For more information on the IRS investigation against Spirit One Christian Center go to the MP website:www.maggotpunks.com/mp.html
Yup, I saw that on the local news, Doug.
That’s great news for those of us who feel churches shouldn’t be handing out “voting guides” in the pews.
What I can’t believe is that Bush’s IRS would follow up on this.
“SEATTLE — Robert Alan Soloway, a 27-year old from Seattle, Wash., was arrested on Wednesday and authorities claim he was one of the world’s biggest e-mail spammers.”http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/story/CTVNews/20070531/spam_internet_070531/20070531?hub=CTVNewsAt11
This guy should get a fair trial, be convicted, and hanged. Spammers are almost as low on the food chain as neoco…er, never mind.
http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/dn/opinion/viewpoints/stories/DN-geyer_31edi.ART.State.Edition1.4370227.html
Friends of his from Texas were shocked recently to find him nearly wild-eyed, thumping himself on the chest three times while he repeated “I am the president!” He also made it clear he was setting Iraq up so his successor could not get out of “our country’s destiny.”
*****
The guy is melting down. His chosen method of containing terrorism was to hit the hornet’s nest with a stick.
Now he’s reduced to saying, “I’m the decider.”
Can anyone imagine FDR doing this? Or even LBJ or Reagan?
Where has free speech gone?
“Vet Prosecuted for Opposing Recruitment in Library”
Tim Coil served in the first Gulf War and now suffers from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
On March 12, he and his wife, Yvette, went to the Stow-Munroe Falls Public Library in Ohio. At 37, she is a student at Kent State and needed to study for a biology test. Tim, 40, was reading some books.
Then they noticed two military recruiters trying to enlist someone in a nearby room, with a large glass window.
She decided to take action.
She took out some 3×5 cards and wrote messages to the man being recruited and then put them up on the window sill.
“Don’t fall for it! Military recruiters lie,” said one.
“It’s not honorable to fight for a lying President,” said another.———————————

“Vet Prosecuted for Opposing Recruitment in Library”Posted by: delores | June 01, 2007 at 06:09 AM
When oh when will these Progressive Clown Liberals learn not to put up a story and then by omissions appear to point the finger at the wrong people?
Talk about lying, that’s the worst.
http://www.motherjones.com/mojoblog/archives/2007/05/4432_ohio_man_arrest.html“The library director told the Coils that they were disturbing library patrons and could not continue displaying cards. Ms. Coil mentioned that she was a library patron, and the recruiters were disturbing her. The police came and arrested Mr. Coil for disorderly conduct. He has refused to make a plea, and he has refused to pay $100 in court costs. He will appear in court on June 5.”
Get it? They wouldn’t stop when the Librarian told them to stop. A library is not a place for protest, it’s a place to go read books, study and do research.
Disturbing the peace, yeah…like their rights were violated.
The recruiters were in an enclosed glass room bothering no one.
Another example of blow-hard, gaseous rhetoric from the left.
Capn appears to forget that FDR lied to the American people about his condition of polio the whole time he was in office. FDR was also known to have a huge explosive temper and literally curse out people for the littlest of things.
LBJ was so deep into crooked politics in Texas that even his closest allies kept their distance in case there ever was an investigation.
Reagan? No, that would be Alexander Haig’s comment stating he was in control.
Opinion Piece – (see how easy this is to make stuff up)
“It was told by close friends of CapnAmerica that at night he often wore nothing but bras and skirts while beating his chest, ranting “I am woman, hear me roar.” Close friends says the Capn also dabbled in black magic by sucking the “innards” of lizards while they were still alive.
Local health officials were concerned about Capn mental health as he has refused taking his Zoloft for about six months.”
Whats with the spammers. They’re getting thru again :-<

2 Women Sentenced in Western Arsonshttp://www.newsvine.com/_news/2007/06/01/749796-2-women-sentenced-in-western-arsons
“Suzanne Savoie and Kendall Tankersley were the fifth and sixth of 10 radical environmentalists to be sentenced in U.S. District Court in Eugene after they pleaded guilty to arson and conspiracy. All were members of an underground cell of the Earth Liberation Front (ELF) known as “The Family.”"
