At least Fitzgerald worked cheap

Revelations that former Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage, not some partisan gun-slinger, outed CIA agent Valerie Plame to columnist Robert Novak have people wondering what will become of special prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald’s related perjury case against Vice President Dick Cheney’s former top aide, Lewis “Scooter” Libby, which goes to trial early next year. If the investigation by Fitzgerald (in photo) now fizzles out, at least it will have been comparatively cheap. According to NBC News, the three-year probe has cost $1.5 million, compared with independent counsel David Barrett’s decade-long, $23 million probe of former Housing Secretary Henry Cisneros, and Ken Starr’s $64 million investigation of Whitewater and Monica Lewinsky.

Where does Rhonda get off saying Armitage isn’t partisan? The guy stared working for Dole, went off to Reagan, signed the Project for a New American Century which stated that we needed to invade Iraq for it’s oil, then has no problem committing treason for political reasons? I’m wonder how someone working for the Eagle can be so misinformed on current events.

The shine sure is off of Fitzgerald’s star. First, no Karl Rove in the left’s stocking for “Fitzmas”. Now we find that he knew that Armitrage was the source of the leak, yet went through all this big show of grand jury testimony in order to find someone in the adminstration who’s memory conflicted with that of others.

That just doesn’t seem right. It smells of a fishing expedition, bordering on entrapment. I doubt that Libby will ever face trial. Not that it will ever erase the damage to his reputation or the angst he is going through.

Barring some big surprise, the best thing that can be said for Fitzgerald’s “investigation” is that it was cheap.

It seems that the only thing the Bush people have to hang on Fitzgerald is that he might have not identifies just which one of Bush’s minions FIRST exposed Plames identity. When a member of a group does something and the group sticks together it can be quite difficult to narrow doen just which one did it first. What is clear is this: The Bush organization outed Plame.

Since the investigation was so cheap then perhaps the government can reimburse Libby for legal expenses and lost wages after it drops the charges against him.

Perhaps, just perhaps, Fitzgerald knows that in Washington, DC – corruption always comes in layers. He knows that Armitage was not the only leak in this whole mess.

Armitage is just the Bush administation’s fall guy for this fiasco because they got caught with the lips moving – that means they were lying.

If Libby is paid back, then the Congress should pay Bill and Hillary Clinton back for all those unnecessary investigations pushed by the Republicans.

    suza,

Indeed. If ‘lying under oath’ (about sex) is an impeachable offense for a sitting President, then it should be a criminal offense for a Vice-President’s chief of staff.

One was added to the list, nothing else changed. I agree, they’re ALL involved.

The key is that all involved were agents of the same person. That person should be ultimately responsible.

My Administration had nothing to do with the leak, and I want to get to the bottom of this, paraphrasing the irrefutable GWB!

Coulter gives a funny account, above, but for those of you who don’t like Coulter, try this one, below:http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive/0825061plame1.html

Plame and Wilson want to keep their address “covert” after announcing to the world that they live next door to their attorney, and after hosting parties and journalists and Democrat activists at their home!

Wilson truly outed Plame, by writing a false Op-Ed that brought attention to his wife.Valerie Plame was not “covert” anyway, but Plame would never have been an issue if Wilson, the publicity hound, had not gone political and attacked Bush with false charges.

But Wilson has the same freedom of speech that you do – doesn’t he?

  16. Posted September 28, 2006 at 8:44 pm | Permalink

Wilson pointed out the fact that the Bush administration was promoting false information to con the Congress in supporting an illegal invasion and occupation of Iraq. Promoting truth and facts may seem treasonous to Paul, but for the majority of people with morals it is comes from a sense of moral responsibility to do what’s right.

Sorry Paul, you are a traitor and you shame this nation with your lies.

    I join your call Capn.

I have said from refuting his first posts that Rosell is a “proll”.

For our readers, a “proll” is a poster paid to post opinions.

The charge of “proll” has not been levelled against any other poster on either side of issues on this forum. Yet it is almost universally charged to Paul F Rosell.

Wilson is a liar.Nobody in Washington trusts Wilson anymore, the man is used goods to everyone but the looney left.David Broder is hardly a conservative, and he has nothing nice to say about Wilson.Wilson lied about “yellow cake” — Wilson told the CIA that Saddams agents did visit Niger and did discuss trade. Niger’s only export is Uranium!Wilson claimed he turned in a written report of his trip, he did not.Wilson claimed his wife, Plame, had nothing to do with his assignment, an “unpaid” trip to Niger. When Wilson was confronted with a letter from Plame recommending him for the job, he backed down from his lies.Wilson also claimed to have seen “forged documents” on the yellow cake issue. However, Wilson later admitted, in a Senate hearing, that he “mispoke” on that issue, and had never seen those documents, and that the Bush administration had not relied on those documents anyway.Wilson is finished.None of you will admit, a year from now, that you ever even defended him.

Paul – There is zero evidence that Wilson’s wife got him the assignment. only that when she was asked she told them that he was familiar with the area. There is no reason he would have known about that.

By the way, how is the WMD hunt going? How is Ahmed Chalabi doing running Iraq? Where are the flowers?
