It’s been a great few days for topical comedy, what with Donald Rumsfeld and Kevin Federline both getting the hook. But now what? “Not since Oct. 10, 1973 — when Vice President Spiro T. Agnew [in photo] resigned just hours after Elvis and Priscilla Presley unplugged their marriage — has topical humor received such a body blow,” wrote Hart Seely in a Los Angeles Times commentary. Reflecting on the previous departures of John Ashcroft and Tom Ridge, Seely also mourned the passing from the limelight of George Allen, Mark Foley and “that congressman in Pennsylvania who denied choking his mistress.” Joke tellers will just have to mine what they can from Dick Cheney, John Kerry, Hillary Clinton, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid.

As long as Bush is in office, the comedians will never run out of jokes.
Letterman just replays portions of Bush talking, unedited in a segment called “great moments in presidential speeches.”
Since the thousands dead in the war though, Bush has become rather a sick joke . . .
the whole repuklican party is a joke with Haggard and Foley following right behind their frat party drunk leader
Yeah, Pam, President Bluto (as a friend of mine refers to him) will be able to provide enough material for the satirists, unfortunately at a very high cost.
Comedians have always been attacking politicians. It’s practically a law. There are almost always something to dig at for comedy. In my opinion the level is very different with this administration. The joke is on us, and its not a laughing matter.