ELF also has the identical Global Warming Alarmist view as Cosmos and his cadre of Liberal Leftists.
They use terror tactics in the MSM by discrediting reputable scientists ruining their careers. Where is the ACLU in all of this? Why aren’t they protecting the freedom of speech for these Scientists?
Oh wait, never mind, the ACLU is too busy protecting child molesters and perverts.
This is the kind of people Cosmos aligns himself with.
I wonder if Capn sings that in a high-pitched female voice?
While wearing a bra, skirt and beating his chest….
http://news.nationaljournal.com/articles/070531nj1.htmHow a Missouri Republican operative interacted with the Justice Department in pursuit of a partisan agenda.Murray Waas
In the closing weeks of Missouri’s tight 2006 U.S. Senate race, the U.S. attorney in Little Rock, Ark., took the unusual step of revealing that his office’s investigation into possible state government contracting abuses in Missouri had found no evidence of wrongdoing by Republican Gov. Matt Blunt.
Separately, less than a week before Election Day, the interim U.S. attorney in Kansas City, Mo., brought voting-fraud charges against four employees of the activist group ACORN, which registers low-income people who typically vote for Democratic candidates. Justice Department guidelines discourage prosecutors from bringing criminal charges so close to an election.
Although the actions of the two U.S. attorneys were unconnected, they shared a common denominator: Mark (Thor) Hearne, a Republican Party operative who had served as national election counsel for the 2004 Bush-Cheney presidential campaign and played a behind-the-scenes role in both cases. Hearne’s role provides a window into how a Republican activist was pushing Bush administration officials — and perhaps in some cases working in concert with them — to use the Justice Department for partisan purposes.
. . . . .
Republicans feared that an investigation of the Blunt administration by the U.S. attorney in Arkansas, Bud Cummins, could tar Blunt and hurt Talent and other GOP candidates on the ballot. Blunt himself was not up for re-election. The investigation was spurred by allegations that the Blunt administration had improperly awarded state contracts to political contributors to run privately operated bureaus where Missouri residents obtain driver’s licenses and register their vehicles. Because of potential conflicts of interest, the U.S. attorneys in Missouri weren’t handling the investigation.

RepubliCONs using the Justice Department to throw elections?
Another historical low for those who know no shame and respect no law . . .
Capn,
When the attacks on your masculinity/sexual orientation start, you know they’ve got nothing.
What’s that, Tom?
Did someone attack and cheap-shot me?
I quit reading Republican and Sol awhile back . . .
“What I can’t believe is that Bush’s IRS would follow up on this.”
Perhaps someone wasnt paying enough “tribute” to bushco?
hehehehehehehehhehhe!
I cant believe that they are going after this guy when the little ayatollah, terry the talibaner, is still on the lose after his political activities.
Ditto for joe, even if he is retired. What is the statute of limitations on this? And cant they take away phred’s non profit status?
It’s a good start, but there are waaaaaaayyyyy bigger offenders than this guy. I think he just pissed off the wrong people.
And the REAL tax cheaters go unpunished. Speaking of which….
Did terry fox ever pay his property taxes?
“When the attacks on your masculinity/sexual orientation start, you know they’ve got nothing.”
Yep Tom. And they seem to be reduced to that more and more. They ought to pace themselves or they are going to run out of spittle and froth before the next election.
2008 is going to be so.much.fun.
Good morning, FrmGrrl. Did you order the rain? Because I’d like to send it back . . .
Ah, the paranoid…they think that dressing up as a female and singing in a high pitched voice is sexual orientation or about masculinity. They need to study Japanese history more. :)
What do y’all think about the XDR TB guy flying to Europe and back amongst unsuspecting passengers? I think I heard that his now father-in-law studies TB.
The guy apologized. That is the first trap door. When do you think the law suits will start? He is a lawyer, and so is his dad. Think he can dodge the bullets?
Hi Capn. Not a good day here. I got completely hailed out last night. Wheat and produce. :(
And it all looked so pretty yesterday. My how things can change in 24 hours.
