Cindy Sheehan helped and hurt her anti-war cause by both motivating and alienating the public. She has been camping outside President Bush’s Texas ranch of and off since 2005, following the death of her son, Casey, who was killed in Iraq.
She expressed some bitterness and frustration in announcingthis week that she would no longer be a full-time activist: "Casey died for a country which cares more about who will be the next American Idol than how many people will be killed in the next few months while Democrats and Republicans play politics with human lives."
Maybe Peace Mom was a little loony. But maybe she was just ahead of her time.

I’ve never watched American Idol and could care less about the show.
I don’t think she was ahead of her time, it’s been done before by mother’s who lost sons in war.
Nothing else to say – it was her right to protest – she did it – now it is time to go home and reflect.
“Casey died for a country which cares more about who will be the next American Idol than how many people will be killed in the next few months while Democrats and Republicans play politics with human lives.”
Unfortunately a very true statement. Only a few of us have made any sacrifice for the war or for our troops. During WW2 things were different. If you were not actually fighting the war, you were full swing in the effort here at home. We have asked great scarifices of a few families here at home while we worry more about American Idol and Anna Nicole Smith.
The left and Democrats used her like a dish rag and now since she hasn’t been relevant or making the news for quite some time, they throw her away.
Typical.
From the beginning, people have been warning her that she is just being used as a pawn. Now she learned.
I suppose she can still go down south and swap spit with Hugo….
WTF? Uh, Joe! The democrats and “leftists” did NOT throw Cindy away.
She walked away.
???????????????????????????
Seems like republicans who called her “she who rides her son’s coffin”.
Not democrats or “leftists”.
And remember, the bushie loyalists attacked ANYONE who spoke against the war. They would have tarred and feathered ANYONE who stood between them and their neocon wet dreams.
Cindy just didnt take their crap.
Good for her. She did what she could to stop this stupidity.
And you?
I’m for the war.
But I still believe she was used by the left.
The shame is in her parting shot she said what many here have said, I know I have more then once.Things are finally getting better, I have not met anyone recently that had to ask whom I was talking about when I say Bush. I am not kidding it happen far too many times that someone did not even know who the President was!
Iraq is a T.V. war for too many, as Kev said.
“Iraq is a T.V. war for too many, as Kev said.”Posted by: writerdog | May 31, 2007 at 08:09 AM
That’s true. I can see the Liberal Democrats sitting in the audience with their voting pads like they have on game shows and other shows that host polls.
“Please vote for your choice now by selected A, B, C or D”
Sheehan is a kook.
Crazy people suffer too, when loved ones die. I am sorry for her loss, but her son made the decision to wear the uniform.
Sheehan is an anti semite and very unstable.
If anyone out there really cares about this women, she would have had better advice up to this point.
Yup, smart move–draw attention to the spineless National Dems by repudiating them too for not voting against the war.
Quit in protest.
It has the effect of 1. making her non-partisan and 2. drawing huge attention to her cause.
She’ll be back . . . of course.
As for Clum’s comment that she has hurt the anti-war movement, uh, excuse me?
She’s about the only voice we’ve got. She hurt the anti-war movement like King hurt the civil rights movement.
Smear and jeer.
well andy…I guess losing your son in a war that is started for phony reasons would be enough to make any mom a little loony.I think that remark was mean and uncalled for.
And to suggest she was ahead of her time is not right. As the Bush administration prepared for a war that the entire world knew was a lie…literally millions around the world took to the streets demanding “no blood for oil,”. If only the media had paid attention. The major television stations didn’t. These demonstrations were historic in proportion. Were they ahead of their time too? Were they looney too? Or were they people like Cindy Sheehan, demanding that the Bush administration be put on notice for their crimes.
Your remarks about Cindy Sheehan Andie, are almost child like and certainly don’t give this brave mom the respect that she deserves.
Just think if more of us had joined her in Crawford, or if newspaper editorial boards had shown the same courage as people around the world and stood up to our corrupt government, and corrupt corporations, just maybe 4000 american kids and a hundred something thousand people from IRAQ would be alive today.
If you want to show outrage or since of stupid towards some one or some thing, lay off of Cindy Sheehan. There are plenty of things that deserve mention hear.
There are chapters of deceit that could be written and remarked on about the sleeze and lunacy coming from the Bush Administration.
