Here are the top 10 winners in Iraq, according to the current issue of Foreign Policy magazine:
No. 10. Israel. The war in Iraq has eliminated some of Israel’s enemies, although it has created new ones.
No. 9. Old Europe. It told us “don’t do it,” but we wouldn’t listen. Now Europe is sitting back and saying “told you so.”
No. 8. United Nations. Now we’re asking, “How does that diplomacy thing work?”
No. 7. The price of oil. Middle East oil barons are enjoying record-setting oil proceeds.
No. 6. Arab dictators. All of a sudden, those guys don’t look so bad.
No. 5. China. While the United States’ attention is focused elsewhere, China’s power keeps growing and growing.
No. 4. Samuel Huntington, conservative political scientist, Harvard University professor and author of “The Clash of Civilizations and the Remaking of World Order.”
No. 3. Al-Qaida. The war in Iraq has been a boon to its publicity and recruitment efforts.
No. 2. Muqtada al-Sadr, radical Shiite cleric who has gained power since the fall of Saddam Hussein.
And the No. 1 winner of the war in Iraq: Iran.

All right…
Who let the intern on the blog?
Is she going to actually engage us in disucssion after posting some left wing crap like this?
Ok, do tell us how the US (the avg citizens, not the elite Cons) will benefit from this ill planned adventure?
To Ms. Hein:Hang in there! Don’t let big ol’ Nathan’s mean words scare you from joining the discussion… :)
Besides, I hardly think an essay by David Frum can be considered as left wing propaganda…
Ms Hein: Welcome to WE Blog. Hope you will actually enter into the discussion although this hasn’t been the norm by WE editors.
Regarding your blog editorial above, the comments are actually from ten essays by ten different political writers. According to FP editors, their magazine “is non-partisan,” and their writers “slice across the left-right spectrum.”
I LIKE HER!
Nathan, you want to try to show where she’s wrong?
I didn’t think so.
Great post Patrice. I know it upsets nathan to think his service actually BENEFITS the folks listed above. It’s hard on the “bush uber alles” crowd when they have to face the truth about little boots.
For those of us who already KNOW the truth about bushco? Keep posting patrice, keep posting.
Although I am sure her next post will be designed to calm the right side of the blog.
Whiners and bedwetters
Nathan: Patrice simply further condensed the Foreign Policy article, which was already condensed on the Web, except to subscribers. Frankly, I don’t particularly agree with all of their “Top 10″, but “Don’t kill the messenger”, for Christ’s sake. For starters, I can’t imagine how Halliburton and the other major in-country defense contractors didn’t garner at least one spot on the list, and the domestic contractors at least one more. And how in hell the United Nations is a winner here escapes me. Desert Storm was in response to a UN mandate, caused us not to see it through when it was a cake walk right then. If it hadn’t been for the f**king UN, we wouldn’t even be in Iraq today. The UN should be thrown out of the US and we should quit enforcing their corruption and incompetence at the cost of American lives. (But, I’m getting off the subject.)
Nevertheless, Patrice, nice restatement of an article … not quite editorial quality yet, but a good start.
Nathan: Stay safe, young man.
Oh I think the US should withdraw from every war action. Then when something happens in Europe they can squeal all they want and we will not listen. They can be oppressed by the Chinas, the Irans of the World and we will be silent. Reminding them they did not like us to interfere so we will watch from afar as they gnash their teeth and wail their woes! Perhaps we should have let the Soviet Union take over their countries so they would not have a voice in anything but to serve their masters!
Great post Patrice, just like all of the others. I see a lot of finger pointing and bush bashing but nothing else, just like the majority of these folks. The way you operate you could be the next Bill Clinton.
So by reading your post I am left with the impression that you support bringing ALL U.S. troops back from abroad. Middle east, Europe, Asia?
I mean the torture and rape rooms and terrorist support in Iraq were good for the Iragi’s.I mean really isn’t it better to just walk into the slaughter room than to fight for something called freedom. Of course it is.That the Iraqi people are now able to dictate their own future, thats not a good idea. How dare we get involved.
I mean hey, Hitler had the trains running on time and the people fed and electricity at all hours.
Iran wants to committ genocide against the people of Israel, why do we care.
Oh I see, it was Saddam that kept Iran in check. So you are saying that Saddam would have prevented Iran from getting nukes. Gotcha.
Oh and I suppose the U.S. just wasn’t paying enough blackmail money to North Korea either. We should have tripled it, THAT might have kept Kim happy.
You support removing ALL support from Israel.
You support the U.S. NOT supporting any countries.
You support not getting involved in any countries internal problems.
Thats cool. Then NO more taxpayer money to the Aids in Africa.
No more trying to stop the genocide in Ruwanda. You see it’s a civil war.
No more trying to stop the problems in Darfur. It’s a civil war.
No involvement in Bosnia. It’s a civil war.
No more involvement in Korea. It’s a civil war.
No supporting the Berlin Airlift, it was Germany’s problem.
No involvement in the cold war, PERIOD. I’m sure ALL those people wanted to live under communist rule.
No involvement in Afghanistan. It’s a civil war.
Well Patrice I’m so glad you cleared that up for the rest of us.
I’m sure your next post will point out the law according to Patrice of things we SHOULD get involved in.
And here I thought Bill Clinton had 8 years to accomplish all of this and we could now be living in Nirvana.
Oh thats right, for 8 years Bill was to busy having to defend himself about Monica because of the Repubs.
Bitter, party of one? Your table is ready….
rm – the righties have to ‘kill the messenger’ – they cannot refute the message. How can they tell us how we have won in Iraq; how we found the WMDs; how we have established a Jeffersonian democracy there; how the ARI has taken over and we are down to 5000 troops?
These were their projections 4 years ago. These are the things they said they would accomplish. THEY HAVE FAILED.
MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!
Oh sorry, farmgirl. Didn’t mean to upset you with no bush bashing.
Good grief, Gene @ 10:45AM surely wins some kind of WE blog for confirming outright Godwin’s Law or a corollary in every sentence. Record time, too.
I thought it was the Left who usually posts record times in this area?
It’s not really all that easy for a Bushie to do, you know. Unless you somehow can write like a fragile, pensive, bitter charter member of the John Birch Society who’s somehow displaced his commies with his terrorists.
Oh wait.
I’m not killing the messenger, I’m looking for an original idea. This is supposedly an intern who will be the next line of reporters. Is she just going to continue the rantings of what her liberal professors are telling her or is there some original thinking going to happen?
I am simply addressing my thoughts from her post. I would like to know if she has some original ideas to go along with her “stale” opinion. If her thoughts are that everything in my post is the way things should be, then so be it. What are her original ideas?
All hail the Democrits who pleasure themselves on the vaults of failure! ben hui offers no solution only criticism! He wrecklessly assails the vanguards of our freedom under the very premise that allows him to do so! Nothing but verbal flatulence and sidewalk supervision with arms crossed and eyes closed!
Gene, suppose you go first and grace us with a bit of your own original thinking here. Patrice has graciously put the ball in play, and now it’s in your court pard.
“All hail the Democrits who pleasure themselves on the vaults of failure! ben hui offers no solution only criticism! LOL. I wish another original Rome episode were airing tonight as well!