And there are NO subsidies or crop insurance for veggies…
But the good news? The chickens are fine! Scared, but fine.
Farmgrrl,
Hugs to you. Anything I can do? Do you need help with any kind of cleanup? If so, maybe we can round up some of the KEC-SW folks.
Call if you need anything.
No subsidies for growing vegetables?
How does anyone know whether they should plant them, and how much of what types to plant?
How do farmers know what price to ask for at sale time?
I’d like to know more about how this happens without government intervention!
>When oh when will these Progressive Clown Liberals learn not to put up a story and then by omissions appear to point the finger at the wrong people? Talk about lying, that’s the worst.Posted by Republician
Don’t accuse me of omission.
And don’t accuse me of lying.
Did you even read the web site I posted the excerpt come from?….. BTW my finger was pointing nowhere.
Yeh, that truly sucks, FrmGrrl.
Just about 1 year ago at this time, we got golfball hail in my area of Wichita.
Got a brand new roof and gutters from my insurance, but still it wasn’t pleasant.
Maybe you can get some insurance for the wheat? Then take and feed it to the chickens? Just an idea . . .
Living in Kansas, it’s not for sissies.
I see the typical ignorance on tax code and how it applies to churches is still at large.
Thanks, Nathan, for knowing more about the tax code than the IRS.
Kinda like knowing more about evolution than the biologists and geneticists . . . and knowing more about earth science than geologists . . . and knowing more about global warming than NASA, etc.
Thanks Tom and Capn. The wheat was uninsured. Just didnt have the money to buy insurance this year.
Hee hee Tom. Thanks for the offer of cleanup help, but it was just the crops that got it, not the buildings. My Dad and Grandad built things sturdy. They knew farming AND living in ks were not for sissies.
I think the only help I need is a fundraiser….
Anon, are you the same one I had a conversation with, long ago, about the “magical mythical moderate middle”?
I dont always agree with you, but most of the time you crack me up. ONLY a subversive like me would try to farm without subsidies or insurance or government interference!
Hee hee hee.
In addition to the fundraiser, I could use some help to cry in my beer.
Could ya’ll bring the beer? :)
Well, nutz, FrmGrrl . . . Hey, I got it!
You could print off Republican’s comments and then spread it on your plants.
All that free bullsh*t . . .
Nathan,
Tax-exempt religious institutions are required by law to follow the IRS 501(c)(3) regulations that apply equally to _all_ charities. C3 charities are not permitted to engage in candidate campaigns (be they partisan or not), and are not permitted to advocate for the election or defeat of any candidate for elected office. Furthermore, c3 charities are permitted to spend only a fraction of their annual budget on direct issue advocacy. That fraction is decided on a case-by-case basis, but is generally accepted to be no more than 15%, and usually less than 10%, of an organization’s activities and budget.
Religious institutions are free to reorganize under 501(c)(4) or (c)(6), or 527, sections of the tax code. As c4’s, they can spend 100% of their budgets on issue advocacy, and as 527’s, they can engage in electoral politics. Of course, once they do that, they are no longer exempt from taxes, and contributions made to them are no longer tax-deductible as charitable contributions.
hee hee hee hee hee hee hee hee Capn!
Indeed. Lots of crap, but I think it’s chickenshit, not bullshit. That kinda manure is too hot to use directly. The toxicity would be too much…
KFG- I’m really sorry to hear of your recent ill fortune with Mother Nature- some times truly a real “Mutha”.
PS- I’d dial back the rain dancing!
voya con Dios
G
Well ya know Tom, these religious types are real law and order guys.
Until they’re not.
Seriously, though . . . Have you heard about deals city folk like me have worked out with their farming neighbors?
The buyers contract out to buy tomatoes-peppers-cucumbers etc. and the farmers send them boxes of veggies when they’re ripe.
That way, the farmer gets the money up front when they need it and the buyer also assumes some risk.
I’d be interested in doing that sometime. Veggies in the grocery store are sky high.
Hey gster, good to see you.
Yet another verse for the MTGLIB?
