Republicans are having some fun noting how the Democrats’ definition of "100 hours" keeps changing. Originally, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., seemed to define the time it would take for Democrats to act on their top agenda items in terms of clock hours. Then she said it was the first 100 legislative hours. Now, Democrats apparently are counting only the hours spent dealing with their agenda items. As a result, as of last Friday, fewer than 24 of the 56 hours that Congress had been in session was counted toward the 100 hours, Associated Press reported. Still, Republican die-hards likely aren’t laughing about how the agenda bills keep passing, and often with the support of Republicans (and with broad public support).

Maybe the Democrats will finally solve the age old argument about the seven days to create the heavens and earth by regulating a time scale that will cohere to Biblical chronological scaling. :)
Sounds a bit like the time scale the Kansas legislature uses in determining a “day” in session.
How suprising that the Republicans can criticize the Democrats on how they count their hours when for the past 12 years of Republican control, nothing ever got done and this past Congress was the worst one ever.
But leave it to the Republicans to find something else to complain about. They had their turn and they were too busy chasing male interns, loading up with the lobbyists money, chasing their mistresses or whatever else they were doing besides the people’s work.
Too bad, so sad. In the Republicans’ own words – GET OVER IT.
You have the House, but how many of them will pass the Senate?
The Congress is in Democrat control for 2 years and if they keep going to the center to pass their social legislation, the voters will determine if the Senate goes along or not.
And I’m willing to bet that there will more Republicans deciding to compromise with the Democrats than to fight based on the last election results – and especially if George W. Bushs keeps doing his ‘own’ thing despite what Congress says.
Bush is not the best poster boy for the GOP right now.
“the agenda bills keep passing, and often with the support of Republicans (and with broad public support).”
Yes cs, it is already happening. Bi-partisanship will be Dems + moderate Republicans against the old-line partisan BushBots.
Did the previous congress even put in 100 hours per yr.?
Steve – I think Mark Foley put in at least 100 hours but it wasn’t for the business of Congress. I think maybe Tom DeLay put in more than 100 hours but, then again, it was not for the business of Congress. Seems like the Republicans were busy doing something during the last Congress but it sure wasn’t for the business of the people.
But you know what, it did get the Republicans booted out of office so whatever they were doing it was being up to no good.
Look, I’m not going to tell Republicans to “get over it,” because, frankly, I didn’t like it when they said it to us.
Bit it does seem that the party of “what’s you’re plan?” is offering a whole lot of complaints instead of a plan. “They’re moving too fast on issues important to the American people” hardly seems like a plan to me.
So far they have been busy in Washington

Republicans are just upset they no longer have a three day work week and must work like real Americans. Of course it meant 100 Congressional hours unless someone actually thought the Democrats would work 24/7 for the first 100 hours.
Why is this even an issue?
RLewis – where did you get that info?
It’s the usual con thing Doug.
