Quote of the Day:
“I am a most unhappy man. I have unwittingly ruined my country. A great industrial nation is controlled by its system of credit. Our system of credit is concentrated. The growth of the nation, therefore, and all our activities are in the hands of a few men.(Jews) We have come to be one of the worst ruled, one of the most completely controlled and dominated Governments in the civilized world no longer a Government by free opinion, no longer a Government by conviction and the vote of the majority, but a Government by the opinion and duress of a small group of dominant men.” Woodrow Wilson

My Spanish-Aryan pea brain figured this out a long time ago, but these Harvard eggheads are only now coming to the same conclusion? oy vay
Research finds inverse relationship between racial diversity and social cohesion
A bleak picture of the corrosive effects of ethnic diversity has been revealed in research by Harvard University’s Robert Putnam, one of the world’s most influential political scientists.
His research shows that the more diverse a community is, the less likely its inhabitants are to trust anyone–from their next-door neighbor to the mayor.
This is a contentious finding in the current climate of concern about the benefits of immigration. Professor Putnam told the Financial Times he had delayed publishing his research until he could develop proposals to compensate for the negative effects of diversity, saying it “would have been irresponsible to publish without that”.
The core message of the research was that, “in the presence of diversity, we hunker down”, he said. “We act like turtles. The effect of diversity is worse than had been imagined. And it’s not just that we don’t trust people who are not like us. In diverse communities, we don’t trust people who do look like us.”
Prof Putnam found trust was lowest in Los Angeles, “the most diverse human habitation in human history”, but his findings also held for rural South Dakota, where “diversity means inviting Swedes to a Norwegians’ picnic”.
When the data were adjusted for class, income and other factors, they showed that the more people of different races lived in the same community, the greater the loss of trust. “They don’t trust the local mayor, they don’t trust the local paper, they don’t trust other people and they don’t trust institutions,” said Prof Putnam. “The only thing there’s more of is protest marches and TV watching.”Full articleSource: Financial Timeshttp://www.nationalvanguard.org/story.php?id=10332

Things look to be going well for the Dems in next month’s elections. What’s my basis for judgment, poll numbers? No, debates. C-SPAN is doing a tremendout public service showing congressional and gubernatorial debates around the country. Democrats have ideas. Good ideas. They are showing a greater understanding of problems, and problem-solving measures, than their Republican opponents. For example, on Islamic terrorism, the Democrats understand that achieving energy independence, which is to say stopping the generation of Middle Easterners’ resentment of the U.S.’s theft of Middle East oil,by developing our own ginormous resources and achieving energy independence will end the problem. This isn’t of freedom-loving Americans being attacked by anti-freedom-loving Arabs, it’s a matter of exploiters being attacked by people who feel they are being victimied. There is no question that Westerners knew about oil and how to extract it, and primitive Arabs did not, so the Arabs would not have discovered the wealth under their feet at the time we did, but now, knowing it exists, they feel it belongs to them, not us. So, fine, let them have it. We don’t need their oil. It’s convenient to suck it out, and highly profitable to the controlling parties, but the cost to us ordinary Americans is loss of our freedoms, destruction of our Bill of Rights, being manipulated into an unnecessary fear state, egregiously gross domestic political corruption, and a contrived transfer of American jobs to Asia under an uber-capitalist ideology that cheapest labor is best labor, because it generates the highest riches to a small plutocracy.
Most Americans are descendants of people who rejected these things. They rejected an aristocracy who continuously manipulated them with false propaganda. They rejected living under a continuous fear state. They rejected aristocrats’ schemes that forced them to surrender their productive capacities to aristocrats for the aristocrats’ personal enrichment. That actually made them less productive: why work hard if your extra effort’s fruit is just going to be appropriated by somebody else?
And, BTW, it would have been nice if the Eagle and local TV channels had lobbied incessantly for a debate between Todd Tiahrt and his challenger Garth McGuinn, and excoriated Mr. Tiahrt until he agreed to debate his opponent on local TV. I guess it’s a testament to South-Central Kansas’s feudality that this didn’t happen. Fortunately, a lot of the rest of America is much more advanced, and enlightened enough to make politicians debate one another for the public to witness.

