Where’s the Eagle’s reportabout Sebelius’ abuse of political appointments, such as this:

Sebelius appoints former PAC Chair of “Republicans for Sebelius” to District Judgehttp://www.saljournal.com/blogs/?p=1107

    or

Sebelius appoints wife of “dean of Ellis County Democratic politics” to Supreme Court Nominating Commission.http://www.kansasmeadowlark.com/2006/07-03/index.htm

Did all Kansas Congressmen abuse their franking priviledge the way Congress Dennis Moore just did? With about $1,000,000 campaign cash in the bank, Moore stuck taxpayers with two recent political mailings trying to skirt the rule about mailing 90 days before an election:http://www.kansasmeadowlark.com/2006/08-06/index.htm

But with 20-day advance voting in Kansas, didn’t Moore violate the franking rules? (Don’t expect the KC Star to report any of this)

The Meadowlark poop aside, I’d like to introduce a question to this forum.

Do you feel that George bush has commited high crimes and misdemeanors worthy of impeachment? Let us have a vote among the posters here. Should bush be impeached? I say yes. Should bush be removed from office? I say yes.

Should bush be imprisoned? I’ll judge him by his own standard of imprisoning others without trial and again say yes.

    What say you?

I say the only saving grace of the Bush administration is their profound incompetence. If they were able to do what they wanted to do, things would be much worse.

I would think any of Bush’s many lies could be the foundation for impeachment. I say yes, “bring it on!”

It seem so long ago that I became convinced that he had in fact committed “High Crimes and misdemeanors” along with the majority of his cabinet.Yes he and a list too long to write here should be impeached, kicked out and criminally charged including with treason and war crimes.

KS Meadowlark,First off, to the victor go the spoils. So your tirades are basically meaningless. You dont like Sebelius, ergo, if she appoints anybody, it doesn’t sit well with you.

Second, Congress Dennis Moore,s mailing appear to fall within guidelines, and, from what I read, seem to follow allowed guidelines. All mailings from politically elected officials could be called political, if you want them to be. More nonesense.

The main thing we are being told about the increase in gas prices is that the demands from China and India are cutting back on the supply and hence raising the price. The vast majority of income growth in both China and India are concentrated in a relatively few people (the super rich in those countries are getting richer – sound familiar?). Thus I am not buying it that there are a bunch of Chinese and Indian workers are competing with me for gasoline. Hell, in China an unknown amount of labor comes from an imprisoned population. People behind bars are being forced to work.

As usual, we are getting hosed on gasoline prices. Nary a word comes out of our federal government about this situation. All time record oil company profits are being reported from last quarter — even surpassing the record profits from last year.

When was the last time Saudia Arabia boosted their pumping efforts? That’s right, right before the 2004 election. Makes ya go – hmmm…

    Good morning, Tracy.

The following are some GINI coefficients. A GINI coefficient is an indication of income/wealth distribution. It spans from 0 to 1.0. Zero being perfect wealth equality – every one person has the same amount of money – to perfect inequality (1.0) where one person has all the money.

    The numbers below are from Greg Palast (2006):Scandinavian countries (Sweden, Norway and Denmark) – .25India – .33USA – .41China – .45

In terms of income distribution, China is considered nearly a feudal society. See how close the U.S. is to them.

I hope primary voters remember how well the Bush policies are working for them.

As Reagan once asked (a paraphrase): “Are you better off than you were 6 years ago?”

“Are you asked to produce less with more resources to do your work?”

“Has your income kept up with the productivity you are asked to provide?”

If you are like most American workers, your will answer a resounding “NO” to the above questions.

I know, it’s rather outdated, and rather radical. But 18 cents tax on the gallon when gas is topping $3 is rather miniscule. Proceeds from the tax can be used to fund alternative energy source, so when the end time of oil comes around the US can go on humming while oil-dependent economy will screech to a halt.

    http://aydin.net/blog/2006/01/12/gas-costs-around-the-world/

Again, this is from last January before the current spike. US price is about $2.30/gal ($0.60/litre), with roughly 21% tax. But note that Turkey, a rather impoverished country, has a 225% gas tax. Even Canada seems to double US rate. Consume less, sell them abroad for profit.