The mission in Iraq is accomplished. We removed Saddam and there are no nukes or chemical weapons. Iraq as a country will never be united because it is a country created by lines being drawn on the map by the British many years ago. They do not want freedom like we in the USA know it. The Shites want to kill Sunnis, the Sunnis want to kill Shites and they both want to kill Kurds. Because we are there they are killing us. Cut and run, pull out, leave or what ever the hell you want to call it and let them go at it. Maybe after they’ve spilled enough of they’re own blood they may realize that we are not the bad guys. If that doesn’t work let Israel nuke em because everyone hates Israel in the middle east anyhow.
Replace the word Iraq with the word Vietnam and this could have been written back in the 60’s. Yawn.
Jimma had 4 years to get the U.S. out of all the problems in the world. Clinton had 8 years.
What do you people want. At least Bush took a stand.
Do I agree with how he prosecuted this war, absolutely not.
Jimma took a stand against the Shah. How’d that work out. I could sit here all day and go over and over all the horrible things he did.
Clinton took a stand in Bosnia, of course not the U.S.’s stand but NATO’s (gee, I wonder if Bosnia happening on European soil had anything to do with that) when we could have just left it up to the Europeans.
Clinton didn’t take a stand in Ruwanda or Somalia. I wonder what the uproar would have been had there been 4000 americans killed getting in the middle of Ruwanda’s civil war.
We lost what about 50 in Somalia and took off. I wonder if Iran or Iraq or Syria took notice of that? They called him teflon Bill for a reason. As long as you don’t take a stand, then you won’t get dirty.
Roscoe asks: “Perhaps we should have let the Soviet Union take over their countries so they would not have a voice in anything but to serve their masters.”
Actually, part of the problem there was that while the USSR was pursuing its empire and hegemony, so was the West.
Consider for example that the West was hamstrung in aiding the Hungarian uprising in 1956 because Britain had just invaded Egypt to take control of the Suez Canal.
Thinking Americans don’t object to fighting for freedom–we object to fighting to make Bush’s filthy stinking rich friends filthier and stinkier rich.
Since Iraq’s oil has been taken off the market, Exxon made more profits than any American company in history last year.
Commander Cod-Piece in Chief: Mission Accomplished.
Gene Ralston asks: “What do you people want? At least Bush took a stand.”
So you’re saying that when you’re lost, you should drive as fast as you can, even if that means driving off a cliff.
Bush “didn’t take a stand.” He got us mired down in a horrible quagmire that we can’t get out of just like what Dick Cheney said would happen in 1991.
If that’s “taking a stand,” puleeze . . . then suicide is taking a stand.
Captain Vomitus has managed to once again failed to connect issues that have no connection to each other! He tries to tie in a concluding statement with an expectorate of his introductory phlegm! He is truly a child of chaos and an enemy to the state!
BTW, to the new intern Ms. Hein:
when the facist reich-wing howls with outrage, you know you’ve posted something true and fine.
How do you know the facist reich-wing?
They’re the ones that whine and moan about Clinton’s “nation-building” and “no exit strategy” in BOSNIA and how it hurt military morale and left our military in tatters, but support the daily death rate in Iraq which has killed over three thousand and left tens of thousands with permanent disabilities.
When these cretins critize you, you have done your job.
Thank you,
Thinking Patriots
Roscoe–
I take objection to your calling me an “enemy of the state.” I would never call you that even in the heat of an argument.
Let me go on record by saying that I love my country. I work toward the common good–that means I work for what’s good for even you, Roscoe.
Whether you want our help or not, I and millions of patriots like me creating a better country for you.
You on the other hand just keep supporting the failed policies of Worst. President. Ever.
How’s that working out for you?
One who loves, supports, and defends one’s country is the definition of a Patriot! You have shown contempt of your country and would encourage such conduct! You have left out the support and defend portion what it means to be a patriot! The term -common good- is directly out of the Manifesto by Marx! Your ideologies are akin to a Marxist not an American!
If Patrice’s policy is that we should never get involved in international matters than have her say that.
That is the ONLY way you are going to keep from spilling American blood.
Either we believe that people all over the world have the right to live in peace and freedom OR we don’t.
I’m seem to remember JFK saying something about we will bear any burden, pay any cost…Oh well.
Turn out the lights was correct. We have given these people freedom from a dictator it is up to them to decide how they want to live.
That there are millions of Muslims throughout the world who can live together. Sunnis, Shiites are living together in peace in Kuwait, the far east and other places. We assumed that this could happen in Iraq.
Even after the genocide in Ruwanda the Hutus and Tutsis are living in relative peace, we assumed this could happen in Iraq with one group having control over another group for so many years.
As for the Iraqi’s it is only they themselves that can stop the flow of arms from Iran. It is only they themselves that can stop the violence.
Do you people not understand why we occupied Germany for so many years? It wasn’t because we wanted to dominate them. It wasn’t to take their resources. It was because we knew they were to weak to protect themselves from Russia.
This is what is now being accomplished in Iraq. They cannot protect themselves against Iran, that is why we are there now and yes it will take YEARS.
If we step back from Iraq and let the Iranian’s take control, what next.
What will we do when Kuwait is invaded?
What will we do when Israel is destroyed?
What will we do when Saudi Arabia is taken over?
Ask the UN for a resolution? Ask the UN for another resolution?
Ask China and Russia who are making billions off of sales of arms to these nations to please stop?
Hate to break it to you kids, but our economy runs on oil. Unless you’ve got a quick way out of it, (and believe me I’d like to hear it) we NEED OIL. So you can babble on about it all you want, but the problem is STILL there and has been through Dem control and Repub control.
So what do we do. If we are going to close our borders pull back from ANY international problems and ONLY make use of diplomatic manuevers, ie. “Halt or I’ll yell halt again!” than fine lets do it.
If not, than we are going to get dirty sometimes.
Let’s see, Iraq invades Kuwait. They call for our help. Saudi Arabia, one of our allies asks for our help. The UN tells Saddam to stop it. The UN tells Saddam to stop it again. The UN says, we really mean it. The UN says oh well, we tried.
We wanted to stop their agression. We didn’t want Saddam to set up torture and rape rooms in Kuwait.(anyone want to take a guess at the number of still missing Kuwaiti’s)
But wait, a REPUBLICAN is in the White House AND he happens to be an oil man and we happen to need oil for our economy. That means Desert Storm is all about… (GASP) OIL! How dare he.
The dead and missing Kuwaitis, who cares.
That the Kuwaitis do not want to live under a dictatorship, who cares.
That the Kuwaitis have to remove all of their house numbers and street signs to prevent Iraqi death squads from finding specific persons (yes, I was there and saw this) who cares.
That the Kuwaitis only source of water was what was in their toilets because the Iraqis had destroyed all of the de-salinization plants, who cares.
This war is about oil and we should not be there.
“This is what is now being accomplished in Iraq. They cannot protect themselves against Iran, that is why we are there now and yes it will take YEARS.”Posted by: Gene Raston | February 25, 2007 at 11:51 AM
But we don’t have YEARS to give them.
