An update on Mrs. writerdog, she has been in a lot of pain since coming out of surgery but I got a very encouraging phone call at 9:30 P.M. It was her calling to wish me a good night and to say they had taken the chest tube out and she was feeling better overall. The nurses have told me she is doing better then they expected and they moved her from ICU to a regular room Wednesday afternoon. If she keeps this up she might be home the beginning of next week. She told me she did not want me to move our big bed back up stairs and to find a smaller one to put in the upstairs bedroom. Having open heart surgery, laying in a hospital bed with tubes coming out of her and in quite a bit of pain. And she is still being bossy! Glad to see her coming back to normal… LoL.

Is the Beagle so desperate for sports writers that they’re having the food editor (Joe Stumpf) write Super Bowl Reviews —

His “wildly erratic” comment about Rex Grossman is more than a little off — erratic for sure — but in a crunch very dependable — not wildly erratic.

A better example of “wildly erratic” is the Beagle’s editorial policies and it’s long term quality and effectiveness as a viable news source…..

Ah, Fleet, that was not an official “nomination” for the Nobel Prize for Limbaugh. He was nominated by an organization (Landmark) where he sits on the board of directors.

The only people elgible for a Nobel Prize are those that are nominated by the Nobel committee. They don’t take unsolicited nominations.

Literally thousands of people get “nominated” for Nobel Prizes.

    It means absolutely nothing.

    Here’s something really interesting:

    http://www.editorandpublisher.com/eandp/news/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1003540604

After a long day or legal wrangling and no witnesses, an FBI agent took the stand shortly before 3 p.m. She is Deborah Bond, a 19-year veteran, called into the probe of who may have leaked name of classified agent.

She described the bureau’s interview with I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby on Oct. 14, 2003. Asked where he first learned of Ambassador Joe Wilson’s wife, Valerie Plame, he had told the FBI then — from the vice president, on or about June 12 that year, in a telephone conversation.

Vice President Cheney had also said that she worked in “CP” or counter-proliferation at the agency. How did Cheney know this? From someone at the CIA — possibly director George Tenet, but Libby wasn’t sure.

How to explain Libby originally claiming he had first heard about Wilson’s wife from NBC’s Tim Russert in July? He had simply forgotten he had actually heard it from the vice president a month or more earlier, Libby said. But Libby’s notes, produced by prosecutors during this testimony, did show notations from June 12 regarding Wilson’s wife. And Libby later confirmed this in a second FBI interview.

    *****

That’s three credible witnesses against and one Scooter Libby saying, “I forgot.”

Hell, that didn’t work when I was 14 and missed curfew. “I’m sorry, Mr. Girlfriend’s Father, I for-GOT we were supposed to be back by 11.”

    Pathetic.

  27. Posted February 2, 2007 at 9:09 am | Permalink

And where is Liddy . . . er . . . I mean, Libby getting his knowledge of Wilson’s wife?

Right from the handwritten notes of Dead-Eye Dick Cheney and G W Smoke Em Outta Their Holes Bush.

  28. Posted February 2, 2007 at 10:20 am | Permalink

These can’t be the same people who believed Webb Hubbel, Susan McDougal, Hillary and Bill about the Whitewater Land Deal when they could never remember a thing – eventhough we now know that the original documents from the Rose Law Firm with all the pertinent facts were conveniently being stored by Hillary in the Clinton’s private living area of the White House. I still say Libby is a non issue and it was a fishing expedition to get Rove or Cheney and when they couldn’t, Fitzgerald went after Libby because he couldn’t put his lips around the words “No one to indite”.

gster beat me to it. Ugly stuff. And it pours cold water on both the “Splurge,” and the Administration’s attempt to distract the public by going after Iran.

Spencer Ackerman over at TPM Muckraker has the following read of its assessment of Iran.