It should be an epic by now!
Looking on the bright side… I can skip at least one mowing out here. The hail even mowed down the WEEDS!
Tom,
Thank you. The problem is that KFG and others here don’t understand how that law actually applies when they keep demanding certain churches (if not all) have their tax exempt statuts removed.
Yeah capn, it’s called subscription gardening. The customer gets whatever is fresh and in season. I hadnt heard of the pay up front option, I’m more familiar with the monthly subscription method.
Given the dicey nature of our food supply right now, I have had MORE requests from customers to buy veggies than ever. The demand is huge.
My feathered friends wont really be in full egg production until next spring, but I already have more requests for eggs than I can fulfill. And they ARE happily munching on wheat from last year.
Another side note. I have had so many people volunteer to help butcher in exchange for some of the meat, that I need more chickens to accomodate everyone.
I’m tellin’ ya, the market is there. Now if I could just get the weather and my checkbook to sync up….
Nathan,
I live just a few blocks from Spirit One “Christian Center,” and have had direct contact with their candidates, their issue advocacy, and their willingness to use the pulpit and church facilities in violation of the IRS 501(c)(3) regulations. If any so-called religious institution deserves heightened IRS scrutiny, and eventual loss of their c3 status, it’s Spirit One.
My little pathetic backyard tomato and pepper plot . . . along about Labor Day, I get something worth picking, heigh ho . . .
In Illinois, I had seven foot high tomato plants and five foot high peppers. It used to just SNOW jalapeno peppers. I finally started selling them at the farmer’s market for 5 dollars a GALLON.
Out here, it goes from cold to hot so damn fast, it’s hard to get the plants big enough fast enough for them to set bud before the withering hot blasts set in.
CapnAmerica, that plan almost sounds like a market for vegetable futures, similar to futures markets that exist in many areas of endeavor.
Who knew that such a thing could work!
Tom,
I am not debating about Spirit One. I don’t know anything about them.
I am talking about all the other rhetoric from people like KFG on other churches (if not all) and by others.
Ah ha, subscription gardening. Thanks, now I know what to properly call it.
On a similar note, I haven’t found any co-op food stores in Wichita.
There is one in Newton.
Anybody know of one closer to Wichita?
I drove to work last night right inbetween the two storm systems. I had lighting all around me it was so beautiful.
Crops are insurable. I’m sure insurance companies are hating Kansas right now. and that’s so funny considering most of the ones who thought of the midwest as not worth it enough to come here started pushing for properties in the midwest hard after Katrina. HA.
By the way, that same company I”m thinking of most right now, saw them cancel a policy after paying out for two very legitimate claims. I hope they suck it.
I am talking about all the other rhetoric from people like KFG on other churches (if not all) and by others.Posted by: Nathan | June 01, 2007 at 10:35 AM
I just scrolled back through the whole thread, and didn’t see the rhetoric you’re describing.
Tom,
I will assume you missed this and are not so politically tainted you didn’t see it as the rhetoric I spoke of:
KFG
“I cant believe that they are going after this guy when the little ayatollah, terry the talibaner, is still on the lose after his political activities.
Did terry fox ever pay his property taxes?”
So, DID terry fox ever pay his property taxes? Render unto Ceasar and all…
I stand by my post. If the Spirit One guy deserves investigation, terry, joe and phred deserve it too.
They have BLATENTLY been political operatives while wrapping themselves in their non profit status.
I know you think churches are above the law, nathan, but some of us believe we are a nation of rule by law.
The taliban isnt in charge here. Yet.
Nathan,
Terry Fox repeatedly used his tax-exempt, charitable ministry at Immanuel Baptist Church to push for the election of conservative Republican candidates to the Kansas Legislature. He directly advocated for the defeat of any “moderate” Republican he disagreed with, and advocated for the removal of all Democratic elected officials in the state. Parts of this I observed directly. Parts I’ve been told directly by both Republican and Democratic elected officials whom he threatened. In January of 2005, he physically grabbed a state Senator, and told that Senator that if he voted against the marriage ban, Fox would see to it that the Senator in question be defeated in his next campaign.
