So many blogs, so few readers

I’m not a regular reader of the New York Times’ political blog The Caucus, but it recently yielded an interesting bit of data about the blog phenomenon in general.
Eric Schmidt, the chief executive officer of Google, said his company calculates that a new blog is being created every second of every day. He said Google now estimates that the average blog is read by one person. One. No word on whether that includes the person writing it.

    Sounds like KSMeadowlark’s blog.

Wow! That one person must have a lot of free time to read all those new blogs!

Give that it averages out, and we seem to have at least several readers here, there must be a lot of poor blogs out there with no readers at all! We all need to get busy and read some of these before corporate blogs (like this one) end up taking over all the venues for opinion!

This one gets posters and readers because it’s advertised in the Eagle paper everyday and it is very active.

Plus the Editorial Writers get paid to do it. ;)

I actually have a blog up, but haven’t done anything to it for a long time. That probably accounts for 95% of them.

    Hey Editors

It’s been a while since you editors updated us on our hits.

I know they have to be up again. We have many good new progressive posters. And the right has picked up a few new bushbots.

Howsabout a seasonal party for us bloggers?

Suspect you are correct Joe. Want to provide a link to your blog?

I would concur on the request for a blogger meet up. There are plenty of new people I’d like to meet.

I agree Steven. One thing I remember from the first one hank put togather is that he, Nathan, someone else and I had very interesting discussion about nuclear power – and mostly agreeing! Sometimes we lose sight of the fact that in many ways many of us want the same thing – our country safe and prosperous for example – just we disagree on how to get there. When discussing it face-to-face with a burger in one hand and a pop in the other we see our similarities.

Yes, Ben. I recall the same thing.

I hope the Editors could have another get-together at the Eagle. I was out of town when they did the meet up there.
