Tell that to my nephew who was buried.

Your heart must be so black to be so negative all of the time.

If you don't like something that is fine work to change it but don't be rude and disrespectful of others in the process.

If you say you do it because others are rude to you then grow up. You should really live by "do unto others as you wish them to do unto you".

You will be much happier and you might actually solve things rather than just moan and grown.

Topic ended.

Heh, yeah, you respect them right up until they get killed.

Then you support the Liar-in-Chief's decision not to allow their caskets to be shown on TV . . .

I have the utmost respect for the men and women serving in the military. Without them you would not be allowed to do your name calling.

So who's disrespectful? You are.

"Why don't you stop listening to the propaganda and take the time to talk to the soldiers that have been there and listen to the stories they tell. . . Some of them watched their friend die only to have people like you disgrace them."

Hey, douchebag, MY SON was in Ramadi for a year.

He just got out of the army this month after 8 years.

You really don't have a single clue, do you?

Think about it:

AMERICAN SOLDIERI want you to close your eyes and picture in your mind the soldier at Valley Forge, as he holds his musket in his bloody hands.

He stands barefoot in the snow, starved from lack of food, wounded from months of battle and emotionally scarred from the eternity away from his family surrounded by nothing but death and carnage of war.

He stands tough, with fire in his eyes and victory on his breath. He looks at us now in anger and disgust and tells us this...

I gave you a birthright of freedom born in the Constitution and now your children graduate too illiterate to read it.I fought in the snow barefoot to give you the freedom to vote and you stay at home because it rains.

I left my family destitute to give you the freedom of speech and you remain silent on critical issues, because it might be bad for business.I orphaned my children to give you a government to serve you and it has stolen democracy from the people. It's the soldier not the reporter who gives you the freedom of the press. It's the soldier not the poet who gives you the freedom of speech. It's the soldier not the campus organizer who allows you to demonstrate. It's the soldier who salutes the flag, serves the flag, whose coffin is draped with the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag!!!"Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as theyprotect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. Amen."

You just could not keep from name calling.

Why are you so afraid of others ideas and views? That is the great thing about America is that we can all have different opinions.

But you seem to think that everyone should be full of hate and not accept another point of view.

It appears that you cannot move forward. You are stuck in the past holding onto grudges of things you did not like and that you have decided are wrong.

You seem to think that you are the all knowing and should anyone else think different then you go into your hate mode. So much for you respecting other peoples ideas or opinions.

As far as Iraq goes it is a war that we are in. Rather interesting that we have not had another 911 so far. Could that be because we are fighting the war over there instead of here? Why don't you stop listening to the propaganda and take the time to talk to the soldiers that have been there and listen to the stories they tell. Forget what the reporters are saying. Go to the source. They will tell you all of the positives they saw. Some of them have even gone over more than once. Some of them watched their friend die only to have people like you disgrace them.

Yes it is sad to lose even one life. But freedom does come at a price. And had it not been for the men and women before us that were willing to give their life for the freedoms we enjoy today we would not be able to say what we want or do what we want. It appears that you have forgotten. In those wars we lost a lot more than we have with this war. We lose more in suicide, homicide and car accidents on a monthly basis than we have lost in Iraq.

I suppose you are one of those that believe we should just cut and run. If we did that you could be guaranteed that there would be war on our land. You would have to be dodging the bullets and the bombs.

I'm sorry but I don't want to see that and I do not want my children, grand-children or great-grand-children to see it or live. I am so proud of the young men and women that keep us safe and that are willing to put their life on the line.

You're just an angry little man. Thank a solider the next time you spit out your hatred because in another country you would not have the freedom to do it.

Sooth Sayed--

"Are you always this angry every day? You must be a really sad and lonely person."

It's true:

I am sad when I look at our country and see what you POS conservatives have done to it.

I am angry when I see some POS right-wing shill repeating Repuke talking points without the ability to see the lies they are.

I see that as a good thing.

Breathes there a man so dead who can't rise up in righteous anger at the lies and venality and incompentence and corruption and power-mongering of George W. Bush and the idiots who follow him?

I need my anger. It's a sign of awareness and morality.

If you're not outraged, you're not paying attention.

When I stop feeling angry about how George W. Bush stole the election and told democracy to drop dead so he could be pResident, then I am no American.

When I stop feeling outrage over the 2,600 American soldiers dead for a pack of lies in Iraq, then, I am no man.

