneck, a town of about 20,000 residents located some two dozen miles from New York City. Multiple complaints of hundreds of drunken men fighting, littering, urinating and defecating at the park’s makeshift day laborer hiring site led to police to shut it down.

A Latino rights group sued the town alleging that the illegal immigrants’ constitutional rights to assemble and exercise free speech were violated. The suit also accuses village officials of discriminating against the day laborers—all admitted illegal aliens who didn’t use their real name in court documents for fear of deportation—simply because they are Hispanic.

Mayor Philip Trifiletti, a defendant in the case, said he was simply taking a totally out of control situation and bringing it under control. “They were trashing our village and they were trashing our park,” the mayor said when the case went to court last year.

A White Plains federal judge named Colleen McMahon sided with the illegal immigrants ruling in November that police had deliberately harassed the day laborers because they were Hispanic. In her decision Judge McMahon actually wrote that “the fact that the day laborers were Latinos, and not whites, was, at least in part, a motivating factor in defendants’ actions.”

Besides the hefty cash sum, this week’s settlement includes specific prohibitions on what the judge considers police misconduct and discriminatory behavior towards illegal immigrants. Now officers cannot even tell workers to “move on” as they solicit on the streets or leave the place where they are standing unless there is an actual violation of New York law concerning disorderly conduct.

Because it’s a federal court-approved settlement, this case could very well have nationwide implications regarding millions of illegal day laborers who solicit work on public streets and parks around the country.

We are going to have to do this a little at a time, just like a plumbing leak. You stop the leak first and then you clean up the mess.

If it is possible to take a census on the overall population of the United States, it is possible to sort out and deport the un-wanted.

Increase law enforcements across the nation; streamline efficiency in the judiciary system and ID system. It will take years to sort out but that is OK, we can charge the country that they came from and the employers that bought them over to paid for the cost.

The best solution to reverse the trend is a continuous effort to enforce the laws, no apathy.

1986 – Ronnie Regan – amnesty. 2007 – Geo. Bush – amnesty. WHY is it always the Republicans who push amnesty for illegal mexicans? Why?

Because they both had to pass thru Democrat controlled Congress’?

Didn’t work then, won’t work now. All we are doing is rewarding law breaking.Unless of course we actually have some kind of plan to secure the border this time.

You have to secure the border FIRST. If this idiotic amnesty bill passes (yes, I guess that makes me Un-American) without strong borders, we may as well annex Mexico, because about half of their (THEIR) citizens will flood thru. No those aren’t hard numbers. Think about it.

Y’all know that is where quite a few of our leaders want us to end up? Soft or no borders between Canada and Mexico? I forget the name of the program, but it would be something similar to the union in Europe. So this 4 point whatever billion Bush is claiming to spend on border security is a pure farce. They don’t even WANT a border.

Research your candidates. Make the RIGHT choice in the primaries. VOTE SMART.

Okay, these “things” need to be removed from this country, by any means necessary, dead or alive, and soon!

These enabling politicians also need to be REMOVED.

Man arrested in deadly hit-and-run5:23 p.m. Police have arrested Martin Morado, 45, of Greeley, shown at right, in connection with the deaths of an Eaton couple in a crash in Weld County Wednesday night. Police said Monte and Sandra Davenport, above, were killed when their Chevy Cavalier Wagon was broadsided by a Ford Taurus, driven by Morado, at the intersection of Weld County roads 45 and 54 east of Evans. Morado has at least two prior drunken-driving arrests. He had eluded authorities for more than 20 hours. He was being held on suspicion of vehicular homicide while driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs; vehicular homicide — reckless driving; and leaving the scene of an accident involving death, according to an affidavit for Morado’s arrest.

Killed in Wednesday’s crash in rural Weld County were Monte S. Davenport, 61, and Sandy D. Davenport, 60. Morado’s wife, Sanjuana, who was traveling with her husband at the time of wreck, also was being treated at the hospital for injuries she suffered.

With the help of a neighbor, Morado allegedly abandoned his wife as she sat injured in their Ford Taurus, and the Davenports, who might have died on impact.

Court records show Morado spent time in Weld County Jail on at least two occasions after he pleaded guilty in 1991 to driving while under the influence and in 1997 for the same offense.

Morado also pleaded guilty in 1995 to felony possession and sale of a controlled substance. He received three years probation. As part of a plea agreement, the Weld County district attorney dismissed other misdemeanor and felony counts against Morado, including vehicular eluding, DUI, reckless driving and driving while under restraint, records showed.

Troopers say it was Sanjuana Morado, 45, who told police her husband caused the accident. While still sitting injured in the front seat of the Ford, she told police her husband ran a stop sign shortly before the accident, according to the affidavit.

Troopers said they think Morado was driving the sedan, traveling southbound on Weld County Road 45 and approaching Weld County Road 54. At the same time, Monte Davenport and his wife were heading east in a Chevrolet Cavalier station wagon on Weld County Road 54, moving toward the intersection.

Morado, who was driving at least 65 mph — 10 miles above the speed limit — then “disregarded both clearly visible stop signs at the intersection” and broadsided the station wagon, according to the affidavit.

A witness who arrived at the scene told troopers that Morado also admitted to her that he ran through the stop sign. When the witness told Morado the couple in the station wagon were dead he fled, the trooper wrote.

Another witness, Morado’s neighbor, said he was working in a field near the crash site when he heard the sedan race by. Then he heard a horrific crash and saw the station wagon flip into the air, according to the document.

When the witness arrived at the scene, Morado asked him to drive to his nearby home so that he could retrieve his insurance papers. Morado told the witness that after picking up his paperwork, he planned to return to the scene, the trooper wrote.

Morado climbed into one of his trucks but “took off the other way,” the witness told troopers.

