Bob Novak finds where Gov. Sebelius was during Greensburg tornado: Jazz Festival in New Orleans!
Why isn’t this story reported by the Kansas press? The Robert Novak column in yesterday’s New York Post says this:

“Bush administration officials, stung by complaints from Democratic Gov. Kathleen Sebelius that National Guard heavy equipment needed by tornado-stricken Greensburg, Kan., is in Iraq, are putting out word that she was two days late at the disaster scene because she was attending a jazz festival in New Orleans.”
“Sebelius’ office told this column that she was out of the state with her family to attend the New Orleans Jazzfest 2007 on May 4, when the tornado hit Kansas. She returned on a plane loaned by Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Blanco. Sebelius would be a top vice-presidential possibility if anyone other than Sen. I don’t recall the Kansas press reporting this other Sebelius connection to Louisiana Gov. Blanco: Sebelius was the keynote speaker (see http://www.bestofneworleans.com/dispatch/2007-03-06/news_scut.php ) at the Louisiana Center for Women and Government’s Hall of Fame (see http://www.nicholls.edu/lcwg/ ) on March 10. The Hall of Fame ceremony was the crowning event of the second annual meeting of Louisiana’s Women Leaders, founded by Gov. Kathleen Blanco.
Who benefited from Sebelius’ comments about the National Guard equipment? The victims of Greensburg did not benefit since their Kansas neighbors were taking care of them. Sebelius was the big winner of her political comments. But during a disaster we need leadership, not a politician.

Raptor, I second JM’s post, and JM I thank you for expressing the general sentiments of all legitimate posters on this blog. So sad it’s happened on the very holiday on which we try to remember the full measure of the honest sacrifices made in the defense of our liberty – whether or not the ultimate justifications for those sacrifices were in the national interest.
You are absolutely correct, BFAH. This is a day to honor those that have served and those that have lost their lives in our name.
To attack someone like Raptor, who with his friends, stands up for all reasonable men and women against the forces of hate and divisiveness, is the height of disrespect for this day.

Interesting. It’s classic “blame the victim” behavior. “Blame the victim” is what bullies and abusers do to their actual victims.
I don’t believe you’ve never been married, Mr “Blank”/Republican/whoever the hell you are. I believe you are a sad, lonely man who has failed at every relationship you’ve tried to form, who’s been abandoned by those women you’ve tried to victimize. I guess I don’t get it. Blank is daring us to report him on the one hand, and then claiming we’ll be surprised when we find out who was banned. Does this sound a bit fishy? You want to be reported so that people will be amazed when your identity is revealed? Perhaps there’s some serious mental imbalance here. I tend to think not. I think there are definite psychological problems, but I suspect this is some sort of “trap”. I’m certainly no computer hacking expert, but I wouldn’t be surprised if blank is somehow redirecting the sources of his emails back to the IP information of a legitimate poster.

What’s more likely is that Mr Blank has been using two nics here fairly regularly, and using different connection points (and possibly different computers) to post.
It’s fairly easy to do, especially if one, for example, subscribes to AOL. You can access your AOL account over your broadband, but part of your subscription also gives you dialup access. That would leave no connection between addresses. There are other ways to hide your online tracks, that require varying degrees of sophistication.
All this is speculation, of course. I have no idea who Mr Blank is at this point, no idea what other nics he may or may not be posting under, and wouldn’t believe a word he told me one way or the other.

That’s even more frightening. The only reason that I can think of for being excited about being “outed” is that you want everyone to be “shocked” by the revelation of someone we were all “fooled” into thinking was a thoughtful blogger. That would mean a pretty long-range plan, and posting with two distinctly different points of view – on both sides of an issue – so that in the end you can “dump” one to allegedly “discredit” that point of view (I assume here it will be the “liberal” point of view).
If you report the post that referenced Raptor and a male organ to Phillip Brownlee, you will get your answer.
J M Walker hides behind a proxy at Bell, which may be AT&T now, I have to do some more “crawling”.

