Fox, Wright not answering the calls

The decision by local conservative pastors Joe Wright and Terry Fox to end their talk radio program, “Answering the Call,” is the latest setback for Fox in his aim of reaching a larger audience with his fire-and-brimstone political message.
The duo say their top-rated weekly radio program, launched two years ago, can’t find enough financial supporters willing to underwrite the $10,000 monthly needed to stay on the air.
The cancellation seems to be yet more fallout from Fox’s departure from Immanuel Baptist Church, where he was blamed, among other things, for diverting mission money to the radio program.

A very timely header Randy. We will no doubt hear from some who will accuse the Eagle of piling on Fox. But this story is important.

The greatest potential in a blog like this one is in its capacity to explore stories that do not get fully told in the media. Our blog did that well with this subject.

Fox diverting money from Immanuel to the radio show? Where has your news division been? Waiting of course for the story to play out. And that is understandable. But Fox’s use of the church funds for the radio show was revealed on a Fox thread weeks ago by members of Immanuel. This forum has provided other revelations about Fox. And it has served as a healing experience and revelation for those who remain at Immanuel.

I think we all did real well!

Speak of a whiner and watch one appear.

I hadn’t even finished typing that someone would complain before somebody already had!

I don’t recall running onto “hy” before. I don’t remember that nic as part of the discussion about Fox. So I would say that “hy”s assessment is un-informed or more likely biased.

The blog is what ya make it hy. Fox could have told his story and not invited for it to tell itself. He has/had a much louder voice than anyone here or at the Eagle. For whatever reason he chose to keep quiet. He has had defenders here and everyone has an equal right to be heard. If anyone posted falsehoods they did so at their own peril in truth and law.

    JUST CURIOUS?

Using church funds that supports a radio show, that HAS OPENELY SUPPORTED BUSH.

Would this be a case of violation of IRS-exemption status?

Maybe. Anybody have insight into the rules of exemption?

Why is this important? Basically because Fox and Wright has so changed the contour of this State, its image outside of the State. Because both had forced themselves into the spotlight and forcing through an amendment to the State Constitution the supreme law of the State, that was so limiting in scope as to what is the legal recognized definition of a couple. So that already as predicted has effected child care, where as a common law couple having children and receiving any public assistance with child care. The State is now taking the husband to court to demand child support, even though the father is in the house and is already actively contributing to the child’s welfare. Basically taking money from the family, placing it into the system, only to return it sometime later in the form of child assistance. Thus actually putting more of a strain on the family then was there in the first place.

Fox and Wright has actively worked both in front and behind the scene to try to bring I.D. (Creationism) into the classroom. Once again damaging the image of the State of Kansas outside and in some cases inside the State. Both men have place themselves in the forefront as to represent both as men of God and true Christians to the State and the world. When someone proclaims themselves to be the true representation of the faith, any misdeed or misstep reflects on that faith and in fact endangers that faith to those that might turn to the faith. As leaders of the Church, their role as leader makes them the guiding force in the Church. So their misleading of their flock into an activist role has endangered the Church, the faith and the soul of the church.

Fox and Wright forced themselves into the spotlight, if the glare has become too intense they have no one to blame but themselves.

Enough of Fox and his ego – here’s an opportunity to do something useful

Support Our TroopsDo all you can to ensure Congress provides our troops the 2.7% pay raise passed by the House rather than capping them at the 2.2% passed by the Senate.

Wartime — when many of our servicemembers are going to Iraq for their third tour since 9/11 — is the wrong time to skimp on the military pay raise. Congress will be sending the wrong message to the troops who are sacrificing so much for the rest of us if it tries to save a few dollars byshaving a half percentage point off their pay raise.

Military pay still lags comparability with private sector pay by 4.5%, and it’s essential for long-term retention and readiness to continue makingprogress to restore comparaibility.

Ironically, congressional appropriations committees have already appropriated funds for a 2.7% raise for federal civilians….while capping military funding at 2.2%. We need to do better by our troops. The countrycan afford an extra half-percent raise for all who serve and sacrifice in the Global War on Terrorism – military and federal civilians alike.

Many may wonder, how will we pay for this increase if the Appropriationsbill has only passed the 2.2% increase? Every year DoD submits asupplemental budget request. In their supplemental Congress can ask foradditional funds to help pay for the .5% increase.

I’m urging you to make sure congress provides the troops a 2.7% pay raise. It is a very small way that you can show your support for our soldiers, sailors and airmen.

Here’s one better. Have each politician and those in White House donate their own pay raises from the start of Iraq War to the soldiers’ pay.

Now that would be putting your money where your mouth is.

Ken – I just did. This is one of those things that should be a no-brainer in my book. What is wrong with the politicians when they are fat and sassy, in their million dollar homes and then not paying our military a decent wage?

This just really burns my britches. Every voter needs to be reminded of this at election time.

A tenth of a percent increase in taxes on the rich would pay for the pay raises and more.

But it ain’t gonna happen, is it?

Second time I’ve run into that Ken. Probably better to post that on the open.

And I see GMC piped up to piss and moan about a topic he has had nothing to say on before.

This is an important subject. As writerdog said, it concerns the character and ethics of a man who has inflicted his own personal belief on others to the level of re-writing the state Constitution. It is not outside the realm of possibility the man will become even more involved in politics and even run for office. I say the more we know him the better.

Does anyone recall that the marriage ammendment was voted on by the people of this state!! Joe Wright and Terry Fox get the same one vote a piece that the rest of us get. So did you vote? The majority of the state agreed with them!! I loved there radio show am sad to see it go.

    Hey DV?

Well the voting people of Kansas are not known for their intelligence. Hence the republican bent of the state. We can only hope that will change.

You will miss the radio show? Me too.

( I think you and I were the only listeners.)

Now I have to find some new background noise while I clean my toilet and bathroom. Fox and Wright were the perfect soundtrack for that.

“His aspirations of being a wealthy televangelist has bit the dust!”

Oh no, I disagree. This will give him a GREAT opportunity to confess, cry croc tears like jimmy, beg forgiveness, then be BORN AGAIN.

Free and clear, and an even BETTER evangelist because he is a publicly reformed sinner. It works for them every time. Just look at his fellow teleconfessors.

My only hope is that he will FINALLY be able to pay his taxes like the rest of us mortals.

It’s the usual play out of the usual playbook. He will “rise again” no doubt.

If Fox used church money it would not reflect on the church due to the church’s ignorance of such an act. Fox, however, would need to pay for what he used, as in, pay it back to the church, and there are legal ramifications of such an action.

“If the Values Voters Summit 2006 proved anything, it was not, as its organizers intended, that voters — or even Republican voters — care more about the “culture” than other issues. It did not prove, although later events might, whether Dobson and Perkins have enough followers to help the Republicans cling to power this fall. It proved only that the Republican Party has run out of ideas, innovations and any sense of decency.”AMEN
