In its year-ending “Who’s Next” feature, Newsweek counts Gov. Kathleen Sebelius among 21 people worth watching in 2007, calling her a “pro-business, pro-military, pro-choice, fiscal conservative” who “has emerged as the dean of a new breed of Democrats taking over what was once reliably red terrain.” In the piece, which says she “helped revive the bankrupt school system,” Sebelius says: “Kansans are pragmatic. Results trump labels.” Fill in Kansas Republican response of your choice here.

Sebelius combines the worst aspects of corporate cronyism with the worst aspects of cultural marxism. The only only reason the wetback loving, gun hating hag got elected was because the repukes couldn’t field a decent candidate to run against her!
V.L.R.B!!
The Republicans ought to be looking at themselves in the mirror and pointing the finger at themselves, because their inability to come together is the reason we have Hillary of the Plains in the governor’s mansion!
Sebelius is nothing more than a left-wing pro-abortion, anti-gun, tax-and-spend liberal who will show her true colors now that she doesn’t have to worry about re-election…or wait, she’s now going to try to amend the state constitution so she can run again and again and again.
I would have voted for her if she would have supported concealed carry…
Fiscal Conservative??? BS BS BS.
The first thing she tried to do upon taking office was to raise every tax she could find.
People do have short memories, don’t they.
The Republican candidate for Kansas Governor in the November election, Dr. __________, (can’t remember his name) from Emporia, virtually threw the election by not getting out to meet Kansas voters. You have to wonder about that.
Jim Barnett was the challenger’s name. It was the Republican’s best kept secret that he was a viable candidate – he should have done better in the election. I have still yet to figure out why the Repubs wanted to defeat his chances by saddling him with Wagle. I guess ideological purity is more important than winning if you are a Kansas Republican.
A barometer of how serious the KS Republicans are about governing in the state will be when they throw out both Wagle and Landwehr. Until they do that one can assume that they are more interested in rhetoric than results.
So, you are saying that the repukes could/should only win if they become more like the demorats? Oy Vay!!
Viva la Raza Blanco!!
She’s one of the rare, but traditional Democrats out there. Since the Democrat party has been hijacked by radical leftist, it’s a sign of hope when Selebilus is doing the right thing for the State as a pro-business and pro-military Governor. A lesson for people who are Democrats. Start kicking the radical leftist out of your party. Let them form their own or go to the Socialist and Communist Party, instead of hijacking you and ruining your reputation.
Here’s something to consider…Fact: States with conseal and carry laws do not have less crime.
Fact: Illegal immigrants are here, and a solution must be addressed, that does not make one a “wetback lover” its called leadership in addressing tough issues.
Fact: Republicans in the white house bankrupted state budgets to the point all states either Republican or Democrat have no choice but to raise taxes.
Look at the bigger national picture folks, don’t get sucked into partizian rhetoric and let the facts speak for themselves.
One interesting phenomenon about the Governor is the derisive moniker of “Governor Leadership” that has been attached to her. Not by the Repubs or the right, but by the left who are obviously disappointed that she has not been an activist Governor like she was when she served in the KS house. Other than vetoing all pro life legislation and the workers comp bill she has done nothing for the progressive cause. Her part in settling the school finance problem was minimal at best. My guess is that her second term will be more of the same as she has her sights set on a Senate run or a Cabinet appointment in a Democrat administration.
She “helped revive the bankrupt school system.”
First, the school system wasn’t bankrupt, and second, she did very little in regards to school funding.
The magazine should change its name to “Fantasyland Newsweek.”
Sebelius is great. I am perplexed that gun rights gather so much interest. Buy a gun. You can. What is the big deal. Conceal and Carry…is weird but if the voters want it…and it proves to be harmless….then I am okay. What scares me are all the people who are so explosive about their desire to conceal and carry….I don’t want you to have a gun. You are a threat to everyone, well unless you point it at yourself, which would be okay by me.

Obviously Jim you were either too young or not politically tuned in during the first Clinton term. The Brady Bill, the assault weapons ban, Democats like Diane Fienstien and Charles Shumer openly proclaiming that the end of private gun ownership was at hand. There was a massive assault on the second amendment that ended only when the republicans took contol of Congress in 94. But don’t look for a repeat with the new Democrat Congress. As much as they would like to, they know that an attempt to ban guns would rally the republicans like nothing else could and result in their losing Congress again. Thats what the big deal is.

