Brownback didn’t seem to have much fun on Fox

Kansas Sen. Sam Brownback got a surprising workout on “Fox News Sunday,” with host Chris Wallace pressing the conservative hard on his stand on the Iraq troop surge, his claim to be the “only tried and true social conservative seeking the Republican Party’s nomination,” and his view of rival Mitt Romney’s Mormonism. He seemed to want to boil down his nuanced opposition to the troop surge and his vote to confirm Lt. Gen. David Petraeus as the new commander in Iraq to one idea: “We can and we will win in Iraq if we can just pull together.”
Brownback dodged the question about whether Romney is a true Christian but said his Mormonism shouldn’t be an issue: “I don’t think it should be. We don’t have a religious test in this country for public office.”

First Brownback wants a theocracy where the nation is headed by a few Christians, then he doesn’t want a religious test for office. Flip flopper!

Brownback’s not going to get very far, anyway, so time spent discussing him is probably wasted. Then again – all blogging time is probably a waste of time.

Fundamental Christians don’t like Mormons. Mormons don’t like Jehovah’s Witnesses, Jehovah’s Witnesses don’t like the RCC and the RCC is still anti-Semitic, just ask nutso Mel Gibson and his Opus Dei leanings. barf

Any person with ANY fundamental belief in ANY denomination or religion should send up a red flag. A big one!

On the flip side – I sincerely doubt the majority of Americans, whether they are persons of faith, or not, would not elect an out-of-the-closet atheist.

We prefer our politicians to at least have the decency to lie and mention God’s name every now and again. And thankfully, lying is right up their alley and they usually oblige.

Mitt Romney would get a lot of support from fellow Mormons.

Jehovah’s Witnesses don’t vote and do consider all other religions as false NO tolerance.

Does anyone else notice that Rhonda baby never slams at her liberal pals? In fact no one at The Eagle does.

That’s one of the reasons Wichita’s legal system is as corrupt as it is.

    Corrupt newspaper, corrupt politicians.

Ok Sam, I agree there is no religious test for public office; but why do you think there is an anti-abortion test?We win in Iraq? Who is the ‘we’ you speak of; ‘We’ as in Republicans? That would be you and Bush? Sam, how many dead American soliders does it take to make a win?

I have commented this in one article so I will comment this here too.

Most people have no respect of a person’s individuality. How many of you understand what it is about in being an individual? That is one of the problems of religion, it does not matter what religion it is.They all expect you to become one entity with that religion.

For those who do not know what the word individualism is, here is the definition –

In-di-vid-u-al-ism:1. a. Belief in the primary importance of the individual and in the virtues of self-reliance and personal independence. b. Acts or an act based on this belief.2. A doctrine advocating freedom from government regulation in the pursuit of a person’s economic or social goals.3. The doctrine that the interests of the individual should take precedence over the interests of the state or social group.4. a. The quality of being an individual; individuality. b. An individual characteristic; a quirk.

Mormon’s don’t like Jehovah’s Witnesses? The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has nothing against the JW’s or anyone else for that matter. While we have doctrinal differences with tradional Christianity the Witnesses are not singled out. It has nothing to do with not liking people or wishing them or their organization ill. And it is inaccurate to say so.
