As far as Iraq goes it is a war that we are in. Rather interesting that we have not had another 911 so far. Could that be because we are fighting the war over there instead of here? Why don’t you stop listening to the propaganda and take the time to talk to the soldiers that have been there and listen to the stories they tell. Forget what the reporters are saying. Go to the source. They will tell you all of the positives they saw. Some of them have even gone over more than once. Some of them watched their friend die only to have people like you disgrace them.

Yes it is sad to lose even one life. But freedom does come at a price. And had it not been for the men and women before us that were willing to give their life for the freedoms we enjoy today we would not be able to say what we want or do what we want. It appears that you have forgotten. In those wars we lost a lot more than we have with this war. We lose more in suicide, homicide and car accidents on a monthly basis than we have lost in Iraq.

What you did not show with your information was the number of years these amounts were distributed. They were not done in one or two years. So if they were being purchased it was for a pretty petty amount.

Why aren’t you just as interested in the amounts given to those that support gaming? The amounts are a lot bigger and in shorter periods of time. Now who is being purchased?

Second it does not take a rocket scientist to figure out that on Chappell’s campaign finance report that Rufin is special interest. He is Mr. Gaming. Also you might want to take note that Mr. Chappell says on his web-site that he will not take from an organization but he will take money from their members. So what is the difference? This is nothing more than a game.

Third you have your friend running against Bonnie Huy who has come in from out of state with a bag of money from Washington special interest but you seem to be ok with that one.

What is the definition of “special interest”? For you it appears any organization that gives money to a candidate. Then you should be just as upset about Teachers Unions, Casino owners, pro-choice organizations, beverage companies, businesses, highway contractors, construction companies, realtors, ACLU, builders and the list goes on. While I’m googling all this, Sooth Sayed, let me ask you this–how do you know that the individuals who are contributing to Walt Chappall’s campaign represent special interests?

Well I did look at the information on campaign finance and found that Landwehr’s opponent is actually taking the special interest money from the individual instead of the company. So I guess you have your facts wrong once again.

I also looked at the information on Landwehr and her position on gaming and it showed that once the state has made a decision she is supportive of the people having a vote. This made since to me seeing how those other counties spent their money on such a vote and got nothing. So why would we waste the money?

If you consider dinner a big perk then ok. I just don’t see that as a problem.

What I could not find was anything on the out of state perks you talked about or the large sums of gambling money on her. Even looking at the article with the amounts you don’t see anything really large that would purchase a vote. $2,500 over several years is not a large amount. I was a little more concerned with the $8,000 (pro-gaming) to one person in one campaign cycle. That looks like purchasing to me.

So once again you have spit out your hatred without the hard facts.

1. Not all candidates receive money from special interests. Walt Chappell who’s running againt Brenda Landweird hasn’t taken a penny.

2. I don’t need documentation to back up my claim that Huy and Landweird take gambling money and then vote against your right to a referendum here in Sedgwick County. It’s all public record. Do your own homework.

3. As far as perks go, how about expensive meals paid for by a lobbyists dime? And if that is “nothing” to you, then great, you can buy me drinks and a meal next time I go to P. F. Chang’s.

You also mentioned perks. Perhaps I missed something when I read the stories on this. I would be interested in knowing what the perks were. You also said there were out of state interests funding the legislators opposing casinos. All I saw was the Indians Tribes and Harrah’s that works with one of the Tribes. So perhaps you could show me what I over looked.