“About Iran. This must have been one of the most controversial elements of the estimate: Iraq’s neighbors are “not likely to be a major driver of violence or the prospects for stability because of the self-sustaining character of Iraq’s internal sectarian dynamics.” There’s the expected qualifications that Iran and Syria are up to no good, but this is the major point. In other words, no matter how much Bush wants to lay the blame for the disintegration of Iraq on the meddlesome interference of Iran and Syria, the U.S.-sponsored political process itself — indeed, the new, U.S.-midwifed Iraqi political order — itself sows the seeds for the country’s destruction. Apparently Bush could attack Iran to his heart’s content, and Iraq would still remain inflamed.”

    http://www.tpmmuckraker.com/archives/002469.php

Ackerman also makes the point that this NIE only includes what’s been declassified. One wonders what hasn’t been.

So typical of this ‘Administration’ to try to bury the bad news in a Friday news dump. But I’m still glad that the report is seeing the light of day before the Senate debates and votes on the proposed, non-binding resolutions condemning/supporting the Splurge.

The public has a right to know, after all.

    2. You have to believe that businesses create oppression and governments createprosperity.

    3. You have to believe that guns in the hands of law-abiding citizens are moreof a threat than U.S. nuclear weapons technology in the hands of Iran or Chineseand North Korean communists.

    4. You have to believe that there was no art before federal funding.

    5. You have to believe that global temperatures are less affected by cyclicalchanges in the earth’s climate and more affected by soccer moms driving SUV’s.

    6. You have to believe that gender roles are artificial, but being homosexual isnatural.

    7. You have to believe that the AIDS virus is spread by a lack of federalfunding.

    8. You have to believe that the same teacher who can’t teach 4th-graders how toread is somehow qualified to teach those same kids about sex.

    9. You have to believe that hunters don’t care about nature, but PETA activistsdo.

    10. You have to believe that self-esteem is more important than actually doingsomething to earn it.

    11. You have to believe that Mel Gibson spent $25 million of his own money tomake “The Passion of the Christ” for financial gain only.

    12. You have to believe the NRA is bad because it supports certain parts of theConstitution, while the ACLU is good because it supports certain parts of theConstitution.

    13. You have to believe that taxes are too low, but ATM fees are too high.

    14. You have to believe that Margaret Sanger and Gloria Steinem are moreimportant to American history than Thomas Jefferson, Gen.Robert E. Lee, and Thomas Edison.

    15. You have to believe that standardized tests are racist, but racial quotasand set-asides are not.

    16. You have to believe that the only reason socialism hasn’t worked anywhereit’s been tried is because the right people haven’t been in charge.

    17. You have to believe that homosexual parades displaying drag queens andtransvestites should be constitutionally protected, and manger scenes atChristmas should be illegal.

    Hey Ben,

Maybe, normally the boy and I used the super bowl to ‘father-son-male-bond’. Kinda in a funk right now. We would get about twice the amount of shrimp and crablegs boiled up that we could expect to eat in about a week. Then momma would make us some nacho cheese dip and we would start on that.

I’d drink about 3 beers (my limit now without going back to the meetings) and the boy would drink soda or something.

He’s doing pretty good, got an email from him today. Had sort of a scare last week. Hadn’t heard from him for a while so I emailed his major. Told the major we were worried that our emails weren’t getting through. The major wrote a nice note back and said they had a communications lockdown until the next of kin were notified. Seems they took a hit. All of a sudden it brought home the fact again that our boy wasn’t at summer camp.

But the email from him today has allowed us to take a deep breath again without the associated shudder. Our prayers are with the families that got a different message from Iraq last week.

I’ll ask momma about Old Chicago and get back to you. I’m for the Colts, still want me there?

Joe,I agree. It seems to me that in my lifetime we all have become so polarized and because of that nothing gets accomplished. It is harder that hell to get real change because no one is willing to give even a little. But there have to be some things that you don’t compromise on. Things that harm other people for no good reason are wrong. That’s why I have such a problem with the war. What I find so interesting is that our President is the loudest about saying that any dissent from his message makes a person a traitor. The very thing we are supposed to be fighting for is the right he does not want us to exercise.

It is not uncommon for woman to develop means of “not trying to get pregnant” vs men’s means of “not trying to get pregnant”. The US Constitutional issue comes into play (in my opinion) at the true neo conception term which is in fact two week prior to any test can determine (ok, wait a minute here…I am an exception since I was one of those poor unfortunate victims that slipped through the cracks and was put through a saline induced abortion at the age of sixteen years old; a year AFTER THE US SUPREME COURT RULED IN UNCONSTITUTIONAL IN A CASE THAT TOOK PLACE IN THE MISSOURII COURTS.

