Clinton has company up front

Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama are neck and neck with 37 percent and 36 percent, respectively, according to the new USA Today/Gallup pollof Democrats and independents about the Democratic presidential candidates. Among Democratic voters, Clinton still registers 5 percentage points ahead, and — it always bears saying — it’s really, really early. But with rumors that Obama’s second-quarter fundraising number is going to be huge, this tightening of the race has to have Clinton on edge.

Clinton will be the chosen one and then she can have Obama for her running mate

Not much to choose from is there? Like voting for dumb or dumber, no wonder it’s so close.

Bill never won an election with more than 50% of the vote. Hillary will never win over 1/2 or more either. Only half the population is BELOW AVERAGE.

What about Carl Bernstein’s book about Hillary coming out. Bet that will boost Obama’s numbers.

And Republican. There is a good chance that the first primary may be held is early as December or even November of this year.

Hilary Clinton = George Bush in a skirt.

It looks like this is the best the Dems have to offer. Neither one has any experience running anything, yet here they are, campaigning for the most powerful executive position in the world.

If the Dems would run someone qualified, this race would be a foregone conclusion. All I can say is, thanks!

Actually, GW would look a lot more attractive than the Hildebeast in a skirt.

Polls are answered by people who pick up a phone.

Elections are won by people motivated to get out and vote.

    Big difference.

    *****

    LHG–

You are technically correct that Bill Clinton never won more than 50 percent of the vote when he ran for president in 1992 and 1996.

But that was because Ross Perot pulled a sizable percentage as a third party candidate.

Bill Clinton, however, DID win the MOST votes–unlike Bush in 2000 who lost by 600,000 votes nationally.

Not only did Bush not get 50 percent, he didn’t even get the most votes.

    Good morning Capn!

Interesting comment about the polls. Another TTBOI on polls is that only about 20-25% of the people that answer their phones aggree to participate in the question/answer period.

So what you get is a poll from people that are so bored they will aggree to participate in a poll.

I’ve been polled a few times and they must answer my quesions first.

    1. Where are you calling from? (I’ll ask this question from any unsolicited phone call)

    2. Who is paying for this poll?

    3. How did you get my name?

Generally they won’t answer my questions and I won’t answer theirs.

I Don’t like the questions on most polls. I think that most polls would not really get a clear idea of what I think on most subjects with their questions. I do believe they can get the responses they desire.

Hank – the last poll I have gotten was from a local TV station. They led with that information for me before moving on the the questions. That kind of poll I am likely to answer.

    Hank, Ben:

Yea, I’ve gotten few of those calls. Not only will I ask my own questions, I will lie.

Yes, I said it. I will lie.

Polls are generally motivated by folks looking for a particular result to generate support for some cause. And I won’t play. And any office holder who lets polls play a significant part in making his/her decisions isn’t fit to hold office.

And yea, this is ridiculous. It’s a YEAR AND A HALF until election day. Stop this, now. Establish 4-8 regional primaries, beginning, oh, say March and ending late July. Enough with this moving primaries ahead so a state can get more “influence” in choosing the president.

As to the front runners: Just what is the resume of either of these two? Obama is a freshman Senator, elected in a gimme seat. Hillary rode hubby’s coattails (how’s that for a feminist icon?) as long as the could, and then parachuted, carpetbag in hand, into a state for the purpose of running for president, not representing New Yorkers (how can you represent people you don’t know?); it says a lot that she couldn’t win in the state she had lived in for 20+ years.

    These are front runners?

GMC – I tend to like the idea of small states early. The reason: it allows an ‘up-start’ to focus on a manageable area and perhaps break from the well-financed pack. That seems the only way for an outsider to have a chance.

Wanna keep the tradition of New Hampshire first? Fine. Put it in March, and let the others follow. But put a stop to this endless, and pointless move to front-load primaries.

    Hank,

Yesterday you used the term OsamaObama, something, now labeling Hillary a Hildebeast.

    What’s wrong with you?

Something is to waste time labeling those people with your imaginations.

    GMC,

Obama’s less record in Congress has allowed him not to be bullied too long voting along party lines.

It doesn’t mean he’s not qualified for President.

The large group of Republicans aren’t any better. Some have terrible backgrounds, like McCain, many hate that guy.

Guiliani is flawed in his personal life. His consultation business helps hide corporate fraud and crimes. They shill political protection so less corporate fines happen. The drug company making OxyContin is one of them.

That drug for years was pushed as non addictive, by the corporate, when it clearly was. The drug made enormous profits at expense of citizens lives. Addicted to that, people went crazy.

People should sue that company out of business. Less addictive pain killers can be made.

Guilani’s company gets political protection for that drug maker against lawsuits.

The actor, will look worse without TV make up on. Doesn’t he have some cancer or something in remission right now. By election time, that guy could be sick.

His health care is paid for while many Americans go bankrupt and die too early from the same problems he has.

Romney spent one term as Governor, led the biggest corruption scandal winter Olympics in Utah. International shame created.

Let’s pick the candidate for President, less scandalized!

Maybe Newt is your man? What a joke!

Forget that. Here is what will happen: Al Gore and Obama will make a deal behind the scenes and Gore will get in the race in July or August (he can wait because he has name recognition). Obama will then step down and support Gore. Gore will beat Hillary and pick Obama as VP. Obama serves as VP for 8 years and then Gore supports him to be President. This will happen I think.

Then Kev woke up from his Dream and found Fred Thompson talking on TV, delivering the State of the Union address.

“Romney spent one term as Governor, led the biggest corruption scandal winter Olympics in Utah. International shame created.”

Why do you misrepresent the facts? Romney came in at the end and essentially saved the 2000 Olympics. It was a huge success story.

Heroic Romney? Adequate. He didn’t sweep the corruption out. Justice department, criminal prosecutions, slap downs within the Olympic organization.

Your right, Romney wasn’t at fault for the scandals in Utah before he took over.

Mr. Willard just got lucky from circumstances. The Winter Olympics were in the hole big time and if it weren’t for a large infusion of cash from the Federal Government, somewhere around $300 million, the Salt Lake City Olympics would have been a disaster.

By the way, the Federal Government stepped in, because of security concerns from 9/11, that is why they have the Olympic Committee that much cash.
