Rice trying to avert Cold War II

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Russian President Vladimir Putin apparently both want to ratchet down the trash talk between the two countries. “The relationship needs to be free of exaggerated rhetoric,” Rice said in Moscow Tuesday. But hard as it is to overlook Putin’s words, such as seeming to liken the United States to the Third Reich in a recent speech, it will be harder to overlook Putin’s increasingly authoritarian actions.

God you would think the Russians would be laughing at us in Iraq. The way we laughed at them in Afghanistan.

Putin has made anti-peace statements since day one. What’s new?

There is still a segment of hard-liners in Russia that would like to see the old ways reinstalled.

Writerdog, I don’t remember us laughing at them when they put explosives in toys and dolls.

Maybe, but I don’t remember it.

Actually we were pretty smug watching as the USSR broke itself against Afghanistan. They didn’t get beat; just worn down. Kind of like what’s happening to us in Iraq.

With bush at the helm, there are many countries that look at us as the world bully, instead of the world diplomat we should be. But then, with his actions, it is deserved.

It will take more than rice to shift that; it will take a president who understand that diplomacy rarely, if ever, comes out of a barrel of a gun. Bush hardly fits that bill.

Thank you XXX, G we were happy as all get out that the Russians was so bogged down. In some ways it was nice to see them having their own Vietnam.

The one really good thing Reagan did, Bush and Putin are undoing.

Reagan would be spitting nails and you all know it.
