Is Roberts leaving?

Still no comment from Kansas Sen. Pat Roberts about reports that he is leaving the Senate Intelligence Committee. His spokesperson told me today that Roberts would have a statement when the committee assignments are made official, which should be in a few weeks.
Roberts has been in the center of a storm since becoming chairman of the committee in 2003. But he particularly became a lightning rod after his committee’s report on how the White House used prewar intelligence information kept getting delayed, and it still isn’t done.

I am dubious that he will leave, although there are many reasons why he might. My thought is based upon my recollection that Sen. Roberts requested, from the Republican Senate leadership, a “waiver” of a rule concerning how long one could serve on the Intelligence Committee.

Or is this further evidence of the onset of CRS?

So if Roberts leaves, does that make him a target of investigation into why his committee’s investigation into the Bush’s pre-war intelligence has not yet been released?

Yes – Roberts should be a target of investigation. I know he doesn’t want to sit and question the scumbags that he protected, so he shimmied his way out the door. Get his ass back in there and make the sneaky twerp answer some questions. HEll, for entertainment value, call Dan Quayle in – tell him we are looking for signs of intelligence.

    How about that!

I think Roberts must be running the shredders overtime and wants as far away from this committee as possible ASAP.

He can’t even answer the yes or no question of “are you staying?”

    What a coward.

I am so going to enjoy campaigning against this rePUKE next election . . .

I’m glad he’s from Kansas so that we can have the satisfaction of taking him down.

The country loses if Roberts’ leaves the Intelligence Committee.

Roberts has led this committee during very difficult times and our country is safer for it.

He has a great reputation among folks from both sides of the Senate aisle, and even Rockefeller has been very complimentary of his leadership.

Yes, Roberts is a Republican, but he is about as fair of a person as any in the Senate.

It has been Roberts who has pushed for reform of the intelligence committee, sometimes to the chagrin of the administration and others.

He has always tried to do the right thing regardless of the consequence and he was nearly always correct.

Yeah! You guys are the smartest people in the room. I know!

    *rolleyes*

Sure! It’s great to do nothing but post on the WE blog all day long day after day flooding your statements on here. If you’re unemployed or faking disablity so you can sit at home all day like some of you on here, it’s easy to troll your end of this blog.

You guys bitched and made idiotic statements (and continue to do so), with some of you down right employing hate speech and stalking through e-mails since this blogs been up, because the Republicans were the evil ones that stoled the election from you in 2000 and 2004.

You guys one fair and square this time. Now that I employ the exact same tatics you guys did against Republicans and you are the moral standard of it all? Yeah right! It’s a taste of your own medince. If bad mouthing people works, payback a bitch!

Get ready unemployeed leftist! The world you think will welfare you to a wealthy happy life will never come.

    Yeah! I need to stop.

Look! I just make silly statements to make a point, because believe it or not, you guys do the same thing.

I haven’t been around on this blog as much as I used to. I’m working on other things. You know! Something that progessive in my own life.

There isn’t any good debated on here anymore. It’s just the same people on each thread running 80 post deep. There is probably less than 20 people who post, about 6 of you actively posting whoring about 80% of the post, and those 6 are politically aligned.

It’s not that it’s a bad thing. It’s just preaching to the choir, and when an active Conservative like Heckler gets on to post something, everybody jumps on him and nothing constructive is said.

    It’s just boring and old.

I made my perfect point! All I had to do was say something about how leftist were bad people and here comes the calvery of the same 4 to 6 people.

It’s so predictable. I just wish the WE blog was more active and more constructive. I know the Editors would like that too.

Please provide the link about the “bottled up” pre war intelligence.

    Thanks for trying.

Ed – I am referring to the investigation that has supposedly been going on for about the past year.

And when did Rockefeller et al vote to support the invasion. What they voted on (mistakenly IMO) was to give the president leeway.

Well, Joe, recruit your friend and ask him to recruit his friend, etc, etc, and pretty soon all you “Something that progessive in my own life.” folks will out number all those nasty leftists and we can have a real debate!

Just remember, one leftist equals ten reich-wingers, so you’ll have to do a lot of recruiting. Unfortunately, it takes a lot of CONservatives to equal the intellectual power of just one progressive.

That’s because we use facts and not talking points from Rush Limbaugh or Bill O’Rielly.

But, I digress, joe, start working on that recruiting and get back with us when you are ready for a real debate.

    Good luck!

Capn America is alright! Just a typical liberal with a strong point of view. Nothing special, but makes a great point every once in awhile. Valued on this blog.

Everybody else are all good, except for one or two of you. You’re true trolls and you know who you are.

Me! Yeah! I’ve been slammed and proved wrong on some points. I’ve changed my mind on issues because of some of the facts some of you have laid down. Although I adimitly disagree and oppose leftist socalism and I have bitter bias viewpoints as a Libertarian (we all really do), I just hate seeing some of you really getting away with trash. That’s all.

Other than that! I’m typing this with a smile. If we ever met, we would be friends and corgal. I’m not without sin though and I’ll admit I dislike a couple of people on here because I truely believe they are not good people.

They always say out of 30 people you always have one that is just a complete jerk. Maybe I’m that jerk to some of you too.

Sometimes you just feel cold torwards a person.

I’ll always try to strive to be a better poster. I’ll try to lay out critisim with facts and keep useless name calling to a minimum.

Well WSClark! I disagree with your point! The vast majority of people subscribe to leftism. There are way more registared Democrats in the USA than Republicans.

Just moderates are the majority. Right wingers, as you call them, may have more fame and recongition because they are way more successful than leftist. That actually has to do with work ethic more than anything.

“a Democrat, so that means he not a sleeze ball politican”

Your quote, Joe, totally unprovoked, no need to refer to anyone as a “sleeze ball.”

If you want a civil debate, Joe, one that is based on facts and informed opinions, try using those same techniques.

Once you begin using terms like “sleeze ball” all bets are off and you will have the same venom directed at you as you direct at others.

As I have posted before, I have a number of conservative friends and we are able to debate the issues without insult.

The point is, Joe, I only pull the trigger when the opposition chooses to pull out the guns.

I just happen to be faster and more accurate on the draw than most conservatives.

I look for Roberts to retire before his next election. I think even he knows that he is boxed in when it comes to hiding for the Bush Administration. Too many voters are mad and upset about the war.

George W. has made it quite clear that no matter what anyone says, he is going to stay the course in Iraq until his last day in office.

So what is Pat Roberts going to do? Continue to sit there and take the rap for George W. Bush?

Roberts is not that dumb and he has a big fat pension just waiting for him when he retires. And think about all that free health care that comes with his retirement package. And all the speaking engagements back home and around the GOP countryside. He won’t be going out in the cold hungry, believe me.

I used to respect Pat Roberts before he sold his pride to George W. Bush and his cronies.
