Take back America, Vote Democrat!
Contigo, podemos!
It’s down the road, not across the street.
Voting was smooth and easy – good job Bill Gale!
I heard two of the ladies signing in voters at our voting spot say that today’s turnout has been good. That was around 4:30-5.
That’s good news! It shows people care enough to vote.
Went in to my polling place and had no problems casting my vote. However, it just doesn’t seem right to me that I’m not required provide any sort of identification.
Nonetheless, I feel great today. It looks like we may finally get some oversight from Congress, and I finally saw Morrison and Sebelius signs on the walkways over Kellogg.
I only hope voters nationally have as easy a time getting counted as I did today.
You know the bad thing about advance voting is like the situation with Jan Beemer. Some people have probably voted for her before hearing about her arrest and now wish they could have voted differently, but of course it would have been no different if her situation occurred after the election?
i must be getting old..i’m more excited about the election than i am the ku basketball game. funny how priorities change.
Here is a good question…..Who guards democracy’s guard dogs? The media has oft been reported as the most self-congratulatory bunch around. Awards for this, that and everything else. Keep that self esteem through the roof, oh guardians of democracy. The moderns in the media sit in the seats of the Pharisees of old, deciding who is “orthodox” and who must go. They look oh so righteous and clean, but they are really full of crap. Take Randy, Richard and Phill for example. They are all bought and paid for, sold out for fame, power and money. Dangerous birds they are, for no one is watching over them. Lou is not, Phill will not respond to repeated questions of Randy’s runaway biases. We read that poor Randy is alienated from his rich car dealing family, Right. Was that before or after their influence got him his present position? Is he alienated, really? If so, is it a fast that he is trying to worm his way back in by striking out against the very Consumer Protection Division that has so enraged the Wichtita auto Dealers. (Have not heard of that story? For good reason!) And who will report on these under the table dealings and biases? NONE WILL AT THE EAGLE. Hey, I will, that is, as long as I have breath, and until Lou orders that my IP be blocked. (Coming soon, I assure you.) Why will it be blocked? Think about it, I am probably hurting Randy’ self esteem, and I am questioning the god Crowson’s objectivity, and I am showing you all that Phill has sold out to the ad buyers. So I will soon be silenced, bet on it. Not rebutted, silenced.AND NOW, THIS WORD FROM PHILL & RICARD & LOU & RANDY’S SPONSORS: This message brought to you by Rent A Center and the Wichita Auto Dealers Association, who mockingly ask, “Why own it when you can lease from us in perpetuity???”We hope you enjoy the pre approved rants of our bought and paid for editorial board members. It is good to have a voice running this board in godlike fashion, asking the hard questions but refusing to answer the same. Kinda like our salesmen! IT IS GOOD TO BE MEDIA KINGS! IT IS GOOD TO CONTROL THE EDITORIAL DISCRETION OF THE EAGLE!
Well, exit polling appears to show that corruption was a major issue for white evangelicals, almost 1/3 of whom voted for Democrats.
http://electioncentral.tpmcafe.com/blog/electioncentral/2006/nov/07/associated_press_exit_polls_a_third_of_evangelicals_vote_for_dems
Yeah, I guess Ted Haggard really didn’t affect the race at all. Or Mark Foley.
It also looks like Ken Mehlman is setting up to accuse Democrats of fixing elections in New Jersey.
http://digbysblog.blogspot.com/
Weaseldom, thy name is Mehlman.
truthteller, it was great knowing you, man.
Exit polls are bunk!!!!!
Viva La Revolucion Blanco!!!
TT,
If you have truths to tell then please do so, don’t beat around the bush!
V.L.R.B!!
Shit. For Ian Santiago, elections are bunk. The only thing that matters is the burning of the Reichstag.
Exit polls are extremely accurate. They are the measure by which we gauge the credibility of the elections of foreign countries to determine whether foul play was taking place. In the US, both in 2000 and 2004, the exit polls declared a victory for Gore and Kerry respectively; the people who run the exit polls were stunned, and had to come up with a bullsh*t theory of how exit polls favor Democrats because Republicans are less likely to respond to exit polling. Nevermind that a precinct in Florida recorded NEGATIVE votes for Kerry. Or that the “irate mob” that stormed the recount office were PAID GOP STAFFERS. Democracy my ass.
Let’s hope this one plays out fair, no matter how it falls.
From ACORN’s bag of tricks to rig the elections;1) Buy the voter registration database and parse out those voters that are dead or never vote.2) Hire union members recommended by the ACLU to fill in absentee votes and send to respective election offices, or show up at the polling places with false names because it’s the liberals who are against ID cards. Wonder why?
Yeah, right, take back America Steve and vote Democrat w/o real election reform! If you libs want to be taken serious by moderates, you might want to HAVE A PLAN!!! Other than the plan of complain, bash, bit#$ and moan. LOL
ID:
Democrats have never been as good at rigging elections as Republicans. Maybe the GOP will share their secrets???
Exit polls are NOT accurate, generally, that’s bullsh*t!
V.L.R.B!!
“truthteller”?
If the Eagle is biased left, why did we not get a Tiahrt thread? If you read here you know that I and others asked for one REPEATEDLY.
Take your many nics and disappear. No one will miss you.
Here is a link to the HBO program “Hacking Democracy”. It is long but very interesting and well worth the time. If you don’t want to look at the entire thing at once you can do a search for “HBO Special Hacking Democracy” and there are links to where the program is broken intp 4 or 5 parts.

Felt really good to vote a straight Democratic ticket (for the first time). It seemed like a pretty good turnout for a local election, I hope people are as fed up as I am with how the Republicans have run things for the past 8 yrs. We’ll see tomorrow how it all turned out, let’s just hope the country is on it’s way to making a positive transition back to sanity.
kitty Kat Harris got handed her ass. I wonder how much of her families money she blew making a fool of herself? Now she can crawl back under her rock. The bush’s have no further use for her.
Thanks, k. I haven’t had a chance to watch it yet.
Sasquatch siting near polling place in Wichita.
Who said voting went smoothly?!? My polling place was changed without notification. The website wasn’t able to tell me where I needed to go. Then I called the election office and was on hold for quite some time. When I finally was told where I should go to vote, the polling place didn’t have me on the list and I had to place a provisional ballot (which I’m not even confident will be counted.) All in all it took me almost two hours to be able to vote. Talk about frustrating!
Okay, which right-wing idiot gets whacked first . . .
ID–
Let’s say that your wild-eyed theory actually could be implimented.
1. How would the fraudsters know which voters were dead? They would have to know more than the people who keep the records.
Remember, if someone got caught in this little scheme, the consequences are harsh and enforced.
2. Even under best-case scenarios, the number of fradulent voters would be very small against the total number cast. Nothing like what you could do with a e-machine hooked up to computer tally.
Surcam writes that “it just doesn’t seem right to me that I’m not required provide any sort of identification.” Surcam, you already provided identification–it’s called “registration.” That’s why you had to sign and date that legal document called a “reg form.”
Anybody going in a voting as you after you voted would be immediately identified as a fraudulent voter, he or she would be arrested and the police would haul them off.
Rather a big price to pay to be able to vote twice, don’t you think?
Looks like Bush did his job…for the dems.
Boyda, Nancy Dem 2,293Ryun, Jim (i) GOP 1,901
Gosh truth teller, and no mention of the champion republican shill, the asshole formerly known as values boy?
Hell, he is PROUD of his bias and the WE still pretends he belongs on the editorial page and not the religious right page.
Give me a break. Dont even bring that crap in here about bias unless you lead off with the bias of values BOY.
Heavy on the boy there…..
Cant we have another GROWN UP on the editorial page? Will this election finally convince the WE that the days of values boys are OVAH?
Sigh. Oh hell know. If anyone bought and paid for the we, it is the evangelicals.
…and did we mention NO THREAD on toddly the toadie?
Talk about bought and paid for.
And from the looks of THIS election trend, toddly is gonna be without friends or power in the next congress. SO you sent back the bush toadie with diminishing power. I mean, what’s he gonna do? Switch parties and be a democrat? Like the dems would HAVE his sorry ass?
Nice going Wichita. Just keep riding that horse while he sinks to the ground.
Easier than change, no?
hehehehehehehehehehheheheh
Yes, except there’s no way to validate that the person who registered is the same person voting on election day.
What if I got a number of apathetic friends to register just so I could vote for them? What’s to stop me. I might get caught, but there’s certainly no guarantee.