As far as Joe Wright in concerned, I don’t know of any specific instance where he abused his tax-exempt ministry in the way Fox did. I’ve heard comments, some credible, some not.
And about Fox’s property taxes: Fox has owed back property taxes on his former home in NW Wichita for years. It’s a matter of public record.
heheheheheh. The TRUTH is an absolute defense.
Terry didnt pay his property taxes the last I checked. If he has paid them now, he is late at best.
At worst? He’s a law breaker.
I just love law and order republicans who want strict constructionist judges.
Until they dont.
I know the wrath of Joe and Terry. I experience it when I ran against Bon Bon Huy!
Farmgrrl,
Unfortunately, Phred’s lawyer-children know how to keep him on the lawful side of the c3 regulations.
heheheeh Tom.
So.. you are saying terry and joe and the spirit one guys just need better lawyers?
No disagreement there. But I dont think their IRS troubles have to do with their lawyers. It has to do with them thinking they are not subject to the law.
That is SO, like, for the little people.
Yeah Tom, my conservative Senator won’t even speak to Mr. Fox any longer.
I was ever so glad to hear that. And he also said it in the most convincing tone I think I’ve ever heard from him too. For real.
Hey farmgirl,
Sorry about the veggies. It’s just the first of June, plenty of time to replant some of them.
Wish I could help ya, but I still haven’t found time to put my little garden in. I’m in the thick of herding trials every weekend now. It probably won’t happen.
Still have asparagas and rhubarb. Soufles and pies!
Hank
I tell ya, you haven’t lived till you’ve discussed masturbation with a lawmaker! LOL.
It has to do with them thinking they are not subject to the law.Posted by: ksfarmgrrl | June 01, 2007 at 10:57 AM
Actually, it’s worse. People like Terry Fox and Mark Holick believe God has placed them above secular law. They use that belief to justify their flouting of the rules the rest of us are expected to follow.
Tom,
In regards to God’s commandments, I also believe them to be above secular law.
Tom, Joe Wright said a “prayer” of invocation to kick off a session of the Kansas House about eight years ago in which he said among other things that
“we have ridiculed the absolute truth of Your word in the name of moral pluralism. We have worshipped other gods and called it multiculturalism.
“We have endorsed perversion and called it an alternative lifestyle.”
Snopes.com has the entire outrage:
http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/outrage/wright.asp
Turns out he plagiarized the prayer from one Bob Russell who offered it at the Kentucky Gov’s Prayer Breakfast in 1995.
Interestingly, the e-mail version of Wright’s prayer editted out the homophobic bits and actually included a condemnation of people who shoot abortion doctors, which Joe Wright did not say in his version.
Capn,
He gets to say all those nasty, vicious things, and still keep his charitable status. It’s when he starts inserting his church into candidate advocacy that he’s run afoul of the regulations.
Nathan,
The next time your CO orders you to do something you believe contradicts your faith, I expect you to disobey your orders. Take your court martial like a man.
Nathan–
So do I, but I can’t use that as a basis for American law.
Because Paul said “a slave should obey his master” does not mean we can legalize slavery.
Because Leviticus says that homosexuals should be put to death does not mean we can do it.
That’s the difference between America and Saudi Arabia–they practice “shariah” law based on the Koran. We don’t recognize your religion or my religion or any other religion as the basis for American law–except for the religious universals of respect and justice.
KFG- RE: MTGLIB
JM Walker is the lyrics ninja- I just do the melody. The last rehearsal brought tears to my eyes, made my dogs howl and set off the smoke alarm!
If it gets any better, I’ll have to start thinking about carrying bail money at all times!
Hehehe, good one, Tom.
I enjoyed that . . .
Except the Marines are the right-hand of God.
It’s inconceviable that his CO could give an order contrary to the will of the Creator . . .
(heavy sarcasm)
According to Doug and his brethern, Terry Fox and his wife Barbara ETAL (remember that one?) still have not paid their delinquent taxes:
http://www.maggotpunks.com/mp.html
Why do churches get tax exempt status anyway? What is magically about a church or a mosque or a synagogue that qualifies them to go without paying taxes?