The thing about Germany is that there was no significant anti-American insurgency during all that time. Do you think Americans would have supported an American reconstruction if such an insurgency had been (1) present, and (2) allowed to grow?
You can’t compare Germany or Japan to Iraq, and I think it’s largely because the Iraqi population is far more heterogeneous than was Germany or Japan.
This is one of the glaring screw-ups of GW Bush, and it’s why people like me were screaming at the tops of our lungs in 2002 that invasion was not only unnecessary, but a HUGE mistake. Well, W decided to screw that pooch anyway.
You can’t expect Americans to get religion on spreading democracy when the target population is so divergent from from ours. My understanding is that Arab culture diverged from Western culture along about the time the US and England came to believe so strongly in reason as the primary basis in governmental authority that they actually fought a war over differing opinions of it. I”m talking about our own war for indepencdece from England, which was fought in the context of the flowering of the Age of Reason.
The Arabs didn’t go there. The Age of Reason is something they reject, although our entire government is an artifact of the philosophy. Because of this, your “Either we believe that people all over the world have the right to live in peace and freedom OR we don’t” is a false dichotomy. It’s false because it fails to account for the fact that we can believe Arabs have the right to live in peace and freedom but we lack any means of supplying them because the Arabs lack any means of receiving them.
Of course W doesn’t see this, the idiot.
“that is why we are there now and yes it will take YEARS”
Then why did our ‘leaders’ tell us “months not years”?
You complain about lack of originality – where is yours?
Gene–
Why did we arm and support Saddam for 8 years before his invasion of Kuwait?
Why did our ambassador April Glasspie tell Saddam that the United States “had no opinion” on Arab conflicts, which was precisely the State Dept. policy laid out by James Baker?
If we didn’t like Saddam’s dictatorship, why did Reagan STOP punishment for his gassing of the Kurds in Halabja?
You can support dictators or oppose them. You want to support them when they seem to be acting “in our interests” (meaning the interests of powerful rich corporations) and invading and overthrowing them when they don’t.
I say, as a patriot, stand for what we believe in: freedom and democracy.
A country to receive help and aid directly to how closely it allows freedom and democracy for its citizens.
Of course a good place to start improving democracy is right here in America. Al Gore won the presidency with 500,000 more votes than Worst. President. Ever.
Try explaining THAT to the person sitting in darkness . . .
Gene: Take a few deep breaths, Christ! Patrice REPORTED an article from Foreign Policy. The Web Page she REPORTED to was a condensation of a CNN show to air this week.
This was my earlier point to Patrice. Nice job. Not exactly an EDITORIAL yet, but a nice concise job of reporting, and a good start. So whether you agree or don’t agree with the content, it’s not Patrice’s. Go tell CNN to f**k off, but don’t blame her effort for bringing it to your and my attention. I’ve already said I think some of the content is wrong!
State of the Union 2005 – “We will not set an artificial timetable for leaving Iraq, because that would embolden the terrorists and make them believe they can wait us out.” Where will I find the – months not years – statement?
And Bush took a stand…..
He marched forth in army boots where angels fear to tred, mounted his platform amidst the quicksand of the Euphrates river and declared, “Mission Accomplished”!
And, after the great proclamation, “When the Iraqi’s stand up we will stand down!” the Commander in Chief was airlifted to the safety of his Big White House and the troops slogged on to Waterloo. (That is French for Baghdad).
And while Bush sat in his White House reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar, the Iraqi’s stood up, after planting many IED’s. And they had guns in their hands. And they shot buildings, and cars, and foreigners, and other Iraqi’s, and women, and children, and small animals scurrying in the streets!
And the Iranian’s said, “This is good! Now we can elect an anti-American dictator that will lead us into the nucular age!”
And the Israeli’s said, “This is good! Now we can solve our problems with the Palestinians in peace while they fight among themselves!”
And the Saudis said, “This is good! Now oil prices will skyrocket and we will become even filthier rich!”
And the Al Quida members said, “This is good! Now we can recruit many more crazies to do bizzare things in the market places of the world!”
And Ben Laden said, “This is great! Bedlam, mayhem, destruction, and confusion! It doesn’t get any better than this!
And the poor Iraqi boy hiding in the hole under a blown out building said, “This is bad! It is dark and I am hungry. At least under a dictator I could read my Koran after school. Now there is no electric light, no school, and I am hungry because I am afraid to go to the market place. Besides, I have no money and no family! I may as well strap on a bombers vest and go to a better place!
And the American people shake their head and say, “Where is our Decider, that Great One who has promised to fix this mess?”
Good on you Patrice. ANOTHER good thread.
I note that Nathan offered only derision, no refutation or rebuttal.
I agree with rm that Halliburton belongs on that list.
Geno? You’re nuts. You and Roscoe need to go sit in the bib section!
For the record? Didn’t you Gene Raston tell us before that you wife is Israeli? I say that would color your posts in this matter. Americans are finally waking up to America causing itself no end of problems in its support of Israel. They are beginning to look again at that policy. I’m sorry you don’t like it but there it is.
Roscoe – way before 2005. It was either Cheney or Rumdfield at the very beginning of the war saying months not years. That was back when curveball was telling us all his lies and Ahmed Chalabi would take over. By 2005 it had become obvious that was not the case.
The Democrits use the phrase Mission Accomplished from a banner put up by brave men aboard a US Navy ship! They distort their own twisted pleasure to use that phrase to cover everything their minds of demonizing can portray! Only the sadistic foul demon would extract a phrase by brave men and twist it to their own satanic meaning!
ben hui does not know! He thinks it was! Maybe it was! Or perhaps it was! It bears repeating if ben hui says it so even though he knows not where it comes or to exactly what it pertains!
Roscoe – it was conclusively shown that that was put there by the Bush operatives; not the sailors.
Roscoe – it was conclusively shown that that was put there by the Bush operatives; not the sailors.
Roscoe, if you think Americans are going to give this the years necessary for success, you’re sorely mistaken.
How many years do you think this will take?
I don’t have the answer, but I do believe we haven’t even begun the job yet. Yeah, we’re there and we’re square, but the real institutions of democracy won’t BEGIN to take root until a (1) secure, (2) stable, and (3) properly partitioned nation(s) take the place of the geographical space inhabited by Iraq ca2002. (RE partitioning: possible combinations to be drawn from Kurds, and Sunni and Shiia muslim TRIBES; the partition can be like before, with Iraq as one heterogeneous country, or any subset of any of the combinations possible.)
When that’s done, when the geography is settled, then we still need a generation with a blank slate. A new generation with blank slates as minds, that is, open to accepting that reason can trump Allah when it comes to government and civic affairs.
I think the best case here would involve recruiting the rest of the world (ROW) to help sort out Iraq’s geography. We need resources here. After the geography’s sorted out, we will have to babysit that first generation until they are capable of governing by employing the lessons of reason we’ve inculcated in them for the requisite 40+ years. I say 40 years because majorities in democracies generally fail to support leaders any younger.
Under George W Bush, we haven’t even begun the process of bringing in ROW help.
I think we’re looking at commitment of at least 50 years here.
