Saddam rethinks the hate thing

Nothing like the prospect of imminent death to change one’s outlook. In the case of Saddam Hussein, it’s made the Butcher of Baghdad start sounding like Mahatma Gandhi.
A day after an Iraqi appeals court upheld his death sentence and ordered him hanged sooner rather than later, a farewell letter from Saddam was posted on the Baath party’s Web site, urging Iraqis “not to hate.”
“Hate does not leave space for a person to be fair and it makes you blind and closes all doors of thinking,” the letter said.
Meanwhile, some Saddam loyalists — apparently unmoved by his message — are threatening to avenge his execution by hitting U.S. interests everywhere.

I noticed in the same letter that Saddam instructed all Iraqis not to blame the people of the U.S. and to know it is the leaders who cause the greatest problems and threats.

Doesn’t sound like he’s as nuts as many like to say he is.

So how’s that “stopping terrorism” thing working out?

When we create more than we kill, not so good apparently.

In a way, you have to feel for this guy.

He is sorta like the other woman in a relationship.

The United States sought him out, built a relationship with him. (He and Rumsfeld even hugged!) The US used him when it was convenient and then tossed him aside.

Was he a brutal murdering thug? Yup. That’s just what we wanted him for.

So true JR. And, from the way things are looking now, we will replace him with another murdering thug.

But his message of hate is so true. Hate does close all doors to thinking and makes one blind. But hate doesn’t just apply to the terrorists.

And I know I’m going to be jumped on here but I’m going to go ahead and say it.

When there are groups of people that spout the theory there is no such thing as a moderate and there is no middle ground (I’m talking about Bill O’Reilly), then these groups are formulated by hate also. Unfortunately, these groups have Talk Radio 24/7 and are drowned in this sheeple-talk until there is no free thinking. Just because this group doesn’t carry guns does not make their hate any less real.

I think we as Americans need to take a look in the mirror and see exactly what is going on and why.

Exactly. So if you’re not living in Yoder or Pennsylvania Amish country, how about a nice glass of shut the hell up on everything to do with this war for oil garbage?

Until it is proven to be wrong, then the war for oil theory is just that – a theory.

Why does that bother you so much? Could be that down deep you think it might just be true?

    …so….Saddam repents and renounced hate….

And we can expect the evangelicals and the Kansas voters to do the same, uh, when?

Saddam. More moral standing now than most of the gay hating religious right.

At least HE admits the error of his ways.

The right? Eh… not so much…..

Actually, Ksfarmgrrl, the Evangelical Christians believe if a person repents and accepts Jesus as their savior, that person is saved and will go to Heaven. Just imagine that, Saddam and the Evangelicals in the same Heaven. Who knows, stranger things have happened.

Yeah, but I thought the key word was “repent”.

I havent seen much of that from the hate addicted religious right.

Again, we can expect them to follow saddam’s lead, uh, when?

I dont think you will see saddam and the evangelicals in the same room in heaven.

Until they repent? I think he’ll have the place pretty much to himself.

    Still waiting…..

I agree ksfrmgrrl, the Religious Right is hate-filled when it comes to their irrational fear of homosexuals. I was just merely pointing out that within their own religious beliefs that Saddam could actually wind up next to them in their own Heaven.

Actually, I believe that hate is the most destructive emotion there is on Earth. I am appalled that the true Christians have allowed these Religious Righties to overpower the label of Christian. Hate is hate no matter if you wrap it up in God, the Bible and Democracy.

There is enough hate to go around in this world and as for hate of homosexuals, I don’t see any hate coming from the left on that issue. All the hate is coming from the Christian conservatives in that arena. So however you want to try to spin it, Mr Kia, the Christian Conservatives started this war on homosexuals.

For arguments sake, you and yours are right. This is a war all about oil.All of our use of fossil fuels finances the war effort against our troops. Whether it’s driving your car or heating your home. You can be against anything as you want, but if you consume you are part of the problem. Some of you have a holier than thou attitude about your stance on this war. But again if you are consuming this regions only export of worth then you are as responsible as I or anyone else is. Want to stand by your beliefs? Go live like they do in Yoder or the Amish.

So how is what I said there wrong?

What I was trying to point out lucee is the hate of you and yours on this blog towards Christians and Conservatives seems far worse to me than any hatred towards homosexuals from Christians I’ve personally seen. This is Fred Phelps and crew aside who can’t be lumped in with Christians any more than true muslisms can with terrorists.

Actually, Bush has financed this war by borrowing money from China. So how is that helping us? And as for burning fossil fuel – then go after Bush & Company again for not encouraging alternative fuel source.

So, do you walk everywhere you go? Do you drive a big SUV or a hybrid car? Do you heat your home or do you live in the cold? Exactly how is it different for you than the rest of us?

-I’m not, but lots of you seem to think you are different than I and those that support the war.

  24. suza
    Posted December 28, 2006 at 1:35 pm | Permalink

We are not different because we all in the same boat in this country. To be truly free of the Middle East troubles we need to get off the dependence of oil. To do that, we need leadership that is willing to do such a thing. So far, I don’t see any leadership on that issue. I see two oil men in the White House who let the big oil do whatever they want.

I do not support the Iraq war because I am still waiting for George W. Bush to make good on his promise to capture Bin Laden (you remember him – the one that masterminded 9/11). That is what I am waiting for but Bush has already stated that he doesn’t even think about Bin Laden anymore. How can Bush not think about the man who orchestrated the deaths of all those people in 9/11? That is pure arrogance. That is why so many people are now questioning this Iraq War and the run-up to it.

If questioning our president has now become a crime, then we really aren’t a free society after all, are we?

    Completely insane.

When was the last time any of the lefties here argued for a constitutional amendment to outlaw christians and conservatives, and deny them equal treatment under the law.

Still waiting on the christian repentance for their treatment of homosexuals.

Hell, even George Wallace repented for his bigotry. Remember when christianity and the bible were used as evidence that slavery was a good thing? Of course Ian still believes it.

Although I haven’t much time on this blog, it seems that homosexuality is predominantly brought up by you KSFRMGRL.

I haven’t seen anyone bring it BUT you. Do most Christians believe it is wrong? I think they do, but it is a ‘crime against God’ between two consenting adults. Unlike the polarizing abortion issue, in which at least one party has now say.

So the hatred seems to be on your part KSFRMGRL. Your hatred of non-acceptance.

Bush wouldn’t hesitate, if he thought it might cost a few thousand Americans to see Saddam swing. Read a few minutes ago the WH is saying it’ll be in the next few days, the Iraqi’s are not in such a hurry. But, Bush has a speech to deliver, since he’s been to the mountain (ranch) to pow wow with the Guy upstairs!

Before Saddam swings, I’m surprised he isn’t circulated through our daily radio talk shows and Sunday morning TV news programs. He could also write several newspaper articles and op-ed letters to editors. Perhaps some scholarly articles on “Where Iraq went wrong,” and “My American friend, April Glassby.” Finally a potential tell-all “best-seller” for 2007.

Followed by executing his final chapter.