They are the looney ones.Cindy Sheehan is a grieving mom. Show some respect.
cin–
Well said and right on.
Yeah, I noticed Andie made a rookie mistake.
Skewing the facts isnt objectivity. You cant make a piece “fair and balanced” by changing the facts to be more “fair and balanced”.
You dont give “equal time” by creating vague statements that do not reflect the balance of the truth.
Republican apologist? Every scandal must be bipartisan to be fair?
Good grief. When the TRUTH isnt fair, just report it, dont try to trowel it over for smoothness.
It’s ok. You are new and young. And you certainly have lots of examples in the MSM for that skewing of the truth.
I just thought a young journalist would try to be BETTER than the hacks. Not strive to be the same.
Are you taking lessons from values boy?
I vote “luny.”
Good point, FrmGrrl.
You know the Washington Madame’s list that has been studious ignored by the Lame Stream Media?
Some of us are speculating that the reason they’re not all over this like Monica on Billy is because there are no Democrats on the list so they can’t make it a “bi-partisan” scandal.
How else can one explain the defeaning silence of the MSM on their favorite journalistic story–pruient sex with the facade of disapproving puritannicalism.
You get to hear the salacious details and feel morally superior at the same time . . . it’s what they live for.
Yet, so far, almost nothing . . . very strange.
Well I think the real issue here are the editorial boards all around the united states…they set the tone in communitities as to what is patriotic and what isn’t. Who is held accountable and who isn’t.
Editorial boards all around the country. The ones that have turned their back on holding the Bush administration accountable, they all need a summer vacation in a Baghdad Bureau.
You never read clueless heartless remarks from journalists that return from baghdad. Never. Instead you get a sobering look at what devastation our country has caused. And how our poor soldiers are in a unwinnable mess that Bush got them into. Then and only then will blogs like this become focused and serve a purpose, other than taking cheap jabs at a soldiers mom that simple wants to right the wrong of her sons death.
So my challenge to the eagle editorial, would be to each take 3 months and blog from a Baghdad Bureau. No more cheap shots from your air conditioned offices, on grieving moms that aren’t grieving the way you want them to.
Damn, that’s good, cin.
If you have a blog, post your link here so we can all read it . . .
Cin,
The devastation our country has caused?
Perhaps it is you who needs to take some time to figure out what is really happening instead of taking cheap shots at the Bush administration from your air conditioned home.
This war was supported by both the Democrats and Republicans.
Only now do the Democrats choose to go against the war because it is politically expediant for them.
The worlds leading intelligence agencies all agreed on the threat Saddam posed.
This was not some lie told by Bush.
I know that is what you have been sold on by the constant Democrat mantra, but it is far from the truth.
CinI nominate you as the next kook to take Sheehans place.I dont think you have lost a loved one in the war, correct me if i am wrong. However, you are just as nuts as Sheehan! There was no “lie” prior to W. invading Iraq. The “whole world” believed Saddam HAD WWD’s.British intelligence, the UN, almost every Democrat in Congress, Hillary, Bill, Kerry, Gore, ALL said the same things Bush said, prior to the removal of Saddam.Iraq was NOT a “free” or sovereign state, prior to the invasion.Iraq was more like a convict on parole or probation.Iraq was bound by a cease fire agreement, that Iraq violated. That, alone, was legal justification, under the US Constitution and the UN Treaty, for the US to invade.
Again, you are Cindy LIGHT!
Cindy Sheehan is a bit on the luny side.
She supported the 9/11 truth movement.
She said Bush was the biggest terrorist in the world, worse than bin Laden.
The lady was so far out in left field she would do or say anything against the Bush Administration.
If all she did was simply protest the war, I could see her actions as a bit more honorable.
But she went everywhere and did everything and anything as outlandish as she could to get attention.
She used her sons death and claim to fame in the anti-war movement to do far more than simply grieve the loss of her son and protest the war.
Again, Sheehan is a NUT:
http://www.israpundit.com/archives/2005/08/cindy_sheehan_a.php
http://www.slate.com/id/2124500
By the way,
JOE WILSON, another media whore, much like Sheehan, also claimed, in his CIA oral report, that Saddam was trying to buy Uranium in Africa!
Many on the left dont like Sheehan:
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0507/4233.html
And DEMOCRATS were the FIRST to call Sheehan an “attention whore” (A term I apply to the other liar, Joe Wilson)
http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2007/5/28/12530/1525
Thanks CapnAmerica..I don’t have a blog.
