Let me explain this to you as smply as I possibly can Meadowpoop.

You are not welcome here. Many from here have visited your Salina blog. It is a dead place……….fitting for a shill like you.

Get on back there why don’t you?

  3. Posted August 14, 2006 at 12:56 am | Permalink

Goodness, a Republican who donated a total of $150. My goodness, with $150 out of the millions that Sebelius has raised that is just like buying your way into a job. How could the Sebelius campaign go on without that $150?

That’s an average of $37.50 a year in donations. This person must be breaking their bank to make all those donations.

Hey Earl, why not report something that’s actually newsworthy and interesting.

  4. Posted August 14, 2006 at 1:00 am | Permalink

I quit, when the press reports ALL the news.

Instead of posting links, I’d be more than happy to post complete articles. That way, I’m not a shill. You can have the complete article right here then.

Did someone at the Eagle appoint you gatekeeper?

I think you shill the Republican con that the press is biased. It could be that the facts are biased against your positions.

    KSmeadowlark,

I really do hope you stay around, if just for the simple fact that it bothers JR!

I also like your insight on the attorney general race. I don’t have the time to follow it from here in Camp Pendleton, but it is nice to see you are keeping up the good fight!

I have met the Kline several times and he is a really nice person.

    Meadowlark,

You are welcome here. This is relevant, interesting stuff.

I thought the left was so tolerant.

Doug, JR, Steve Davis – are you afraid of another point of view?

And please, let’s not argue about the press being biased. We know that it is and you comment reflects exactly why that is; you think the “facts” are against Meadowlark’s view.

In this case, what are those “facts”?

HOW THINGS WORK IN TEXASThursday, August 3, 2006Posted by Jim HightowerTwo lucky Texans are getting their dream home – a spacious apartment in a primo location, it comes rent free, all utilities paid, and with parking. Best of all, this fortunate couple is being treated to a million-dollar renovation of this fabulous property!

This might sound like one of those “extreme makeover” home shows on TV, or maybe some heartwarming story from the luxury edition of Habitat for Humanity – but, no, this is the touching tale of Tom and Nadine Craddick. He’s speaker of the Texas house of representatives and quite a wealthy fellow who already owns two other homes.

As speaker, though, Tom gets the rare political perk of living in a publicly-financed apartment located inside the state capitol, just behind the house chamber. It was renovated only a decade ago, but, alas, the historic apartment just isn’t up to Tom and Nadine’s fancier tastes, so they want a re-renovation, complete with a top-of-the-line kitchen re-do. They feel that the existing kitchen is “woefully inadequate” for entertaining, so they want an upgrade.

Being an anti-government Republican, however, Tom rejected public funding for the project. Does that mean he put up his own money? Oh, no, no, child! He turned to his closest buddies – corporate lobbyists. Asking them for the cash, he noted that their donations would be “a lasting gift to all Texans.”

That’s sweet, but actually the speaker’s apartment is off-limits to the public, so they’ll never see their “gift.” Nonetheless, such special interests as water speculators, horse track operators, nuclear waste dumpers, and others wanting legislative favors from Tom were quick to give. Not that there’s any quid pro quo here. AT & T (which gave $250,000) claims they gave “out of [our] interest in historic preservation.”

This is Jim Hightower saying… Not only do these corporate givers get on Tom’s good side – they also get a tax deduction for their generosity!

  16. Steven Davis
    Posted August 14, 2006 at 10:17 am | Permalink

    Ed Smiley,

I am not afraid of any point of view unlike Right Wing Republican Hacks such as your friend Meadowlark.

I assume that you think the press has a left leaning bias. Fox News would be an example of that not being true. The Washington Post goes to sometimes painful lengths to offer “both” sides of a story.

I think the left bias is a Republican fiction that too many people believe.

