If anybody wants Brownback, check Iowa

Sam Brownback will spend Monday through Thursday on a bus, visiting 27 communities in — where else? — Iowa. "My road to the White House began in Parker, Kan., where I grew up on a farm, and now takes me through Iowa," Brownback said in a campaign statement. "It was growing up in the Heartland that I learned the conservative values and principles that will guide me as president. I am thrilled to meet with families, business owners, senior citizens and the hardworking people of the Hawkeye State." Meanwhile, the hardworking people of the Sunflower State have no choice but to put up with his presidential bid. He missed three more Senate votes early last week, bringing his total missed votes for the year to 67 of 212, or 31.6 percent.
But Brownback always can be found on YouTube these days, including in this twisted, unauthorized animation of a campaign statement.

Is this guy still our senator? He’s missed so much work I’m surprised Tom Delay hasn’t sent out the Department of Homeland Security to drag him back to the Capitol.

Hey Rhonda, I don’t think the animation is unauthorized since the creator of the animation is the same person who put it on Youtube.

Tom Delay is no longer in the House, and BTW Brownbutt is in the Senate. BTW he voted FOR the AMNESTY Bill so he is not that great of a conservative. Let alone missing 2/3s of his votes!

DON’T KEEP BRINGING IT UP- maybe he’ll stay on the campaign trail forever and will miss ALL his senate votes.

I PRAY HARD (meaning that my brow is really furrowed and my eyes shut really tight) that Republican (and all like him) will volunteer to go to Iraq and help bring Democracy to that Muslim nation.

Unfortunately, I’m beginning to think that they are all lying hypocrites. Did Susan Schlagle sign up after talking with Bush the other day?

    I think NOT!

Hmmm… When did missing work 2/3 of the time while drawing a FULL paycheck become a Heartland value?

That must be a conservative “value” and “principle”.

The Eagle really has a beef with Brownback. I am sure many in Kansas are proud that he is running for president. I am sure though that many in the Eagle are mad that he doesn’t share their liberal phiolosphy. I hope the Eagle can look beyond their narrow-minded ideology and give him a fair shake. What am I saying? I don’t think that is going to happen. I am sure that the Eagle will continue to start petty blogs complaining about everything under the sun just because he is an evolution infidel and a conservative.

oh god, I am gonna puke. Just because he is from kansas does NOT mean I am proud of him. He is a disgrace and a waste of air space. His wife is the quntisential stepford woman and he has no value for people beneath him. Want him as president? Hell I wouldn’t even vote for him as dog catcher of Park City

John_S claims The Eagle has a liberal bias.

He apparently doesn’t actually read The Eagle.

Today, for instance, they ran Kathleen Parker, Idiot, again.

What was the burning issue for this passionate right-wing ideologue?

Why, a cartoon about a kid with “two moms,” of course.

    ON FATHERS’ DAY!

    Oh, the outrage, the humanity!

I wish it were so simple to say that Brownback is an “evolution infidel.”

Brownback’s a SCIENCE INFIDEL. If only his ignorance were limited to evolution, we’d be….well, there’s no way we’re better off or lucky with Brownback in power, so let’s just say we’d be luckiER.

He’s also continuing what appears to be a social experiment conducted by the GOP on the USA. Namely, if you say things really nicely, with a really soft, caring voice, then you can say the most outrageous things imaginable…and get away with it.

Sam Brownback is a very dangerous candidate. He’s an example of the kind of politician who would, indeed, be “all up in every woman’s general cooter region” if possible.

Liberals, including the Eagle, you are painfully missing one particular value: sportsmanship.

Maybe CLASS and RESPECT and GRACE can all be lumped under that “Sportsmanship” value, as well.

Yes, there are conservatives and Republicans who also need some help, in this department.

For instance, Rush Limbaugh recently had a chance encounter with Bill Clinton, in a restaurant. Clinton actually went to Limbaugh’s table and shook his hand. Limbaugh has always said that Clinton was a man he would like to play golf with or have a beer with, that it was nothing personal, that he just disagreed with the man.

That is CLASS, on the part of both men, that they could shake hands and acknowledge one another.

On the other hand, many of Limbaugh’s listeners went NUTS over this “betrayal”.

Many of Clinton’s supporters will not, to this day, believe that Clinton actually made the first contact with Limbaugh.

This is also a lack of class, among childish, immature partisans on both sides.

The Eagle is even more childish.

Well said Econ. In days past there wasn’t such a deep divide between parties. I am one of 8 siblings and 4 are demo – 4 repub. We never argue about politics. We have issues we all agree on and have some we will never agree on.

We meet several weeks a year in some place like Branson and have a great time. My 92 year old mom is always there and a yellow dog demo as my dad was. She still thought it was funny when I had Bush send her a birthday card on her 90th birthday.

We have to come together as a voter block to say enough of the back room deals on both sides of the aisle. We are being sold down the river and they are laughing as they do it.

The Eagle should be reporting the news and not turning every action into an editorial to attack the conservatives.

    LOL

Uh, where did that deep divide come from?

I remember commuting daily from just south of Salina to Wichita in 1993. I always caught Limbaugh on the air during that time, and his attacks on Clinton were vicious. For example, he regularly sold ad time to a group led by Jerry Falwell hustling a videotape that purported to “prove” the Clintons guilty of extremely vile and illegal behavior. Including multiple murders, if I recall correctly (I believe the videotape was called the Christian Chronicles; always got a big laugh out of that since it seemd doubtful it was either Christian or a chronicle).

I believe it was the “conservatives” who kicked off the amping-up of partisanship we see reflected everywhere today. And of course it was Karl Rove who CHOSE to win elections and govern by throwing the reddest of meat to his base.

And now Econ101 and ksgrm apparently want the Democrats to shake hands and extend big sloppy make-up kisses all around.

    LOL

Paul Rosell – Rush Limbaugh does not have, or has ever had any class. All this man did was to see how rabid the Christian Right was about Clinton and he exploited their hatred into making himself millions of dollars. so, let’s not make Rush into some kind of saint just for shaking Clinton’s hand. Hell, he should kiss Clinton’s feet for making him such a wealthy man!

  26. Posted June 18, 2007 at 12:23 am | Permalink

Fedup, would that be the same Rush Limbaugh who said everyone who uses drugs should be sent to prison while he was hooked on Oxycontin?

Is that the same classy Rush Limbaugh who attacked the child, Chelsea Clinton by calling her a dog?

Is this the same honorable Rush Limbaugh who thinks the torture and murder of captured enemies is a good way to “blow off steam”?

Anyone who thinks highly of this jerk must be of low moral character indeed. That couldn’t possibly be any neo-con on this forum, could it?

How about a recall petition for Brownback?

He is obviously working his own agenda and not that of his constituents here in Kansas.

Missing 31.6 percent of the votes is unacceptable. The only other member of Congress that has missed more votes, is John McCain.

A recall petition, would serve notice that the citizens of Kansas are watching, and that Mr. Brownback will be held accountable for his lack of work on our behalf.

Limbaugh was caught with Viagra while going on an overseas trip. Being such a patron of family values and abstinence before marriage (Rush being single at the time) what was the Viagra going to be used for?

Was it going to be used like Neil Bush on his trip to Asia where he couldn’t help having sex with underage prostitutes because they were brought to his door?

  33. Posted June 19, 2007 at 1:52 am | Permalink

Well, lmba, the boys would explain why Rush’s last 3 marriages didn’t pan out . . .

And don’t forget, Doug, Neil brought home a nice case of herpes as a souvenir, which unlike the clap, cannot be cured.

Just another episode in the Bush Family Evil Empire Parade of Scandal.