Tax everyone fairly – isn’t that the American Way?
heheheheh Steven. I thought about the ETAL too today.
Seems terry thinks he is above secular tax law for property taxes. It isnt a big logical jump to see that he thinks he is above the IRS law as well.
Hank, thanks for the kind thoughts.
I can replant everything but the short day onions and the tomatoes. All five hundred tomato plants are toast. By the time I would restart those, the first freeze would be here before harvest.
I feel like I need the waaaaambulance today….
Steven,
That image is from the Sedgwick County Appraiser’s online search results for delinquent taxes. If you go to the Sedg. Co. website, and search their records, you’ll see the original report. Unfortunately, the way that site is designed, there’s no way to post a link to the search results.
WS,
*All* charities get to claim tax-exempt status, as long as they play by the 501(c)(3) rules. United Way is an example, churches are examples, even the ACLU and ACLJ are examples. Churches don’t get any special treatment (or at least, not supposed to) beyond what is afforded other c3 organizations.
One of the favorite “voter education” card tactics is to NOT endorse a candidate specifically, but rather, reverse endorse candidates running against the candidates of their choice… So, if they are endorsing a republican, they reverse a democrat, to look like the devil him/her self… they think that gets them around the tax exempt thing… WS, I wish we had legislatures that would explore further that point you raise about taxes for all…
Tom,
I will.
Except there has never been a first time nor at this rate will there ever be.
Actually, the UCMJ is on my side.
If my CO were to order me to do something which is unlawful like slaughtering a village of children, I could refuse.
Luckily I live in a country whose laws coincide with Gods commandments for the most part.
Tom, you are very right on that… and by including the ACLU and ACLJ in your list, you should have no problem getting Nathan to agree with WS LOL
ohh nooo did i say that??
Crap! 500 tomatoe plants!? I feel like I’ve lost a friend!
Hank
Luckily I live in a country whose laws coincide with Gods commandments for the most part.Posted by: Nathan | June 01, 2007 at 11:30 AM
:::blank stare:::
Foolish idiots at Spirit One, what were they thinking of?
If only they were the AME Spirit One. . .
“Crap! 500 tomatoe plants!? I feel like I’ve lost a friend!”
heheheh Hank!
I feel like I lost my babies!
All five hundred were started from seeds, under the lights, carefully nurtured since February.
I cant replicate that until next year. :( I feel the price of salsa going up…
I think you are confused with religious practices and the basic commandments.
I will not murder regardless of law.
I will not steal regardless of law.
I will not worship a false god or idol regardless of law.
Those are the things I am talking about.
So you’re only talking about *specific* commandments, not all of them.
Okay.
I get it now.
Thanks for clearing that up.
Nathan, there are 613 Commandments in the Bible, not just four. The most important one is, “Thou shalt not boil a kid in its mother’s milk.”
And what if your church should tell you that paying taxes is the worship of a false god?? But, paying taxes is a LAW??
The Bible says, “Render unto Caesar what’s Caesar’s…” but Holick only reads those parts of the Bible which he finds convenient.
Chas,
It has nothing to do with what my church says.
It is what God says.
Doug,
Once again you show your lack of understanding of Christianity.
ya know, we are giving this Holick person a LOT of attention here today… I wonder how many turned out for his “press” conference??
Right Nathan, the Bible only lists four Commandments, not 613. Those silly Jews don’t know how to write their own Torah. Thank goodness we have you to clear things up.
So, does that mean, Nathan, that this Holick guy might be wrong??
I didn’t mean those SPECIFIC 4, I meant those types of commandments.
Sheesh, you guys are grasping at straws today trying to get me.
Uh oh is that paranoia i smell on the blog today??
613 Commandments Nathan. Perhaps you should try reading the Bible you worship.
http://www.aish.com/literacy/mitzvahs/The_613_Commandments.asp
Chas,
I don’t know anything much about the guy.
And Tom, there are a lot of those that just wont fly in our freedom loving country anymore…
Doug,
We are talking about Christianity not Jews.