On another tangent, high global gas price can be used to bankrupt Iran, since they have to import refined gasoline and sell them with heavy subsidy.

I heard on the BBC/NPR overnight that the price was up to $78/barrel because of this shut down. BP has had a horrible record of leaks, etc. Instead of me paying for their crappy business practices, how ’bout them footing the bill with some heavy fines. Never mind, I forgot the pass they get from our “you’re additcted to oil” administration.

Of course the preznit has committed high crimes, (forget the misdemeanors) and should be impeached immediately, removed from office, and put on trial here for ignoring the rule of law, and he should also be tried internationally for war crimes and violating the Geneva agreements.

Ditto on cheney. Even hastert couldnt be as bad as they are.

This admninistration has to go before the constitution is completely destroyed, and the rest of the world begins to punish us both economically and militarily.

This administration has made us MORE vulnerable to attack, not less. He has our military so overextended that it appears any third rate bully can cause us big problems in terms of national defense.

Maybe the church didnt want to lose the ability to be above the campaign finance laws and “brother” terry’s illegal campaigning was bringing heat on the church?

heheh. So leave the church and tell the truth. You are a full time politico, not a preacher. About time you admited it.

I mean, he is leaving the pulpit so he can stop the charade of being a man of god and he can finally tell the truth.

He is a man of the GOP.

He should obey the campaing finance and disclosure laws.

His church should stick to preaching and building idol like buildings.

Instead, this move will ensure that he doesnt kill the golden goose (or is is golden calf?) of political fundraising that masks itself as a church. That GOP cash just keeps rolling in.

He wins all around. He still controls the thoughts and actions of his church members, (motivation?) he still gets their financial report, and he is out from under the thumb of IRS suspicion.

IF A REPORT FALLS IN THE FOREST…

It’s been about 48 hours since Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee issued a sweeping indictment of the Bush administration’s casual approach to law-breaking in a report called, “The Constitution in Crisis.”

    How’s the media reaction been?

Using Lexis-Nexis and Google News, it appears that the only mainstream media outlet — literally, the only one — to even mention the release of the report was CNN, when Jack Cafferty devoted 200 words to the subject late last week.

To be fair, the timing of the release wasn’t ideal. A Friday afternoon in August was probably not the way to maximize exposure for the report.

Regardless, this is a well-documented, thoroughly-researched report about the Bush administration possibly violating over two dozen federal laws and regulations — some of them multiple times.

And yet, nothing in the AP; nothing in any of the major dailies; nothing on ABC, CBS, or NBC. Not one word.

First, many of us frequently feel like congressional Democrats need to be aggressive and go on the offensive more, but let’s not forget, even when they do, much the media blows off what Dems have to say.

And second, if Dems accuse the administration of criminal activity, and it’s widely ignored, does it really make a sound?

–Guest Post by Steve Benen, The Carpetbagger Report

So much for that biased liberal media.

And the documentation of the crimes committed by bushco and others in this administration?

heheh. If crimes go unreported in the forest….

What is wrong with young people these days?!

ONLY 20 PERCENT APPROVE OF OUR GREAT LEADER, THE COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF OF THE WORLD

Aug. 7 (Bloomberg) — President George W. Bush’s hopes of attracting a new generation of voters to the Republican Party may be fading, as younger Americans are far more critical of his job performance than the broader population.

A Bloomberg/Los Angeles Times poll of Americans age 18 to 24 found Bush’s approval rating was 20 percent, with 53 percent disapproving and 28 percent with no opinion. That compares to a 40 percent approval rating among Americans of all ages in a separate Bloomberg/Times poll.

