At least Roberts did his homework on NIE

People may not like how Sen. Pat Roberts, R-Kan., handled the issue of Saddam Hussein and weapons of mass destruction during his time on the Senate Intelligence Committee, but at least Roberts was among the few senators who read the full 92-page National Intelligence Estimate before voting to go to war. “I thought he had WMD based on the NIE report of 2002,” Roberts recently told the Hill newspaper. Sen. Sam Brownback, R-Kan., said during a recent presidential debate that he didn’t recall reading the full NIE report, but believed he understood the threat from hearings, briefings and the like.

Whether or not Roberts read it his rubber stamp would still support Bush.

Pat Roberts is just another slick willy politician that is out for himself. But it is the stupid voters in Kansas that will once again re-elect the little bald guy because he may be a crook, but he is their crook.

One of the things I read that was in the conclusion was that there was no hard proof that Saddam had continued in his attempt to gain WMDs. If we are talking about the NIE of 2002.

Pat Roberts traded the lives of our troops, and one trillion in treasure for the farm bill. I guess Kansas will re-elect him for that.

Hey, what about the Phase II report that you promised the American people three years ago, Pat? How come you ran from the Senate Intelligence Committee the minute the Dems controlled the Senate? Didn’t think you could lie and hide anymore?

Pat Roberts also helped delay the NIE report from coming out for over four yeara. I would think it would be hard for him to sleep at night knowing he could have opened his mouth as head of the committe and stopped this terrible war. He would have been a hero for saving 3554 American soliders lives.

Pat “Ol’ Rubberstamp” Roberts completely bought the line that Saddam had WMD’s.

    Okay . . .

But how was Saddam going to deliver those weapons?

Apparently they thought that 500 Iraqis were going to get together and throw the stuff at us.

And what about Colin Powell and Condelezza Rice saying that he “was in a box” and “posed no threat to anyone?”

And why was Hans Blix’s inspections called off after just a couple of months . . . as soon as OUR invasion force was ready?

Simply believing that Saddam had WMD’s is not enough. Our leaders 1. have to be sure of it 2. see that WMD’s are a real threat considering that Iraq has never engaged in ANY world-wide terrorism 3. consider the effects of invading and occupying a Middle Eastern country for the better part of a decade.

    Nope.

“I was stupid enough to believe the Administration’s lies” is not a good excuse for the debacle we’re in.

Sure users can be banned Capn, I own a Typepad Website. They most likely have the corporate version, I have the professional one.

You’re just mad because you cannot control who says what on this blog.

Just because you don’t like someone’s ideology, opinions or just don’t like them is not sufficient reason to ban them imo.

As I said before, we are the guinea pigs of the WE Eagle. Some days I’m sure they glean some pretty good insights about what directions to take a news story or an editorial.

Other days, they would probably want to sweep the WE Blog under the rug and forget about it.

Self-importance on this Blog is irrelevant. When you step outside of the Blog, you still are who you are. There are no Blog character rankings nor are there contests to see who has the largest virtual influence.

If you want to create an influence, start your own Blog, obtain some followers, advertise it and submit Blog articles to the MSM.

There’s nothing here that will make you a “Rock Star” of blogging. This is not about us, the Bloggers, it’s about Wichita Eagle utilizing this resource as another tool in their journalistic bag.

Stop focusing on the “we” and “them” in the Wichita Eagle blog. The only “we” in this Blog stands for the Wichita Eagle.

Pat Roberts has never truly lived in Kansas. His “residence” is a landlocked wheat field. He’s from Ohio just like Sebelius. The corporations that run the American political system pick places like Kansas to run some no-name stooge because they know they can beat practically anyone who’s local. Didn’t Tiahrt move to Goddard from South Dakota about five minutes before filing against Glickman? I’m sure there are others. Yet the people of Kansas never see through this smokescreen. Of course, the lazy, corrupt Kansas news media can’t be bothered with anything more than rewriting press releases. That’s why nobody knows that one representative, one senator, and one governor are owned lock, stock, and barrel by outside interests.

  21. Posted June 24, 2007 at 11:46 am | Permalink

Yes Chas, I was complaining about “left coasters” infiltrating the WE Blog.

We Kansans, of course get to comment on what’s around us and involves us.

We just don’t need “border ruffians” like what happened during Bleeding Kansas to come in and stir up trouble.

A lot of the posters here who are Liberal aren’t originally from Kansas or not from Kansas at all and do not know what makes up Kansas values including the what Kansas Liberal Values are.

People outside of Kansas who weren’t raised here, have no clue of what it means to be Kansan. Therefore they add some good things, but when they start assigning values that are not Kansan or never will be Kansan, then they need to leave.

So, if you “foreigners” don’t like my Kansas comments, feel free to get on your virtual plane and fly on out.

If “they need to leave” isnt in the same ball park as wanting them “banned” Then you got a thinking problem… Oh excuse me, we already know that!!

Give Republican a break. He lies so often you can’t expect him to keep track of all the lies he spews. And just because he doesn’t know what the concept of banning someone is doesn’t mean he can’t open up a dictionary, he just needs someone to read it to him because he’s intimidated by knowledge.

It is clear to me Chas, that you don’t have a clue what it means.

  36. Posted June 24, 2007 at 12:08 pm | Permalink

Hmmm, if I kick all smokers out of a bar then I’m not really banning them, I’m giving them the freedom of being outside the bar. Or, if I don’t allow women the right to vote I’m not really banning them I’m just allowing them to pursue other options, as long as it isn’t voting.

Anyway you try to spin it it’s still banning. Perhaps you have a different definition than the rest of the English speaking community.

You said very plainly, that if they(non-kansans) cant write things that reflect what YOU understand to be Kansas opinions, and values, then “they need to leave.” NEED TO LEAVE… go away and not return… BAN!!!