Are Americans up for it? Maybe but unlikely, imo, especially given American demographics (dominated by baby boomers, who will suck resources like mad for the next 40 years or so, the resources required in Iraq not here).
That said, note that under Bush Day Zero is still 22 months away.
Take a chill pill roscoe – you seem to be a bit upset. I am not the world’s best ‘googler’ but I am sure it will turn up. Call me a liar; I don’t care what a worthless dreg like you thinks.
cue rhetorical meltdown from Gene Raston and Roscoe in 3……2……1
Are you better off now, 47 months after the invasion of Iraq?
I think not.
Al Qaeda is strong and better trained. Our government has borrowed another $677 billion from the Chinese. We have lost 3,187 of our finest men and women in combat. We are despised by a goodly portion of the world and by virtually every Muslim on the planet.
We are no safer while being less capable of dealing with a true threat to our country.
This is what George W Bush has delivered.
MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!!
Roscoe–
Disgraced former Sec’ry of War Donald Rumsfeld when asked how long the war would take said, “it could be six days, six weeks . . . I doubt six months.”
Also, where did you get your information about Marx? Marx wasn’t interested in the common good at all–he wasn’t interested in justice at all for he thought there was no basis for justice (no God). He believed that the proletariate should take power over the capitalists simply because they can.
From the preamble to the US Constitution, government should “promote the general Welfare”–sounds pretty much like the common good to me.
Also, Roscoe and Gene–how do you like your military pensions and social security? Both programs brought to you by liberals.
http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/nationworld/chi-0302080142feb08,1,3957380.story?coll=chi-entertainment-utl&ctrack=1&cset=true
During a visit to American forces based at Aviano Air Force Base in Italy, Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld said the length of any war was uncertain but then went on to estimate that it could be “six days, six weeks, I doubt six months.”
New York Times News ServicePublished February 8, 2003
MISSION ACCOMPLISHED facts:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mission_Accomplished
Mission: 1) Remove the Government (Saddam Hussein) from power. 2) Create a Democratic and Free Iraq which will serve as a beacon for all of palestine.Status: 1) Accomplished.2) Open for debate. Democratic elections have been held. A Constituition is in place. The forces of evil in palestine are fighting it.
There is a big difference between an invasion tasking and an occupying force! The invasion was the tone of the conversation when the question was posed! Revisionist history as usual by the Democrits!
Also the right-wing lie that Bush Co didn’t put up the banner but it was a sponteneous outburst by the navy men on the aircraft carrier is pure BS.
The “mission accomplished” banner, the jet flight, the canned applause starters were all Bush Co PR from the get-go.
“At yesterday’s WH press briefing, Tony Snow worked overtime to spin Bush’s “Mission Accomplished” speech. “I think the public ought to just listen to what the president has to say. You know that the mission accomplished banner was put up by members of the USS Abraham Lincoln, and the president, on that very speech, said just the opposite, didn’t he?” No he didn’t, Tony. Not even close. And the bit about the sailors being responsible for the banner. It was a lie then, Tony. It’s still a lie now. . . .
Scott Sforza, a former ABC producer, ‘embedded’ himself on that carrier days before the President hit the deck. Along with Bob DeServi, a former NBC cameraman and lighting specialist, and Greg Jenkins, a former Fox News television producer, he planned out every detail of the President’s landing, as Bumiller put it, ‘even down to the members of the Lincoln crew arrayed in coordinated shirt colors over Mr. Bush’s right shoulder and the Mission Accomplished banner placed to perfectly capture the president and the celebratory two words in a single shot. The speech was specifically timed for what image makers call magic hour light, which cast a golden glow on Mr. Bush. . . .
“the President was already pinning the idea for creating that banner on the sailors and airmen of the Abraham Lincoln; only to have the White House finally admit that it had produced the banner — supposedly at the request of those same sailors and airmen; and then, well … not.
http://nationaldebunker.blogspot.com/2007/01/theres-tony-snows-version-of-mission.html
The “mission accomplished” footage was so embarrasing that they later tried to doctor it out.
See video below.

It’s not surprising that Commander Cod Piece who fabricated a war would then lie about lying about it.
Then there was the DoD ’slide show’ the Eagle had here a while back that showed us down to a token 5000 troops by now.
No Roscoe, your RepukeniCONS had it all wrong.
That’s okay, Gene and Roscoe.
Continue to believe the blatant lies of the big-money party as they tell you the reassuring words you love to hear–any problem can be solved with enough fire power.
Meanwhile, we despised democrats will continue to make sure that social security and pensions are there for you so you don’t starve in the street.
Nevermind, that this is what you WANT to happen to us. We’ll still work for your and everyone else’s well-being because, hey, we’re progressives.
George W Bush, on the deck of the USS Abraham Lincoln, May 1, 2003:
“In the Battle of Iraq, the United States and our allies have prevailed.”
Sounds like Mission accomplished to me.
What else did he mean? After all, he and Cheney said that we would be greeted as liberators. Rumsfeld said that the war would last six days, six weeks.. I doubt six months.
The speech on the air craft carrier was billed as a victory speech, and that is why they went to the trouble of flying Bush in on a fighter plane despite the fact that they ship was only 30 miles off shore and had been there for ten hours.
“2) Create a Democratic and Free Iraq which will serve as a beacon for all of palestine.Status:2) Open for debate.’Posted by: Mr Kia | February 25, 2007 at 01:13 PM
LOL. And I thought it was the left who wants to cut and run!
Woo boy, Gene, you down with Mr. K’s analysis here?
If we can just jerry-rig a “debate” and have some heavyweight types* declare the “debate” “won” by the US, can we leave then?
*–You can rent ‘em, you know. ;)
Oh my gosh, KIA, YOU’RE RIGHT!
We overthrew Saddam, we created democracy, and Iraqis have had elections.
We succeeded!
So let’s get the hell out of there right now.
I will give Bush all the credit and the glory of “winning” if he just pulls our boys out of that shining beacon of hope and freedom . . .
Roscoe! Look at the facts! Bush blew it! The Neocons were wrong! Cheney and Bush are liars! The war cost us ten times the original estimate! The war has lasted eight times as long as the worst case scenario estimate! We have lost more than 3,000 men and women since Bush declared the end of major combat operations! None of the women include Barbie, Jenna or Mary! The terorists have gained strength! Our troops have been strectched to the limit!
The Republicans are to blame!
Bush is to blame!
Cheney is to blame!
I don’t think there are any “winners” here. This has been an action taken to hold onto a dying Anglo-American ideology. Grab the second or third largest oil reserve, and make China buy oil on Anglo-American terms. That’s a classic “middleman” tactic. Insinuate yourself into a transaction that really doesn’t NEED YOU.
The right-wingers cite Adam Smith and talk about “comparative advantages”. American has no comparative advantage. Our military cannot defeat guerillas any more than England could defeat American guerillas in 19975-1789. Did Dick Cheney not learn a lesson as a Nixon accolyte during Vietnam? Didn’t he study what happened to France in Vietnam and Algeria?
England had to give up India. Africa was plundered, but European rule didn’t work.
Imperialism, colonialism, neocolonialism FAILS.
Let the people of the Middle East settle things in THEIR HOMELAND for themselves.
