Kansans voted, and national media noticed

It’s nice to be noticed and all, but it would be nicer if the national media would lose the cliches when it discusses Kansas. This week has seen both the Washington Post and USA Today assure readers that Rep.-elect Nancy Boyda isn’t in Kansas anymore. At least in evoking the oft-quoted line “What’s the Matter With Kansas?” on Wednesday, a New York Times editorial headlined “What’s Right With Kansas” had only good things to say, especially about the “resounding defeat of Attorney General Phill Kline, an anti-abortion zealot who gained national notoriety by misusing his office to further his ideology.”
All in all, the Times editorial concluded, “Kansas — lately considered the reddest of red states — emerged from the election as a bastion of moderation.”

Reddest of the Red states, no wonder we were called ‘Bleeding Kansas’.

Where is the LA Times or Pravda in all this?

Rhonda, when kansas republicans stop living up to the cliches, then I suppose others will stop using them. A prime example would be fleetwood’s post prior to mine.

Last time I looked, the Kansas House was 79 to 46 Republican and the Kansas Senate was 30 to 10 Republican. Now that is a “bastion of moderation”.Dopes.

We live in upside-down-land. I am old enough to remember what Red used to mean: Communist. In the Communist (Red) countries, a few enriched themselves on the backs of the many. So maybe “Red” hasn’t changed its true meaning, after all.

Good question Fleettwood: “Where is the FAUX NEWS or NewsMax in all this?”

Fox News aren’t pissing all over themselves trying to make the election something that it wasn’t. That’s the job of the Usual Suspects. Washington Post, NY Times, USA today, LA Times, Wichita Eagle.

“Last time I looked, the Kansas House was 79 to 46 Republican and the Kansas Senate was 30 to 10 Republican. Now is that a “bastion of moderation?”

Wishful thinking. This is still Kansas, not Rhode Island.

“Tracy is one of the best posters on this blog.” Sure – if you always agree with him.

However, he’s quick to refer to those that DO NOT agree with him as stupid, dumb, “a GOP shill”,[fill in your favorite pejorative noun here].

    I wouldn’t call that “wise”.

Here is a second vote for Tracy, GolfNutz. His posts are always informed and insightful. Funny, too.

He’s not nearly as good as I am (sarcasm), but he’s damned good.

I’ll take one Tracy over a thousand (million) Ians any day.

I wondered on another thread if “kansasman” was a troll.

I have no doubts now (”tracy@yahoo.com,” hahaha, so funny).

Try expressing an idea of your own, kansasnil, assuming you can do that. You might like it.

Tracy is one of the best posters on this blog. Smart and funny and short posts.

I think calling him stupid is a great way to show us how humor impaired you are.

I truely think he is the funniest guy on the blog. And frequently, one of the wisest among the real reality based community.

    OK

Now I KNOW she likes to have the last word!

What I have to cast a vote in defense of Tracy?

    I note aye.

Though…..in the face of no names like kansasman? and Goofball I really shouldn’t need to bother.

That’s like noting the difference between a fine wine and a bottle of “Night Train” a no-brainer.

He hides his pearls of wisdom in sarcastic humor in a get to the point kinda way. He’s very intelligent and is one of the few here that I would want in my corner if I needed backup.(mwah!big sloppy kiss Trace.)
