Come one, come all (even Ian) to the WE Blog meet-up this Thursday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at The Eagle building. We’re located at 825 E. Douglas, across the street from Old Town. Parking and the building entrance are in the back (off Rock Island). We’ll provide snacks and nonalcoholic beverages (sorry), and we’ll do a short Eagle tour for anyone interested. Plus, as an added attraction, Brent Castillo (aka Values Boy) will be there. It should be a fun time visiting and putting faces with blog names. Hope to see you there.

Thanks for the opportunity to share the photo. I had thought about taking it in your absence, but thought I should not.
I think the real reason the wife doesn’t want you to go to the meet-up is her concern that some of those Wichita (and surronding area) women might want to take you home.
All the ladies will be gnashing their teeth when they see what they missed. I kid you not, Tracy is about 10 years older than me, but in the photo he looks 10 years younger.
I’ll have the evidence, his bragging is fact.
Depending on kid’s health (fighting the sniffles currently) Mountain Man and I plan on attending.
Grey’s will rerun the episode airing that night. :)

Throw in some anecdotes about being blinded by the “decorative” columns on Maclean st, peeing in the street in Old Town and side-swiping the perpetual construction barrels on Kellogg, and you have a million dollar story :)

I will try to be there, love to meet Pmom. glad you made the jump from that other mad house! Now there would only be Glynn to meet, my two favorite people from the board and often the one I can have a intelligent discussion with. Meet up with those that I am so impress with in the past meet-ups and to finally meet those I have not met as of yet.
Even Ian, he does on some occasions have a valid points hidden with in the racist rants. And “Value boy” as misguided as he maybe in what he sees as his mission from God. Though I am sure he means well, if the mission of a Christian is to teach others of God’s love. Between union meetings and overtime, I’m gonna sit this out. The only thing that is always interesting is that given the advantages of body language and eye contact, people are generally more pleasant and civil in close quarters than they are on the internet. Blogs and forums are grottoes and niches perfect for the passive-aggressive. It’s ‘behind your back’ and ‘to your face’ all at the same time.

Maybe you are onto the psychology of flaming and trolling. It would be an interesting thesis to research. There’s enough psychobabble junk out there, but what motivates people to do what they do via this venue would be interesting, IMHO.
What has been troubling me most recently is that posters will say things about racial heritage (likely most of us would have similar heritages in America) and then somebody else will make disparaging racially tinged comments about the poster. Another example would be a poster is having a hard time financially, and then some comment about the posters lack of character is added into the next ad hominem attack.
It is very unfortunate. I have seen other blogs where if a posters says something as innocuous as “I feel sorry for you…” and the monitors there shut down the blog. That seems a little draconian to me. I’m sure it is difficult to find the right balance between too little and too much moderation.
Anyway, I’m blathering on – so I’ll stop.

Sheesh, have you compared the distances? I thought about jokingly suggesting Tucson as a midpoint, so I checked–but it’s not even close! Compared to Honolulu, Tucson is walking distance.
Oh, and, Tara? If memory serves, we tried that once. . . ;) But I wouldn’t feel much like partying immediately after a long flight either! Yeah, yeah, I know, and the prospect of Ian too. . .