ROBERT GREENWALD DOCUMENTARY “IRAQ FOR SALE” TO BE SHOWN FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC IN WICHITA
You probably remember a few of Robert Greenwald’s other movies such as “Outfoxed” and “WalMart: The High Cost of Low Price.” In “Iraq for Sale,” Robert takes you inside the lives of soldiers, truck drivers, widows and children who have been changed forever as a result of profiteering in the reconstruction of Iraq. The film uncovers the connections between private corporations making a killing in Iraq and the decision makers who let it happen.

http://www.corpwatch.org/article.php?id=13874Iraq After Halliburton
by Pratap Chatterjee, Special to CorpWatchJuly 12thThe Pentagon has taken an important first step by canceling the contract for Halliburton ’s military logistics contract in Iraq and putting it up for open bid. Halliburton has only itself to blame for shoddy managment, over-charging and thumbing its nose at military investigators. In our three alternative annual reports on Halliburton , CorpWatch has uncovered innumerable cases of incompetence and corruption: for example torching brand-new $85,000 Mercedes trucks and charging $100 for a bag of laundry.
U.S. taxpayers have paid Halliburton some $20 billion for such work supporting the administration’s “war on terrorism” over the last five years. At the end of the day, they have been cheated out of hundreds of millions of dollars in unsupported costs and overcharges that the military auditors have disputed, but that the Pentagon has paid anyway. If the administration’s sudden change of heart is really about fiscal responsibility, it should demand that money back.