I agree it’s a big price to pay, but my concern is not with punishment, but rather enforcement.
But, hey, the fat lady hasn’t sung yet.
The family of Katherine Harris only allowed her to spend $1 million of the money she recently inherited from her father. Apparently they thought there might be a better use for the money than Kahterine’s folly. Looks like they were right.
Harris is writing a tell-all book about how she was victim of both a vast left- (media) and right-wing (some skepitcal Republicans) conspiracy. You know you are a victim when both sides collude to get you. I can’t wait to buy the book. It will great for some laughs.
Laughed my ass off reading this article about Katherine:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/10/30/AR2006103001311.html
Looks like Sebelius is going to be our clear winner, as is Morrison. It’s early yet, but all reporting counties are pointing that way.
Kiss kansas water goodbye…
Four more years of water used as political payoff.
Brown over DeWine in OH.
Santorum in PA is out.
Hostetler in IN is out.
That’s three radical wingers out.
Probably the best political commentary this election day evening here in Wichita is Channel 5 (not on Cable). Three political commentators are featured: our WE Blogger, “Mr. Controversy,” plus James Barfield plus State Senator Phil Journey.
I believe these fellows will be on until about 10 PM.
Right now, its about 8:15 PM and minimal, if any, Kansas and Sedgwick County returns have been reported so far.
Gee, and now Michael Steele is projected the loser?
heheheh
I guess even the “steele/democrat” bumper stickers didnt work.
An R who tried to fake that he was a D? And he STILL is losing?
hee hee hee hee hee hee hee hee hee
The party of desperation.
Didnt hankie say he’s show up on Tuesday and take “his whoppin’ like a man”?
Was that Tuesday or Wednesday? Or was that on November 31st? heheheh
Enquiring minds want to know. I wanna mark it on my daytimer so as not to miss it….
hee hee hee
And no spin from hankie about haggard?
Damn, it’s gonna be tough to be one of the price boys…….
Not to mention being paulie the shillie.
More on Steele’s dirty tricks.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/11/07/AR2006110700740.html
I’m pleased as punch at Boyda’s numbers! And I’m rather amazed that KKKLine is losing by so much. OH and another goodie, looks like Wempe might take over the School Board too! WEEEEEE doggies.
I also saw on MSNBC that the majority of Catholics are voting DEMOCRAT WOWWWIE.
Don’t wanna jinx it but Nancy Boyd is doing well early against Nancy boy Jim Ryun……
Oh TODDDDD? No reports yet but you could be in for a surprise!
Heheheh They cant run, so I guess they have to hide? hee hee hee hee
From US News & World Report
At GOP HQ: No Access for Reporters to Big GunsPosted at 7:48 PM ET by Will Sullivan
Maybe they just don’t want anyone around when they pop the champagne and start playing “Celebration.” But if the setup for reporters is any indication, the National Republican Congressional Committee is not looking forward to the press it’s going to get tonight. Reporters covering the GOP, including me, are stuck in the lobby shared by the NRCC and the Republican National Committee. There’s no access to GOP officials and no schedule for when they will appear to discuss the results. Until 6:30, there wasn’t even a TV set up for watching returns. This is not the backdrop for touting a stunning success.
Compare that with the result-watching party the Democrats have only a short distance away. My colleague Silla Brush is at the Hyatt Regency, a few blocks from the Capitol, where the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee jointly have rented out two ballrooms and several filing rooms. TV and radio crews are setting up in front of a large stage, and several podiums are ready for a string of jubilant speakers. Hotel workers in tuxedos are strolling through the Hyatt ballrooms picking up Democrats’ plates, while NRCC staffers had to settle for takeout.

early results on the Jan Beemer race.
Jan L. Beemer …… 72 / 31%Judith Loganbill …… 153 / 65%James Pruden …… 6 / 2%WRITE-IN …… 1 / 0%from:http://www.sedgwickcounty.org/elections/election_results/Gen06/index.html
Also look at this. Still early, though:
Raj Goyle …… 286 / 63%Bonnie Huy …… 165 / 36%WRITE-IN …… 0 / 0%
AP has called Tiahrt the winner……but there are 0 precincts reporting! Huh?
Here is hoping for a Harry Truman moment……
Hey where are all the republicans tonight?
I’m surprised, at this point, that McGinn is only down 44% to Tiahrt’s 52%.
Lovin’ the those numbers for Raj Goyle and Walt Chappell over Bonnie “Let Them Pay Property Taxes” Huy and Brenda “I’m da Man!” Landwehr!
This is a sick day for Kansas. I hope you Morrison voters are proud of the fact you are now giving aid and comfort to Tiller the Killer, who is operating Auschwitz on East Kellogg. Shame, shame, shame Kansas voters…you have chosen to protect kiddie rapists just so you can protect your sacred “constitutional right” to kill a baby!
Arrr me mateys it looks as if democrat crew has indeed made a push,
But alas they be all forgetting that Ship’s Captain still be named a Bush.
Arrrrr
Hey TillerHater,
Go fuck yourself with the Auschwitz comparisons, OK?
Lookit these numbers for the Ryun / Boyda race. Still early, but WOW.
KS-02 Boyda (D): 56.6%Ryun (R): 43.4%n/a n/a 17.8% 09:51 pm EST
JM,
That’s purty good thar, matey.
If you want to compare this election to ‘94, let’s get one thing straight here:
The GOP had a clear-cut concrete plan known as the Contract With America when they ran in 1994. What do the Dummycrats have this year? Bush stinks, Bush is terrible, Bush is leading us down a rathole, Bush is this, that, blah blah blah…what is the plan? Oh, you don’t have one!
Yeah, tillerhater, the “holocaust” is a fraud but there REALLY have been millions of babies aborted, so keep it real!
V.L.R.B!!
Hey CF, there’s no need for the foul language. You, like many liberals, can’t be civil.
Tiller has killed over 60,000 babies at his clinc, and he cremates the dead babies himself! If that isn’t Auschwitz, then I don’t know what is. Tiller should be in El Dorado as BTK’s bunkmate.
Dear TillerHater the Revisionist,
Bullshit. They didn’t run on their plan. As I recall, their campaign was “Hillary’s a lesbian who wants to take away your choice of doctors.”
You’re losing in a big way tonight, TillerHater.
GET OVER IT.
Did I say the Holocaust was a fraud? No way. The Holocaust was sick, just as what Tiller is doing to these unborn babies. I do not deny the Holocaust, because it was a terrible blot on this world’s histroy. But for those of you to turn a blind eye to what is going on at 5107 E. Kellogg, you need to get in tune with the horrors that goes on behind those walls every day.
TillerHater,
You start throwing around the Auschwitz comparisons, and this half Jew will take it personally.
Capiche? You want civility? Give civility. You want a fight, keep it up.
Who would have ever though that Kansas would be so “progressive” as to elect an aclu activist, wetback loving curry muncher like raj goyle? I am feeling warm and fuzzy all over! Worse is better, yo!! :)
Viva La Revolucion Blanco!!
Hey CF, do you think what Tiller the Killer is doing is right? Do you believe it is moral? No matter what the outcome of the elections are, you have to admit that pulling a baby out of the mother’s womb and sucking its brains out is disgusting.
But enough. I’m not going to continue with this nonsense. We have political races to discuss.
Ian Santiago,
You say ‘curry muncher’ like it’s a bad thing. Mmmm, curry.
CF, do you know what goes on in Tiller the Killer’s clinc? Do you?
Actually, I shouldn’t use Auschwitz, because Tiller kills babies no matter what the religion. But what he is doing is a grisly reminder of the Nazi concentration camps.
I am sick and tired of Sebelius claiming how good Kansas econonmy is. It is not, and what businesses–other than Tiller the Killer’s abortion mill–have prospered under her leadership? None. Not one.
If she wants to ruin a state, she needs to go back to Ohio, because by time she’s done in 2011, Kansas will be occupying the spot in national surveys that is currently reserved for LOSER-ana. Sad. Really sad.
I’m scared to see 4 more years of Sebelius… It’s going to be a rough 4 years for the Kansas Legislature. I hope there’s some STRONG backbone in there to stop her from bringing liberal ideology. This state is going to die if she gets her way.
“Tiller the Killer, who is operating Auschwitz on East Kellogg.”
Civility?
hehehehehehe HEE HEE HEE HEE HEE HEE
Hypocrisy, thy name is tiller hater….
hehehehehehehe
Civility? yeah, these mean ol’ voters. How DARE they disagree with the pope and randal terry.
