Well, sitting here staring at a computer screen because I Can’t seem to get back to sleep, I decided to pursue an avenue I tried to get the editors to take:

American Idol’s recent two night show was entitled Idol gives back. I hope many watched and called in to donate to this worthy cause. They raised over 30 million in the first hour on Wednesday night. The cause?

Hunger in this country (Imagine over 9 million children starving in this country alone daily), as well as Africa where a child dies every three seconds from hunger or disease.

Education. They showed class rooms in this country in districts that can’t afford the basic books to teach the children the basics.

Africa, where fighting for your life takes precedence over learning to read; where too many children are raising their brothers and sisters because their parents are dead from disease or war.

It strikes me that we should not have to put up with what’s going on in this country concerning hungry, poorly educated children when fatcat ceo’s are raping the average person at the gas pump. Why are these morons NOT giving back to the people who really need basics to just survive? Do they really need a mega-million paycheck to get them through the year?

I propose a 50% tax on all salaries over one million a year, with ALL that tax earmarked for the needy children in this country.

    Anybody got a better idea?

    Well! Nobody starves in America.

The marketplace determines the amount for a barrel of oil. Not rich fat CEOs.

Rich fat CEO of Exxon Mobile employees directly over 83,700 people with other spin offs of that reaching near a million. Making the company produce a whopping 377 billion dollars into our economy alone, many of that into charitable contributions. The company as a whole makes less than 10% profit margin, and only about 5 cents per gallon of gasoline.

Yet! Exxon Mobile is small potatoes compared to government owned oil companies who do nothing to help the poor.

Bill Gates and Warren Buffet, the two richest men in the world have done more with their money (volunteering) than what any government, including the USA has done or could have done by taking their money with a force of a gun.

You have no idea how much rich fat CEO’s donate to charities. Yet with your wealth and success envy, you continue to advocate that rich CEO’s be subjected to pay for what YOU want them to pay into. That is tyranny and your no different than a dictator.

There are other ways of solving our problems. Leftism and more taxes isn’t the answer to those problems. They actually perpetuate and make them worse.

    Live, Read, Learn!

Everything I need to know about life, I learned from Noah’s Ark

One : Don’t miss the boat.

Two : Remember that we are all in the same boat.

Three : Plan ahead. It wasn’t raining when Noah built the Ark.

Four : Stay fit When you’re 600 years old, someone may ask you to do something really big.

Five : Don’t listen to critics; just get on with the job that needs to be done

Six : Build your future on high ground.

Seven : For safety’s sake, travel in pairs.

Eight : Speed isn’t always an advantage. The snails were on board with the cheetahs.

Nine : When you’re stressed, float a while.

Ten : Remember, the Ark was built by amateurs; the Titanic by professionals.

Eleven : No matter the storm, when you are with God, there’s always a rainbow waiting…Pass this along and make someone else smile, too.

im1096! Using rap street poetry (YAWN) over video images of Bush isn’t appealing. They need to do better than that.

By the way! “Mission Accomplish” was meant for that Aircraft Carrier’s mission.

WOW. Things are gettin’ good in Trego County! The front page, above the fold, lead story in the Hays Daily last night?

AG issues SIXTEEN new supeonas in the on going investigation of corruption of WaKeeney City Council members, the former mayor, the city/county attorney, and several prominent businesses.

This would be on top of the TEN supeonas issued before. Seems some new information has come to light that has caused the investigation to expand.

Thank GOODNESS we have a new AG willing to pursue local corruption investigations. Go Paul, GO!

Heheheheheheeh. Whoever said “what goes around comes around” sure knew what they were talking about.

    Stay tuned….

Sorry, I forgot the link to the Trego/WaKeeney corruption.

And in case you are wondering why I post this stuff when no one probably cares about corruption in one little town…

I hope it shows that voters can take hope that SOMEONE in Kansas is willing to “fight city hall”. And that they can win. I think if you have corruption in YOUR little or big town, you can take heart.

Sometimes the good folks DONT finish last. hehehehehehe!

What does it take to get the AG interested in looking into possible corruption — How much / what type of info would they need? Will check the AG web page

Interesting that the paper initially calls it an investigation — then repeatedly calls it an inquisition — sounds like some one is squirming ???

ken, an inquisition is, under Kansas law, a kind of investigation; GMC can probably be more precise, but an inquisition is akin to a grand jury investigation, but run by the prosecutor (District Attorney, County Attorney, Attorney General) without the contributions of citizens impaneled as a Grand Jury.

