Welcome to Wichita, Coach

Congratulations to Gregg Marshall, the new coach of the Wichita State University men’s basketball team. It sounds like a mutually beneficial match — a regular at the Big Dance with the small but mighty Winthrop, and a stronger conference team eager to build on its recent Sweet 16 success. Just a week after Mark Turgeon’s jump to Texas A&M, it’s hard not to share WSU athletic director Jim Schaus’ enthusiasm about the future of the Shocker brand. Maybe together, Marshall and WSU can get the glory and respect they deserve.

This joyous proclamation was posted without the death a WSU recruit mentioned?

    Paul Suellentrop reports…

Wichita State men’s basketball recruit Guy Ntang died Monday night during a pickup game, hours after affirming his desire to play for new coach Gregg Marshall.

Ntang, 19 and a native of Cameroon, “was on the court, away from the action, when he apparently lost consciousness and fell backward,” according to a news release from the New Hampton School in New Hampton, N.H. Ntang was taken by ambulance to a hospital in Plymouth, N.H., where he was pronounced dead.

Marshall, reportedly visited with Ntang in the afternoon and was watching from the stands in the Smith Gymnasium on the campus of the New Hampton School.

Ntang, a 6-foot-7 forward, signed with Wichita State last fall to play for coach Mark Turgeon. Marshall, who replaced Turgeon on Saturday, was on a tour of the East Coast, talking to recruits.

What a lovely post Mrage. Too bad it’s totally irrelevant to the thread and it was already posted by the Eagle on their own pages.

Why don’t you say “Hi and Welcome to Wichita” instead of being a jerk.

Republican, I am now simply at a loss for words with you.

My sympathies to the family of Mr. Ntang, and indeed to Coach Marshall.

    Repub,

    Shove it!

It was updated news and easily a link to story could have been added.

Not everyone reads all parts of this website.

I welcome Marshall and its tragic an 18 year old dies without trauma. Weird start for a new coach, just meeting the player.

It is a sad story about Ntang but completely irrelevant to the original post. Lets talk about the coach for a minute. How awesome is this! I love Coach Marshall. He is a great guy whose record is more than stellar. I just hope Turgeon falls flat on his face.

And by the way, the tragic story about Mr. Ntang is not irrelevant to the OP.
