Art imitates Opinion Line

One of our “Best of Opinion Line” comments this year was “Is the man I saw urinating at the corner of Broadway and Waterman the other morning classified as a street performer?” That reminded a reader of this old New Yorker cartoon. The first dog says, “What I do as an artist is to take an ordinary object — say, a lamppost — and by urinating on it, transform it to something that is uniquely my own.”

Hmmm….art, how about the show “My Name is Earl.” I have a hunch that the characters on this show are representative of the opinion line demographic, just a hunch. Other contenders, “Deliverance”, “Hee Haw”, and “Jerry Springer.”

Actually many contributers are pretty clever. I always enjoying reading them, the stupid ones always let me start off my day with a good laugh…it’s great therapy.

I think Opinion Line is refreshingly honest, and I enjoy reading it. It’s just not the lib – fag circle jerk you all feature over on this side of the lifeboat. And best of all, it’s not an amen corner for the pretentious douchebags that write editorials in the Eagle.