A recent example of an inquisition carried on by the office of the Attorney General is the investigation into Dr. Tiller, which has been the subject of much conversation here and elsewhere.

I guess I failed to mention that the Hays Daily reporter, Mike Corn, is TOTALLY biased in favor of the city/county attorney who is opposing these city council members. He’s totally in Dave Harding’s pocket, so you have to know it is bad if the Hays Daily FINALLY has to print something about it.

Word is this was started when the City of WaKeeney determined Harding was not eligible for KPERS, even though he had been drawing it for years. And so had the mayor.

This is the city/county attorney’s vendetta for the WaKeeney City Council DARING to cross him.

So… count on the Hays Daily NOT telling both sides of the story. Remember, this same city/county attorney is the one who LOST (threw?) the lawsuit that would have saved the water in Cedar Bluff. He’s totally owned by Hays.

And maybe that is why the Ellis County Attorney, Tom Drees, is no longer the lead prosecutor? He and the city/county attorney are buddies, and in fact, Drees has bailed Harding out before.

Rumor is that many shady dealings, all instigated by the “old” city council members, city clerk Hardy Howard, and at least tacitly approved by the city/county attorney, are coming to light as people who have been SLIMED for years by all these folks are starting to talk.

Or perhaps sing would be a better word. heheheheheheeh. Seems like the thread has been pulled that will bring down the cabal. I say throw ALL the bums out.

That is the only way to restore integrity to the city and county government. And I understand the investigation is being expanded to include some dirty county dealings as well.

Stay tuned. Popping the popcorn right now…

Soldier is 95th from Ft. Riley to die in Iraq

    Associated Press

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A soldier assigned to an Army unit based at Fort Riley was killed when his patrol came under enemy attack in Baghdad last week.

Pfc. Christopher M. North, 21, of Sarasota, Fla., was killed Saturday by improvised explosive devices and small-arms fire, the Department of Defense said Thursday.

North was a cavalry scout for the 1st Squadron, 4th Cavalry Regiment, 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division.

North joined the Army in July 2005 and was stationed at Fort Riley in December 2005, before being deployed for the first time.

He is the 95th Fort Riley soldier killed in the war, and the second from his squadron to be killed in the past two weeks.

Pfc. Aaron M. Genevie, 22, of Chambersburg, Pa., was killed on April 16 when his vehicle struck a roadside bomb.

“O God, our Heavenly Father, we remember before Thee this day, those who laid down their lives in the service of their country.

We remember their courage and devotion to the Sovereign and the country they served.

We pray that their labours be not in vain but that their spirit may live on in us and the generations to come.

We pray that liberty, truth and love may spread over all the world ’til war shall cease to be.

We remember our brethren who are in sickness or distress.

We remember the widows and other dependants.

We dedicate ourselves to Thy service in the name of those whose memory we revere.

We ask this in the name of our Lord.” “Amen”

As usual, you’ve hit the nail just right. A prosecutor running an inquisition can subpoena witnesses, compel answers, etc., much like a grand jury. They’re relatively rare, but do give the investigating prosecutor some real power to seek out the facts.

    Make Americans SACRIFICE.

If we aren’t willing to do this, then change direction Work on alternatives to a hostile-foreign-source-oil-dependent economy. A half trillion spent in Iraq so far. Where could solar, wind, fusion, and hydrogen-fueled vehicles be today with

I agree with Make Americans Sacrifice (I’ve said as much before)

not sure I or many soldiers would want his daughters or Cheney and his in a fox hole (ok I was in the Air Force never saw the inside of a fox hole, but I’ve seen pics) — they would not be an asset — more a liability — but I’m sure appropriate work could be found for them — bartenders / waitresses at the enlisted clubs?

I was reading J M Walker’s hunger links, and checked the ‘environment’ section at youthnoise.

Lindzen’s deceptive and inaccurate op-ed was at the top of the debate section.http://www.youthnoise.com/page.php?page_id=2233

It’s very sad how much confusion, and delay Lindzen, and a few other deceptive skeptics have caused.

A I know. It’s straight out of Hitlerjugend.”