I’m curiuos what is everyone’s take on Iran. I’ve read all week from different sources that we’ve built up our presence to be ready to bomb iran. The articles all speculate on an October surprise. Is there anything we the public can do to stop this travesty? We have our military spread thin with two wars that aren’t going very well for us.Can we really afford to start another war? In the cost of humanity as well as taxpayer dollars?
God help us all if this is really what’s coming from the Bush gang.
The anti-war feelings are getting stronger every day from Americans but yet Bush will not admit that he ever did anything wrong.
Bush is set on his legacy of being the war time president. Too bad he nor any other members of his family had to do the actual fighting.
Dear Sum1,
The truth is we are and have been at war with Iran ever since we invaded Iraq. Iran is the main supplier of the so called insurgents that we are fighting in Iraq. When Israel was fighting Hezbolah in Lebanon, it was Iran that was the power behind the terrorists. Iran supplied Hezbolah, we supplied Israel.
If you think we haven’t been at war with Iran you haven’t been paying attention. I think we should go ahead and bomb Iran’s nuclear facilities and then even the slow ones will realize we are at war.
Hank
And, to make matters worse, Iran can fight back. They can also strike at other US interests in the region. Iran is NOT a paper tiger; they learned from fighting against a US proxy in the 80s how to fight.
And do you not think that North Korea is going to put their 2 cents worth in?
I swear what is it with you Republicans that just want to go in and bomb everything? The rest of us in this country have to live with whatever your bombing everything to Hell causes.
They will need to bomb iran before the nov elections. I think the american public is tired of the bs.
Hank is right that we are fighting Iranians too in Iraq.Being right about the bombing?Well, not so much.
I can picture him riding the bomb in the closing seen of Dr. Strangelove though. HA
Maybe then Bush can dress up in his jump suit again for a nice photo op. Then say “Stay the course” and “Mission accomplished”!
Maybe that’s the October surprise – no election because George W. Bush has declared all of Iran as enemy combatants and he plans to torture them all?
I don’t blame Republicans for wanting to forget the election this year. I would too with all the ugly truths that are coming out now.
Hank, what do ya’ propose in NK?We can’t bomb because we have NO intel, which is arguably better than bad intel.
One could argue that we have been at war with Iran since we helped depose their elected President and install the Shah…..
Hey Tracy,
I would get tough on China. Some have proposed that we give Nuclear offensive missles to Japan and South Korea. I would suggest that we give them to Taiwan!
North Korea is China’s mad dog and they have been letting them sleep on the front porch. North Korea doesn’t exist without China. China is our problem, not North Korea.
Hank
Gentle people,
I’m actually looking forward to the November elections! The republicans have a good chance of maintaining the house and senate. The democrats are running away from the issues rather than running on any issues.
Foley’s little problem is just that, Foley’s problem. All of the gleeful gay bashing by the democrats has merely underlined the fact that they have no answers. Americans are sick of their over-reaching.
I’m also looking forward to all of the excuses the democrats will come up with when they fail to take over the house and senate.
Hank
Eugene Robinson’s comments on the Republican folly of trying to legislate what is in the hearts and minds of Americans:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/10/09/AR2006100901037.html
Hank,I still want $25 of the bet money you were offering. The conditions:1) Republicans retain the US House majority;2) Republicans retain the US Senate majority;3) A Republican wins Foley’s seat in Florida;[and because I know you a loyal Republican]4) Katherine Harris wins her US senate race in Florida. All of the above occur, Hank wins, Steven Davis pays him $25 cash. If any do not occur, Hank pays $25 to either: a) Peace and Social Justice Center, or b) ProKanDo – addresses will be provided if needed.
Deal, or no deal?
Okay Hank. We’ll be workin on our excuses if you do too. Click-the light just came on.Hey guys, whatcha say we have a “lamest excuse” contest?
Oh and you’re right about China. We are pressuring them into reigning their boy in as we speak. With winter coming up abd China controlling their fuels, China is the key. To bad we don’t have a democratic gov’t that could actually get along with China!! HA
Steven-That depends on what’s in breifcase #8.
Hank is correct this is China’s problem.
“Get tough on China” would not be advisable in a military sense. That is unless we are prepared for a global war with the outcome in doubt. China is not the pushover of an Iraq or even a Nazi Germany or Imperial Japan. China is very capable of going toe to toe with the United States.
Hit China where it hurts. Slap a big fat tarrif on all their exports.
Damn Steven!
I’ll get back with you later, I’ll have to let my attorney read all of the find print in your offer!
Hank
I’d rather win $25 forTHE LAMEST EXCUSE.
“North Korea is China’s mad dog and they have been letting them sleep on the front porch. North Korea doesn’t exist without China. China is our problem, not North Korea.”
Interesting point, Hank. Some people are saying the same thing about South Korea’s sunshine policy toward the north as being a part of the problem. In South Korea there is a lot of criticism of their current president for this policy in the wake of the nuke testing yesterday.
What NK needs is Kentucky Fried Chicken, Mickey D’s, and BK.Only then will we be happy.
This from the gigolo pantload (and other Hankisms) John Kerry:
“And I can tell you that, if we stay strong, we can force an end to the failed linger-and-lose Bush approach on Iraq, and help America change course.”
I like the “linger-and-lose” phrase as a counter to the “cut and run” sound bite.
I heard Kim Jung il likes Jack Daniels whiskey, porn and Daffy Duck cartoons…..
Ok so what is our problem here? Seems like bush and Kim would get along fine! bush should go for a sleepover.
I wonder if Kim would like some nose candy?
China also has the US over a barrel don’t they? Is it true that in order to fund George’s war in Iraq we have had to borrow money from China.
Yeah, China is the big player in the game and if Georgie plans on taking on China – he can invade another country, take them over and move there himself. I want no part of that show of biggest bull posturing.

Iran Attack Looks More Likely as Eisenhower Carrier Group Sails for Iran TheaterSuch a war would be an act of madness, & yet we know that the plans are already drawn up