Ok, now. Where are we at here? Let’s first look at the way and reason why this Country was founded and more specifically “why it was named” the “Mother Country to all that live here”.

My mind goes betwixed my fifth generation back to Glasgow, Scottland and the ill fated hand I’ve been dealt by my irresponsible parents.

Now, let’s switch to a differnt subject since “I” cannot change to whom I have been born to or the past, right.

Bottom line is, when humanity or society or a particular commuity (ie island) allows things to develop to a stage and do things that are by the “norms” of other societial (continental) societal standards unapproved…they seem to continue. In other words…..”once the jeanie or cat’s out of the bag” it is impossible to put it back in. Sort of like card counter visiting Vegas that will continue to do so since he knows he can get away with it, right?

Well, human beings are very much the same in their reproductive habits. They seem to, view as I’ve seen over the years, that they will continue to copulate (despite their stabilty status) with a full knowledge that there is a “way out”. This was honestly “not” my situation in the slightest and I do realize that I am perhaps setting myself up for a million stones; ie the witches of Salem or whatever.

I honestly had nothing to say about it. And if one were to truly put it into perspective after these past thirty years would realize that by other inter family events that have taken place that “I” wast the victim. I have dealt with a mother htat has suffered from a syndrome called “Muchausen by Proxy”. So, that’s another subject.

Bottom line is Partial Birth Abortion is not just unconstitutionally wrong but morally wrong. All abortion is wrong. I hope to see Roe VS Wade overturned in my lifetime.

    Give them an inch….

Ok…bottom line…I want you all to be aware (perhaps most importantly) that I am writing from Wisconsin. Wisconsin has a “no holds bar approach” to privacy and respect of the US Constitution. Simply meaning that they do not care about opening up everything from the second of arrest for whatever or upon doceting in the circuit court systems (in the majority of counties exept a few one of which lies close to the state’s capital and keeps me guessing…as to why not …perhaps it was because I visited that county with my great aunt who worked with the Air Force and then retired with the US Postal Service. I was robbed of my share of the estate by my dad her only nephew/neice and when it came time for me to take a trip to Kansas to gather up my 1/3 of the estate I couldn’t take off of work. Incidentally, I had just finished up with the Milwaukee Brewers World Series American League Pennant in 1992 so I couldn’t take off. So, once again I was robbed of my inheritance.

I am quite sure that there are millions and millions of Americans that can say the same thing. The thing that worries me the most now about the finances of America is not so much the war in the Middle East or even our involvement it it. It is something I heard about in early 2001 prior to the 9-11 incident…and that was (INTERNATIONAL) GAMBLING. More specifically INTERNET GAMBLING. Most of the companies are held off shores in remote (unextraditing countries)…

    Opps!

I’m getting way off track here.

    Focus 2007!!!!

STOP ABORTIONS IN THE US. WE WILL WIN (THE WAR? THINK ABOUT OUR VALUES AND THE ETHICS OF CHRISTIANITY THIS COUNTRY WAS BASED UPON).

We have to protect the sheep as he did with us!!!!!!!!

I do not think he would approve of partial birth abortions and the way thing are in this respect.

I am not a disadenct…if that “is” the correct word..but enough “is” enough.

Ok, Sadam is out. His mass killings are over. Did you ever stop to think that his mass killings were analgonis to “the partial birth abortion” ethics of the US?

I have to say I am damned proud of my hearldry and my education. I do find it extremely upsetting to allow the United States to send our troups to a country to stop mass murdering when we allow babies to be “birthed first” and then to puncture their heads to cause them immediate death. Something is seriously wrong with the situation.

Oh it goes back generations. If you are perhaps lucky enough to be born into a family that has values via the “grace of god” and are allowed to have your child, despite societal pressures; which includes everything from parents, church, school, etc. …well then, CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

There is an element of responsibiltiy which is inherantly bestowed upon the woman. That is to be sober while pregnant and be a good woman. This does not however, in my heart, expose the circumstances underwhich I was living and dealig with of my irresponsible parents. Decision was made at that time by my mother, after having being played like a virtual ping-pong ball between them for “the responsibilty” and I wound up being forced to endure labor and the death of my child. Again, it had already been outlawed (I am very sure by the conversation that I was privvy to at MY MOTHER’s gyno who gave her a name…blah, blah, blah.)