Much like Franklin Roosevelt attracted a new generation of voters with the New Deal, Bush and his administration have had high hopes of drawing younger voters to his party. He has sought to do that through policy initiatives aimed at creating an “ownership society,” and public relations tactics like a Youth Convention at the party’s 2004 national convention, in which his twin daughters took the stage.

Among the initiatives aimed at drawing a new generation into the Republican fold are health-care savings accounts, elimination of the so-called marriage penalty in the U.S. tax code, and Bush’s proposal to create private investment accounts from a portion of Social Security payroll taxes. `Younger Americans really want to see some leadership,” Bush said last year as he launched his Social Security plan.

Instead, the Social Security initiative flopped in Congress after attracting criticism from the public and lawmakers of both parties, and health-care savings accounts haven’t done much to expand coverage, with only about 1 percent of the U.S. population currently participating in them.

Isnt it Hank who always posts that?

OF COURSE he doesnt want you to read the report. So he discredits the author, so you will scroll by the link ’cause you already know John Conyers…

heheh. Very typical tactic for the republicanus assholeus species. Cant refute the facts, so discredit the author, then blame it all one (pick one: Clinton, Ted Kennedy, Cynthia McKinney or now JOHN CONYERS?)

Those tactics of the talking point right are old and tired. Just like this phrase: move along here, nothing to see, scroll on by.

Heheh. They hope you WONT click on the link.

Why do they hate links? Why do they hate america? Why do they love terrorists? Oh sombody rescue me from meme heeeeelllllll……..

    Hank Price,

” “The Constitution in Crisis”An incredibly idiotic report that merely regurgitates a bunch of false charges that have been previously debunked.”

Will Hank quickly provide credible links that debunk John Conyers’ “false charges”?

A better link, if you don’t want to download the entire 350+ page report,http://www.truthout.org/docs_2006/080406R.shtml

Hey farm girl! How did your opening weekend go?

Still trying to work out a trip to Osbourne that includes a chance to sample your culinary delights!

Rice is such a stooge for Israeli propaganda, it’s nonsense to give her TV time. She actually said this:

“US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, commenting on Friday’s pro-Hizbullah rallies in Baghdad that featured protestors burning US flags and chanting “death to America,” said that Iraq was not in danger of becoming another Iran.”

    Hi Hank, thanks for asking.

We had a record breaking weekend. Almost ran out of food on Saturday night. Business has done fairly well for such a short time.

I, however, am thinking that perhaps 50 was not the time to start this career. I thought someone was following me this morning, but it turns out it was my hiney dragging the ground!

And the drought on the farm continues…

    Hang in there girl!

The Colonel didn’t start his KFC empire until he was 65!

Hope you get some rain soon, we got some the other day but only the weeds noticed.

Our lake is down about 2 ft and my well either went dry or the pump got tired of pumping sand. So when I say I understand, I do!

    Hank

    PS 50! You’re just a baby!

  79. GaryC.
    Posted August 7, 2006 at 6:41 pm | Permalink

I wonder if Fox slept with the church secretary?

Believe me I heard about this up in Manhattan, Kansas where a local preacher had been fooling around with the church secretary. I was told he never truly admitted the affair in front of his congregation. He just said him and his wife were having issues and that he was stepping down.

Probably not likely in the Fox case, but if it was I would just have to laugh and shake my head in disgust.

    Copy that Walker.

With Fox now joining Wright in stepping down from the literal pulpit, my guess is they are planning to become active in the fugurative one at a level that might have brought the attention of the IRS to their churches. Their radio show IS national now.

By the way you can vote with your dollars your “support” for Fox and Wright! Their radio show is sponsored locally by Wendy’s, Ryan’s Steakhouse (east one only), Bosley tire and Specs optical as far as I know.

I think she is a wonderful lady, who has turned Park city around completely. She has great plans for the future, and knows how to get the job done. Unlike many politicians in this county.
