“I accept this oath of office to serve a second term as your governor with profound pride in our state, with an unwavering belief in its citizens and with an unbridled hope for what’s to come,” Gov. Kathleen Sebelius said during her inaugural address this morning on the south steps of the Statehouse. As most politicians do after they’ve been re-elected, Sebelius also called for unity. “Only a failure to act as ‘One Kansas’ can compromise our future and dash our hopes,” she said. But will lawmakers and the governor really “come together around a shared vision of our state,” when many Republicans can’t even get along?

Let’s hope Sebelius develops decent energy and water policies.
“Only a failure to act as ‘One Kansas’ can compromise our future and dash our hopes,”
…reminds me of something…hmmm
oh yeah!
Sieg Heil!

Hehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehe
(deep breath)
heheheheheheheheheheheheheheheheheh
One Kansas. That’s a good one.
As long as it is the ONE Kansas big ag and big donors choose.
heheheheheheheheheheheheheheheh
(wiping tears)
That’s a GOOD one!
Sebelius is a joke. Too bad we couldn’t beat her last year. I guess $5million can buy you anything these days. But it can’t buy you leadership and integrity, two attributes Seblius lacks.
Please, CM, Sebelius is wildly popular because she does a fabulous job. Republicans leadership (haha) and integrity (HAAAAAA) is something Americans are sick to death of.
Give us honest newspapers and see what happens.
Kansas, as corrupt as you think it is.
Mr. Ben, which of the national newspapers do you consider to be honest?
NY Times or Post?
Washington Post or Times?
Wall Street Journal?
LA Times?
USA Today? (haha)
If I had it my way we’d all be the same. If we were not, then “my” government would step in and make us all the same. I just love Communism, don’t you?
It’s the Gov who needs to come around to what the state wants. She’s the one who vetoed conceal/carry and clean “health clinics”. She’s the one who wants to dump our money down the Rat Hole that is Pubic Edukation.
Disappointed by the lack of substance in Sebelius’ inaugural speech? Just wait for the State of the State speech for Part II of her “Platitudes Not Plans” tour.
heh Roscoe, you may have well coined a new phrase that describes Sebelius talking points perfectly.
“Platitudes Not Plans tour.” heh
I don’t know why you get mad at the Gov Fleet, she has never met a Republican she didn’t want to run with.
Sebelius’ dress was HORRIBLY out of style and inappropriate for someone of her age. It looked like a bad 80s prom dress
Hauber, funny you said a prom dress. Raubin and Megan on WIBW 580 AM in Topeka (http://www.raubinandmegan.com/ ) commented right after Sebelius’ inaugural speech that it was much like a speech made at a high school graduation commencement, and even wondered if she had recycled it.
“Sebelius is a joke. Too bad we couldn’t beat her last year.”
Gosh, could that be because you ran even BIGGER jokes than sebelius?
See what pulling the wingnut lever and playing to the kansas taliban will get ya?
Another four years of governor leadership.
She could have been beaten, just not by the asshats at the top of the R ticket.
An excellent national healthcare system = new employment for americans
A national or state healthcare insurance program would produce economic growth across the nation or state. New industry would certainly be taking a look at the good old USA once again.
There is plenty of fraud within the current system for which the Sen Bill Frist family took in billions before they were caught.Of course tax dollars would be used to fund it as it is now to some degree. Average cost now for family coverage is $11,000 – $12,000 with premium costs on the increase or co-pay increased covering fewer services.
The services most being discussed is the same as today with only the change being who pays the bills. There are many many employed people who cannot afford health insuranceyet who still need and use services. It stands to reason office calls etc etc will increase to cover the costs of those who cannot afford to pay thus increases somehow across the board.
Considering all employed, which is far greater than than the number of unemployed, will be paying into the fundshould actually reduce the amount paid by everyone. Bottom line more are paying for the services rendered. Not only that it should reduce cost of prescriptions because of buying power.
Who are the most against it? Health insurance and pharmaceutical industry who will say anything including “socialized medicine” that which it is not because taxpayers/patients are footing the bill. The two industries mentioned above also throw big bucks into politcal campaigns at state and federal levels.
Gov. Sebelius and Comm. Sandy Praeger know30% of medical expense is due to forms generated by so many insurance companies aka paper work. Not to mention trying to keep up with who will pay for what. One medical card + identical forms across the states = reduced cost almost immediately. Give these bright women some credit.