Eisenhower Carrier Group Sails for Iran Theater
The nuclear-powered aircraft carrier Eisenhower and its accompanying strike force of cruiser, destroyer and attack submarine slipped their moorings and headed off for the Persian Gulf region on Oct. 2, as I had predicted in a piece in The Nation magazine a few weeks back.
The Eisenhower strike force, according to my sources, is scheduled to arrive in the vicinity of Iran around October 21, at the same time as a second flotilla of minesweepers and other ships.
This build-up of naval power around the coast of Iran, according to some military sources, is in preparation for an air attack on Iran that would target not just Iran’s nuclear enrichment facilities, but its entire military command and control system.
While such an attack could be expected to unleash a wave of military violence all over Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and elsewhere against American forces and interests and against oil wells, pipelines and loading vacilities, as well as a mining of the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz, with a resulting skyrocketing of global oil prices, the real goal of this new war by the U.S. would be ensuring Republican control of the House and Senate.
It seems increasingly clear that the Republican Party is going to lose its grip on the House of Representatives, and that it may even lose control of the Senate, barring some dramatic October Surprise by the president. So far, the surprises have been working against Republicans, with the Foley sex scandal, the evidence that Abramoff’s bribery reached right into the inner sanctum of the White House, and the deteriorating U.S. position in Iraq.
With the number of House seats reportedly “in play” now rising from 15 to 30 and now 50, President Bush is looking at the possibility of a blow out Nov. 7 that could see him facing a Democratic Congress bent on revenge for five six years of systematic abuse.
Bush has committed a long string of impeachable crimes against the Constitution, the Republic and the American people — everything from lying to the Congress and the 9-11 Commission, obstructing an investigation into the outing of CIA agent Valerie Plame, abuse of power, violation of federal laws like the Foreign Surveillance Intelligence Act, dereliction of duty and criminal negligence, and war crimes. He can expect a Democratic Congress to call him to account for at least some of these crimes, whatever House minority leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) may say today.
This means that the worse things look for Republican chances in November, the greater the likelihood that a desperate President Bush will order a disastrous attack on Iran — one that would have the country enter into a third, even worse, war even as it is currently busy losing two others. But Bush and his gang of cronies don’t care about initiating a disaster. They’re focussed on the disaster that will hit them if they don’t turn around the November election. Sacrificing the country or its young men and women in uniform, or the lives of innocent Iranians, is not a concern, any more than it was when Bush ordered the invasion of Iraq.
Clearly such a war would be an act of madness, and yet we know that the plans, already drawn up, are being updated and fine-tuned now by generals and admirals whose twisted sense of patriotism has them giving primary loyalty to a demented commander in chief instead of to the Constitutional and the people of the United States, to both of which they swore an oath to protect.
I hope I am wrong about all this, but the sailing of the Eisenhower, which had been pushed forward recently by about a month by the Pentagon for clearly political reasons, makes me think I’m right. A key will be what happens with the Enterprise carrier strike force, which has already been on station in the Arabian Sea for six months, where it has been launching air strikes against Afghanistan and Iraq targets. Ordinarily, such deployments last six months and then the carrier group returns to base for resupply and for R&R for the crew. If the Enterprise is held over for a longer deployment, after the arrival of the Eisenhower, we will know that something serious is planned.
What is deeply troubling here is the total silence on the part of the Democratic Party opposition. Not one Democrat in Congress, and as far as I know, not one Democratic candidate for Congress — not even anti-war insurgent Ned Lamont in Connecticut — has demanded an answer from Bush and the Pentagon for the obvious military buildup around Iran, or about published reports that the U.S. already has special forces in side Iran backing the terrorist organization MEK, and selecting targets for U.S. bombardment.
If and when the U.S. attacks Iran, leading to a predicable — if temporary — rallying around the flag by the American public, and to an upset win by incumbent Republican congressional candidates, Democrats will have only themselves to blame for the debacle.
But it will be the American people — and especially the people of Iran — who will be the victims of this treacherous deed and this treasonous failure of will.

Notwithstanding my comments of last week, is this K. Rove’s “October Surprise”?
It could be a warning, you know, show the flag, show the force, in light of the North Korean actions, but damn, it sure sounds serious to me.