The name-calling from both sides here is ongoing, relentless, and for the most part uncalled for. WS and Capn do it, GSheridan and Fleettwood do it, and you and I can sit here and list names on and on.
The name-calling isn’t the point.
I’ll repeat the point I made earlier: You engaged in the classic bully’s tactic of “blame the victim” when you got caught trolling on other people’s nics. I’ll repeat that I believe (note the word BELIEVE not KNOW FOR A FACT) what kind of person you are in your offline life.
Another point I made earlier, that I’m going to repeat and expand on: You are rude, dismissive, and sometimes cruel to people who try to be civil with you, who try to befriend you, who try to find points of agreement with you. This goes beyond the name-callers in your list, and includes other conservatives on the blog. You’ve attacked people like Littlejohn, GMC, Vaughn and other conservatives who have tried to respectfully disagree with you, and you’ve expressed your disagreements as personal attacks.
These are the parts of your character I used to express my belief of what kind of person you are. You can try to excuse your behavior by screaming about WS and Capn and Farmgrrl’s excesses all you want, but you must own your OWN behavior, and your own character. Your 1:13 post tells me you’re not man enough to do so.

We all have our psychological issues, God knows, blank. However, there’s a deviation about the norm that’s considered acceptable. I guess I’d put the limits of those deviations at the point where a person goes from realizing there’s a problem too denying it or perhaps believing there is no problem, or the problem is with others. Depression is like that…you lose so much hope for the future that you want it all to end. Some depressed people have friends who recognize this and try to help. Some recognize it in themselves. Others, unfortunately, never recognize their warped thinking and commit suicide. As far as the depression is concernend, I’ve been there. I wouldn’t wish it onmy worst enemy. I’m sincerely thankful for friends and family who’ve helped me to get back to near normalcy, though I’ll never be “normal”. Luckily, I was one of those who listened to others because I realized that I was, in a sense, insane at that time. Schizophrenia might be another example.
In any event, I don’t know you, but I would only comment that whoever you are now, the behavior is odd. Seriously, perhaps you should get some help.

Tracing IPs isn’t going to get Mr Blank anywhere. It’ll identify the city a message is sent from, and their internet service provider, but unless Blank has access to ISP network utilization records, there’s not a way for him to individually identify any one person.
The only “tracing” he could possibly do is compare IP addresses in email headers; that _might_ tell him if email from any one email address was sent by the same person as an email sent from another email address.
In 1977, U.S. District Judge Charles Schwartz Jr. issued an injunction against the Army Corps of Engineers’ project to install floodgates on Lake Pontchartrain. He wrote, “plaintiffs herein have demonstrated that they, and in fact all persons in this area, will be irreparably harmed if the barrier project based on the August 1974 FEIS [Federal Environmental Impact Study] is allowed to continue.” Schwartz also ruled that associated flood prevention plans in Chalmette and New Orleans East must be stopped.
In 1986, nine years after they had been blocked in court, the Corps formally dropped the Lake Ponchartrain Hurricane Protection Project as part of a compromise with environmentalists that allowed the Corps to raise the levees around St. Bernard, Orleans, East Jefferson and St. Charles parishes. But the levee-raising program was not designed to protect the area against anything stronger than a Category 3 storm.
A 1996 suit (Mississippi River Basin Alliance, et al. v. H. Martin Lancaster) filed by environmental groups at the U.S. District Court in New Orleans claimed the Corps had not looked at “the impact on bottomland hardwood wetlands.” The lawsuit stated, “Bottomland hardwood forests must be protected and restored if the Louisiana black bear is to survive as a species, and if we are to ensure continued support for source population of all birds breeding in the lower Mississippi River valley.” In addition to the Sierra Club, other parties to the suit were the group American Rivers, the Mississippi River Basin Alliance, and the Louisiana, Arkansas and Mississippi Wildlife Federations.

The Typepad page has nothing listed on it, it’s a Typekey service for logging on to blog.

