How many consultants are too many?

Sedgwick County Commissioner Gwen Welshimer recently said that local citizens are "sick of consultants." I think she’s right. But how many consultants are too many? I try to answer that question in my column today, by "hiring" a consultant.

A priest, a rabbi and a consultant were traveling on an airplane.

There was a crisis and it was clear that the plane was going to crash and they would all be killed.

The priest began to pray and finger his rosary beads. The rabbi began to read the Torah.

The consultant began to organize a committee on air traffic safety.

    A comment about this op/ed:

“If you have more wrting like this in you, I believe we may have someone to replace Art Buchwald.”Posted by: Ed”

Deserved high praise, I would say.

    Good column Randy!

Wish I’d had the chance to visit more with you.

Consultants and their family get togethers (study groups) are a feel good way to look like you are attempting to be informed about something you have no intention of acting on.

Randy really should stick to satire. With some practice he could be another Dave Berry.

I’m just wondering if his other columns were just satire. It would explain a lot.

Consultants are a politicians way of shifting the blame for whatever decisions he makes.

What we need is a consultant to study the consultant to study the consultant looking in to this issue. Then we can appoint an exploratory committee to determine whether we need to hire a consultant to determine if we need the exploratory committee to issue a non binding resolution regarding the excessive use of consultants.

Gwen sent out a questionaire with questions on a lot of things. I didn’t get one, but one of my daughters did.

    Anybody else get one?