"Our lives begin to end, the day we remain silent about things that matter." Martin Luther King

1. $3,000 over 6 or 14 years is not a lot of money.2. Apparently you look at only one side of an issue.3. He moved into that district to run for state representative. He brought with him a lot of Washington DC money. Not Kansas money but big DC special interest lobby money. You should be concerned with all of that out of state special interest money but you don't seem to be when it is for one of your friends. Then there is the issue of his work with the ACLU and their support of Fred Phelps. Now that is really something to be proud of.4. How would you propose that candidates fund campaigns? If you say it they should do it then you would only have very rich legislators running for office. I like the fact that Kansas has a citizen legislature and people of all walks of life are able to run for office. If a candidate takes money from an organization and then they feel that they should oppose a piece of legislation that organization supports I feel that is a strong up standing legislator and they are doing the job they were elected to do. I don't want to see a legislator vote 100% with an organization just because they received a donation to their campaign. That is wrong. But you seem to think if you take money from an organization then you have to vote the way the organization wants you to. You are so wrong on that point.5. First of all I have not seen a pro-choice organization give money to a conservative so that one is a non issue. Second not all legislators opposed to the gaming do so because of a moral issue. For most of them it is a fiscal issue and the fact that the state would own the casino. Do you really think the state should own a casino? We would be the only state in the country to own a casino. That makes no sense. I have been told that once that issue is addressed by the state and private organizations can own the casinos then most of the legislators would be willing to put it to a vote of the people. You are just mad because you did not get the county to spend money on something that meant nothing. But then again you probably pay very little in taxes and figure it is no big deal to spend other people's money.6. So you figure an expensive dinner buys a legislator? Get real. You did say perks and dinners are not perks and I still do not see the out of state connection here. If this is such a big deal to you why don't you work to change the law?You still should work on that anger. Once again you were not able to get through a discussion without calling names or yelling. All of this is not good for your health. You do show an anger problem and should seek help soon.

Are you always this angry every day? You must be a really sad and lonely person.

The ref counted him down on a TKO, but he comes back for more.

Okay, you asked for it.

1. "So if they were being purchased it was for a pretty petty amount."

Well, great, if it was such a petty amount, then they didn't need to take it.

Apparently, they thought it was worth taking, didn't they.

Nobody cares about your definition of a petty amount. What they care about is THEIR OWN definition of a petty amount. And most people don't see 3,000 dollars as a petty amount.

2. "Why aren't you just as interested in the amounts given to those that support gaming?"

Who's that and how much did they take? The article I CITED (as opposed to what you cited which was nothing) said that gaming interests showed a marked preference for Repubs over Dems and CONSERVATIVES over libs and mods.

CONSERVATIVES are the most anti-gaming.

Duh.

3. "Your friend who has come in from out of state" Uhhh, you mean the guy whose parents have been doctors here for like 30 years, whose family started a business in this town, the guy who grew up on 13th Street and graduated Validectorian from Collegiate, the guy who worked as an intern at the Wichita Eagle?

The guy who went to Harvard Law, got married AND CAME BACK TO LIVE IN WICHITA to raise his family?

You mean that "out of state" guy?

What a dumbass you are.

4. "What is the definition of 'special interest'?" I don't have a problem with special interests per se. I have a problem with CANDIDATES who take money from a special interest--like GAMBLING--and then vote against the people's right to decide an issue like gambling for themselves.

I don't think you will find too many CONSERVATIVES taking money from "pro-choice" organizations. But they'll take it from casinos even though they are "morally" opposed to casinos.

That's the hypocrisy.

5. "You also have not listed the out of state perks you were so proud of mentioning."

Expensive dinners is one that I know of.

As I say, if that is "nothing" to you, then let me ask you to buy me some dinners . . .

As for me needing therapy for my "anger," the one good thing is that a person can improve their emotional state.

You can't get therapy for stupid, which seems to be your problem.

The ref counted him down on a TKO, but he comes back for more.

Okay, you asked for it.

1. “So if they were being purchased it was for a pretty petty amount.”

Well, great, if it was such a petty amount, then they didn’t need to take it.

Apparently, they thought it was worth taking, didn’t they.

Nobody cares about your definition of a petty amount. What they care about is THEIR OWN definition of a petty amount. And most people don’t see 3,000 dollars as a petty amount.

2. “Why aren’t you just as interested in the amounts given to those that support gaming?”

Who’s that and how much did they take? The article I CITED (as opposed to what you cited which was nothing) said that gaming interests showed a marked preference for Repubs over Dems and CONSERVATIVES over libs and mods.

CONSERVATIVES are the most anti-gaming.

Duh.

3. “Your friend who has come in from out of state” Uhhh, you mean the guy whose parents have been doctors here for like 30 years, whose family started a business in this town, the guy who grew up on 13th Street and graduated Validectorian from Collegiate, the guy who worked as an intern at the Wichita Eagle?

The guy who went to Harvard Law, got married AND CAME BACK TO LIVE IN WICHITA to raise his family?

You mean that “out of state” guy?

What a dumbass you are.

4. “What is the definition of ’special interest’?” I don’t have a problem with special interests per se. I have a problem with CANDIDATES who take money from a special interest–like GAMBLING–and then vote against the people’s right to decide an issue like gambling for themselves.

I don’t think you will find too many CONSERVATIVES taking money from “pro-choice” organizations. But they’ll take it from casinos even though they are “morally” opposed to casinos.

You are such an angry little person.

What you did not show with your information was the number of years these amounts were distributed. They were not done in one or two years. So if they were being purchased it was for a pretty petty amount.

Why aren't you just as interested in the amounts given to those that support gaming? The amounts are a lot bigger and in shorter periods of time. Now who is being purchased?