Tillerhater, er Sollie, er Paulie, er, whatever nic….
Arent you the one who said here “GET OVER IT”
Looks like you are gonna get to practice what you preach.
Listen to you wingnuts–I love it, God, I love it.
Well, gee, if the kansas economy is bad, let’s blame the kansas congress on that one.
Ok repukes and religous wingers, it’s ok. get it out. Let alllllll that venom out now.
We really dont want to hear it for the next few years.
Come on, puke it all up now, so you can GET THE HELL OVER IT!
heheheheheheheheheheheheheheheheheh
Looks like Spirit One isn’t have services tonight.
Oh, the wailing! The gnashing of teeth!
While I was standing on the Kellog overpass dancing badly and waving my Sibelius and Morrison signs for the afternoon rush hour, the Wingnut next to me proclaimed that God ensured him and his cohorts, last night, of a Philllllllllllll Kline victory.
I will not gloat, I will not gloat…
Hee hee hee hee
I’m having trouble acting like I’ve been in the end zone before too CF. It’s been a long time in the wilderness. And the abuse from the right hands of the right will be really hard to forget.
Oh, and where is KIA tonight?
Bitter, party of GOP? Your table with crow is ready…..
Go Leftist Demorats, Go!!!!!!!!!Viva Open Borders!Viva Gun Confiscation!Viva Voting Rights for Felons!!Viva More Entitlements for Minorities!Viva Higher Taxes!Viva Amnesty for Wetbacks!Viva Forced Pubic Education!!Viva Extreme Leftist DemS!!!!!!!
LMSARFAO!!!!!!!
V.L.R.B!!!
Mmmmm, crow.
If y’all will excuse me (and I’m sure a number of you will be happy to do so), I’m off to the Sedgwick Co. Democrats gathering at the Louise Murdoch theater on N. Broadway. If they have wi-fi, I’ll blog from there.
TTFN
Oh, the cries of the bitter, psychotic wingnuts! Tillerhater and the disgusting racist Ian, kiss my grits, bitches. Tonight is ours!
Tiller, you forgot to mention he bathes in their blood and eats their hearts. yfm
As for the contract with America, wasn’t there something in it about morality and accountability? Haven’t seen much of that now have we. And for the record the Democrats do have a ‘contract’. But unlike the repukes contract it isn’t a publicity stunt. They don’t go publicizing it because it isn’t a propaganda tool, it is the outline of what they will do for the country. Here is a link to their outline. The actual elements begin on page 2.
http://www.thenation.com/doc/20051024/borosage
And if I remember correctly, one brilliant Mr. Steven Davis warned that turning this into a race between tiller and philllllllll was a bad idea.
Y’all should listen to him more.
Yes. I see tiller is winning.
hehehehehehehehehehehhehehehhehehh
Ian Santiago,
Don’t forget race-mixing and free gay love!
ddub,
I’m pullin’ for ya there, boy. I want you side to win and win big, fo sho!
Viva La Revolucion Blanco!!
Oh, and just in case you forgot…
tiller,tiller,tiller,tiller,tiller,tiller,tiller,tiller,tiller,tiller,tiller,tiller,tiller,tiller,tiller,tiller,tiller,tiller,tiller,tiller,tiller,tiller,tiller,tiller,tiller,tiller,tiller,tiller,tiller,tiller,tiller,tiller,tiller,tiller,tiller,tiller,tiller,tiller,tiller,tiller,tiller,tiller,tiller,tiller,tiller,tiller,tiller,tiller,tiller,tiller,tiller..
hehehehehehehehehhe
HEHEHEHEHE!!!!! Free gay love. Repukes prefer to pay for it. See you right wing nut jobs?!?!?!? Liberals aren’t all bad. You no longer have to pay for your homosexual love anymore.
Yay! Glad to see Joe Lieberman win.
One of the few ‘good guys’ left around.
Yep, let’s hear it for lieberman, a vile anti-American, israel first zionist who got voted into office thanks to cretinous, sub-moronic republicans! :)
Viva La Revolucion Blanco!!
Joe isn’t one of them. Just another two faced POS who puts his personal agenda before his duty to this constitutients and his country. Wonder how much money he gets from AIPAC? But on the bright side even though Joe is ahead by 11%, only 30% of the votes have been counted.
Wow is Harris’s face really that twisted, or did the media doctor her picture up! http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20061108/pl_nm/usa_elections_harris_dc
arrrrrrgggg………..that is supposed to be ‘constituent’. I accidentally hit the button to post.
Maybe the lack of our right wing-nuts on the blog this evening is due to them having to get their talking points straight so they can claim that the elections were stolen from the corporations by the people of the US.
I voted…got right in and voted paper after I verifyed it would be counted…
Hour later I took Hubby to vote…was looking and watching and noticed the sample paper ballots for voters to look over. I picked one up to look at it and someone had blackened the circles to all the repuke candidates…blaaaaa
I picked up the ballot and went over to the bossy poll lady and said. YOu need to throw this away…she said NOOOO I said YES YOU DO, SOMEONE HAS MARKED IT AND THAT IS ILLEGAL If you do not toss it, I will call the media RIGHT NOW
She folded it and looked at me like I was crazy.
I read today that Diebold is thinking of getting OUT of the voting machine business.
hehehehe
To quote Dave…”you think?”
Sigh, I miss the old days here when you could count on nathan saying “hasty generalization” and “bushhatefest” and he would quote scripture for hours about how god hates fags….
Come on righties. Like the song says “come and get your love”….
Did they all “cut and run” from the blog?
hee hee hee hee hee hee hee hee hee
It IS a good night. Even if I live in the sorry stupid district of Todd Tiahrt. What the hell is the matter with SOME Wichita people?

What’s happening currently in Iraq
Political Satire Toonie…

http://election.cbsnews.com/campaign2006/index.shtml
The Kansas economy is growing and we are hiring – isn’t that what Todd Tiarht said in his television ad?
You Repubs cannot blame Sebelius for anything – look at your own Repub boy touting how good Kansas is. Can’t have it both ways.
Hey TillerHater – if you know so much of what Tiller does in his clinic – then you must be a part of his team?
Sounds awfully suspicious to me.
It’s a shame that the WE and other local media did not demand debates between TT and Garth McGinn. McGinn is a Kansan, born and raised on a farm here. He didn’t get PAC megabucks, mostly supplied by out-of-staters. Yet he got 35% of the vote, despite running a shoestring campaign. With media support, he could have gotten 51%: he was two-thirds there with zero medial support.
The media backed TT. So what do South Central Kansans get for the media’s backstabing of a native Kansan? A new minority-party member who’s 12 years of seniority is going to be worth a sucker-on-a-stick, minus the candy. The Northeast sector of the state will benefit with two Democratic congressmen. Wichita is going to be left out in the cold.
I don’t know what the calculus was, for example currying local advertisers’ favor, but local businesses that sell goods and services within the community don’t create a viable economy. They only redistribute outside-world-source dollars, they don’t generate an inflow. The local media’s decision to support the status quo may have seemed tactically sound for the short term, but it was long-term-strategically a very serious error.
Judging from kssos, Democrats could pick up 10 seats in the Kansas House.
Boyda wins…
Ryun Concedes
yea baby
Cue extremely loud music and mucho beer drinking:
YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!
BTW, Rove: KISS MY FUCKING ASS – YOU DESERVE THIS MORE THAN ANYONE, SAVE YOUR HALF-FUEHRER, WHO IS IN JUST A *TAD* BIT OF TROUBLE RIGHT NOW! HUUUUUUZZZZZZZAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!
Proof voters are stupid. The rest of America is correct. Kansans are stupid.
Kansas made progress tonight
we have
Dem GovDem AG2 Dem reps…
need to work on t-fart and moron and the two idiot senators…
that is our next goal
AMERICA HELD HOSTAGE – DAY 1
AMERICA IS FUCKED NOW.
Forgive us Lord for we know not what we do.
Amen.
Oh, go boohoo somewhere else.
Hey Pam what I was hearing from Levin, Rush , and Hannity was tape delayed. They’ve ALL gotta be on suicide watch now!
I did TRY to get the Eagle to address the Tiahrt matter. You Republicans remember that with your new minority party representative. The Eagle owes South central Kansas an apology for their negligence as to Tiahrt.
