Thank goodness, what Wichita really needed was another chain restaurant to send it's profits back home to California. In Mayan's world progress is the closing of another locally owned business.

"WaterWalk signs its first restaurant and its second tenant!"

The Saddle Ranch Chop House of southern California has signed a letter of intent to open a restaurant in the downtown WaterWalk development. It's the first restaurant to sign on to the $130 million mixed-use development. WaterWalk President Tom Johnson says Saddle Ranch will open an 11,000-square-foot restaurant, with 2,400 square feet used for an outdoor dining area. The restaurant will be in the middle of WaterWalk near the development's amphitheater. For more information, click on http://www.wichitabusinessjournal.com.

**********

Alright, another bar in Wichita and this one only cost us tax payers $130 million! Keep it up Tom Johnson, we are paying these people to inhabit a overpriced, public facility... Doing great!

(Anyone notice the slight hint of sarcasm?)

Are the women in Iraq better off now than under Saddam? Guess if they never have to venture out in public, say to the market, bus stop, etc. and face getting blown to bits, then maybe. If they live in a 'mixed neighborhood', I think not!

GARTH McGINN FOR CONGRESS!!!

http://www.daretwocare.us/

This is Tiahrts opponent come November. Go over his site and read his platform. Hes not a career politician, and I believe he has a pragmatic sense about getting things done in congress.

Give him a shot!!!

gipper,

The women in Iraq under saddam were the most liberated in the entire arab world. Those same women, today, face gang rape if caught drinving cars or going with out the veil.

The situation for women under the new and improved Afghan government is not much better. It was reprted recently that that same, new and improved Afghan government came close to putting a man to death for the heinous crime of converting to Christianity. Next!!!

V.L.R.B!!

It's difficult to translate such atrocious grammar, but I'll give it a shot. We've done wonderful things for the women in Afghanistan. I watched a documentary about Afghan women being taught to style hair and such...such an industry never existed before. Awesome work.

Iraq under Saddam was secular, so women enjoyed opportunities for higher education and were not stifled by Islamic fundamentalism. Now it's likely that whatever the outcome of Iraq is, women are going to have less rights than they would under a secular government.

Interesting question to the feminist on this blog. Where do you stand on the oppression women faced in Afghanistan and Iraq before they became a democracy versus now? Be honest. Thinking about American democracy before the women vote, is Afghanistan and Iraq ahead or behind that point in time when American first game women the right to vote?

Hmm, I wonder how many of these pro-Israel "megaphones" are on our blog?

Israel's Government has thrown its weight behind efforts by supporters to counter what it believes to be negative bias and a tide of pro-Arab propaganda.

The Foreign Ministry has ordered trainee diplomats to track websites and chatrooms so that networks of U.S. and European groups with hundreds of thousands of Jewish activists can place supportive messages.

In the past week nearly 5,000 members of the World Union of Jewish Students (WUJS) have downloaded special "megaphone" software that alerts them to anti-Israeli chatrooms or internet polls to enable them to post contrary viewpoints. A student team in Jerusalem combs the web in a host of different languages to flag the sites so that those who have signed up can influence an opinion survey or the course of a debate.

Doron Barkat, 29, in Jerusalem, spends long nights trawling the web to try to swing the debate Israel's way. “When I see internet polls for or against Israel I send out a mailing list to vote for Israel,” he said. “It can be that after 15 minutes there will be 400 votes for Israel.

Israel's Foreign Ministry must avoid direct involvement with the campaign but is in contact with international Jewish and evangelical Christian groups, distributing internet information packs.Source: Times Online

Israel’s Government has thrown its weight behind efforts by supporters to counter what it believes to be negative bias and a tide of pro-Arab propaganda.

The Foreign Ministry has ordered trainee diplomats to track websites and chatrooms so that networks of U.S. and European groups with hundreds of thousands of Jewish activists can place supportive messages.

"Lieberman is the only Democratic incumbent currently trailing in the polls."???

He shows Lieberman leading.

Looks like it will be close - you might get your 20 back!