And it was a civil engineering disaster. The Army Corps construction on Lake Pontchartrain failed at BELOW design specs.
You are correct cosmos. The Corps was warned but chose to ignore the warnings. Lowering the city through enhancing subsidence; stripping the protective marshes by starving them of needed sediment; the list goes on.
We need to move away from outmoded slash and channel engineering and move toward geomorphological engineering for flood control – all the way from the Mississippi to the Cowskin creek and everything in between.

Just got around to reading Weblog so I am very late putting in my 2 cent in. I’m assuming here that you don’t care for our Governor.

Please don’t take offense here…it’s just an observation…something I learned in the school of hard knocks. It applies pretty much everywhere. Here goes….
No matter how “right” you may be, and/or how “wrong” someone else might be; no matter the strength of your evidence, your success is nor grounded here. It helps, but it isn’t grounded here.
Success depends on the alliances you’ve made and on the manner in which you present yourself and your case. What’s the old saying, “it’s not what you know, it’s who you know”? Well, it’s true. If you haven’t gone out of your way to cultivate alliances/friendships..if you’ve treated others disdainfully or with disrespect, then you have lost about 90% of the battle before you’ve even begun !! For all the technology we have, the world still runs on trust. If an angel investor is looking at businesses to fund, s/he is much more likely to fund those where he has a relationship with someone and s/he feels comfortable in that relationship…one example where it’s crucial that you establish a bond. And, frankly, it’s the way things work all the way from global alliances down to squabbles in the sandbox.
Take it for what it’s worth.

But as you say, even when presented with the evidence, they go back two days later to their old lying ways.
I might also note here, that if I don’t like what Republicans do, I point it out and not afraid to state what I think, no matter the party.
Most of the Democrit’s posts are 99 percent ideological garbage and1 percent partial fact or truth. Then it becomes spin time for them which is usually prefaced with an attack on a poster.

Good ! I’m glad you agree with the general principle. I know it’s hard (I still fail ALL the time) but if you try to keep it in mind, try to divorce your emotions from the discussion, realize we’re all human and prone to errors, present information AND listen to information, point out nicely where you see problems, listen when others point out problems they see with your case, etc., I know you know that you’ll be more successful and feel a lot differently about everyone. The only thing we all have that’s really ours is the rest of humanity. They say with a marriage, “never go to bed mad”; again, this applies in almost EVERY sphere of life.
Your a motivated guy. You know how to gather information, you speak well, and you have a caustic wit. Try taking those strengths and adding a little compassion and empathy and you’ll be unstoppable. Consider it, eh??

I think I outlined in my 1:15 post how Mr Blank can hide his tracks, using multiple connections to create multiple IP addresses. Mr Blank has, in the past, claimed to be a computer expert, and has claimed to have several servers of his own.
Of course, any of us who have any sophistication with networks can do this. I could just as easily be the troll as he could. Of course, some of us have track records of one kind, some of us have track records of another. Mr Blanks track, well, we can all judge that one for ourselves.

It is truly gratifying to see so many posters I respect–XXX, WSClark, Pedant, BFAH, JM Walker, and FrmGrrl–nailing his sorry, sorry ass to the wall finally and forever with a sign over it that says, “thus to all trolls.”
Everybody here EXCEPT JM-Eier-REPUBLICAN-Uncle William-Original Steve plays by pretty much the same rules: we post, we get smacked around, we do some smacking around of our own–but we don’t troll-post over other people’s nics, we don’t make up amazing and unbelievable stories that too conveniently tie in with the issue at hand, and we don’t pretend to have experiences and backgrounds that we don’t have.
The post-er by the name of Republican (and his many other nics too numerous to keep track of, or no nic at all as above) uses this Blog as his personal playground to f— with people.
What motivates him to play this puerile game is anybody’s guess. However, every explanation one can imagine leads to a deeply disturbed individual: my best guess, “antisocial personality disorder” characterized by the following (from wikipedia):

I think it’s very telling that in the months if not years that we’ve interacted with this individual he has never PRAISED another post (envy), he has never THANKED another poster (envy again), nor has he ever APOLOGIZED for anything he has written or the trolling he has done (lack of remorse).
That’s one sick puppy.