I am not female. But what a victory for women today. For the first time in history, the Speaker of the House will be a woman. Too, the right of a woman to control her own reproduction has been affirmed in South Dakota. And here at home, Kline has been defeated.
hannity’s website has posters saying they should have shot all those running as democrats
some family values huh
I would like to offer Phill Kline my heartfelt thanks for his help in bringing the Kansas religious crackpot and right wingnut alliance to it’s knees tonight! We couldn’ta done it without ya, Phill!
I knew there would come a day when the majority of the country stands up and tells the hypocrit Religious Wackos and the greedy Republicans to take a hike.
The GOP party did this to themselves – they have lied, cheated and stole and all in the name of God.
I’m sure even God is getting a chuckle at this moment – you think?
Lemme hear you squeal, GOP…
..wweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!
Ned Beatty has nothing on these people. If only they thought beyond the unborn, (maybe the BORN) they might realize that there’s more to life than this dreck.
Congrats to Paul and Kathleen, and it looks like Raj and Judy.
Also like to say Kudos to the fine people of Clearwater for not destroying their volunteer EMS by making it pay-for-service.
Susan Wilkins, hee, hee, to you too sweetheart!
Two things: SCOTUS and no homo marriage hehehehehahahahahaha
Morrison provided a very gracious acceptance speech. He said Phill was gracious, too.
Lest you forget, Morriosn kicked Kline’s ass, because Kline had no business, what-so-ever, being the KS AG.
The mistake was corrected tonight!!!
Postal, you’re kidding! They wanted to make it pay-for-service?
On the same note, where do you live? Surely not Clearwater.
Hmmmmm…. I see the stock market is up and the price of oil has dropped already.
Leading House Republican “Iraq not a reflection on me”:http://www.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/11/02/pryce.iraq/index.html
If I didn’t live in or around there, why would I care? :)
Yes, some asshat on the Clearwater City Council got it up his hind end that he wanted to make money off the retirement community by charging Medicare for all the transfers. Not realizing that he’d screw all the insuranceless people who, living around there, are all potential customers. Taking a ride with Clearwater’s finest has been free for 30 years or so. It appears they will be funding it with a $2.00 surcharge to the water bill, so now I guess they can afford some new equipment. $2.00 a month is CHEAP insurance vs. a 6-800 dollar ambulance bill. Family of 3 = 66 cents/month/person. I pay around 60-70 every 2 weeks for my health insurance for 3 people. I didn’t get to vote on the issue since I don’t live IN town.
I went to jr high and high school in Clearwater. Moved to near Viola when I got married, then back to Clearwater when I divorced 24 years later. Now I’m in Wichita. Clearwater was always my “home town,” but I wouldn’t go back if they paid me now.
Are you N, S, E, or W of town?
It is a kook busting night.
So let me stick a pin in the kook NoJoCo.
SCOTUS= Supreme Court of the United States. bush will get no more nominees comfirmed. Done, over, yesterday.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA!
Forgive us, Lord, we know that you must be PISSED.Everyone knows You’re a Republican.
Sad,
All your prayers have gone unanswered. Do you really think God is listening to you after using him?
You have to admit that if God is a Republican, then Jesus was a Democrat.
West of town. Barely. I would say more, but I might as well give my name, address, and phone number out.
Former Salinan Jerry McNerney knocks off Republican Congressman Richard Pombo.
McCaskill just went up 14,000 votes on Talent…80 percent in.
I didn’t vote … I really should have but it’s become so corrupt that I don’t give a sh*t , the voting computers can be rigged so as to vote in who they ( the Ultra Rich / Federal Reserve Owners) want and it leaves no paper trail unlike the Kathline Harass deal, fighting wars against terrorist while leaving the boarders open and then taking our rights away in the name of freedom (habius corpus) ARRRRRRRRRGGUUHH people please wake the f**k up we are living in a police state, you have to ask premission from the state to do just about everything, I’m so mad I wanna hit something.
SOOOOOO happy.
mrcontroversy–no shit?!? Haven’t seen those numbers.
Democrats started taking their country back from the Bush / Rove nightmare tonight. The real work begins tomorrow.
If VA holds… we might just do it!
The republican line of though:http://www.time.com/time/cartoons/20061029/3.html
With all this talk about Dems winning we shouldn’t forget the real winners: The American People. We will now have accountability in government. We have now put a stop to the rubber stamp. The president will now have to answer for his violating international law, trampling over the Constitution, and trying to gather as much power for the executive branch and destabilizing the government. Yes we should celebrate this victory. But we should remember the Dems have a lot of work ahead of them. I personally believe they are well up to the task.
As for our right wing yellow backs who have finally come out from under their rocks. Perhaps you should take the advice you joyously offered ad nauseum over the last few years. QUIT YOUR F#@!ING WHINING!! The people have spoken and you now know that you are the minority, you always were. YOU ARE THE REAL RIGHT WING NUTJOBS! Too damn stupid to see the forest for the trees.
Wow–lookit those MO #’s on the CNN site. That just might do it for Tallent’s Senate career. 14,000 is a lot of votes to make up with only 19% of precincts remaining…
McCaskill and Tester are both up 15,000.Webb’s margin is down to 2700 with less than 1 percent of precincts left.
The Virginia recount is going to be a WAR. I’m just glad it looks like the only one that’s going to happen.
mrcontroversy,
Right–and the VA absentees have yet to be counted.
Allen’s speech was weird. Fuck, Allen is weird. Major buffoon.
The dems better show some balls and IMPEACH that filthy traitor in the White House! If not, then I will be one unhappy Spanish-Aryan berserker, for sure!
Viva La Raza Blanco!!
Spanish-Aryan? Really?? You don’t suffer from an identity crisis do you?
Viva La Loca Bozo!!
So all I have to say for both sides is that I don’t serve the Republican or the Democratic party. I serve a God that controls all and HE puts those in power for HIS glory and honor. I am disgusted with the hateful comments given here and the complete disregard for the sanctity of life. Just because I hold conservative views does NOT make me a right-wing wacko.
Believe it or not a large majority of this country holds the same views as myself and if you ignore that with your secular delusions of grandeur then your reign will be much shorter than the 12 years the Republicans have enjoyed.
I voted, but it was not without a heavy heart. It took all I could do to press those touch screens. The lesser of two evils has been the strategy this year.
I just hope for all of you liberals celebrating victory tonight that you extend a hand of grace and mercy to the other side of the aisle and DO SOMETHING! It’s easy to criticize when the Republicans have self destructed but now you are in the hot seat because people expect something to happen.
To all the newly elected officials you will be in my prayers even if you don’t think they matter.
VA Election Commission site:Webb up 1,524 votes with 13 precincts outstanding statewide.
Missouri official returns:McCaskill up 23,365 with 84% in.
Them MO numbers lookin’ real good to me.
Who wants to bet that Bush goes back on the bottle?
McCaskill now up 25,000.
Now down to 21,000, with 85% of precincts reporting.
10 precincts left in VA.Webb now up 4,745.
Huh. Numbers changed slightly, and now McCaskill is up 25,000 again, though still with 85% of precincts reportings.
Gotta hit the hay. But I believe tomorrow will bring a Democratic Senate. That’s my prediction.
Today’s winner: Howard Dean and the 50-state strategy.
The uber-loser: Karl Rove and his lies, Lies, LIES.
Back up to 25,000, according to MO SOS.
9 precincts left.Webb up 7800.
Mcaskell now making her victory speech!!!
Suck on THAT Rush, Hank, Nathan, Heckler and all those that laughed at and derided Michael J Fox.
You and your sick ideas lose.
The Dems look poised to take both houses of congress. But they don’t have a veto-overriding supermajority. So Georgie is gonna have to decide whether he wants to leave a legacy of conciliation, or let his mind and spirit continue to be poisoned by the leftover-Nixonite Dickie, who envisions himself to be the Savonarola behind the president, who leaves poor Georgie holding the bag for Dickie’s power-lusting insanity. Or maybe both of them will conclude, “We made bazillions for our oilogarch friends, who will take care of us in our retirement, so we achieved our goals. Let the Dems clean up the s**t we’ve dumped on the American people.”
8 preceints left in VA.Webb up 7,634.
LOL Postal. No need for more. It would border on stalking. Nice to see you here though.
7 left in VA.Webb up 7720.
6 left.Webb up 8,359.
Well, here was a major defeat for America. Morals, gone. Protection of innocent human life, history. Taxes, get ready for the bounce. Congratulations to those who voted to retain a governor who would rather destroy a baby than protect it. Welcome to four more years of bad policy.