So, at the age of sixteen I had lost my love, child and he got into an auto accident shortly afterwards and went into a coma. Wow. Isn’t that a true ’statement from God’????

He did come out of the coma and did manage to live independtly until my dad confronted him in late January of 1985 which caused him to go into a seizure and envitallby was left for dead (again, there are numerous autopsy protocol reports that are not adding up. I have kept my mouth shut for eithteen years and now “I” want some answers and accountalbity.

My dad is the only child, very wealth, a thief, an abuser, an druken doping slob. I know he had something to do with Michael Anderson’s death.

Anyway, enough. This US of A will only get stronger and heal if “we” look to ourselves and our moral issues and values. I believe that Bush (jr) has this in the forefront of his mind of every step he takes in leading this nation.

We just have to look back, not forget how this great nation was founded but multitask by keeping a keen sight upon what we want for our future.

I have gripes about the national securtity issue but it IS NOT THE TIME TO BE AN ARM CHAIR QUARTERBACK.

WE HAVE TO FOLLOW ONE COACH. ONE LEADER. PLAIN AND SIMPLE. HE ‘WILL’ GET U.S. THROUGH THIS. I TRULY BELIEVE THIS. IT CHILLS ME TO THE BONE TO SAY AND REALIZE THIS BUT ‘IT IS’ TRUE!!!!

Some people agree with this war. While not popular (a war never is) and it’s so sad to see any loss of our military heros and any harm and death inflicted on innocent people, it becomes neccesary to stop a rolling and approaching danger.

I’m with Hank! Bush isn’t calling anybody a traitor. But if you’re against the war that’s perfectly fine. It doesn’t matter the reason. Most people against the war are because of political purposes.

Although I have mix feelings about the War, I still think it was the right thing to do and I think we should continue and if the Generals say they need more troops, then more troops should be sent.

I’m not looking at the war in a political lense. I took a hard look at it for these past years and given to what I know, it was the right thing to do regardless of 9/11, Bin Laden and the Taliban.

ah the ramblings of a mad woman. Can you possibly write something intelligible?

I’m not saying that to be mean, I’m saying that because it took me reading it four times to just get an idea of what you were trying to say.

Much like many of the christian fascists who think their way is the only way to run this country, dictate everyone else’s lives.

That ideology is just as dangerous as the (real) terrorists we were supposed to be at war with.

Joe,I am seriously asking because I don’t understand how anyone can see this war as something that should have happened. I agree that we needed to respond when Bin Laden hit us. Maybe we should have responded sooner when the embassies were bombed and the USS Cole was hit. What I can’t wrap my brain around is how we got from Afganistan to Iraq. I see the lies that got us there and the mess we now have with very little hope of fixing it. I lived through Vietnam and I had hoped that we learned our lesson from that. I think most of the country did but those folks in power right now didn’t. You are young and I don’t know if you have any kids but I don’t want your kids to have to go through what mine are right now unless there is a valid reason to. I’m asking, what do you see that I don’t?Hank,GW may not have used the word “traitor” but in many of his speeches he has said that those who disagreed with his way of handling this mess is aiding the enemy with the dissent. To me that is the same as calling me a traitor. I would do anything to help the soldiers except keep my opinions to myself.

Many generals said more troops would not make a difference. Bush found one who thought differently.

    Are americans Getting Screwed?

Until some diplomatic process is put in place and Iraq is given chance at rebuild no one is going to get much oil without a constant supply of USA troops in the area. The oil belongs to Iraq. Why can’t all understand we should be buying it not having wars over it. What americans and others do not understand is Bush and all those who said yes to invasion may have screwed the USA on oil pricing.Do we want to spend billions upon billions on military security for oil? How is that a good use of tax dollars? So oil giants can go on posting huge profits? Hey folks we are are getting screwed. We put our tax dollars and family members on death row all for huge oil profits.

Would it not be best to get along with far less oil/gasoline than to constantly have lives being wasted?