Like I said… no understanding
Then why did you reference Judaic law earlier hypocrite?
Ummm Nathan, does that mean you dont accept the Old Testament as God’s Law??
I’d click on your link Steven, but that would be giving Doug and the other fools there visitor count. And I’d have to get an antibiotic.
Maggot Punks. “When you hate enough to click the very worst”. (Copyright outlander enterprises- all rights reserved)
Nathan, these people are not interested in accuracy or understanding. They are only interested in argument. That’s good though, because they have demonstrated their ignorance of the subject.
Damn outlander, I was so counting on you coming to the website so I could brag about how I finally made the big time because you visited the website. It just proves that you avoid any facts that would confuse your simplistic mind.
BTW, there are still 613 Commandments, contrary to what you may believe. Perhaps you should learn something about your religion.
Yeah, I remember the last time I tried to get outlander to click on a maggot punk link; there was an interview Doug did with an academic/theology guy – who forensically kicked Doug’s ass [in my opinion, anyway] – a feat that requires waking up very early in the a.m.
Outlander wouldn’t go there. Some horses you can’t even lead to water. But, that’s okay, it’s important that those horses stay the way they are…
For those of you who don’t remember, someone claiming to be Barbara Fox posted here saying the given documents were not them because their last name was not ETAL (the abbreviation for the latin term that means “and others”) — that was a hoot.
Thanks Steven, I found it and it is funny:
“I followed the link about the taxes, and found that there must be another Terry Fox, with a wife named Barbara. However, her last name is listed as Etal or something like that. My maiden name was Humphrey. My middle name is Ann. Please note on the blog that we did indeed pay our taxes.”

Cosmos,
Hey, instead of trying to get people to believe your people, how about some links to what we can do to lessen our carbon foot print – at least as individuals first.
I ask because you seem to be the most authoritative source on carbon issues.
SolDevVB,

Topeka man sentenced to probation for youth rape convictionStory by Associated Press
4:42 p.m. Saturday, May 26, 2007
A Topeka man convicted of repeatedly raping and sodomizing a 14-year-old girl was sentenced to three years probation, rather than nearly 13 years in jail.
Orlando Paul Cisneros was released Friday from the Shawnee County Jail after Judge Matthew Dowd sentenced him to three years of intensive supervised probation.
A jury had found Cisneros guilty of 17 charges, including aggravated indecent liberties, criminal sodomy and rape. Under sentencing guidelines, Dowd could have sentenced Cisneros to 13 years in jail.
District Attorney Robert Hecht said he would appeal the sentence.
Dowd said he departed from sentencing guideline in part because he believed Cisneros had a good chance of being rehabilitated, and because he thought there was no permanent, severe damage to the victim.

Unflipping believeable! I don’t care if he can be rehabilitated later, he still deserves to serve his sentence.
“Ah, the paranoid…they think that dressing up as a female…”
You mean like Rudy Giuliani? And isn’t he a (gasp) Republican candidate for President?
Seriously? What do we have to do to get this judge off the bench? NO last damage to the victim? Has HE ever been a victim of rape to know???????????????????????????OMG!!!!!!!!!
Looks like somebody has something over Judge Matthew Dowd. Perhaps the defending lawyers?
I don’t have a problem with voter guides as long as they don’t endorse a candidate or party. What I have a problem with is any church where the preacher invites politicians he likes to come in and speak to a captive audience. And yes, that applies to liberal black churchs too. If a politician wishes to speak, the preacher should simply say “today we have XXX and he would like to speak to those of you who would like to stay around for a few minutes AFTER the service to hear him.

Kev, generally, I try to stay out of the public spotlight.
XXX for President! Let’s all get together and start a campaign! Grass roots and all.
Am I conservative enough to speak in this church?

Like the ones Obama and Clinton speak at in their fake southern accents?
I’ve just been letting everything happen without me these days. I’ve pretty much been doing nothing , but oh well. More or less nothing notable going on to speak of. I just don’t have anything to say these days, but maybe tomorrow.