RD”Hmmmmm…. I see the stock market is up and the price of oil has dropped already.”
So explain to me why gas prices jumped 15 cents this morning!!
How do they justify that? I don’t think they answer to anyone! And it always seems like some are warned ahead of time… there was a feeding frenzy at the pumps yesterday evening!
America won, you lost, along with your crackpot religious ideas.
the oil prices jumped this morning? Yeah, they’re gonna punish us for voting their oil buddies out.
Jr
Show me where I “laughed at and derided” Michael J. Fox, if you can. Oh that’s right you can’t because I didn’t.
My thoughts on the election: Where am I going, and why am I in this handbasket??
disgusted, America has voiced their opinion and they reject your ‘reality’. No longer do you and those like you get to dictate policy without discussion; no longer will you be allowed to take this great country down a dead end street; no longer does the will of the corporations right take precedence over the will of the people. America has spoken and we no longer will sit by and allow the president to have a blank check to do as he pleases. We have rejected your silly notion of a unitary executive government. We have taken back our country from the hands of the inept and will now run it the way our founding fathers wanted it run, FOR THE PEOPLE!! The people have spoken and said loud and clear that President Bush and his policies are a failure. And if you and those like you are so upset, you could take a teaspoon of the medicine all of you were happy to give us. That’s America, love it or leave it! Congratulations America.
OK DEMS, now what?? During thiswhole campaign I have not hearda Democratic plan of attack. WHATDO YOU STAND FOR????!!!!!!
What I have abserved in the past:1)raise taxes2)more social programs (my highertaxes at work, the few paying forthe many)3)more liberalism:gay marriagestem cell (research??)cloningabortionso called “put them out of theirmisery” euthanasia – they do itto animals don’t they??taking God out of everythingand on, and on, and on, and ..
I did not vote for you and I can not support you.
Pmom…
No.. oil prices did not go up… GAS prices went up! I wan’t blaming a political party.. that is stupid… I truly wonder HOW they justify their hikes sometimes!!
If you don’t know what the Dems stand for, it’s because the GOP has been too loud and moral for you to hear it. I think I’d probably have to start with “peace and prosperity.”
Individual freedom, and the protection of the rights of the minority from the oppression by the majority. Democracy may be majority rule, but the constitution protects the smaller groups.
The way you sound, it’s as if all you know about the Democratic party is its extremists, and the talking points of Limbaugh, Hannity, and O’Reilly. Taking God out of everything is not politically based, except for that whole ten commandments thing. Most of that is based on lawsuits filed by individuals. Wanna blame someone, blame ATTORNEYS for the immorality you speak of. Democrats typically attempt to protect rights, but the Republicans hate it because they don’t just attempt to protect the rights of Christians.
I think the whole same-sex marriage/domestic partnership thing is going to prove to the GOP that you can’t violate the equal rights protections of the constitution, even if 54% of the people in a district say so.
And as far as a plan goes, the GOP obviously doesn’t have one. And the people know that.
On NPR last week some political scientist was saying that while there may be a tidal wave of voters against Bush, the levies constructed by Republican gerrymandering would withstand the flood.
I wonder what that clown has to say today.
And what about those 68 different polls that Rove was following that indicated the Repubs would hold the House & Senate? Could it be the fat foock was lying? Nah, never.
Bush and Hank Price were sure the Rs would hold the majorities today.
Well, the democratic process got in the way of a lot of predictions, huh?
The GOP has a plan and that is to stay the couse in Iraq. All I heard from the Democrats is “a new direction” as far as I am concerned how does that constitute a plan?
Furthermore, when taxes become higher, oil prices rise, and terrorists are in the streets of America, the people of America will reep the reprecussions of a Democratic run society….way to go America!
Not to rub it in or anything, but Hank you were WRONG about the Foley seat, too.
http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/politics/la-na-foley8nov08,1,2491892.story?coll=la-news-politics-national
Stay the course is no more of a plan than play it by ear, Rachel.
The word “reap” is spelled, well, not “reep.”
And that kind of hyperbole about the fall of Western society is the kind of tired rhetoric that made the GOP get its ass handed to it yesterday.
By the way, good morning. :)
“I just hope for all of you liberals celebrating victory tonight that you extend a hand of grace and mercy to the other side of the aisle and DO SOMETHING!”
Uh…..yeah. Would you like it if we did exactly what YOU ALL did? IF we treated you like you treated us?
After all, do unto others, right? So how you did us, is that how we should do you? Would you like that hand of mercy, or prefer the FINGER you all have given to us?
I dont think you’d like it if we treated you EXACTLY like you treated us.
You better be damn glad we have more charity than you.
Oh, and how about a little cheese to go with that whine?
Heheheh. Been waiting to say this:
GET OVER IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Steven:
Hank is what I call a “Football Voter.” No matter what, they’re loyal to their beloved team, much as they would stick with their alma mater even when they have a losing season, or as is frequently the case in the NFL, fraught with controversy. There are those who concern themselves with the issues [and I mean issues BEYOND the right-to-life] and vote a freeform ticket based on what candidate actually possesses skills, and then there’s the people that push the “R” or “D” candidate’s button as a show of solidarity.
I am a registered Libertarian, but this election I didn’t waste my time or my vote on a third-party candidate when I felt the outcome was so important.
Wagle killed the Barnett ticket, as did the fact that Barnett started out as a values candidate and only near the end started addressing people who weren’t KFL members.
Kline’s arrogance was his downfall. Almost an air of “You can’t NOT elect me, I kick ass for the Lord.”
Beemer? Well, other than the arrest for driving on suspended (which doesn’t really bother me) I was glad to see her lose because she is anti-porn, and thinks she needs to save me from porn. What does she think the largest subsegment of the entertainment industry is? It’s not “American Idol.”
Most of the rest of the stuff, I coulda gone either way. Sandy Praeger is not going to do horrible, manipulative things on any scale that will matter. I hope. Sharp, no real campaign that I could tell other than bus advertising. Woulda liked to see Judy Armstrong ace Ted Powers (almost did… lost by less than 100 votes) but that’s more of a home-team thing, she’s from my hometown.
At the end of the day, Clearwater got packaged liquor and a $2.00 surcharge for the EMS on the water bill, so when I get wasted and fall down and break my leg, I won’t have to pay $600 to go to the hospital. :) Packaged liquor has been contentious here as long as I have been alive, and I was frankly surprised it passed. The EMS thing would have gone back to the city council if neither proposal had passed, and I guarantee they would have found a way to make it WORSE than either alternative. Congrats to the ClearH20 people for not screwing themselves out of free volunteer ambulance service!
Anyhow, I’ve taken enough of your time, and now I’m gonna sit back, drink some coffee, and revel in the beauty of it all.
Hi Hank. Well, we went 1 and 1 last night so you owe $20. I’ll trust your honor that you will deliver to Gerard House (or Catholic Charities). Go ahead and keep the receipt for your taxes.
It’s a missconception that the voters voted out the Rebublicans. Give us some credit. We voted for the best candidate. I for one voted across party lines and have for all my life. I will not vote for someone for their political affiliation as much as I will vote against someone for their views or past performance no mater what their affiliation.
Kansas voters, I hope you realize what you have done by voting for Sebelius and Morrison. What you have done is given an implicit endorsement to Tiller the Killer and his baby-murder mill. Tiller the Killer kills more babies than any man in the world, and what he does after is sick: he baptizes the murdered baby, allows the mother, who agreed to kill the baby, to cradle the dead baby in her arms, and then creamtes the baby personally in his own creamatorium!
Tiller the Killer should be in El Dorado as BTK’s bunkmate, not killing innocent babies. This man is sick, and even you left-wing pro-choice zealots need to wake up and realize that what Tiller is doing is so sick that it defies comprehension.
Rachel, the Democrats don’t have a plan in Iraq! All their plan is to blame Bush for everything. And when we’re paying $4 for gas next summer and our taxes double, all of these people who voted Democrat will be kicking themselves for doing so…but they only have themselves to blame!
David, you lost. Recognize it.
Dennis, yes, the GOP may have lost, but the Democrats have no plan! Their plan is to cut and run in Iraq, and TS to the Iraqi people. The Democrats’ only idea was to blame Bush for eveything, unlike the GOP’s Contract With America.
Bush is responsible for the messes made over the last six years.Period.That’s why he gets the blame.Period.
Bitter–Table of one,YOUR CROW IS READY.
Tracy, and the Democrats’ plan to clean up the mess is….
