Wondering how Sam Brownback has time to run for president and be Kansas’ senior senator? Any day now, Kansans may fairly conclude that he doesn’t. According to a Washington Post database, as of Thursday afternoon Brownback had missed 52 of 172 total votes this year, or 30.2 percent. Brownback’s AWOL record was surpassed only by Arizona’s John McCain, who had missed 85 votes, and South Dakota’s Tim Johnson, still recovering from a December brain hemorrhage.
A presidential campaign takes time, you say? Then explain why Illinois’ Barack Obama had missed only 11 votes this year (two more than Kansas’ Pat Roberts) and New York’s Hillary Clinton only three. And the ‘08 race has just begun.
Brownback owes Kansas more time at work — or he owes taxpayers a refund.

Ok, Sam, that’s enough. Give us the money back or quit this silly president thing. You’ve worked hard; been all over the country..you’ve got 2%, Tommy Thompson has no hair but he has 10% and he has never declared. So, Sam, all you have done is draw a big paycheck for doing nothing. Well, of course, you’ve got Kansas looking like a bunch of bible-banging hicks with your ‘no evolution’ thing. So, enough. You are starting to be an embarrsament. Come home.
NOOOOOOOO, Think!!!
Keep him OUT of washington as much as possible. He does far less damage to the state when he is NOT there!
And as for kansas being filled with bible banging hicks, heck of a job brownieback DOES represent his state accurately if not effectively.
If the shoe fits and all…
Yeah, remember when Dick “Whore monger” Cheney took Edwards to task for this?
“I’ve never seen YOU on the floor of the Senate,” said Dead Eye Dick.
He apparently didn’t remember several photographs taken of him shaking hands and talking with Edwards ON THE FLOOR OF THE SENATE.
Remember IOKIYAR, kids, “it’s okay, if you’re a Republican.”
Sam-
Forget the Presidency, ain’t gonna happen. Get back to work. Slacker
Senator Sam will lose the nomination. Senator Sam won’t be picked by the winner to be the VP candidate. Senator Sam says he’s not running for re-election to the Senate in 2010. It’s almost time to say byebye to Senator Sam.
2010 can’t get here fast enough.
Well he still has lots of time before 2010 to do a farewell tour of wingnuttia.
You know, so his fans can adore him.
And he can be SURE to stamp the brand of “kansas is filled with bible thumping his” forever in the minds of thinking Americans.
I’ve changed my opinion and I think KFG has it right. Stay, Sam…stay in the race.
It only takes away money from the repubs who might have a chance at winning lol.
Considering how Brokeback votes it’s a good thing he’s not representing us. Kansas doesn’t need any more reich-wing religious knuckledraggers who can’t accept science and think everything on television (outside of Fox News) is porn. Keep him out of D.C. and let him make more sports analogies.
…AND where is god’s senator on this measure?
It took two URBAN democrats to do what farm state sam wouldnt? Let’s see how he supports this. Or not.
“Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton says a major new 5-year farm bill should make Americans healthier by piling more vegetables onto their dinner plates.
Clinton and Senator Sherrod Brown of Ohio say they’ll push legislation to encourage small fruit and vegetable growers to get more customers in nearby cities which often don’t have affordable, easy-to-find produce.
Congress is expected to pass a new farm bill this summer. The two senators want the legislation to include measures offering loans for the creation of more farmer’s markets, and more fresh food to schools, seniors, and poor families.

Of course, I’ll believe it when I see it pass. And if it applies to me. Funny how the definition of “small” works in government.
The farms that get millions in subsidies are anything but “small family farms”. And the SBA’s definition of “small” business?
Five hundred employees or less.
I wish the Senators luck. They’ve got the right idea.
And where is sam on this again?
This has to be a MSM hit piece! I for one know ‘God’s Senator’ wouldn’t be accepting a salary for work he didn’t perform! Say it ain’t so.Where’s are the Reich Wingers on this, are they staying away too ashamed for bad mouthing Kerry when he was the front runner, for missing some votes and demanding he give back his pay?
So the Dem front runners combined have missed 5 more votes than our Senator Roberts, who isn’t campaigning? What gives? Are Dem’s that much more concientious about their jobs? And McCain, he should be ashamed.
The same and more could be said for all the candidates who still hold office on both sides of the isle. I know lets make it a rule that only unemployed people can run for office.
I’m sure we’ll get a much better class of people that way.
Seanmahair: Are you saying that if it wasn’t for the unemployed and homeless … the capital square area of Washington D.C. wouldn’t have any class? Are you forgetting our Senators and Congressmen and bureaucrats?
Better idea, lets just put them on unpaid leave if they can’t fulfill their obligation to their constituents.
