Pressure China about Darfur, but don’t boycott Olympics

To stop the genocide in Darfur, the United States needs to put more pressure on China, which provides billions of dollars in investment, oil revenue, infrastructure development and arms sales to Sudan. But the United States shouldn’t go as far as New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson recommended during Sunday’s Democratic presidential debate and threaten to pull out of the 2008 Summer Olympics unless China does something about Darfur.

How about we revoke the Most Favored Nation status. How about we impact their trade with the US. Hit them in the wallet. Hurst the most.

China’s currency is way too strong against the dollar and they’re eating our lunch.

    Meanwhile, who’s benefitting?

The Bush family consortium for the development of China.

    What a coincidence . . .

So we drop the Most Favored Nation status. Take back our jobs, bring back the Made In America mantra (and make it MEAN something)

What’s the problem with that Capn? The only downfall I see are the bonds China holds.

Brother Neil actually brought home a nasty case of herpes to his wife from a trip to Hong Kong when business interests curried favor by sending prostitutes to his room free of charge.

Those wacky, wacky Bushs’ . . . prostitutes, daughters on drugs, DUI’s, homocidal drivers, and money, money, money.

I think our boycotting the Olympics would hurt them in the pocketbook and would render their hosting of this event as second rate.

Let’s face it, our leverage with them is dwindling.

The Chinese would come around in a heartbeat and that is why this was a brilliant suggestion.

Our government can’t do anything but kiss China’s ass. You want special trade status? Sure, we’ll give it to you. You want us to spend taxpayer money to relocate American factories to China? Yes, we’ll do that. Do you want our technological secrets? Okay, we’ll give them to you. Don’t want us to recognize Taiwan? Sure, we don’t have much love for free, democratic countries. You want us to look the other way at your human rights abuses? Okay, our government recently adopted your torture standards too. Pollution problem? Heck, your soot is filling the lungs of people in California but we won’t criticize you about it.