But this makes me cranky.Cheap, mean, blog for the moment comments from this and every editorial board member from around the country…It really makes me ill.
Way to few have sacrificed way to much….does that make sense.
Until the editorial board members understand this they will never get Cindy Sheehan.
Until the editorial board members around this country see this war up close, they will continue down their pro corporate pro sleze Bush administration support.
They need to hear the sound of war. They need to see the devastation of war. They need to see the blood, the bodies, the sick, the maimed. They need to see the people of Iraq.. The Children of Iraq…there is an entire generation of kids that only no war. They have never had a normal night of sleep because of violence and loss of family members….They need to see this. They need to see our kids over there in Baghdad…away from their families dying, crying, afraid, in the heat of the dessert without the right equipment, thirsty and lonely…
Mostly they need to feel the fear. That our soldiers feel daily. That the people of Iraq feel daily. They can’t even make a simple trip to the market with out fearing for their lives.
Editorial Boards are way to cozy these days with what is in the best interests of corporations. The only thing that will give them perspective is to see what is going on first hand.
Cindy Sheehan earned her voice. She has sacrificed not only the life of her son in this war, she lost her husband in divorce, her life is a mess. Still she showed spine by standing in the heat in the mud on a filthy country road in Crawford simply wanting her voice to be heard. Just some respect paid to her from the first lady and the President of the United States, who by the way have children that have never set foot in Baghdad.
Cindy Sheehan earned her criticism. So some nerve for anyone from the eagle editorial board to judge her.
So I say let them earn their voice. No more stupid preaching blogs, questioning the sanity of a soldiers mom.
Earn it buy going to Baghdad for 3 months. Let them see it, smell it hear it, and feel it. Then see how they feel when they come home and say this is wrong… and then someong that hasn’t been there should question their sanity….
Now 4000 deaths later and no end in site our editorial board needs to start being more responsible.
Well, I see now it is DOUBLE smear and jeer. If paulie and nathan get that wound up in throwing monkey poop, you know the truth must be mighty threatening. Need evidence of smear and jeer? Just read nathan and paulie.
Except here it sounds more like SNEER and jeer….
Wash. Rinse. Repeat.
“our editorial board needs to start being more responsible”
Cin, are you new around here?
They supported bush and TIAHRT!
’nuff said!
Cin,
You do not have to earn your voice to talk about the war.
However, if that is your standard, what is it that you have done to earn yours?
Have you been to Iraq? Have you witnessed any of the things you describe?
Cindy Sheehan did far more than simply protest the war. All of the things she has done have led to her being called a loony.
Hey Nathan – I thought you were the one that always asks why Democrats have to resort to name calling when blogging.
In your postings about Cindy Sheehan, how many names did you call her?
Sheehan had every right to do what she did if she did it legally. The bigger question should be, why didn’t George W. Bush honor her son enough to talk to his mother? After all, Bush professes to be a Compassionate Christian man.
ksfarmgrrl
I am not new..
I visited some last fall, then few times in the winter.
Then it is so depressing that I vow never to read this blog again.
Then yesterday I had a weak moment:)
Then this morning a ridiculous shot at Cindy Sheehan.
I am ranting here but editorial boards need to feel the heat of baghdad. Both the heat of the violence and the heat of the desert…Then and only then they will decide that a grieving mom protesting the Bush administration has merit. And also that her pain is justified. They should be ashamed in the way they have joined the chorus…turned it into a mocking…make fun of her story.
With a visit to a baghdad bureau…they will understand what is news and what isn’t. They will understand just what devastation our own homegrowns like senator Pat Roberts has caused by caring only of protecting Bush and Cheney. They will understand priorities and all of the errors and blunders that Bush has made. With this and only this do we have a chance for holding people accountable and ending the war.Again, editorial boards need some perspective. They are so far from reality, and there attempts at blog for the moment have not helped.
Reality check is BAGHDAD…
Cin,
Have you been to Baghdad? Iraq?
Have you felt the heat of the desert?
“Again, editorial boards need some perspective”
No shit. They continue to print values boy. And they supported tiahrt AFTER it was generally acknowledged the democrats would take the house in 06.
How’s that working out for wichita?
KFG,
So your stance is that a candidate should only be supported based on how well his party will do?
