Not everyone is happy with legislative session

Many lawmakers are patting themselves on the back for this past legislative session. But one group that isn’t impressed is Americans for Prosperity-Kansas. State director Alan Cobb released a statement lamenting the “second highest spending increase in state history.” His conclusion: “This budget is proof-positive that the Legislature lacks the will for spending restraint.”

Hard to argue with anything above.

A smart man said this long ago, and it applies in Kansas and across our country today:

Your principle has placed these words above the entrance of the legislative chamber: “Whosoever acquires any influence here can obtain his share of legal plunder.”

And what has been the result? All classes have flung themselves upon the doors of the chamber, crying: “A share of the plunder for me, for me!”

So svaty was for the budget before he voted against it? He was fine with pork for his district but the other disticts got too much? So he made sure HIS district got plenty of pork before he voted against the bill for future political posturing?

This guy gives flip flop a whole new meaning.

Funny thing, his water votes have all been exactly the same way. He seems to stick his finger in the wind, check with governor leadership, and then casts his vote for his political future.

Funny how these anti-tax groups are all outraged about TAXES but they are strangely quiet about SPENDING.

When Bush Inc. grew gov’t spending by 9 percent a year and turned our budget into a budget deficit and increased the national debt once again year after year, not a peep from Koch Industries and their hired think tanks . . .

If one were to use the Google and search for “cato bush spending” you’ll find several articles that the Cato Institute (is that who you’re alluding to, CapnAmerica?) published that sharply criticizing the Bush spending record. The war in Iraq, too.

AFP was hardly quiet about spending.

Do you live in a cave?

Did you not hear their radio ads talking about the budget and spending increases?

No, John, I only listen to NPR and CD’s.

    I don’t listen to right-wing hate AM, if that’s what you’re asking.

But if you have a link, I’ll look at it.

But they still basically support Bush and the Republicans, don’t they?

Capn, you’ll have to judge for yourself. But the Cato Institute is against the war in Iraq and has been since before it started, against the war on drugs, and against constitutional amendments that prohibit gays from marrying.

They are for things that many so-called conservatives say they want but don’t really want to happen, such as smaller government, school choice through vouchers, and less reliance on government programs such as welfare and social security.

The price of everything is going up. You can’t NOT spend more…considering how much the state uses in gasoline alone, imagine how much higher the spending would be just for that alone.

Oh and lest we forget how the Federal government is sending less to the states.

Each state is having to support themselves more. I guess that makes sense…you live and die by the policies of your own state.

Poor little capa is upset because he only has one news source. Wah, wah, wah!If you exposed yourself to multiple new sources you would know a lot more. You don’t have to agree with a news source to listen to it or read it. It actually broadens your knowledge.

Americans for Prosperities has been talking about the spending issue for many years. They supported the Taxpayers Bill of Rights (which you have opposed). This would have given the people more opportunity to have input with our elected officials. You are talking out of both sides of your mouth.

I can agree with you on one point and that is congress has been spending way too much. If you look at the voting records the Republicans and the Democrats can share in the blame.

Your hatred for KOCH is so sad. Why are you so upset with them? Have they done something to you personally? They have never asked for special treatment like other companies have. You should be appreciative of that fact. If you want to be upset then look at the companies that ask for special tax breaks or special bonds to be issued for them.

Perhaps the problem is your one news source and cd’s.