    Really?

Did it say that Saddam and Al Qaeda were linked?

    LIE.

Did it say that Saddam had tons and tons of chemical and biological weapons?

    LIE.

Did it say that he could deliver those weapons in as little as 45 minutes?

    LIE.

Did it say that the only way we could protect ourselves was to “attack them over there so they wouldn’t attack us here?”

    LIE.

Did it say that according Richard Pape from the Univ of Chicago (author of “Dying to Kill: The Logic of Suicide Bombers”) the single motivating factor for suicide bombers from Lebanon to Tamil Tigers to Kamikaze pilots to Al Qaeda is a desire to run off occupiers of their homeland?

No. Because that wasn’t a lie.

    Posted June 24, 2007 at 6:00 pm | Permalink

Hello everyone!!!Well it’s been a couple of weeks since my last letter to the group. I just want to start off by saying that it has been one of the toughest times of my life and without your prayers I don’t think I would have made it this far. If it hadn’t been for the Lord that’s for sure. Keep your prayers up my friends. The Army is in a reaaly bad spot right now. What we hear our leadership telling the American people isn’t the case at all really. The common line soldier is not being heard. I want you to know the truth. The truth from a soldier from the gound in the middle of Baghdad. We are not making progress. I can tell you from the last time I was here in 05 that we are fighting a whole new beast. Instead of a few individuals from a different land we are now fighting the whole country.

The streets are empty. The people that supported liberty and freedom have long been killed or have moved. I cleared a group of houses the other day that was at least 50% abandoned. The only people that seem to want us here are the people we put in power. How is this a Godly war? How is forcing our way on another country that doesn’t want us here the right answer. Sure the government we put in place needs our help, yet we gave them power for which they aren’t inclined to give up too easily. This county is in the middle of a civil war. They tell us we are on Iraq’s side. Well Iraq wants to be free to fight their own battles, Sunni and Shiite alike.

All this being said it’s not the fight for freedom that upsets me. If I saw citizens dragging terrorists in the streets and wanting Liberty I would gladly give my life for that cause. That is not the case at all. The people keep thier mouth’s shut and therefore the Terrorists leave them alone. Thats all they want anyway.

Well a Army is held together by a “cause” . A cause to hold the soldiers together, a cause to give them some cause for sacrifice. Four of my close friends gave that sacrifice the other day. Death is part of a soldiers life. It is the accepted risk. The price for Liberty. The hardest part has been justifying thier sacrifice. Is so many good many lost worth the freedom of a country who doesn’t really want us here. I say no.

When is this going to stop? When is enough, enough? Please we need your help. The common soldier needs your help. The soldier that signed up to serve and protect his country with no political gain needs your help. The command is not representig the truth. They are representing thier careers. It is costing you your son’s and daughter’s lives. Please stand up and help us. Bring us home!! Bring your sons and daughters home…..it’s time.

I am a believer in my Christ Jesus. I pray everyday that the Lord will bring His wisdom down on the leadership of our country. I believe that these people have seen nothing but violence their entire life. How are we bringing them any difference. Christ looked at the individual. We need to help this country one person at a time with the love of Christ. The Lord will bring His Judgement when the time is right. There are good people here, yet they are ruled by fear. They need Christ’s love.

I dont think they have the burdon of liberty on their hearts yet. You have to want, desire, and yearn for Liberty and be willing and ready to sacrifice everythig for that cause. That is what I don’t see. It has a heavy cost and it cannot be bought by anyone butyourself. Please send this to whomever you please, The county need to know the truth. In fact, please send this out to as many people as you want.

    Now, you’re getting it, Chas.

I proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that Repuke’s post that “Gore said he invented the internet” was total crap.

You can bet that in two days, Repuke will be repeating his assertion.

Facts don’t matter to it. It exists in a reality-free zone of its own making.

    It isn’t worth it.

    Walk on by.

Seriously, Capn… there is nothing that can be done about this person, and its attitudes, and smear language?? I consider what he says about my religious leanings libelous… Is there no recourse against it??

  92. Posted June 24, 2007 at 8:10 pm | Permalink

What’s sad is Capn doesn’t realize he is irrelevant and no one really cares what he writes because most people think he’s a far left socialistic kook.

He’s right in line with Ed Friedemann and Hurst Wessell as far as extremism goes.

    Chas,

When you treat me fairly, I’ll do the same. You have been issuing your spew from day one towards me the moment you “mysteriously” (fister, cough, fister) showed up on this Blog.

NOBODY can treat you fairly — You are a nut case… When you cant deal with facts, you attack a PERSON you dont even know… You throw around your insults, like you own this particular medium… The only way to treat you fairly is to just IGNORE anything you post on here… Which is what I will do…

Fantastic Chas, best news I’ve heard all day.

Remember now, you cannot insinuate, write around, hint or even suggest I’m even here if you are to ignore me.

Unlike the “walk on by” crowd that still acknowledge my existence and have their panties in a wad I’m still here. :)

Those who can afford it WSClark. People will sue just because they think they might get something out of you, even if the lawsuit is frivolous.

Actually, there are moderately priced plans for attorney retainers in all cases. It beats thumbing through the Yellow Pages when you need something done (real estate, Wills, contracts, etc.)

Plus you know who you are dealing with and what their success rate is.

Try and keep up with the real world Clarkie.

Chas: You cannot argue with the irrational, anymore than you can pretend that it is still dark when the Great Light returns in the morning.

WSClark: How long will you allow someone to hit you with poison arrows, before you strike back in self defense?

Republican: It is never a good thing to keep all of your poison arrows with you at the same time. For, if you do, you will surely step on one, and be extinguished by your own poison.