I take it you have been voting Republican for the past 10 years then?
ks farm girl
the editorial board endorsed bush, tiahrt a zilion times, the pat roberts.
And remember Tiahrt didn’t have the spine to even debate. Bush debated if you could even call it that. He couldn’t even put together a coherent sentence in any of them.
So at some point they need to be held to account. And how dare they make fun of cindy sheehan…calling her looney… when he son died from failed corrupt policies from incompetent conservative politicians that they continue to endorse.
Cin,
Do you believe that the World Trade Centers were destroyed by terrorists who flew planes loaded with fuel into the towers or by a controlled demolition?
Please, I would like to know.
Do you think both are valid explanations or that one is a bit on the conspiracy side?
This is what Cindy Sheehan believed, that the towers were destroyed by a controlled demolition.
If that is not worthy of being called loony, I am not sure what is.
Sheehan is a nut.
The death of a nut’s son does not give the nut wisdom.
From Urban Legends:Army Spc. Casey Sheehan
24, of Vacaville, California.Sheehan died in Baghdad, Iraq, when his unit was attacked with rocket-propelled grenades and small arms fire. He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 82nd Field Artillery Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas. Died on April 4, 2004.
Near the end of his tour of duty, the U.S. invasion of Iraq began. Sheehan re-enlisted, knowing that his unit would be sent to Iraq[4]. Sheehan’s division, the First Cavalry Division, was sent to Iraq. On March 19, 2004, Sheehan’s unit, C Battery, 1st Battalion, 82nd Field Artillery Regiment arrived at FOB War Eagle in Sadr City. Just a few weeks later, on April 4, 2004, Sheehan was killed in action after volunteering as part of a Quick Reaction Force to rescue American troops.
Sheehan had dreams of working as an Army chaplain’s assistant, but wound up working as a mechanic. His division, the First Cavalry Division out of Fort Hood, Tex., was sent to Iraq in March 2004. The last time his parents spoke to him, he was on his way to attend Mass before getting ready to convoy into Baghdad.
“On April 4, Palm Sunday, we got the word that Casey had been killed in an ambush,” Cindy Sheehan wrote in her essay. “The first chance he got, my brave, wonderful, faithful, sweet, gentle and kind boy volunteered for a rescue mission… Casey and 20 of his buddies were sent into a raging insurgent uprising to rescue wounded soldiers. Only 13 of them returned.”
Somebody should let his mother know this, because Cindy Sheehan has decided to use her son’s flag draped coffin as a soap box to shout out her personal leftist beliefs that are completely contrary to those of her son.
After two years and life insurance payment of $250,000.00 to “Peace Mom”, she hasn’t had the time to place a headstone over her son’s grave. Of course, she did buy herself a new car and five acres of real estate in Crawford Texas for Camp Casey. And of course, traveling to protest on three different continents and a vacation to Hawaii.
She probably ran out of the insurance money after frittering it away and is retiring from active protesting.
Casey Sheehan was patriotic and volunteered for duty in Iraq. He also volunteered to go on an extremely dangerous mission. Here is a soldier we can all be proud of.
The good times are over Cindi Sheehan, you have spent your son’s insurance money and had your fling in the political world…now, back to reality.
Damn good job Cindy Sheehan, the movement will miss her. That’s the way to protest. Make “no one”, become newsworthy. What she did was worthwhile.
It’s terrible her personal life suffered while being helped to travel across the nation.
Maybe if she stayed local or just in Crawford Texas protesting all the time, might not have set herself back.
Some do think White House policy is created at the Bush compound kitchen counter, there in Crawford.
Look at the results. Real thoughts go into under staffing the war and the bad nation building process in Iraq?
Believe when McCain said, from all the other nonsense out of his mouth, Rumsfeld will go down as the worst ever Secretary of Defense.
In 1983, shaking Saddam’s hand set his life to what it is today. Bad former manager at the Pentagon. Failed war policies.
Rumsfeld didn’t slap Cheney for uttering “our soldiers will be hailed as hero’s in Iraq”
Rummy probably believed that.
The soldiers deaths and suffering from injuries is tragic. The Iraq war has no purpose, there is not enough troops to stop the violence there or close the borders.
The only purpose left is oil. Holding on to the idea some government in Iraq will make favorable contracts for the oil with America in the future.