“Here’s something to consider…Fact: States with conseal and carry laws do not have less crime.”
NO violent crime went DOWN in states that passed doncealed carry. It in in the 2004 Crime statistics. Violent Crime is going up, but that is because of illegal aliens. Some 35% in jails are criminal illegal aliens.
“Fact: Illegal immigrants are here, and a solution must be addressed, that does not make one a “wetback lover” its called leadership in addressing tough issues.”
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Fact is that in 10 years there will be ore illegals in this country than there are legal Americans. That is right at the proposed levels passed by the US Senate the illegal alien and their offspring will produce 300 million in 20 years.
FACT: You have to close the border bdfore there is any amnesty or guest worker program because it will be a jail break at the border.
FACT Mexico has mitalarized their southern border because they cannot take the influx from South and Central American. 25,000 Mexican Troops have been sent to the border to stop illegal immigration into MEXICO. FACT!!!
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
“Fact: Republicans in the white house bankrupted state budgets to the point all states either Republican or Democrat have no choice but to raise taxes.”
That I Agree with! Our Republicans thought it was more necessary to take on social issues rather than be political conservatives. The Christian whackos in the Kansas Republican party need to just SHUT UP!
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
“Look at the bigger national picture folks, don’t get sucked into partizian rhetoric and let the facts speak for themselves.”
The facts state that the Illegal alien issue eroding ALL of our laws is THE national issue and has the greatest impact on natinal budgets and taxes than ANY other issue even Iraq. The southern border MUST BE SECURED.
You need to get your “FACTS” straight. “Beliefs” are NOT FACT!
This is why the Heat Ray is such a good idea :) Just scorch them at the border and send them packing…
Oh, it would ALSO probably help IF YOU STOPPED HIRING THEM TO DO THINGS LIKE CONSTRUCTION, YARD WORK and GARDENING!
People sit here and complain over and over again about the fact that Illegal Immigrants are taking over….well guess what? If there was no incentive for them to come up here, they would stop FLOODING across the border!
If the apartment landlord rents out a one-bedroom apartment to 12 people and they all work jobs illegally for however many companies here in the area, who’s really to blame?
Quit pointing political fingers and open your eyes to the real problem.
It’s starts with just one.

I second the “beliefs are not facts” comment :)
~Dubyahttp://wichitavoice.com/blog/
Use the heat ray thing first, then when the troops get back from Iraq, send em to the border with orders to shoot anything that crosses into our territory.
Problem solved.
The freakin company that was contracted to build the almighty fence just got fined. Guess for what
HAHAHAHHAHAHA
Hiring illegals
HAHAHAHAHHAHAHA
Ain’t America Grand????

Liberal opposition to Concealed Carry legislation reminds me of Br’er Rabbit begging Br’er Bear, “Please, please, please! DON’T throw me into the briar patch!”
And the NRA, far from being the “constitutional rights” it claims to be, has exposed itself as a mere marketing arm of handgun manufacturers.
Most states’ CC laws mandate a background check, proof of competence, proof of identity (fingerprints and/or DNA) and periodic renewal. As with all licenses and permits, this procedure (aggressively promoted by the NRA) reduces the *right* to keep and bear arms to a state-controlled privilege. If you apply for a CC permit, (even if you’re *denied* a permit!) the government knows who and where you are.
Back when the NRA claimed it was defending constitutional rights, it opposed governmental data banks that kept track of firearms owners. But when it became an opportunity to sell more handguns, the NRA reversed itself 180-degrees and advocated such governmental tracking of gun owners. The vast majority of CC applicants own more than one gun. By pushing CC laws, the NRA has been instrumental in establishing the very governmental registry of gun owners it used to oppose.
What’s that knock at your door?

SV where in the world did you get your facts? You might want to change sources. They are dead wrong. The above link quotes some interesting statistics, these are proven facts, that support the conceal carry law. I personally don’t own a gun but want the right to own one if I choose. If criminals are armed we should be able to protect ourselves. On immigration, when did a majority of people breaking laws do away with the law. Enforce them. We need to stop being a nation of sheep, thinking that we have to be tolerant of everyone no matter what they do. It is time to take back our nation and make it again a nation of laws.