OK Steven,
Here’s the deal I’m willing to make:
1) Republicans retain the US House majority;2) Republicans retain the US Senate majority;
I’ll wager $25 on one and two together. That is, I’m betting the republicans retain both the house and senate.
3) A Republican wins Foley’s seat in Florida;
Three I would rather be a separate bet, I think the republican will win because despite what liberals think, republicans aren’t stupid. It is Florida though…4) Katherine Harris wins her US senate race in Florida.
I don’t think that poor ol’ Katherine has much of a chance. The brothers Bush have pretty much cut her loose. I will bet that she doesn’t lose by more than 20% of the vote though. Again, a separate bet.
And finally, I’ll pay off in cash to you if I lose. It will be a cold day in hell before I contribute any money to Teller’s PAC. Maybe, the Peace and Social Justice Center, they are merely a group of harmless kooks. If you want them to have my money you can give it to them.Deal, or no deal?

Do we really oppose terrorism?
Documents: CIA warned of plane bomb plot By ANDREW O. SELSKY, Associated Press WriterTue Oct 10, 6:58 AM ET
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico – An anti-Castro militant now in a Texas jail warned the CIA months before the 1976 bombing of a Cuban airliner that fellow exiles were planning such an attack, according to a newly released U.S. government document
The document shows that Luis Posada Carriles — who had worked for the CIA but was cut off by the agency earlier that year — was secretly telling the CIA that his fellow far-right Cuban exiles opposed to Fidel Castro’s communist government were plotting to bring down a commercial jet.
The document does not say what the CIA did with Posada’s tip. A CIA spokesman said he had no comment on Monday, a federal holiday.
The CIA had extensive contacts with anti-Castro militants and trained some of them, but has denied involvement in the bombing
http://www.netscape.com/viewstory/2006/10/09/documents-cia-warned-of-plane-bomb-plot/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fnews.yahoo.com%2Fs%2Fap%2F20061010%2Fap_on_re_la_am_ca%2Fcuba_cia_plane_bombing&frame=true
The Cubana Airlines plane, on a flight from Venezuela to Cuba, blew up shortly after taking off from a stopover in Barbados on Oct. 6, 1976, killing all 73 aboard, including Cuba’s Olympic fencing team.
I too am convinced that there will be an event before the elections, an event meant to frighten and enrage the sheeple against the muslims. It will be either:
1) A massive “terorist” attack on american soil2) A near miss with dead “muslims” and dirt-bomb or boi-weapons material found. This would allow shrub to claim that more powers and the ability to torture to prevent the deaths of Americans.3) I have been hearing credible chatter about the sinking of a large warship, perhaps the Enterprise. this would be blamed on the Iranians and the resultant fury would ebsure the repukes remaining in power and an end to talk of winding down the war in Iraq.
I am taking this chatter very seriously and I have sent my wife and kinder to Argentina to stay with my inlaws until after the election.
Next Attack Imminent: Muslims Ordered to Leave the USTerrorism Hamid Mir, Dr. Paul L. Williams & David DastychSeptember 19, 2006Recently, Abu Dawood, one of the newly appointed commanders of the al Qaeda forces in Afghanistan issued some disturbing statements. Dawood stated: that final preparations have been made for the American Hiroshima, a major attack on the US; said that Muslims living in the United States should leave the country without further warning; indicated that the attack will be commandeered by Adnan el Shukrijumah (”Jaffer Tayyer” or “Jafer the Pilot”), a naturalized American citizen, who was raised in Brooklyn and educated in southern Florida; that the al Qaeda operatives who will launch this attack are awaiting final orders, that they remain in place in cities throughout the country and that many are masquerading as Christians and have adopted Christian names; that al Qaeda and the Taliban will also launch a major strike (known as the “Badar Operation”) against the coalition forces in Afghanistan during the holy month of Ramadan; and that the American people probably will be treated to a final audio message from Osama bin Laden which will be aired some time later.
The announcements from Abu Dawood were obtained by Hamid Mir, the only journalist to interview Osama bin Laden, Ayman al-Zawahiri, and Taliban leader Mullah Omar in the wake of 9/11. Mir’s earlier reports regarding the resurgence of the Taliban, with support from Iran and Russia, and an unofficial truce (reported by some Western sources) between President Pervez Musharraf and al Qaeda, have panned out and have been reported by the mainstream media in recent months.
Mr. Mir interviewed Dawood (no specific date indicated)) at the tomb of Sultan Mehmud Ghaznawi, on the outskirts of Kabul. Dawood and the al Qaeda leaders who accompanied him sported short beards and were dressed casually, for disguise. The al Qaeda commander had contacted Mir by cell-phone to arrange the meeting.
Here, then, is Mr. Mir’s interview with Abu Dawood……http://www.newmediajournal.us/guest/dastych/09192006.htm