The Pentagon has to wage war to defend themselves regardless of the politics, future changeover in the next Presidential election.
The Pentagon can’t continue to extract budgetary funds forever. Say 2010, the Iraq and Afghanistan wars have to be over.
American weapons will cease firing. Soldiers come home.
The flogging why Iraq war happened and lies told “weapons of mass destruction” was real, those politicians should have a reprimand on their record.
That’s what Congress being led by Democrats or Republicans should do after Bush leaves office.
Whenever the wars end. Reprimands. Some big fines too. Most of the politicians are multi- millionaires.
Give what they made in income while making huge political mistakes to charity.
Econ this for you.Nuts use multiple nics.
Sheehan doesn’t fit your description.
Nathan, that’s nuts. Dont twist my words. The Eagle said, in no uncertain terms, that tiahrt’s seniority and his stature in the party were good for kansas. That’s why he should be returned to washington.
All that was well and good until “his” party lost power. In the house. The Eagle endorsement, on those grounds, had no merit. And they stuck with it after it was generally accepted that the democrats would retake the house.
So.. how’s that all working out?
I wonder if Murtha is the only democrat, you know, the ones who control the house, would might like to visit a little payback on the toddly one via “tankerless” contracts?
Karma is such a bitch…
hee hee hee.
Chuckie should be here in 3-2-1…
Nathan:
The list of republicans with loony issues is long…I wouldn’t even know where to begin. Your party is founded on looney and pretty much the reason we are in such a mess..
Like Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson. Do you want to make a list of their looniest moments. Or political loonies like Sam Brownback; remember just last summer his adopt an egg… chart that he presented on the floor of the senate ….OMG….Senator Roberts is just a total goober…
Bush and cheney and everyone in the cabinet…all big time loonies..
So go on with the name calling. We expect it. It is all you have left. Everything your side has touched is a failure. So now you want to hide it from view. If someone loses a loved one in the war in Iraq and they don’t grieve in private you call them looney.
Then after september 11, all the politicians on your side do everything they can to prevent a real investigation of what happened. This includes senator Pat Roberts. There was never a real non partisan investigation done. Not really. And so now some question what really happened on that day and of course you go to all you have left….name calling.
It is more of the same from failed republican leaders with a vision for only the elite in this country and failed policies to the extreme.
Yet after all of the catastrophic failures, your side continues to support failure after failure…
Tell me Nathan. How sane is that.
Cin,
Have you been to Baghdad?
Have you felt the heat of Iraq?
How have you earned your right to speak on this issue?
Do you believe that the World Trade Center was taken down by terrorists or a controlled demolition?
Name calling is not all I have left. I can sit here all day long and make valid points.
I think I made my case for why calling Cindy a looney was not mere name calling but a valid label.
So once again, do you believe that the terrorists took the trade centers down, or was it some conspiracy controlled demolition?
Of course, you still need to tell me how you have earned your right to speak on this subject.
“Of course, you still need to tell me how you have earned your right to speak on this subject.”
Who the Hell are you to question the right of ANY American citizen to speak on this subject, Nathan?
This is still our country, god damn it! We earned the right by BEING Americans!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Christ, you have a Hell of a lot of nerve asking that question.
“This is still our country, god damn it! We earned the right by BEING Americans!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
Look out! ws is going to blow (again).
Shut up Fleetwood, you are as irrelevant as Republank is……
“Shut up Fleetwood,…”
Make me.
WS Clark,
Try reading my comments from earlier.
I don’t really think you have to earn your right, I am just using her standards against her.
Sheesh…
WSGrow up and learn to read!
Sheehan was presented by many in the media as having, somehow, MORE of a right to speak on this issue than the rest of us.
Some have been to Iraq, I have not.
Yes, we ALL have the right to comment on this issue, but what is it, exactly, that made Cindy Sheehan such an expert? Her views were completely contrary to her son’s views.
Sheehan was presented to us as in typical, liberal “victim” status, a spokesperson were were, somehow, not to argue with.
Just type “Sheehan” into your browser and look at all the various news outlets, and how they portrayed her. She was supposed to be the last word on the Iraq war, so sainted that the rest of us had to shut up. Somehow, Sheehan and ONLY Sheehan had the “right” to speak.
Now, you come along and turn the whole thing on its head, since you dont understand this issue at all.
