In a commentary rounding up the players on the Democrats’ new bench, especially among its governors, Dotty Lynch of CBSNews.com sees a connection between what Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., and Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius end up doing in 2008. Lynch’s take, in part: “As the daughter of former Ohio Gov. John Gilligan, Sebelius has a number of friends in national politics. If Hillary Clinton hesitates or falters, Sebelius’ name is sure to crop up as a strong contender for the No. 2 slot.”

Personally, I would love to see an Obama/Sebelius ticket for 2008, and I think they could win the hearts of a lot of people who do not like Hilary.
It would be bold, but first thought it did not strike me as bad Janet
Janet: Whatever you’re having, Janet, bring me a double ! You have got to be kidding !
Obama has very little experience. We don’t need a celebrity president, we need one who can lead. Sebelius would be a great number 2, but not with Obama.
I agree! Obama needs leadership experience and being a Senator isn’t that.
Vilsack just threw his hat in. Although I don’t know much about Vilsack, other than being the Iowa Governor, you get two governors from the Mid-West and you got yourself a real race.
you need a governor from the midwest and someone from the south.
you need a governor from the midwest and someone from the south.
I don’t think we need the GOP flack Rhonda Holman to help us pick our nominee.
Sebelius is…..well what is she? She’s not a Democrat. She’s not a Republican. She’s so damned wishy washy she could not even be classified as a moderate. She does not get my vote.
Al Gore is the man. Let’s get it right this time.
I would hope that Obama or Sebilius or Gore would be chosen to run in ‘08.I will do everything in my limited power to help make that happen.
The truth is we won’t know who gets the nom till Iowa and NH. No one saw Kerry coming…
pmom-I hope you get your wish. Except for the Sebilius part.
I, too, hope the dems are dumb enough to nominate Hillary and OsamaObama in ‘08. That would guarantee a GOP victory.
I’d rather see Sebelius in the Senate. No Gore, no Kerry. Yes Hillary, yes Obama.
Great, so we could have 4 years of inaction just like her last term as Governor in Kansas. Maybe she’d could refinance our national debt like she did the State debt; get us a better rate and promise that our grandchildrens children will pay it off.
That aside, I don’t see this as a strong possibility, but I don’t see it as an all together bad idea either.

pm, I think Sebelius is in terrific position to run for the 2008 Senate race, and she’ll win. Roberts screwed himself by running interference for the Cheney-Bush-Rumsfeld administration chairing the Intelligence Committee. I mean, he won’t be hurt personally, because he’ll get a nice golden parachute, but politically his Senate career will be over if he is challenged by Mrs. Sebelius, which I believe is going to happen.
Sebelius is a fine governor, balancing the right-wingers on the Lege. She would make a good Senator, but she should wait until she completes her current term as Gov to run.
My concern with Hillary is that she may not be electable. The right will go absolutely nuts if she gets the Dem nomination in ‘08. They have already started on her.
Above all else, the Democrats have to nominate someone that can win the general election. Kerry has zero chance and that is how it should be. Vilsack has zero chance. Bayh has zero chance. The Democrats have to be realistic this time around.
Gore is an interesting possibility, but he has said that he definitely is not going to run.
Gen. Wesley Clark is an interesting possibility, but I don’t think that he is right for the top job. John Edwards is also interesting, but the Kerry connection could be a drag on his candidacy.
Despite the Republicans that have already started playing with his name, my choice is Obama. He is electable in my view and would make an excellent president. His lack of experience is of small concern. Experience counts, but not nearly as much as an ability to bring the country together after eight years of Bush, the Sequel and eight years of Clinton bashing by the right.
My choice for 2008 – Obama/Clark.
Oh, yeah, and not THIS Clark – I need a bulldozer to keep all my skeletons in the closet.
I’m not giving up on Hillary yet. She’s moderate no matter how much the right tries to demonize her, she always comes out on top. She has her husband’s supporters, which are vast, and she’s still a big fundraiser. Her ideas are good, just like when she tried to address the healthcare crisis back in the 90’s before it became the mess that it is now. Perhaps if repubs had listened to her we would’nt be in this mess.
I don’t care if neocons hate her, that’s why I love her. And if they could get dubya elected, surely we can get Hillary elected. I see our world being so much better under another Clinton.
I still like Edwards and I like Obama. Calling him Osama is just awful, but I wouldn’t expect anything less from a republiCON.
Clark, ok. Kinda.
History shows us that ex-generals don’t always make the best presidents. Still, I’d listen to his suggestions.
That’s my choice too.Obama/Clark in ‘08!!I hope we get our wish.
If there was ever a moderate proposal, it was Nationalized Health Care. Hillary in ‘08!!
Can a Muslim, posing as a Christian, named Barack Hussein Obama really be president of this once great country?
Yes! Obama in ‘08!
Say what “Tom”? Your bigotry is showing. Any evidence to back up your bogus claim?
“Can a Muslim, posing as a Christian, named Barack Hussein Obama really be president of this once great country?”
What a stupid post – really – that is one of the all time great displays of idiocy.
Not that he needs my help, but Obama has always been a Christian – not that I care – his mother is from Kansas and his father is from Kenya, hence the name.
What a stupid post……..
Go back to sleep, Fleet.
Romerine, you’re just wrong. Don’t you dare use the name of a great leader like Thomas Jefferson to put forth your hateful agenda. Jefferson believed in Separation of Church and State if you forgot- it’s his words that came up with it.
Just further shows how hateful the Christian right is. They don’t even accept people born and raised Christian if their background is slightly different. What’s wrong, Pat Robertson’s pedigree test wasn’t passed?
Fleets enema you got your wish with Bush and his buddies, and your wish come true has ruined the country. Don’t you think maybe you should quit now? Rethink your ideals since they failed so miserably?
“Osama Obama” <— first coined by that republiCON of all republicans… Ted Kennedy
“failed so miserably”
Economy: strongHome ownership: all-time highBLACK home ownership: all-time highInterest rates: historically lowUnemployment: very lowWages: strong and growingTaxes: reducedDeficit: Lower than expected due to revenue exceeding projections.Consumer confidence: high
Sure, the libs will probably dispute every one of these: “oh yeah, well the economy sucks in my town” – tell that to one of the 4000 Spirit machinists. =)
And, if you think America will elect someone with a middle-eastern sounding name like Obama…
PMom: I’d certainly rather see Obama than Sebelius, but I’d campaign for her if she and Billary were the only choices. But, frankly, I don’t think Sebelius or Obama have a snowball’s chance in hell, if for no other reason, money. In the mid ’60’s, I told one of my closest friends that I really hoped that we could both live long enough to someday to vote “for” somebody because we really believed in him/her, not because we couldn’t tolerate the other son-of-a-bitch. He reminded me of that on the phone the other night, and sadly, all we could say is that “neither of us is dead yet”.