I believe, as a person, Phill Kline is a nice guy. I have heard this from many people who have met him. I am suspicious of him because I think his ideology and political agenda over-ride any policy; in much the same way as we saw with the KS BOE. Kansans have had enough of that sort of stuff – as evidenced by the defeat of Connie Morris.

Kline’s medical records issues with Tiller, have the distinct appearance of political pay back. And, as my grandmother used to say, “where there is smoke, there usually is fire.”

As far as meadowlark’s biases being “fact” see the “Morrison getting tough on Kline” thread where Doug systematically refutes KSM’s “truths”.

I have a distinctly reviled belief that the truth is a moving target, rather than an unchanging construct. This idea of course would not be held by you or Meadowlark, which convinces me all the more that I am correct.

As I’ve said on Meadowlurk’s blog, hope to see you at Morrison’s victory party.

The actors are actually a private comapny comprised of many different individuals.

The guy who runs the company has aspiring actors who do this as a means of income while they pursue their hollywood dreams.

Mainly it was varying degrees of old people and a bunch of youth.

The neat thing was that they also hired actual former Iraqi citizens and Kurds too.

The overall operation was run by some mercenary security group.

All in all it was pretty neat training. That picture doesn’t give the best feel for what it was like.

It gave the Marines a really good idea of what to expect when confronted with a not so happy crowd.

Hmm, I wonder how many of these pro-Israel “megaphones” are on our blog?

Israel’s Government has thrown its weight behind efforts by supporters to counter what it believes to be negative bias and a tide of pro-Arab propaganda.

The Foreign Ministry has ordered trainee diplomats to track websites and chatrooms so that networks of U.S. and European groups with hundreds of thousands of Jewish activists can place supportive messages.

In the past week nearly 5,000 members of the World Union of Jewish Students (WUJS) have downloaded special “megaphone” software that alerts them to anti-Israeli chatrooms or internet polls to enable them to post contrary viewpoints. A student team in Jerusalem combs the web in a host of different languages to flag the sites so that those who have signed up can influence an opinion survey or the course of a debate.

Doron Barkat, 29, in Jerusalem, spends long nights trawling the web to try to swing the debate Israel’s way. “When I see internet polls for or against Israel I send out a mailing list to vote for Israel,” he said. “It can be that after 15 minutes there will be 400 votes for Israel.

Israel’s Foreign Ministry must avoid direct involvement with the campaign but is in contact with international Jewish and evangelical Christian groups, distributing internet information packs.Source: Times Online

Interesting question to the feminist on this blog. Where do you stand on the oppression women faced in Afghanistan and Iraq before they became a democracy versus now? Be honest. Thinking about American democracy before the women vote, is Afghanistan and Iraq ahead or behind that point in time when American first game women the right to vote?

It’s difficult to translate such atrocious grammar, but I’ll give it a shot. We’ve done wonderful things for the women in Afghanistan. I watched a documentary about Afghan women being taught to style hair and such…such an industry never existed before. Awesome work.

Iraq under Saddam was secular, so women enjoyed opportunities for higher education and were not stifled by Islamic fundamentalism. Now it’s likely that whatever the outcome of Iraq is, women are going to have less rights than they would under a secular government.

The women in Iraq under saddam were the most liberated in the entire arab world. Those same women, today, face gang rape if caught drinving cars or going with out the veil.

The situation for women under the new and improved Afghan government is not much better. It was reprted recently that that same, new and improved Afghan government came close to putting a man to death for the heinous crime of converting to Christianity. Next!!!

“WaterWalk signs its first restaurant and its second tenant!”

The Saddle Ranch Chop House of southern California has signed a letter of intent to open a restaurant in the downtown WaterWalk development. It’s the first restaurant to sign on to the $130 million mixed-use development. WaterWalk President Tom Johnson says Saddle Ranch will open an 11,000-square-foot restaurant, with 2,400 square feet used for an outdoor dining area. The restaurant will be in the middle of WaterWalk near the development’s amphitheater. For more information, click on http://www.wichitabusinessjournal.com.