I cannot fathom a mother not being for diplomacy and working for peace. I did not bring my children into the world to be cannon fodder for oil company profits and maintaining the lifestyles of the well-born. Little children in Iraq have just as much right to live as my own children do. I also did not have children so they could grow up and go kill people (many of them children) in Baghdad.
Nathan –
Have you been to Baghdad? Iraq?
Have you felt the heat of the desert?
“Her views were completely contrary to her son’s views.”
Casey Sheehan was anti-war, Paul.
And yes I understand the issue very well. I have been actively against the war from the beginning.
And don’t tell me to grow up, Paul, you are one of the most childish posters on the blog.
Nice try, anyway.
Actually, I can answer that, LPC.
Yes, he has. Fallujah, with the Marine Reserves.
He’s gung-ho, baby, gung-ho.
LOL,
Yeah, thanks CapnAmerica.
LP Cox
If ALL mothers were like you, we would be speaking German or Japanese or Russian right now — and we might not have the “right” to disagree on this Blog.
Raise your children to be cowards if you must, but dont look down on the heroes that others raise!
The truth is, LP, there were many reasons for this war, oil a minor reason. If we really wanted to go to war over oil, I think Hugo Chaves would be in big trouble. Venezuela is closer, in our “sphere of influence” and definately dangerous. — No oil was not the reason for the Iraq war, and you sound like a shrill kook for claiming it was the reason for war.
Having said that, however, what would happen if you did cut off our foreign oil supplies tomorrow? Hunger, death, disease and depression would soon follow.
Money and oil are important because modern life is not possible without them.
Casey Sheehan would not support his mother’s activity.
Nobody that knew Casey thinks Cindy is anywhere near he son’s beliefs.
Also, as noted above, publicity hound Cindy hasn’t even seen fit to buy a memorial for her sons grave, as of the date of that article.
“Nobody that knew Casey thinks Cindy is anywhere near he son’s beliefs.”
And you knew Casey, right Rossell, and you knew what he was thinking, correct?
Because you are a Republican you assume that all soldiers and Marines support the War on Iraq, right?
You know that because you talk to ALL of them, Rossell, right?
Cindy Sheehan has not put a marker on her son’s grave because of her notoriety. She does not want her son’s headstone to be desecrated by right wing idiots.
Jeez, I wonder why she would be concerned about such a thing?
After all, right wingers are all about freedom – freedom of speech for one – why they would never presume to deny anyone freedom of speech.
Right, Rossell?
WSYou are now my nominee as the best KOOK to replace Cindy Sheehan.
Would you like a map to Crawford TX?
It is the anti-war left that defacess graves, cemetaries and mililary memorials.Casey Sheehan died a hero, trying to rescue others, even his mother said so, before mom Sheehan completely lost her marbles!
When did you become the spokesperson for Casey Sheehan, Rossell?
And no, I stay as far away from Texas as possible.
Christ, what a moron you are Paul.
WSI doubt that you have ever had high regard for anyone who has disagreed with you.You simply have not attained that level of maturity.
This is Wikipedia’s take on Casey Sheehan:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casey_Sheehan
And, my apologies on the tombstone issue, but it appears Cindy got that one wrong too. She complained that the government SHOULD have bought the marker, and that is why she waited so long, — but if she had simply signed a form, the Department of Veterans Affairs would have been happy to provide the marker!Any greenhorn life insurance agent knows how to get that accomplished. Casey was a Catholic and a member of the Knights of Columbus. I am sure his Knights of Columbus Insurance Agent or the funeral home would have assisted Cindy with the form.
She didnt do her paperwork, didnt buy a memorial until embarrassed about the unmarked grave, and then bitched that Uncle Sam should have done it, even though she dropped the ball on the paperwork!
WS, you claim Cindy didnt place a marker for fear of vandals. Where do you get that information?
WS, you also claim that Casey was anti-war. Where do you get that information?
You just make stuff up, don’t you?
Carly Sheehan, Casey’s sister, “he said he liked the military because it was just like the boy scouts but they got guns.”
http://www.militarycity.com/valor/257123.html
Where have the rest of the Sheehan family been? Their silence speaks much louder than nut case mom’s rants.
Econ101 – You insult all the WWII vets by comparing this miserable, unnecessary, manufactured war in Iraq to that war. Iraq is not WWII and George Bush is about as far away as one can get from a great leader like FDR.
