Inquiring Kansans don’t want campaign spam

The Kansas Governmental Ethics Commission concludedWednesday that it wasn’t illegal for then-Attorney General Phill Kline to harvest e-mail addresses from the office computer and then use them to solicit campaign support. That matches what the commission’s executive director said last fall — and it’s not surprising, given how dated Kansas’ campaign-finance law is. But that doesn’t make the practice right. As state Rep. Tom Sawyer, D-Wichita, said: "It’s just wrong, if it technically violates the law or not. If it doesn’t technically violate the law, we need to change the law."
Kansans who seek information from state agencies should not have to worry that they are inviting campaign spam. Legislators should fix this.

    LOL Mrs. Big Mac…that’s funny.

I’ll bet she thinks God wanted Phill Kline to have those email addresses.

So if Phill Kline can legally get my email address from me inquiring from the AG office about something totally unrelated to abortion and he sends me an email for his campaign promoting his anti-abortion stance, can I reply to his email with a big fat f— off? Or would that be considered indecent and obscene?

I am not here to defend Philllll, but I do like to slam the Lib newspaper. This just as easily could have been Headlined:”Philllll Kline found Not Guilty by the ethics panel, did nothing illegal”.It’s not his fault that the lawmakers didn’t do their job.

Only 4 posts in more than 6 hours.

    Phill is a dead story.

Time to stop beating him, I guess. We’re gonna miss ya, Phill.

I guess they can email campaign material to me if they want. I have mailwasher and I’ll just bounce it. Just takes one click.

It didn’t bother Holman when Nola lied about whether Kline consulted with her, or the fact that she continues to ignore the evidence of 30 crimes in Wichita and it didn’t bother the Eagle when an armed guard at Tiller’s abortuary allegedly vandalized a nativity scene and stole a couple of the figurines, and then it hasn’t bothered The Eagle that the city attorney hasn’t prosecuted the guard, but this bothers her.

Rhonda, you are indeed a bigot and Kline hater of the first rank.

The writer above is right on target, this hateful rag can’t stop bashing at any Christian candidate for office.

I wonder why he found it necessary to fire 8 district attorneys the day he took office? I think he’s relly got the God complex or something.

Inquiring minds would like an honest newspaper that committed acts of journalism. Instead they get an uninquiring rag that simply parrots the latest left-wing mantra.

And don’t feel sorry for johnson county. At least there they’ll enforce the laws regardless of who breaks them. What does Wichita have? Nola, the goof city attorney and Tiller and his staff are above the law in both.

If you’re paper’s not honest, neither are your politicians.

If Operation Rescue really has evidence that Dr. Tiller is doing illegal abortions, then present it to the media for full disclosure.

I have asked several OR people why they do not send in a hidden camera and videotape Tiller, like Dateline does. And to date, I hear no reply from anyone in Operation Rescue.

Why? Is it because they cannot find any evidence against Tiller? So Phill Kline drums up 30 misdemeanor charges against the man and then Kline looks like the fool? Come on, with all the millions of tax free money that OR gets – you guys cannot come up with something more concrete than Phill Kline?

The way to put Tiller out of business is by attacking the reasons for abortion. Work on those social issues and then Tiller’s clinic will be obsolete.