(crickets chirping)
(crickets still chirping)
I’m waiting for an answer!
David;
Why do the Democrats have to have a plan for a war they didn’t start?Bush pushed us in to this mess. Now that his butt’s in a sling he wants the Democrats to bail him out. Hell, no! Now that the Democrats have control of the house and possibly control of the senate, look for ole George to come to the table with his hat in his hand. I hope the Democratswork that SOB over real good and take that smirk of his ugly mug. BTW: All what you say about gas being 4 dollars a gallon and taxes doubling ain’t gonna happen! What you say is all sour grapes!
Without legislative powers, all they can provide are generalizations. Here’s just a start!!
THE DEMOCRATIC PLAN
21st Century MilitaryTo Ensure Unparalleled Military Strength and Honor our Troops, we will:
Rebuild a state-of-the-art military by making the needed investments in equipment and manpower so that we can project power to protect America wherever and whenever necessary.
Guarantee that our troops have the protective gear, equipment, and training they need and are never sent to war without accurate intelligence and a strategy for success.
Enact a GI Bill of Rights for the 21st Century that guarantees our troops — active, reserve, and retired — our veterans, and their families receive the pay, health care, mental health services, and other benefits they have earned and deserve.
Strengthen the National Guard, in partnership with the nation’s Governors, to ensure it is fully manned, equipped and available to meet missions at home and abroad.
War on TerrorTo Defeat Terrorists and Stop the Spread of Weapons of Mass Destruction, we will:
Eliminate Osama Bin Laden, destroy terrorist networks like al Qaeda, finish the job in Afghanistan and end the threat posed by the Taliban.
Double the size of our Special Forces, increase our human intelligence capabilities, and ensure our intelligence is free from political pressure.
Eliminate terrorist breeding grounds by combating the economic, social, and political conditions that allow extremism to thrive; lead international efforts to uphold and defend human rights; and renew longstanding alliances that have advanced our national security objectives.
Secure by 2010 loose nuclear materials that terrorists could use to build nuclear weapons or “dirty bombs.”
Redouble efforts to stop nuclear weapons development in Iran and North Korea.
Homeland SecurityTo Protect America from Terrorism and Natural Disasters, we will:
Immediately implement the recommendations of the independent, bipartisan 9/11 Commission including securing national borders, ports, airports and mass transit systems.
Screen 100% of containers and cargo bound for the U.S. in ships or airplanes at the point of origin and safeguard America’s nuclear and chemical plants, and food and water supplies.
Prevent outsourcing of critical components of our national security infrastructure — such as ports, airports and mass transit — to foreign interests that put America at risk.
Provide firefighters, emergency medical workers, police officers, and other workers on the front lines with the training, staffing, equipment and cutting-edge technology they need.
Protect America from biological terrorism and pandemics, including the Avian flu, by investing in the public health infrastructure and training public health workers.IraqTo Honor the Sacrifice of Our Troops, we will:
Ensure 2006 is a year of significant transition to full Iraqi sovereignty, with the Iraqis assuming primary responsibility for securing and governing their country and with the responsible redeployment of U.S. forces.
Insist that Iraqis make the political compromises necessary to unite their country and defeat the insurgency; promote regional diplomacy; and strongly encourage our allies and other nations to play a constructive role.
Hold the Bush Administration accountable for its manipulated pre-war intelligence, poor planning and contracting abuses that have placed our troops at greater risk and wasted billions of taxpayer dollars.
Energy IndependenceTo Free America from Dependence on Foreign Oil, we will:
Achieve energy independence for America by 2020 by eliminating reliance on oil from the Middle East and other unstable regions of the world.
Increase production of alternate fuels from America’s heartland including bio-fuels, geothermal, clean coal, fuel cells, solar and wind; promote hybrid and flex fuel vehicle technology and manufacturing; enhance energy efficiency and conservation incentives.
Bitter–Table of one,YOUR CRICKETS ARE READY.
Tracy,You posted that before, and again I ask what is different in the Dem’s policy on Iraq and what the administration is doing today?
David – we waited years for the republicans plan for the war. I think you could at least wait until the democrats have some power before demanding that they fix everything your idiots screwed up.
Need more, super Dave?
(crickets still chirping)
I’m waiting for an answer!
What a day this has been, what a rare mood I’m in.
But this isn’t love, it’s our democracy behaving the way it should to protect the rights of the people. I thought it was too broken to fix (with all of the voting scams which are a documented reality) but the people proved me wrong.
I cannot wait to see how our elected officials roll up their sleeves and start fixing the crap hole our country’s in, but
Lots of it is different.Go through it line item.
THIS will be day long remembered. We have seen the end of the neocons. The religious right has also been defanged. The better of ITS members voted for the party that does good works. The rest of them, like David, will now reveal themselves even more as the self righteous kooks that they are.
I’m proud to say I didn’t vote for any of this crap, and at least the Big First is still represented by a Republican!
JR, I am not a religious zealot, but I do not believe that babies should be murdered just because they are not born, I don’t believe that we can cut and run in Iraq, I believe in lower taxes, less government, and most of all, energy independence, something we will never get with the environmental kooks in power.
Ensure 2006 is a year of significant transition to full Iraqi sovereignty, with the Iraqis assuming primary responsibility for securing and governing their country and with the responsible redeployment of U.S. forces.
We have been doing this since their elections. They don’t seem to want to fight for themselves.
Insist that Iraqis make the political compromises necessary to unite their country and defeat the insurgency; promote regional diplomacy; and strongly encourage our allies and other nations to play a constructive role.
Politics amongst terrorists. That will be a neat trick.
What good have the Democrats done JR? Your last president enacted the biggest tax increase in American history and lied to a grand jury! And the one before him…his list of failures is far too long to mention.
Stein–CLUE.
If you have to use a microscope to find it,it ain’t a baby!
Tracy,Its put up or shut up time. Y’all have control of the congress and senate. So lets see the Dem’s work their magic.
The Republican Contract with America? Actions speak louder than words, David. It should read Contract ON America, because that’s what they’ve done to you.
All of a sudden gas will go to $4 a gallon? Take a look at what it’s done since 2001, when Bush stepped into office. It has nearly doubled. And you blame the Democrats for that? Good luck with that, David.
The voters in South Dakota have spoken regarding abortion.
The voters in Arizona have spoken regarding gay marriage. (Sorry. You missed that issue in your sightless rant.)
The voters in the USA have spoken. Many of them much louder than you. Live with it. You’ve been living with much worse for the past 6 years.
Why don’t you righties bring ANYTHING planned from the GOP.Then we can compare.
Tracy,Clue, aren’t you glad your parents didn’t feel that way?
David – our best route to energy independence is to find alternatives to oil. And that will only happen if we cut our ties to Halliburton, Exxon, etc. Wind will be part of that; also improved efficiency. That will never happen if we continue to let the environment-hating kooks stay in power.
It was your guy who ignored all advice and went into Iraq with no plan for the aftermath. He followed the advice of the PNAC kooks and look what it got us.
I hope ALL those kooks get tossed out.
People overwhelmingly obviously voted for change. That’s fine and as a proud American I will respect that.I just hope the change is something other than less of it in my pocket.
Historians rate Bush:Clue: 81% unfavorable.
http://hnn.us/articles/5019.html
BTW Sol, my parents didn’t adopt a snowflake.
KIA, “Ask not what my country can do for me….
I’m with you Tracy. We just differ on how that’s accomplished. As a relative newbie and not knowing the historicals on the blog, I’m sure most of you gave Republicans and Bush policies a chance in the last 2-6 yrs.Now it’s my turn.
Tracy,I take it you were adopted then. Bully. Made my point for me.
a) your Biological parents were responsible enough not to kill you, no matter if you were microscopicb) There are parents out there that would love to adopt “unwanted” children
“We have been doing this since their elections. They don’t seem to want to fight for themselves.”
Just goes to show that you can’t force democracy on a country determined to be run by religion. You can’t HAVE a democracy in a country run by religion.
Freedom, which includes religious freedom, is what the Constitution was founded on.
Be warned. If the US should be foolish enough to allow itself to be run by Christianity, war will break out between the different sects. Baptists will fight Methodists will fight Lutherans will fight Catholics, and so on. History has proven this. Iraq and the other countries of the Middle East are currently proving it.
I am not anti-Christian, anymore than I am anti-Jewish, anti-Muslim, or anti-Atheist. Faith is what often keeps people going through the hardest of times. But when Faith is legislated by a government to force all to comply with one type, that government will fall.