And if ALL mothers truly felt like me, we would NEVER have any more of these unGodly and unneeded wars! I pray that God and the love of Jesus will someday enter into our thought processes in reality.
LP CoxYou think far too highly of yourself, and you have very weak, invalid thoughts about past wars and past Presidents.
The truth is, FDR probably would have been impeached by contemporary Democrat liberal standards. FDR began fighting Hitler prior to AND Congressional authorization. FDR was definately at war with the German U-boats, FDR definately provided support to Brittain, long before Congressional authorization.
LP, you sound like a modern, wimpy, dangerous Neville Chamberlain, you sound nothing at all like courageous Winston Churchill.
“Peace in our time” you say, as you waive useless paper in our faces, while our enemies plot our destruction.
Radical Islam is even more dangerous than the Axis Powers. Germany and Japan at least had a sense of self-preservation. We are now dealing with suicidal maniacs on a broad scale, who will sacrifice their entire populations for what they view as their Holy War.
“No greater love has any man than he who would lay down his life for his brother.” Jesus Christ. Jesus is not a pacifist!
Casey Sheehan showed more love, more courage, more Christianity, than you or Cindy Sheehan!
I am not falling for your liberal trick. YOU think YOU have the right to tell your opponenets, on this Blog what we can and can not talk about? What do you wish to compare our situation to, today, if not to prior conflicts? You declare past Presidents and past wars off limits because you, in your very un-Christian soul, wish to judge President Bush, and you wish that no defense be made on his behalf!
You are a pompous, arroganant, self-rigtheous scold.
I wouldnt mind so much if you actually knew what you were talking about, every now and then!
prior to ANY, (sorry)
“You just make stuff up, don’t you?”
No Paul, I don’t. If I did, that would make me a Republican.
And, by the way, quote me the Verse where Jesus said this…..
“No greater love has any man than he who would lay down his life for his brother.”
I will help you out, Rossell, you took Jesus’ words completely out of context.
The correct passage is as follows….
John 15
“My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends……. This is my command: Love each other.”
Now what were you saying about Jesus NOT being a pacifist?
She was ahead of her time, because Bush caused her son to die before his time!
“Radical Islam is even more dangerous than the Axis Powers.”
Yes, the HUGE armies that they have, artillery and tanks, and the naval capabilities, destroyers and battle ships, and the air force, bombers and fighter planes, why they could invade China and France any minute now.
Or we could recognize that radical Islam is just a relatively small part of the Muslim faith and deal with it accordingly.
To compare Hitler, Mussolini and Hirohito with bin Laden is ridiculous.
Christ.
Rossell,You are an embarrassment to this county, an embarrassment to your party, and an embarrassment to you hometown. Please quit your ludicris arguments, already. Being stupid and mentally challenged is okay, but please keep it to yourself, alright?
you assholes are an embarrassment to the human race…bunch of clod kicking halfbreds
Sorry Andie,
I have to agree with some of the posts above. The “peace mom” meme was a little cheesy and immature. We hope you will do better.
MDJ,Welcome to the clod kicking half-breeds blog. You sound as though you might fit RIGHT IN!
You know, sometimes I think I should have to pay for the number of belly-laughs I get from this blog … It is just too much.
Yeah, Cindy Sheehan’s a kook, but a kook with the advantage of being right, and long before most of you jumped on her bandwagon!
Paul,”FDR began fighting Hitler prior to AND Congressional authorization.”
You conveniently forget that Germany declared war on the US.
She is a hero. I’ve personally donated to her every chance I get. I don’t know if she is right, or if she is wrong, but her being able to do what she is doing is very important. The more people run her down, the more checks I write.
xxxFDR began fighting Germany before Pearl Harbor and before Germany declared war on the US.
By the way, didnt Iraq declare war on the US?
“By the way, didnt Iraq declare war on the US?”
Post the date where Saddam declared war on the US.
It didn’t happen.
Meme alert! Meme alert!
Surely paulie isnt implying that saddam had anything to do with 9/11?
Even bushco denies that old lie.
farmgirl
Hitler didnt bomb Pearl Harbor either, yet we were fighting Hitler prior to any declaration of war by the US or by Germany.
FDR was fighting the Germans LONG before Japan bombed Pearl Harbor:
http://www.ww2pacific.com/lendlease.html
American ships were used to hunt down German submarines, prior to any declaration of war by the United States!