Robert Duvall and his wife were watching the 9 p.m. news Wednesday when they caught the story about the crash in rural Weld County, southeast of Greeley.

“I hope that’s not somebody we know,” Duvall’s wife, Diane, said today.

But troopers knocked on their door in Greeley at 11:30 p.m. to tell them they did know the victims: Robert’s sister, Sandy, and her husband.

“I couldn’t cry, I was in so much shock,” Diane Duvall said as tears slid down her face and she stood outside the Davenports’ basic wood home. “Now that’s all I want to do.”

The Davenports were coming home from one of their favorite restaurants when they were killed, Robert Duvall said.

They had been dining with friends at the Farmers Inn Mexican restaurant in LaSalle and were on their way to let out their dogs Dolly, a German Shepherd, and Buddy, a mixed breed they had taken in from an animal shelter.

Monte and Sandy had retired in the past few years. Sandy was a secretary at the University of Northern Colorado for about 30 years. Monte was a welder from a company once known as Platte River Steel that might have since changed names, Duvall said.

Monte enjoyed skeet and trap shooting; he would walk down the road from his rural home to do it at the Weld County Fish and Wildlife Association.

Robert Duvall remembered his sister as someone who volunteered at a senior citizens center and knitted blankets, comforters and shawls for the seniors.

“She didn’t just sit around,” Duvall said. “She enjoyed helping other people.”

Monte and Sandy both enjoyed camping and boating, and cared for Monte’s 86-year-old mother, who lived with them.

Robert Duvall said he hoped speaking out about his sister and brother-in-law might send a message to people.

“If maybe they can see the consequences of possibly drinking and driving,” he said. “Two peoples’ lives were lost for no reason.”

Illegal immigrant Eligio Chia-Duran. Chia-Duran, a native of Mexico, is accused of molesting an 8-month-old girl in Georgia, and could face a 60-year sentence. When the girl was brought to Southern Regional Medical Center, on Dec. 25, she had 30 bruises on her body, her ribs, vertebrae and skull were fractured, leaving her paralyzed. She had blood in her diaper, her brain was bleeding, and physical evidence suggested she had been molested. Police did not tell the pervert of his right to seek legal help from the Mexican consulate, because he did not tell police at the time of his arrest that he was a foreign national (maybe because he can’t speak English), and had a South Carolina driver’s license.Shyster Stephen Mackie argued charges of aggravated child molestation, aggravated battery and cruelty to children should be dismissed, so as to honor the rights and privileges of our illegal aliens.

There have been many alternatives to the existing ‘badly’ proposed, and overwhelmingly opposed, new plan. Our present situation would not be as bad if only our existing laws were enforced.

    Hey, how about this:

    1. Enforce border security according to the laws already in existence, with the armed military if necessary.

    2. Enforce employment verification and punish with fines, or jail if necessary, employers that break the law. Choose potential immigrants and future citizens based on what they can contribute to the U.S., not what we can contribute to them. Our country became great because the immigrants coming here were self-sufficient and hard working. There was no entitlement society enabling them to exist on the working taxpayer.

    3. Eliminate U.S. legal rights for illegal aliens, and stop the ‘anchor baby’ citizenship fiasco. There should be no automatic citizenship for babies born to aliens, legal or illegal, except through a legal citizenship process. It a must be a mis-interpretation of the Constitution to allow aliens to sneak in and have a child that automatically becomes a citizen entitling everyone to taxpayer funded benefits. Those parents must at least be here legally first, or better, citizens themselves. Other countries have amended their interpretations to their constitutions in this regard to protect themselves and reduce the incentive to break the law by entering illegally.

    4. Stop all entitlements for illegal aliens. No food stamps, welfare, free medical care except life-saving emergencies, stop all in-state tuition to colleges until they become citizens and residents of that college’s state. Also, no free ride on the taxpayer in our public schools, meaning no benefits to attendance in our public schools, be it grade, middle or high school, unless they, or their parents, have a legal visa and are paying taxes to support those schools.

    5. All those presently here illegally must register for a work visa and pay a fine or fee to do so, and for breaking the law in the first place.I would prefer to send them back to apply, but that is probably unworkable and would disrupt our economy, so imposing a fine for those that came here illegally, that those seeking to come legally would not have to pay, seems appropriate.

If we eliminate the benefits of coming here illegally people will not come illegally. Life must be more difficult for illegals sneaking into the U.S. than those who come through approved channels, and more difficult than in their country of origin, or they will continue to come illegally.

My recommendation to Congress and the President would be; “Now, get to it, enforce our present laws at least. And remember, you work for and at the pleasure of the U.S. Citizen.”

Many in support of amnesty claim illegal immigrants are simply entering this country illegally because they are “longing for a decent life”, but those same supporters fail to also include the illegals are doing so while committing Tax evasion, Document fraud, ID Theft, Trespassing, Welfare Fraud, Money Laundering and the Transfer of US UNTAXED Dollars OUT of the Country to a Foreign Country. As an American Citizen may I please have the same advantages in the interest of simply benefiting myself and my family? Self-interest is the motive behind all criminal behavior and is no excuse. We must remain a nation of laws.

On September 27, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) announced that the DREAM Act would not be considered as an amendment to H.R. 1585, the Defense Department authorization bill for fiscal year 2008.

The Washington Times reports, however, that Reid will push for passage of the DREAM Act, which would grant amnesty to millions of illegal aliens, by different means (possibly in its stand-alone form [S. 774, sponsored by Assistant Majority Leader Dick Durbin {D-Ill.}]) before the Senate adjourns for the year (i.e., on or about November 16).

Reid’s concession on the DoD authorization bill may doom other immigration-related amendments to the defense bill as well.

Please fax your senators: We have stopped the DREAM Act for now, but there is already a push to pass it as a stand-alone bill.