Sol, I responded to your abortion rant in another post that I came too when most had moved on. I will reprise that here. If you take the long view on pro-life you come back to the implementation of policies that reduce poverty. Here is what I said:
”
Ian, people aren’t dogs (at least most of them aren’t).
Love Farmgirl’s responses (when I’m not on the receiving end!)
Poor ol’ SoldevVB didn’t see it coming.
Well, my problem with the pro-life stance is that it wants to make cancerous skin lesion go away by putting a band-aide on it.
Talk all you want about pro-life, but until you address the issue of poverty then you’re trotting this issue out to energize your base (kind of like using gay marriage as a lightning rod).
On 9/11 over 3000 people were killed in a horrible terrorist attack on the shores of America. But that day another 10 to 15 k children died of starvation in 3′rd world countries. The next day we were stunned and then got angry and another 10 to 15 k died of starvation.
In fact every day from that day til this one 10 to 15 k children have died of starvation in this world.
Do the numbers and tell me how much you care for life when the folk on the right have a full fledged undeclared war on the middle class for the sake of their free market and profits(read Thom Hartmann’s book Screwed).
The fact is that there is plenty of fully formed life here that we can fight for.
The numbers tell the tale. The economy went south (for the middle class) and poverty went up and guess what! You have more abortions.
Your pro life stance is not true. It’s an anti-abortion stance that doesn’t give a happy damned for the quality of the life it saves when it get’s here!
I cannot get with this.
True pro-life is anti-poverty starting here and promoting abroad . The band aid of saving a life by not letting a mother who cannot (and who in fact might not at all) care for the child abort it is anti-life because statistics say that the life you’re saving for the poor will likely be a troubled one (with more abortions on the horizon).
We cannot control what people do with their bodies(right or wrong, irresponsible sex and legal or illegal, abortion still happens), but we can control the economy and while poverty will probably always be with us, if we take it on, it can be reduced.
So here I go, back to my spiel on getting us back to the liberal, democratic policies on which the middle class we’re living was built by the greatest president this country has even known FDR. Progressive taxation, Social Security, anti-trust, Union support, etc…
If you want abortions down this is the only pro-life stance that will work.”
Sol,
Are you adopted? I am. If my birthmother had chosen to abort me, so be it.
We need more polling places in Sedgwick County! When I voted at 9 a.m., I, along with many elderly people, had to wait in a long line. If the line was that long in mid-morning, what was it like at busier times?
kansassam,
I bought gas this morning at the same price it was yesterday, so I don’t know what happened to you.
I saw the ticker tape thing on C-Span last night about the higher stock market and lower oil price. The (very short) explanation was the forthcoming balance of power in congress.
As a matter of fact, I did mention to several people last night (not here on the blog) that I expected the price to go up today. For spite.
Did anyone see the lady who was in the Eagle today that said she only voted for pro-life candidates? Does she understand that her pro-life candidates can’t and won’t change anything? What a wasted vote.
RD,If you don’t care whether you were born or not, eat a bullet. so be it.
Tracy,
The ends justify the means. Because there are third world countries out there that can’t get there shit together, kill kids in the USA. Yup, sounds like sound judgment to me.
We should, though, pick this up on a different thread, or off line.
Congrats to the liberal Kansians. Hope your elected officials work out for you.
Hey, an old joke… Know what keeps Texas from falling into the Gulf of Mexico? That’s shows you how much Kansas sucks.
Just a joke guys, bet you have more than a few about Texans too.
Congratulations guys. Hope it works out well for you.
Hey, folks, I hate to a wet blanket, but assuming that VA and MT go Dem (and I think they will), I agree with Tom Tommorrow: This is the grim reality of the new Senate:
“Too soon this morning to know if the Democrats have eked out a razor-thin margin in the Senate, but if they have, it is dependent upon Sean Hannity’s best friend, Joe Lieberman. Which means the Republicans are still one vote up in everything pertaining to the war, torture, eavesdropping, etc.”
http://thismodernworld.com/3310
Don’t get me wrong–anything that provides a check against this power-mad admin is a good thing–and I suspect Lieberman may sniff which way the wind is blowing.
BTW, kudos to my fellow Arizonans for electing Gabby Giffords and defeating its own Hate Amendment!
P.S. Hey, I was right! Ryun got his clock cleaned! Yeehaw!
Not really rage. There are a number of Republicans (for example Snowe) who are not 100% on Bush’s side on these issues.
Yeah, you’re right, hmmm…, that’s a good point. I guess we’ll what comes out in the wash.
Oh, crap, I gotta |doing| that. . .
Preview? What’s that?
Sol, don’t break down now man.No, I’m not adopted.Just making my point about stem cells and fertility clinics.I’m no bully for having an opinion.Furthermore, I’m done debating abortion.Abortion=bad.Embryonic cell research=good.End of debate, and yesterday’s votes say that my views are mainstream.
Tracy,
Bully = Way To Go, wasn’t saying you were a playground bully.
Also, I was saying that abortion is getting tired and doesn’t belong on this thread.
So now that the dems control the house and senate, how soon can we expect a withdrawl from Iraq?
So I won’t get tagged as a sore loser, congratulations to the libs out there. I was only surprised that the Senate didn’t hold.
This how I see it. Politics is a game that you win if you are able to convince a few more folks, by hook or crook or circumstances, to vote for your candidate than the other side is able to. It does nothing to validate anyone’s ideas. This time, the 51% is on your side. Next time, it may be the reverse. This one was primarily an Iraq war vote.
Ideas will continue to be argued. And it will be fun for conservative bloggers to play offense for a change. Nancy Pelosi, Charlie Rangel, John Conyers, Ted Kennedy. Let the madness begin!
“If you don’t care whether you were born or not, eat a bullet. so be it.”
Christian compassion?
kansassam,
You were right. Gas DID jump here, too. I just got lucky and slid in under the wire…for a change.
Let’s hope this yo-yo-ing stops soon. It takes one day to jump 10-15 cents per gallon, and 2 weeks to trickle back down.
Ridiculous.
RD, isn’t it rediculous?
I think the whole religious right Christian with a sword, doing jack for the poor thing is such a contradiction to the Jesus I’ve read about in the bible in every sense.
This guy Sol, cannot possibly be the real deal with some of the things he’s said to folk on this board.
I guess really it just means that he’s sinning and needs to repent.
Don’t we all.
The sky is the LOVELIEST shade of BLUE today aint it?
I heard a poll somewhere that a lot of Evangelicals like 35% said they were voting for the party that actually tries to help people and switched from Repbulicans to Dems.
I’ll join outlander. Congratulations to the libs. My side will have to do better next time. I know we blew it by spending too much (against conservative principles) and a few other things (damn war)Here’s a good hearted “Death to the Libs” in ‘08 (if we could only come up with someone worth a shit to run).
It’s a great day for America! To all my Democrat friends on these threads, I offer my congratulations; it was a hard-fought battle. You deserve this victory. America has been won back for Americans.
hotlick,I really wish you wouldn’t paint people with such a wide brush. If supporting right to carry and opposing partial birth abortion makes me a liberal in your eyes, so be it.But I’m a Democrat primarily because, as a small businessman, Republican attitudes toward business are, well, anti-business… at least anti-MY business.Sadly, Dingell as chair of Commerce and Energy is bad news for my industry.
Just want you libs to notice though, the lack of whining and crying and blaming of voting machines, or long lines, or Diebold, or whoever. No talk of sending 10,000 lawyers out to challenge the results. No impuning of our country’s electoral process.
Not only can conservatives show you how to win, we can show you how to lose with a little class. Try to remember it. Because your time is coming again, hopefully sooner than later.
JR if that’s true then those guys are looking for true religion. the niv(New International Version) says it this way:
James 1:27 Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.
mr c-If you are not a lib, I wasn’t talking to you. You only got what you deserved with Dingal.
Outlander, the knock on the e-voting machines isn’t just spin on th election, that’s real. On Google there are links about it.
I hope as a part of Pelosi’s pledge to make this “the most honest, the most open and the most ethical Congress in history” a part of that will be banning private enterprise from our public elections for all time.
Also your guy has an “army of lawyers” going down to Virginia to count provisional ballots and do anything and everything (within the law (chuckle)) to claim victory from defeat there.
I would too if I were him, but he’s not throwing in the towel and I don’t call that whining.
“No talk of sending 10,000 lawyers out to challenge the results.”
We shall see – with Virginia.