The Americans were aiding our allies, the English and occupied France, prior to the actual declaration of war in December of 1941.
Hitler, Mussolini and Hirohito were a true menace to the free world. Are you in any way, shape or form trying to say that Saddam Hussein was a threat of anywhere near that magnitude?
Saddam Hussein did not even control all of his own country, yet the Neocons would have us believe that he was a threat to the United States.
Can we get a BULLSHIT chorus?
WS
Kuwait was a member of the United Nations, as was Saudi Arabia, when Saddam invaded.
The United States is also a member state.
An Act of War is more powerful than a Declaration of war.
The United States was AT WAR with Iraq under Bush #1, Bill Clinton, and George W. Bush.
Saddam shot at our airplanes.
Saddam trained and financed terrorists.
Saddam financed suicide bomgings in Israel, against ANOTHER one our US allies.
You are being ridiculous!
WS
You spout selected facts from history, while you LEARN nothing.
Hitler was WEAK in the beginning too.
Cowardly people like YOU, WS, made Hitler strong!
— And WS, you have stated, harshly and falsely, on several threads, that FDR did nothing against Germany until AFTER declaration of war.
You were caught being wrong, again, ever get tired of that?
My Paul, you are really full of shit again today, aren’t you.
Hitler were in 1938? 1939? 1940? 1941?
Nice try – even you can’t believe that Saddam Hussein was in any manner equal to the threat of Adolph Hitler.
As I said, Saddam DIDN’T EVEN CONTROL ALL OF HIS OWN COUNTRY.
Christ.
I said that FDR aided our Allies before a formal declaration of war. The Americans took no active combat role.
Even a GOP revisionist like you should be able to understand that.
By the way, are you suggesting that FDR should NOT have provided aid for Hitler’s enemies?
“Cowardly people like YOU, WS, made Hitler strong!”
Cowardly? Nice try, Paul.
If by that you mean I look at foreign policy with a logical approach, then yes.
If you are challenging my personal courage, I have news for you, Rossell.
“Saddam trained and financed terrorists.”
The Pentagon says that this is not true – are you saying that you know more than the intelligence agencies?
As for the Palestinians – Saddam TRIED to earn his stripes with the Palestinians by paying a bounty to the families of successful suicide bombers.
Unfortunately for Hussein, he was never accepted by the Arabs as a true defender of Palestinian interests.
But, here is a question for you, Mr. Know-It-All….
Who violated more UN resolutions, Saddam Hussein’s Iraq or the US supported State of Israel?
WSYOU LIED once again.
The Pentagon has NEVER stated the Saddam was NOT financing terrorists.
In fact, the US Military, Department of Defense web page, which I posted previously, in opposition to your idiot rants, made clear that shortly after Saddam was captured, Iraq was REMOVED FROM THE LIST OF STATE SPONSORS OF TERRORISM BY THE US DEPARTMENT OF STATE.
President Bill Clinton considered Saddam and Iraq to be State Sponsors of Terrorism.
You are a liar.
And a VERY stupid liar at that!
You have already been called out on this point.
You have already been proven wrong.

Saddam trained terrorists. Many have tried to link Saddam and Osama — there were such connnections — but those connections pale compared to Saddam and other terrorists groups!
I will buy you dinner of your choice at the Scotch if you can prove that Saddam did NOT train and finance terrorists, of any stripe, and that the US Military has said as much!
You will have to get one professor of debate and one professor of political science to agree that you have proven your case.
My address is easy to find. They must send me a written statement that you are 100% correct on this point, and that I am 100% wrong!
When that happens, I will feed your goofy ass and listen to you spout your crap all night, with my mouth shut.
(There is no chance that you will win this one, but try hard, would you?)
Well Paul, anyone that knows anything about debate knows that you cannot prove a negative, so your dinner offer is completely without merit.
But as for this statement….
“The Pentagon has NEVER stated the Saddam was NOT financing terrorists.”
Despite the fact that it is a double negative, therefore not provable, and it is incorrect.
The Pentagon stated without qualification that Hussein had no operational connection with terrorism.
That would mean training or financing.
But nice try anyway.
And links to Free Republic do not count, Paul. They have a miserable track record when it comes to integrity and honesty.
The Free Republic folks still think that Bill Clinton ordered forty murders in Arkansas…..