We Americans have bountiful energy resources. I think Ben will support me on this. Will they be as cheap as oil is today? No, but in 40 years, oil is not going to be cheap as it is today, either. And we will have turned to C02 and H20 a marvelous chemical-synthesis natural resource. That’s really STUPID.
It is the perversion of the phrase – Mission Accomplished – that only satisfies the intent of Satan’s will! You want to shame millions of seaman, soldiers, marines and airmen who have used this phrase daily when they complete a task, take a hill or complete the orders of their Commander! It is the Democrits disgusting perversion and use of the phrase only meant mock, to divide and humiliate our troops by the constant use of it! Evil intent rules your souls!
Here’s the full Rumsfeld quote:
“It is unknowable how long that conflict [the war in Iraq] will last. It could last six days, six weeks. I doubt six months.” -in Feb. 2003
Roscoe,
Please give the definition of the word CONFLICT. You referred to the INVASION. Are the two words interchangable? According to you, they’re not. An invasion is simply the “going in” part, right? The conflict is the whole kit and caboodle.
Want to try again?
I almost hope that I’ll see Roscoe had made a post when I come here now. It’s so much fun to watch him to show just how flipping insane the religious right is.
And just so we’re all on the right page about Rumsfeld, here’s some handy dandy quotes from him:
“We do know of certain knowledge that he [Osama Bin Laden] is either in Afghanistan, or in some other country, or dead.”
“We know where they are. They’re in the area around Tikrit and Baghdad and east, west, south and north somewhat.” –on Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction
“Death has a tendency to encourage a depressing view of war.”
“[Osama Bin Laden is] either alive and well or alive and not too well or not alive.”
“I believe what I said yesterday. I don’t know what I said, but I know what I think, and, well, I assume it’s what I said.”
“Needless to say, the President is correct. Whatever it was he said.”
“I’m not into this detail stuff. I’m more concepty.”
“I don’t do quagmires.”
“I don’t do diplomacy.”
“I don’t do foreign policy.”
“I don’t do predictions.”
“I don’t do numbers.”
“I don’t do book reviews.”
“If I know the answer I’ll tell you the answer, and if I don’t, I’ll just respond, cleverly.”
“Oh, Lord. I didn’t mean to say anything quotable.”
Democrits the party of Dividers not Uniters! Never a kind word unless it is a dog or cat! They impune their fellow man for his very existence and despise those who defend without lip service! Imbibers of tainted water! Consumers of unclean flesh! They shall reap what they sow!
Oooh! Roscoe, you sure do spin a phrase with your foul words. Satan. And here we had Joe! Williams telling us that righties don’t indulge in name-calling!
You use of Satan reminds me of your kin the Ayatollahs!
As for deviding instead of uniting – look at your hero Bush! He has devided this country like it hasn’t been devided in a generation! But, of course, you in the Party of the Blame game must point the finger at us. No surprise from a member of the Party of ‘pass-the-buck’!
Roscoe, the human being who is judge, jury and the final word.
I’ll repeat the words of CapnAmerica, “I will give Bush all the credit and the glory of “winning” if he just pulls our boys out of that shining beacon of hope and freedom . . .”
Sounds good to me too!
Roscoe, are you a parody of a right wing religious nut or are you truly a member of the RR?
Whatever you are, you are a nut of epic proportions.
It is interesting for the most part I would say Christians who are content in their salvation, knowing confidently where they will spend eternity are more likely to support the war. The success of the war would bring more stability to a region where their (my) beliefs point to the end of the world.
Whereas non-believers do not support the war, call for a very close if not immediate US exit, which would send the region closer to creating the rapture and the end of the world. Thus, speeding them (non believers) to eternal damnation.
Makes me wonder why I do support the effort. It is an interesting study in human behavior no?
Hey Roscoe?
Are you just here for the weekend or will you be here all week?
“imbibers of impure water.’
“consumers of unclean flesh”
?
Dude you are bashit freaking crazy! What are you gonna do next? Swing from the rafters and spit chiclets?
How’s about you show us what we’ve won in Iraq?
On the contrary Mr Kia
I think bush may well think he can precipitate armageddon and usher in the rapture by his actions in that region.
He HAS said that he thinks “god wants him to be President at this time.
It’s ironic that the Righties condemn Carter for the current govt. in Iran. When all carter did is what Bush wants to do with Iraq, give them a shot at self determination, which will achieve the same sort of govt. in Iran.
Hehe, notice how Roscoe and Gene raLston will whine and moan about ever “lib” thing that “libs” want–except when it comes to their tax-payer funded military pension and social security.
They earned that, by golly.
Ok then what is the Democratic Party Plan for Iraq?
What do you think needs to be done?
What will happen if we pull out?
Do you want the US to win?
“You want to shame millions of seaman, soldiers, marines and airmen who have used this phrase daily when they complete a task, take a hill or complete the orders of their Commander!”
It was that Commander (in Chief) that shamed our troops. HE was the one who claimed Mission Accomplished. What? You don’t like the left mocking him? Then get him out of office.
You lefties whine all the time about how hard it is, however you know if we pull out Iraq will fall and we will have a stirred up hornet’s nest.
We got here together, with a ALL Senators and Representatives (except for 9) voted FOR the IRAQ war. Everyone saw the SAME GD INTEL!!!
What is your plan?
HOw long do we need to stablisze Iraq?
Do you the Democratic Party WANT a Stable Iraq?
If so how do you propose us to get there?
“Thus, speeding them (non believers) to eternal damnation.”
You know what, Kia? It’s your hell. You burn in it.
Tyler, if you’re so gung ho about a stable Iraq (and we haven’t seen ONE DAY of that in over 4 years), get your butt over there and do something about it.
There WAS a stable Iraq. Not OUR choice of how a country should be ruled, but wouldn’t that be the resonsibility of the people who live there?
Yes, the people of Iraq voted…on the leaders WE wanted in there. And look how well that’s worked out. Did you know that there were hundreds of names on the list the people were voting on? How much do you want to bet that most didn’t have a clue who was who? Or really cared? They wanted food, water, electricity, the U.S. GONE, and we told them that was how they would get it. How’s that working for them?
—————————————-…Al-Sadr’s statement, read to his followers in Sadr City, is likely to add pressure on U.S. and Iraqi forces to show results in the nearly two-week-old crackdown.
“I’m certain, just like all oppressed Iraqis are certain, that no security plan will work and no good will come of any occupier,” al-Sadr said in the statement. “Here we are, watching booby trapped cars exploding to harvest thousands of innocent lives from our beloved people in the middle of a security plan that is controlled by an occupier who does as he pleases.”
U.S. and Iraqi leaders have urged the public to be patient, warning that it will take months before the security operation shows results. President Bush has ordered 21,500 more U.S. troops to Baghdad and surrounding areas, although the last units are not due until May.
Al-Sadr urged Iraq’s mostly Shiite security forces to “make your own Iraqi plans independent of the Americans.” …
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070225/ap_on_re_mi_ea/iraq;_ylt=At2IrTdlvbPsipUHuw_AIGSs0NUE—————————————-
LOL. How’s that fit into your “shining beacon of light for palestine” grading system, Mr. Kia? I mean, al Sadr’s words would seem to perhaps shade things a tad bit to “not open for debate after all, crap” grade on #2, no?
