In the end, the Legislature figured out Thursday how to both give businesses a deserved break in what they pay into the state’s unemployment insurance trust fund and also how to help unemployed workers awaiting benefits. The earlier GOP resistance to eliminating the workers’ one-week wait for benefits had signaled that businesses that lay off matter more than the laid off. Fortunately, the final bill was a win-win.

Well okay…
I suppose the bill will have to be paid by someone if not paid by business.
(looks in dwindling taxpayer wallet)and ponders how the term “win” applies.
It’s “paid” by you and me, look at your paycheck!!!
Unemployment is OUR money! Not the governments! It is I N S U R A N C E !!
Imagine State farm f-ing with people over paying a claims! Their would be public outcry!
Uh, freedom freak, if you are saying the UE is paid for out of employee wages, you are incorrect; under both Federal and Kansas law, the contributions to the UE funds are made by the employer, and not to be withheld from employee wages. Point of knowledge: FUTA tax is paid by the employer on the first $7000 of each employee’s wages; in Kansas, it is paid on the first $8000 of each employee’s wages. The rate, at the federal level for Kansas employers, is 0.8%; in Kansas, it depends upon the experience rating assigned to the employer. The lowest is .06%.
If you were saying something else, I apologize for misunderstanding.
I love the way money is circulated around.A tax that pays for a benefit but if you use that benefit, you will end up paying a tax.I wonder how many times that money it taxed? …:]