Hank:”OK Steven,
“Here’s the deal I’m willing to make:

“3) A Republican wins Foley’s seat in Florida;
“Three I would rather be a separate bet, I think the republican will win because despite what liberals think, republicans aren’t stupid. It is Florida though…”
Hank, I will take these two seperately – $25 each. If it is a split decision between the two (meaning 1&2 vs. 3), we owe each other nothing.
I did not think you would bite on the Katherine Harris pitch. I knew I’d win that one – which was part of the reason for giving your money to a charity; wouldn’t have felt right taking it from you. Peace and Social Justice Center a bunch of kooks? My favorite college professor (he’s retired now) is involved with that group. He is a better citizen than I am, but he is a Canadian — you know how they are.
ProKanDo supports candidates they think are favorable to women’s rights. It is not hard to predict where Republicans will be on the matter, huh? Only women can change the Republican party. I bet if they started a “no-you-are-not-getting-any until________” they could turn that party around in a week on the outside.
P.S. On the Foley bet, you do know that some campaign law requires that in order for voters to vote for the replacement of Foley, they have to cast a vote on Foley’s name which will appear on the ballot. If you did not know that, being the good sport that I am, I will allow you to withdraw from that bet. I think this little detail, makes your win on that one, an uphill battle.
Hank – how was Woofstock? I heard it was a big success.
Meanwhile, you and I still have Lieberman – I think that might go your way but what the heck …
Ian,Your paranoia has reached an all-time high.
Will,
I am a combat veteran and I do not scare easily, but, the chatter I have been hearing has come from UBER credible sources!
V.L.R.B!!
Hey Steven,
Yea I know that the republicans will be casting a vote for Foley in order to insure that the republican wins, but…
Foley comes from a predominately republican district. Foley won with 68% of the vote two years ago. Foley’s district went for GWB big time. And who does the democrat buddy up to immediately after Foley resigns? Huh..? Lurch from Massachussetts (you know he served in Viet Nam, didn’t you). So, I really believe that republicans retain the seat.
So we’re on, $25 on Foley’s seat. and $25 on retaining the house and senate.
As far as ProKan Do goes it is Teller’s the baby Killers PAC. Teller is a multi-millionaire. Give him money if you want, if I was you, and I won some poor ol’ republican’s hard earned money I’d take my wife out for a steak instead!
Hank
Hey Ben,
I had a good time at WoofStock! We instinct tested about 50 dogs on sheep. Could have done more, but after the first few the sheep realized they could walk over the plastic fencing that WoofStock provided. We had to go and get some cow panels and reenforce the fence. Cost us an hour or so.
There were really a few nice dogs in the bunch. A lady showed up with a Briard that I would have taken home with me, nice dog.
Lieberman is pretty much a shoo in right now, you can tell he’s winning, none of the media is reporting the poll numbers! Unfortuantely, we’re even if he wins. I need to figure a way to get some of your money!
Hank
“1) Republicans retain the US House majority;2) Republicans retain the US Senate majority;
I’ll wager $20 on one and two together. That is, I’m betting the republicans retain both the house and senate.”
Lets add another $20 for fun. The Dems take at least one.
If I win you contribute to Gerard House. If you win you name the recipient.
I have never donated to ProKanDo. It was more for your benefit, Hank.
I am sure my wife would go for the steak dinner idea.
The Repubs are pretty proud of their GOTV program and it does sound to be well run. I think the electorate has had enough as it stands today. Things can change in a month’s time.
The race I am most interested in is the KS AG contest. I have donated what I can afford to the Morrison effort. My dad was telling me the other day that he sure wouldn’t want Morrison after him as a prosecuting attorney. I wouldn’t either – that guy gets serious when he’s pissed off.
Your on Ben, Gerard House is a good choice. If I win, you can give to them too.