Tyler, what’s your take here?
Let me guess: shoot al Sadr.
Right? You know you want to!
LOL
Looks like Sadr’s playing it smart, lay low, Americans clean out many of his adversaries, come back later unscathed and ready to take care of business.I read our great buddies in Israel have fed intelligence to Bush Admin. that “Iran has missles capable of hitting Europe”, Bush has had plans for a strike on Iran drawn up, and able to execute in 24 hrs. How long before we hear “an attack from Iran can come in 45 minutes?
These can’t be the words of Americans, perhaps of those who side with Islamic Facists like Al Sadr! An abomination of God’s Word is what Al Sadr represents! All that is evil and destructive and yet the Democrits quote him as if he their guiding authority!
steve, steve, steve. Are you suggesting that a redneck like al Sadr could play George W Bush, aka Commander Codpiece in Chief, like a fiddle?
Say it ain’t so steve! ;)
LOL
“Everyone saw the SAME GD INTEL!!!”
Wrong, Durden. Bush, Cheney, Tenent et al, cherry picked the intelligence to fit the rush to war. Even the Neocons admit that the intelligence was cherry picked and distorted. When Bush was given authorization to use force with Iraq if necessary, the inspectors had just started their job. That was October 2002. By March of 2003, shortly before the invasion, the inspectors had determined that Saddam did not have a WMD plan.
Bush and the Neocons fixed the intel around the conclusion that they were going to invade Iraq.
“Wrong, Durden. Bush, Cheney, Tenent et al, cherry picked the intelligence to fit the rush to war.”
WRONG Mr. Clark, the Senators and Representatives got the same NIE that the President got, and many of them did not bother to read it. Remember the NIE was the one with the statments about uncooberated data and information, that the Dems seized on later, but not at the time. As for the WMD’s there were some found, that were supposed to be gotten rid of earlier, about 2500 some cannon rounds. The WMD were “degraded” from weapons form, but are still 70% lethal. So yes there are WMD’s all over that area. Plus they are now using Chlorine. That is a new wrinkle. Think about what they could do here with all the chlorine at H2O plants across our cities, and a few placed IED’s. It would be Jericho.
“”"”"”"”"”"”"”"”"”"”"”"”"”"”"”"”"”‘
“al-Sadr said in the statement. “Here we are, watching booby trapped cars exploding to harvest thousands of innocent lives from our beloved people in the middle of a security plan that is controlled by an occupier who does as he pleases.”"
Al Sadr is the one convincing his followers to blow up Iraqi’s. And that is your quote?
Yes, and I think he was told that if and when the US goes the last thing they will do id put a bullet in his head.
THAT is why he went to Iran.
Tyler–
1. The democratic plan is the one George McGovern put forward in Harper’s.
http://www.harpers.org/TheWayOutOfWar.html
2. The democrats in Congress did NOT vote to invade Iraq. They voted to give the President the authority to invade Iraq. Most of them since then said that they thought that was a mistake (Bush = bats*** crazy).
But there’s a big difference. Most dems thought they were voting to help Bush bluff Saddam down. They weren’t voting for a full-scale invasion and occupation without end . . .
Roscoe–
You’re stark raving nuts.
From now on, you’re a scroll over.
No point in discussing anything with flipping Charles Mason . . .
But continue to enjoy the pension I PAY FOR, dipswitch.
Lastly, Tyler.
Why aren’t you over there since you love the idea of killing “terrorists” so much?
People keep asking you that and you keep dodging it . . .
Captain Vomitus I pay taxes too! I more than paid for any pension I get or will get! Its Marxists like you that are more danger to America!
Captain Vomitus! Why arent you over there killing terrorists! I know! You side with them and use their philosophies including quoting their doctrine! Captain Vomitus and Terrorists are the same thing!
Orderly, it’s time for Mr. Manson’s restraints now . . .
Actually it is God’s RD, but I will pray for your soul.
“Senators and Representatives got the same NIE that the President got”
Senators and Congressmen do NOT receive National Intelligence Estimates. Those go strictly to the President, VP, S oof S and the National Security Advisor.
But thanks for playing the game, Durden.
“Actually it is God’s RD, but I will pray for your soul.”
Thanks. I never turn down a prayer for my soul. If it helps, I’m ahead. If it doesn’t, you’ve wasted your time. :)
Since when is hell God’s? I thought it was Satan’s dominion?
Oh, and by the way, I’ll reword it so you understand. He’s YOUR God, They’re YOUR rules, YOU burn in Hell!
Our troops won the war and did so in short order
The kind of nation building “victory” that bush is looking for is not achievable for at least 2 generations of Iraqis under US occupation.
That’s 40-50 years.
Roscoe, Tyler, Gene, Kia
Are you prepared to support that mission?
Here we go again. The “Limbaugh-whites” addled BushBots cannot phrase an arguement in support of their war so it’s back to the name-calling. Satan. Marxist. Captain Vomitus!
“An abomination of God’s Word is what Al Sadr represents!” – and we are going to build a government with such abominations? Come on Roscoe – why don’t you just tell your God to rain down lightning bolts?!
“Imbibers of tainted water! Consumers of unclean flesh! They shall reap what they sow!” Call down them lightning bolts false prophet Roscoe! I DEFY YOU!!!!!
God’s wrath is His own! Pray that you are not on the receiving end!
That is why I don’t fear it false-prophet. YOU don’t control. YOU are preaching falsehoods. Serpents come from your mouth!
Satan shall deceive the righteous and take many forms!
And Roscoe is one of them!
I ALSO get more than a little tired of the bushbots demanding a democratic solution to Iraq.
Think of it this way…
Tyler and I are walking through a museum. Tyler notices that a Ming vase is not sitting properly on its pedestal. He attempts to adjust the vase…and it crashes to the floor and breaks in thousands of pieces!
He finds he cannot repair the vase of course. But when the guard comes to see what has happened he points at me and demands that I fix the vase!
No folks this one is all yours for as far as it goes and as bad as it gets. YOUR guy made the mess and you were gung ho for him to do it.
It wasn’t God who made Honkytonk angels!!!
Ok, I tried ranting insanely Roscoe.Back to you!
Poor imitation J R. You don’t foam at the mouth enough.
Tyler should have found the Curator of the Museum to tell him about the vase! Tyler caused the broken vase! Tyler does not understand the concept of ownership or responsibility!
JR,
Sorry, but apparently Bush (and Tyler) didn’t understand Colin Powell when he spoke of Pottery Barn Rules. ;)
The problem is that Bush and the Neocons don’t consider Iraq to be broken.
Cheney thinks things are going great and that we have made enormous progress. Damn, Inhofe thinks that what has happened in Iraq is nothing short of a miracle.
According to the Neocons, there is no need to buy since nothing is broken.
“Why aren’t you over there since you love the idea of killing “terrorists” so much?
People keep asking you that and you keep dodging it . . .”
I M in a wheel chair.
“Senators and Congressmen do NOT receive National Intelligence Estimates. Those go strictly to the President, VP, S oof S and the National Security Advisor.”