In response to Outlander…
Kudos to the majority of the conservatives/republicans here on the blog. You’re being very sane and very adult about losing those seats in congress. Of course they can be won back again, but it will depend on how the dems handle things in the next two years.
I know I’m not the only liberal/democrat here who intends to keep an eye on our new representatives. We do expect accountability across the board. We will speak up if we see or hear things that are wrong. You can count on it.
RD YES, I expect them to continue in the vein that they’ve been going. To not go after the president (even though they have every reason too) and go for the high road which means proposing and getting a lot done on their to do list to say hey look what we did when we got the chance to lead.
Also kudo’s here on the good sportsmanship, but your guys played dirty all along the way and we did not(both sides had negative adds, but even your dirty adds were filled with fear mongering and racism and were introduced to dredge up the most deep-seeded hatred in the hearts of your own constituents). I think for folk in my party class is just an expectation not anything special.
These next 2 years we’re going to show you what we believe and who and what is worth fighting for.
I will add that I want to see Congressional oversight of the administration and investigation into what happened along the way to the quagmire. But NOT impeachment. Let’s not do what the Republicans did.
Oops, okay I see Rhonda is one of the “authors” of this forum. Sorry my newbieness is still showing.
I’ll work on that.
Can you delete an errant post here?
This morning was wonderful my fellow liberals. I walked out my door to take my dog for his morning walk and it was nice. Not too warm and not too cold. The first thing I heard wasn’t my dog barking at field mice but birds chirping (very cliché I know). Then I went to work. I walked into my building and toward my cube and the very first person I see is a loud and proud repuke with one hell of a scowl on his face. HE WAS SULKING!!!! Moping around like school boy turned down for a date. A freaking engineer and he was pouting like a little school girl! I got to my cubical and another of the repukes was also grumpy. It was funny. Later I was in a meeting with a potential contractor and another of these loud and proud pukes is there, and he is making comments about Pelosi. Comments about things he doesn’t know a jack about and don’t belong in a business meeting. And while this is going on a random thought crossed my mind. What an appropriate commentary on repukes that not only do they not understand the issues fully, but they don’t even have the professionalism to keep their damn mouths shut. This sums up most repukes I have had to deal with in the last few years and I would guess also most of them on this blog. The nimrod was so clueless and blinded by anger that he didn’t notice the person we were meeting with had an expression on his face to the extent of ‘You f###ing moron.’
hmmmm…
I like your idea to dig up the mess on Bush and co even if we don’t use it (which as long as things are getting done going well we shouldn’t).
That info could also be a bargaining chip to help this administration cooperate in a bi-partisan manner now that it has too.
But just for the record, if there is sufficient evidence for impeachment, it would be justified in every sense. For the lives that have been lost/taken, the tax payer’s money(yours, mine, your and my children’s and grand children’s) that has been spent(more at re-allocated to Cheney’s wealthy friends), and the sheer incompetence involved IF IT WAS ALL BASED ON LIES…. Bush would deserve death and his tenure to be a black stain in the history of our country forever. What Clinton did versus what GW if they came about or were protected by lies aren’t even comparable.
Now If after 6 months the dems’re getting blocked and railroaded on important legislation so that they won’t be seen as effective, I say let em have it with both barrels.
hmmm…., The republikans impeached Clinton for political purposes. Nothing more, nothing less. If bush gets impeached it will be for actual crimes.
David Steinle, are you stupid????“I don’t believe that we can cut and run in Iraq”Keep drinking the kool-aid son. If you would have paid attention you would know that while the Dems don’t want to stay in Iraq they aren’t in favor of pulling out immediately either. They realize the repukes have created a hell of a mess and by leaving immediately ignores our responsibilities to the Iraqi people.“I believe in lower taxes, less government….”While this administration has lowered taxes it was mainly for the wealthy. If you make less than 150K a year you will not be helped by these tax breaks. Government has expanded more under bush in his first term than it did under 2 terms of Clinton.
“…and most of all, energy independence, something we will never get with the environmental kooks in power.”
Energy independence is not something we will get as long as the current administration stays the course. They have a pitiful record concerning energy independence and what makes you think they will do anything about it? The environmental kooks are the people pushing for alternative energy sources. Alternative energy is the way for true energy independence. Generating the energy our country uses by means other than oil renders the Middle East irrelevant. That is true energy independence.
A correction to my last post. If you own stocks you will be helped by the tax breaks. My bad.
k, I would suggest any impeachment proceeding of a sitting president is, IMHO, always political; in fact, I would argue that divorced of politics, the Constitutional provisions for impeachment and conviction really make little sense.
SolDevVB, What makes you think Tracy’s parents didn’t feel that way? Because he is alive? That is the type of moronic logic the Democratic majority will do away with. Tracy is here to share his wisdom and insights not because his parents don’t believe in abortion but because his parents WANTED to have a child. He is a fine man because his parents were responsible, not because they didn’t believe in abortion.
This is why we need Democrats in power. If you were born and raised with your head located somewhere other than up your ass you would know this. Democrats have, and always will, stand for better education so we don’t have morons like you. Or at the very least you will know better than to make an ass of yourself on public forums with lies and moronic logic.
k, let no ignorance go unaddressed.
Ask rhetorical questions to get ignoramuses to think.
I really believe that there is some reconciliation in understanding issues.
At some point you will undoubtedly encounter the idealogical differences, but you can even educate to these.
As for the sulking. After Kerry lost in 04, on the train in my city (probably the most democratic in the nation), it was downright depressing and that day I know of at least one colleague who was too depressed to come in to work. Come to think of it, I wasn’t feeling to hot myself.
I think what gets my goat most is those who disavow any type of participation in the voting process because it’s “corrupt.”So, at least your ignoramuses care.
/getting off of soap box
ps: don’t mean to sound down on you in any way at all, I guess it’s just my way of doing things which of course everybody thinks their way is best.
Vaughn Tolle
But what about when an actual crime has been committed? Something like what happened to Clinton was political (IMO) because he lied about a question that should not have been asked and was completely irrelevant to the investigation. So what about if we find out that bush (hypothetically of course) manipulated and lied about the intelligence in Iraq, that he had all intentions of invading regardless of the consequences? He ordered the invasion of a sovereign nation under false pretenses and through his actions has caused 2800+ US soldiers to be killed and tens of thousands to be wounded. Through his actions he has caused tens of thousands of Iraqi people to be murdered. He has violated both US and international law. Would an impeachment under these conditions be purely political or would it be bringing a criminal to justice? Why or why not?
Technically, the impeachment of President Clinton was for, inter alia, perjury; a crime. I feel that only one Presidential impeachment proceeding was, in fact, purely politically based, that of Andrew Johnson.
The scenario you lay out sounds, to me, to be political, not criminal. Going to war under false pretenses, e.g., is not a violation of any law of the U.S. of which I am aware. Lying to the public, so long as not under oath (:)) is not a crime.
The Constitution does, indeed, require commission of “high crimes and misdemeanors” as a condition precedent for impeachment. However, it is my imperfect understanding that the term “high crimes and misdemeanors” means whatever the House of Representative says it does in the particular case in question. This thought is not original with me; I stole it from my Constitutional Law Profesor. He also said that to determine the meaning of “high crimes and misdemeanors” it was necessary to consult 18th Century English Common Law to divine the meaning of the term; he assured the class that it didn’t mean “misdemeanors” or minor crimes as the term is used today.
You note I do not address your query about hypothetical violations of international law, as I am not versed in the same. However, classmates of mine who took the course used to joke that international law was whatever someone thought it is, based upon language of treaties, etc.
I know the above is likely not a satisfactory response to your question, but it’s the best I can do for now.
ademforsure, You make very good points. While I did not like the outcome of the 2004 election and I though bush was the worst person for the job, I wasn’t going to sulk about it. It is over, the damage has been done and there was little that could be done about it until the next election. Sulking takes time away from more productive things like educating yourself and getting the facts out, or spending time with friends and family you still love (even if they voted wrong). It saps your energy so there is nothing left for the joys you still enjoy. The unofficial motto of my first unit while I was in the Air Force was ‘Adapt and overcome’ (this may be the motto of many units for all I know). Although I have been out for 10 years now I have learned that ‘Adapt and overcome’ is more of a mindset and not just a motto. It is a mindset that says even if the entire world is against me, I will NEVER surrender! Life goes on with or without you, and the greatest capability we have is that we get to choose which way it will pass us by.
Although there was this one girl who broke up with me………