Published on Thursday, October 28, 2004 by the San Francisco ChronicleLooting Spree Gutted Ammo DumpWitnesses say Iraqis blitzed Al Qaqaa after U.S. troops came, leftby James Glanz, Jim Dwyer NYTBAGHDAD — Looters stormed the weapons site at Al Qaqaa in the days after American troops swept through the area in early April 2003 on their way to Baghdad, gutting office buildings, carrying off munitions and even dismantling heavy machinery, three Iraqi witnesses and a regional security chief said Wednesday.
The Iraqis described an orgy of theft so extensive that enterprising residents rented their trucks to looters. But some looting was clearly indiscriminate, with people grabbing anything they could find and later heaving unwanted items off the trucks.
Two witnesses were employees of Al Qaqaa — one a chemical engineer and the other a mechanic — and the third was a former employee, a chemist, who had come back to retrieve his records, determined to keep them out of U.S. hands. The mechanic, Ahmed Saleh Mezher, said employees asked the Americans to protect the site, but were told this was not the soldiers’ responsibility.
The accounts do not directly address the question of when nearly 400 tons of powerful conventional explosives vanished from the site sometime after early March, the last time international inspectors checked the seals on the bunkers where the material was stored. It is possible that Iraqi forces removed some explosives before the invasion.

PUNE, INDIA ‚Äì On a rainy night, hiding behind a pushcart food stall parked in front of a dizzyingly lit mall, Raju is busy at work. This timid 10-year-old works 12-hour days serving customers and scrubbing mountains of utensils with tiny hands that appear callused by detergent. After a full day, he often pockets less than a dollar. If there’s food left over, he gets a meal. If not, he goes home on an empty stomach.Concerned about the future of children like Raju, India Tuesday begins implementing a country-wide ban on children below 14 working as domestic help or in the hospitality sector. And punishment for those who choose to defy it is stringent: imprisonment for up to two years and a fine as high as $430.
Children in India are already banned from working in factories, mines, and other perilous jobs. India’s Child Labor Act, first passed in 1986, will now carry two more in a list of 57 professions deemed “hazardous” for children.
Child rights activists in India say it’s an important step in the battle to stop child labor. But some worry that the government is still not doing enough to provide alternative options for families that depend on income from their children. And many are skeptical about how effective enforcement of the ban will be.
“It is important to remember that the problem won’t disappear by just introducing a ban,” says Shireen Miller, head of policy at the India branch of the US-based Save the Children organization. “Legislation is a start,” she says pointing out that previous legislation hasn’t been stringently enforced.
“Now there’s a clear signal that [no one] can get away with employing and exploiting children as workers,” says Shantha Sinha, an anti-child labor activist who in 2003 won the prestigious Ramon Magsaysay Award. Ms. Sinha recalls how all 34 cases of domestic child labor that she took up last year – most of them of children brutally beaten by their employers – couldn’t stand up in court. All of the accused wriggled out of blame, she says, as employing children as domestic help wasn’t then prohibited by law. She hopes this ban will reverse such tendencies.
India has the largest number of child laborers on the planet. And studies by non-governmental organizations (NGOs) reveal shockingly high levels of emotional, physical, and sexual abuse among children working as domestic helpers.
According to the New Delhi-based, National Sample Survey Organisation, nearly 16.4 million Indian children aged 5-14 years are engaged in economic activities and domestic or non-remunerative work. The World Bank puts that figure at 44 million.

I verified the cases he cited and found that they were true incidents. Why then does hate crimes against minorities take the news media by storm but hate crimes against EuroAmericans don’t even get a hint of air time outside the local news?
“Black and Hispanic Crips gang.”
Seems unlikely. They tend to be bitter rivals. That said, if either of them did what is claimed then it definitely should be considered a hate crime.
Good for a laugh, even if you are a Democrat.