Sure they do Mr. Clark, remember the NIE that the Dems rushed out of committee stating that the Iraq War could increase terrorism worlwide IF NOT CHECKED! That is where you lefties get your talking points from,… but you forgot that didn’t you?
Okay, good reason, Tyler.
Beats Rush Limbaugh’s butt cyst . . .
“No folks this one is all yours for as far as it goes and as bad as it gets. YOUR guy made the mess and you were gung ho for him to do it.”
OK JR then step back keep your mouth shut and let the guys with balls take care of the mess. Wars are a mess, that is why countires need to comply with UN Resolutions.
“Beats Rush Limbaugh’s butt cyst . . .”
That’s a lefty for you, cry for the poor disabled, but when they oppose you personally attack them and their infirminaty.
Class act there Cap’n. Class act!
You’re not accepting government disability or anything are you, because that would be GASP! socialism . . .
I WAS attacking Rush. I wasn’t attacking you.
But I’ll attack you if you want me too, Tyler . . .
Excuse me Tyler.
I won’t be “stepping back and shutting up” for you or anyone else. Thanks.
Oh and by the way? It’s “the guys with the balls” who MADE this mess.
“rushed out of committee stating that the Iraq War could increase terrorism worlwide IF NOT CHECKED! ”
That NIE was leaked by the a White House operative – not by the Democrats. If it was leaked by the Dems, why didn’t they leak all of it? Why did the Dems request that the WH release all of it?
Once again, thanks for playing the game, Durden.
Mega-dittos, CapnAmerica!
Holy Hell…
I’ve missed quite the fight tonight…
We have Roscoe, the false profit claiming to be God and Tyler Durden claiming to be a character from a movie that he clearly never saw…
Wow, talk about a couple “out there” people… I’ll leave the rest of the debate to Captain, Hard Truth and the rest of you guys… These two are nuts… Truth, capn et al, talk some since into these two…
Then cats will rain down from the great WalMart and the evil oppressors of freedom and the pulpit will feel the wrath of He that is wise and Mighty and all you who stand in their way wil be cast down into lawaway and there shall be no air conditioning you are a blight on mine eyes for hearing your drivle and those that question are evil and, and,
Damn, sorry about that.I must have read too many Roscoe posts.
Good try brian but you still can’t compete with Roscoe!
You know, Phelps’ clan hangs out here from time to time…
Will the United States ever be on the list of winners in Iraq? Admittedly it would only be through Bush&Co. plan working as planned, the first time out, right from the gate, in the beginning, right out of the box, simple “plug and play”.
OK? So what now, can Iraq be saved so that the U.S. will be added to the list? It will take some tough actions, strong will and determined actions. A strong, authority that will be willing to do what ever it takes to bring order and stability to Iraq. There will have to be a period where the good of the nation take precedence over the rights of the people. Those who oppose the government will need to silenced less they cause descent. It would be for the good of Iraq and its people that these un-stabilizing influence be killed or imprisoned. There can be no accepting of intolerance of the government’s opinion and laws, to that end it should be everyone’s duty to report any speech that is critical of the government. Failure to do so should carry the death penalty for failing to report it. That way those that hold opposing views and desires can be held accountable.
That is the only way that democratic ideas can be brought to Iraq and the full plan of Bush&Co. can be realized. Once done then the United States will have a reliable supply of oil for years to come!
See Gene has shown me the light and Tyler has shown me it is God’s will that the above needs to happen.
Where or Where has Roscoe gone,
Where or Where can he be…
Maybe his God struck him down…
(Evil Laugh, rubbing hands in glee)
Satan shall deceive the righteous and take many forms!

Roscoe thy lord Satan has called you home… you did not manage to deceive anyone here.
A Blog full of God Haters and Deniers! They will experience the ultimate loneliness of permanent, torturous death!
FYI: TV News Story, Must See!
Monday Night on KWCH (12) 10pm News Cast is a story about a returning Solder from Iraq who has been gone for over a year returning to find massive bills and an unresponsive mortgage company.
I’d say this is a must watch for anyone arguing the validity of this war and/or the policies stemming from it.
Call down that lightning bolt False Prophet Roscoe! But you can’t. You are FALSE! Snakes come from every orifice in your maggot-infested body! You reek of brimstone! Go back to the Pit from whence you came!
Roscoe, to which blog do you refer? Who will ‘experience the ultimate loneliness’?
Roscoe, Roscoe, Roscoe…
Ok, ill bite…
Mr. all powerful Roscoe…
I call on you to strike me down with your might… Strike me down with lightning, or at least some static electricity…
I don’t know why people seem to have a problem with Iran. I have no problem with Iran myself and don’t care about their nuke program. If any country should develop a good nuke defense, it is Iran. Iran has never attacked any country yet it has been attacked, colonized and generally abused by its Sunni neighbours and imperial western powers (USA and UK come to mind) for centuries. And of course Iran is going to do what it has to do make sure Iraq- especially southern Iraq- remains in friendly hands (read Shite) just as we would do if it were Canada or Mexico. I frankly don’t know what the problem is. Iran has as much a right to defend its interest as any other nation does.
Roscoe – a question: Who appointed you to be God’s spokesperson? The same person who appointed Phelps? Haggard?
kev – good points. Iran has not attacked her neighbors; however they WERE attacked BY a neighbor, in a proxy war supplied by the USA. Maybe that have good reason to be ‘paranoid.’
Hey Roscoe, still waiting….
Tony: Forgetting the politics and arguments for or against Iraq, I’d say it’s a must watch for anyone who isn’t afraid to face the prices our vets and their families are paying for their sin. Their sins being putting their lives on the line day after day, so that millions of ungrateful bastards can pay lip service to their sacrifice, as long as it doesn’t interfere with their trip to the mall. Their sins being uprooting their own comfortable lives to go die in a desert on the other side of the world, while their families struggle to keep food on the table and roofs over their heads. Their sins being one parent trying to be both and reassure the children there is nothing to worry about, while they themselves are worried sick and afraid every time a car pulls in the drive or the doorbell rings. But, hey, did you hear that Willie Nelson is going to be intown next month? How about that Brittany Spears? Ain’t that wild?
Ben: Did you empty your e.mail?
rm – yes
One thing I remember from the vets I knew in the 70s is that they got the shaft from the ’system’ – VA, employers, creditors, etc. The same people who would have magnets on their cars and fly flags. I fear we are repeating that.
The reason I asked was that when I tried to answer that Oklahoma law question the e.mail kept getting “bounced back” as “full”.
Yep. I remember hearing otherwise seemingly sane people saying things like, “Yeah, this guy’s really sharp, but, he did two tours in ‘Nam — he could short circuit and start shooting us all some day…I don’t know?” And I’m standing there not believing what I’m hearing, and unable to do anything about it.
ha ha ha… I’m calling you a lire Roscoe…
No strike down from your God. Therefor you are a FAKE! You are not a God, you do not know what a real God is and you are nothing but a blowhard moron who spouts useless dribble for attention because your mommy didn’t pat your ass enough…
Get a life and stop wasting our time.
rm
Willie coming to town? Really? hell, I’d go see him…
Think he’ll get arrested again for using his medication? ;-)
Obviously, Ben, that was sarcasm directed towards the superficiality of some people — as in, yes, I’d stop the war and bring all of our folks home, as long as I don’t miss the concert/movie/soap opera episode, etc.!
