Brownback still talking like a presidential prospect

When Sen. Sam Brownback, R-Kan., spoke to an Associated Press reporter Monday, he sure sounded as if he’s still planning to run for president in 2008, poor showing in early opinion polls and all. “I think there’s room for a full-scale Ronald Reagan conservative in the field,” he said. “I fully agree that other people have much higher name identification than I do. No question about that. But I think what you have to look at is the policy positions they get out once you have an effective campaign.” As for whether the GOP’s loss of Congress this month will affect his decision: “I really believe that the basic conservative ideas and ideals were not repudiated. Our execution was.” He promises a final decision next month. Maybe then he’ll say more about the source of his optimism.

I’m here to tell ya that Sam (the Sham) Brownback is gonna be a factor in 2008. His polling today runs in the single digits, even among evangelical conservatives, but with the demise of Allen and the hate that the twice-born have for McCain and Rudy, combined with Iowa’s farmers and Holy Rollers (who voted for Pat Robertson in ‘86), (yer doin’ a heckuva job) Brownie is poised to be the GOP’s Darkhorseman of the Apocolypse.

Brownback is crazy as a hoot owl but when did that ever stop the faction of the GOP coalition heaven-bent on enacting a King James Version of the Constitution of the United States?

Yogi Berra once said, “Predictions are tough, especially when they involve the future,” but mark my words: it won’t just be Red vs. Blue in 2008, there’s gonna be some Brown.

Kansans keep on electing Brownback merely as a means to keep him out of Kansas. Why does Brownback think our country needs another spend happy war monger who preaches religion while bombs fall on children? We need Brownback for President as much as Connie Morris needs another taxpayer paid vacation.

I don’t see Brownback’s campaign ever getting off the ground. Mitt Romney (Mass guv) has the inside track to fill the role of conservative alternative to Rudy and McCain. Some think that being a Mormon will be a handicap for Romney. Maybe a little, but his positives will make it irrelevant. There is a very good chance that he will be the Republican nominee.

No way Rudy will get it (a social liberal) and McCain is a tired old face, kind of like Dole was when he ran against Clinton.

Brownback should stop this silliness. Total waste of time and energy.

Brownback is certainly no Ronald Reagan … not even close. Remember Reagan was a fairly successful governor of California. He had name recognition as a movie star. Experience either in the military or assisting military efforts making war effort movies.

Brownback never held a significant private sector job. Certainly wasn’t governor. Dodged the military by going to law school.

Sorry but I think Brownback is in it for the Federal Government hand-out to presidential candidates … and I’m a moderate Republican.

In the photo above, Brownback may as well be saying:

“And I can pull a full 5 points at least!”

The last election was a reminder Sam. America is not and never will be a theocracy.

As a confirmed liberal, I think that Brownback would be an excellent candidate for the Republicans to run as President in 2008.

    Excellent candidate for the Repubs.

Then virtually ANY Democrat would win in a landslide.

I am casting my vote now – Obama/Clark.

I hope the Christian Conservatives do break off from the GOP and run Sam Brownback for president. This is one sure way to get rid of both of theme for the next several years.

Does anyone think Brownback is borderline sane? The reporter for Rolling Stones Magazine who did a story on Browback mentioned how Sam would call him all hours of the night just to tell him he loves him. He also wants to abolish the government except for a religious moral police (like they have in Saudi Arabia) who will enforce restrictions on sex behavior. Essentially he wants to make it a crime for unmarried people to have sex.

This is the guy whose major act was to go after Janet Jackson’s nipple. He also lives in a cult compound. The guy is just crazed. Why do people vote for him?