Second it does not take a rocket scientist to figure out that on Chappell's campaign finance report that Rufin is special interest. He is Mr. Gaming. Also you might want to take note that Mr. Chappell says on his web-site that he will not take from an organization but he will take money from their members. So what is the difference? This is nothing more than a game.

Third you have your friend running against Bonnie Huy who has come in from out of state with a bag of money from Washington special interest but you seem to be ok with that one.

Perhaps you are a hypocrite?

What is the definition of “special interest”? For you it appears any organization that gives money to a candidate. Then you should be just as upset about Teachers Unions, Casino owners, pro-choice organizations, beverage companies, businesses, highway contractors, construction companies, realtors, ACLU, builders and the list goes on. Why are you only upset over one industry?

You may want to consider some therapy for this anger of yours.

OPPOSED, BUT TAKING DONATIONSWichita Eagle, The (KS)January 20, 2006Author: DION LEFLER, The Wichita Eagle

"On the House side, the biggest donation recipients were Wichita Republicans Willa DeCastro, $2,950; and Bonnie Huy and Joe McLeland, $2,700 each."

Since this was in JANUARY, we can reasonably assume the contributions have gone up since then.

The article also pointed out that "in terms of the amounts donated, the tribal and casino interests showed a marked preference for Republicans over Democrats and conservatives over moderate to liberal legislators."

This short list attached to the article seems to verify that--

DeCastro, Willa * Wichita Republican $2,950

Huy, Bonnie * Wichita Republican $2,700

McLeland, Joe * Wichita Republican $2,700

McCreary, Bill * Wellington Republican $2,600

Powers, Ted Mulvane Republican $2,500

Huebert, Steve * Valley Center Republican $2,350

Brunk, Steve * Bel Aire Republican $2,250

Myers, Don * Derby Republican $2,250

Landwehr, Brenda * Wichita Republican $2,250

Pottorff, Jo Ann Wichita Republican $2,250

Goico, Mario * Wichita Republican $2,150

Johnson, Everett * Augusta Republican $2,000

Grange, John * El Dorado Republican $1,850

Swenson, Dale Wichita Republican $1,850

Dahl, Donald * Hillsboro Republican $1,600

Kelsey, Richard * Goddard Republican $1,500

Come back again, SnotHead, when you want your ass kicked . . .

While I'm googling all this, Sooth Sayed, let me ask you this--how do you know that the individuals who are contributing to Walt Chappall's campaign represent special interests?

CapA – You are such a piece of work. You shoot off your mouth and then when you are challenged you do not want to back it up.

You are such a disrespectful person. You call people names (like spelling names wrong) and accuse them of things but you don't supply the facts.

Well I did look at the information on campaign finance and found that Landwehr's opponent is actually taking the special interest money from the individual instead of the company. So I guess you have your facts wrong once again.

I also looked at the information on Landwehr and her position on gaming and it showed that once the state has made a decision she is supportive of the people having a vote. This made since to me seeing how those other counties spent their money on such a vote and got nothing. So why would we waste the money?

If you consider dinner a big perk then ok. I just don't see that as a problem.

What I could not find was anything on the out of state perks you talked about or the large sums of gambling money on her. Even looking at the article with the amounts you don't see anything really large that would purchase a vote. $2,500 over several years is not a large amount. I was a little more concerned with the $8,000 (pro-gaming) to one person in one campaign cycle. That looks like purchasing to me.

So once again you have spit out your hatred without the hard facts.

For Sooth--

1. Not all candidates receive money from special interests. Walt Chappell who's running againt Brenda Landweird hasn't taken a penny.

2. I don't need documentation to back up my claim that Huy and Landweird take gambling money and then vote against your right to a referendum here in Sedgwick County. It's all public record. Do your own homework.

3. As far as perks go, how about expensive meals paid for by a lobbyists dime? And if that is "nothing" to you, then great, you can buy me drinks and a meal next time I go to P. F. Chang's.

"Waiter, looks like we'll be having champagne tonight."

CapA – What perks and $3,500 are you talking about, perks and out of state interests? I remember the article where some legislators had received some money from the Indian Tribes and Harrah's. Most of it was little amounts when you really look at it. I do remember the candidates that supported casinos received very large amounts of money in their campaigns. One of them got over $8,000 from gambling and it was the first time he had ever ran for office. That looks like a person being purchased for a vote.

You also mentioned perks. Perhaps I missed something when I read the stories on this. I would be interested in knowing what the perks were. You also said there were out of state interests funding the legislators opposing casinos. All I saw was the Indians Tribes and Harrah's that works with one of the Tribes. So perhaps you could show me what I over looked.

I will look forward to seeing your documentation.

KSFrmGrrl--

BonBon Huy is going down. She's going down like the Hindenberg.

Brenda Landweird is going to be a tougher nut to crack--she took in 8,000 in special interest money in the last four months.

Remember, right-wingers who "want to get government off your back"--These are the people who took 3,500 dollars plus perks from out-of-state gambling interests TO VOTE AGAINST your choice for a referendum on gaming here.

Nice . . .