But, seriously, yes, he’ll be in Wichita on March 27th. I think at the Cotillion. KFDI’s involved, and I’m sure all the info is on their website.
Medications? Drugs? Willie? Oh, surely you jest, my friend…. ;)!
Yea, it came through. My email has limited capacity – especially with ‘gifs etc. Have a good one rm …
You are definitely correct about the ’short circuit’ comment; I had a few friends come real close to that when I was with them. We would do our best to just let them ‘let go’; I cannot imagine the pain.
Yeah, Ben, I just checked it and it is the Cotillion on the 27th at 8:00 p.m. Just saw on the news that there was a serious fire at Jack’s Carry Out this afternoon. God, that place was there across from North High back in the 50’s!
What part of KILL THE INFIDEL do people not understand. They are the Killers we are the Killees. They don’t want to change our religion they want to wipe us off the map.Maybe when Sharia law has been put in place and your daughters are caged behind the veil, your sons beheaded, and you yourselves stoned, you will understand why winning was so important. Then again probably not. People who have no understanding of the importance of freedom, have little understanding of sacrifice either.
“People who have no understanding of the importance of freedom, have little understanding of sacrifice either.”Posted by: seanmahair | February 25, 2007 at 10:09 PM
Yeah, I too thought the Patriot Act was completely anti-American.
seanmahair,
Indeed. So go to Iraq and sacrifice yourself, already.
Moron. Read more comics, dude.
sean – perhaps you have failed to notice – WE are over THERE. Iraq never attacked us. Their enemy did.
We need better management.
When the American people stop pretending to care about the “well-being” of the “poor Iraqi people” everything will come much more clear to your Prozac-induced haze. Americans didn’t even care (and still don’t) abotu the poor people in New Orleans and that is IN YOUR OWN COUNTRY.
Stop pretending and GROW UP.
I guess it shouldn’t be surprising that all the ditto heads on this blog wouldn’t know how fierce communist hater and high school football player skipped out of service in Vietnam.
This is from Snopes.com.
“When Rush Limbaugh first came of draft age he held a 2-S (college deferment) Selective Service System classification as a student at Southeast Missouri State University in 1969-70, but after he dropped out of college at the end of his first year he no longer qualified for a student deferment and was subject to being reclassified as 1-A (available immediately for military service) and drafted. Selective Service System records show that Limbaugh was reclassified as 1-Y (qualified for service only in time of [declared] war or national emergency) on 24 November 1970, which effectively ended his draft eligibility and ensured that he would not be called for service.
“What was the basis of Limbaugh’s 1-Y classification? The Selective Service System records still available indicate that the classification was not assigned on psychological or moral grounds, but because of a physical problem. And since there are no records indicating that Limbaugh was ever examined by a physician at an Armed Forces Entrance Examining Station (i.e., he never underwent a pre-induction physical), the 1-Y classification was almost certainly assigned based on a report Limbaugh had his own doctor prepare and submit to his draft board. (No implication that the report was fabricated is intended; the point is merely to note that Limbaugh’s deferment was based upon an examination conducted by a private doctor, not one administered by an Armed Services physician.)
“What was the physical problem that disqualified Rush Limbaugh from the draft? Limbaugh biographer Paul D. Colford notes that:
‘As for Limbaugh himself, the broadcaster stated that he was not drafted during the Vietnam War because he had been classified 4-F after a physical found that he had an “inoperable pilonidal cyst” and “a football knee from high school.” He added: “I made no effort to evade it or avoid it.”‘2(Technically, Limbaugh’s classification during his primary year of draft eligibility was 1-Y, not 4-F; he was only reclassified as 4-F after the 1-Y classification was abolished on 10 December 1971.)
‘Which of the two stated medical reasons was the primary one behind Limbaugh’s 1-Y classification is difficult to determine directly since individual medical files held by his draft board have long since been destroyed. Some, such as Limbaugh biographer Paul Colford, imply that Limbaugh’s knee injury was minor or non-existent:
Asked about Limbaugh’s “football knee from high school,” [Ryland] Meyr, the coach during his lone year of play, said he did not remember any injury.2However, that Limbaugh did indeed have a pilonidal cyst seems indisputable, as he himself, his mother, and his brother all maintain that he did:
Yet, for all his father’s patriotism, and deep-rooted fear of Communism, Rusty (Rush) did not enlist to preserve those ideals. The official explanation, David Limbaugh said, is that Rush had a student deferment and, like his father, had a pilonidal cyst on his ass which qualified him for a medical deferment.3
Limbaugh’s mother said in 1993 that she did not know if her son had a physical or not, but she added that he did have a pilonidal cyst like his father.2And a pilonidal cyst was indeed a legitimately disqualifying condition:
According to the Military Entrance Processing Command, a pilonidal cyst was then and is today a so-called “disqualifying condition” for induction. It’s a congenital incomplete closure of the neural groove at the base of the spinal cord in which excess tissue and hair may collect and cause discomfort and discharge. The malady can be corrected by surgery, but short of that it is viewed by the military as a needless risk amid unsanitary conditions in the field.2
Not only did Mighty Mouth Rush Limbaugh knowingly avoid service in Vietnam with the “butt boil,” he later lied about it:
When asked about this issue nowadays, Limbaugh dismisses it as “Internet BS,” as in this excerpt from a transcript of a December 2002 call to his radio program:
CALLER: And Rush you never mentioned how you dodged the Vietnam draft.
LIMBAUGH: I didn’t.
CALLER: Yes, you did. You claimed you had a boil on your butt . . .
LIMBAUGH: No, you see, that’s part of popular mythology that is out there that I have not whined nor complained about, Greg. But that is just a bunch of internet BS and hyperbole. Never happened. Was not the cause, wasn’t the case.

I personally heard with my own two ears Rush claim on his TV show (long ago cancelled) that he tried to join the Army to serve in ‘Nam but couldn’t because “I was too overweight.”
Seems Rushbo has all kinds of reasons why somebody else had to fight the war he supported . . .
So, Capn’ are you saying that Rush “Vietnam was totally justified” Limbaugh did NOT serve in the Vietnam Era because he had a PIMPLE ON HIS ASS?
That cannot be true.
Jeff Christy is a true American hero, he would have doen ANYTHING to protect his country from Godless commies.
Jeff Christy! Hehehe, I had almost forgotten he used that name.
I’m surprised he didn’t just call himself Jesus Christy. That would be more consistent with his ego.
Jeff Christy. I wished I used that as my blog name LOL.
Thw time is comung when U.S.A. will become so disabled that it won’t be able interfere anymore. When that time comes, it’s really the Period of the Apocalypse. China will be free, Europe will be free, Islam will be free. Imagine them all fighting for that same freedom: The Freedom to really “F-K UP” this world. Each one of them will try to make a grab for the same Real Estate, the same Nirvana. And, they’ll come against each other armed to death and no one will be around anymore strong enough to pry them apart. It’s really BYE, BYE World
