Attorney General Phill Kline ended his first repulsive ad about an old, unproven sexual harassment allegation against his opponent with the words “to be continued.” He wasn’t kidding. His latest repulsive 30-second spot features an unseen Kelly Summerlin discussing the 15-year-old alleged incident as the words “actual sexual harassment victim speaking” are on screen. “He’s ruthless,” she says of former boss Paul Morrison — which will just serve to remind many voters of another ad in which that word is used to praise the Johnson County district attorney for how tough he is on criminals. What is Kline thinking?

I use to think that Kline was ok. Maybe not the best AG we can get, but good enough.
There are issues I disagree with that he holds true as his own convictions. That is fine. I like that in a person. But going negative against a formidable and very competent candidate who is much better than you are (creditals, crediability, experience), it’s like he just swinging in the air desperate to get a punch, but he has long been knocked out.

outlander - for the sake of arguement lets suppose that the issues you point to are the issues around which this campaign should turn. Tell me then, why does Kline avoid them? Why all the attention to a 15-year-old never-substantiated allegation?
In a way this reminds me of Rush’s isiocy with Michael J Fox. If Rush had acknowledged Fox and then gone after the message then the ensuing discussion would have focused on the stem-cell issue. Instead, Rush made the conscious deliberate decision to ‘play-act’ Fox’s symptoms. As a result, the ensuing discussion wasw dominated by that.
If Kline has substantive issues upon which to run, let him use them. But as long as he relies on this unsubstantiated smokescreen, it will backfire on him.

If you allow the AG to go rummaging through the records of Tiller, whats to prevent him to run through the records of Westly or Via Christi, looking for what ever? It is illegal to invade someones medical records, that is FEDERAL law, regulated by the HIPPA act.
Kline was breaking FEDERAL law when he attempted to invade medical record privacy. End of story.
The rest of the normal world cares about ethics and record. It says something about Morrison when Attorneys who are contributing to his campaign more than 10 to 1 over Kline.
What really happened at that bar? Let’s speculate - since that is all any of this is. Kelly Summerlin got drunk. SHE made a pass at Morrison. SHE then got upset since he spurned her advances; explaining that he was happily married. SHE then continued to pursue him. In doing so she alienated all of her co-workers. That is why she was fired.

Outlandish: Get the facts straight: the names on medical records requested by Kline were only redacted because the court instructed them to be! One more in a series of courtroom defeats for Kline. We need an attorney general who will win cases for the people, not lose cases for his own vendettas! Get rid of the loser, Kline: vote for Morrison!

I think Morrison is a relatively smart attorney.
I give most people the benefit of the doubt on RICO Act law and KKK Act law.
However, Morrison is running on his LEGAL experience. If Morrion thinks any PRE- FACE act Federal judgements against anti abortion protesters are valid, then Morrison is incompetent. The Freedom of Access to Clinics laws were passed precisely because KKK act and RICO act injunctions were not allowed anymore, after court rulings overturned those injunctions and judgements.
I think Morrison is a fairly good attorney, but a dishonest attorney. Morrison knows the truth but he repeatedly lies about it.
Bryan Brown does not owe any fines and Morrison lies about it!

I’m from Johnson County where Paul Morrison is the D.A. Before you bash Kline further you should see the press release of Ms. Summerlin. Morrison was challenged in K.C. Metro and by a Topeka Radio station to call her press release a lie. He was painted and he knew it. He got upset and refused to answer direct questions.Go find her press release. You can google her name or the attorney assigned to release it, Scott Hattrup. It’s pretty compelling.
By the way, if Morrison was not attempting adultery with this woman, he should crush Kline with ads that request an apology much like Bush did with Kerry. Seen any requestsfrom Morrison for an apology. Read the press release, it changed my mind about Morrison. If you’re a woman you should wonder… What is more likely to happen to you, an abortion or sexual harassment. I’d worry about the latter and Phill Kline will definitely help you there.
