Say good-bye to the Wranglers, Wichita.
Great video of John Dean on Countdown about the NeoCons.

Great animation of how the end of the world will come around…

Another good one about Religion and freedom of the press…

Well I might have wasted about six bucks! I bought “The secret history of the Iraq war” I have just read the first page and a half of the intro. Saddam and OBL were in concert to nuke the U.S. and thank God G.W. Bush is soo wise and thoughtful. He stop them! The Author just can not figure out what took Bush so long to invaded?
I may have been wrong that it is the P.N.A.C that controls the White house. Judging from the books on the shelves. Wal-Mart make have bought the White House!Or Cheney had threaten Bentonville with an invasion if they did not play along. I will keep reading and see if the author does anything to sheld light on the invasion and the aftermath. Or just talks up Bush and down the American people… It really is our fault you know!
The Wranglers never become apart of the community so why did they expect the community to support them? The players were not out doing any public service and if you wanted to get an autograph at a game they would go the other way.
Good luck being the snobs that you are in Arkansas. It will be good to get a team in here that wants to play ball and become a part of the community.
Why not renovate L-D Stadium, put a dome over it, and call it ” The New Arena”? Oh, sorry.. that would probably save umpteen million dollars, and blow some really sweet real estate deals….
Yeah! Bye Wranglers and nobody will miss you. Good luck in Arkansas.
I’m actually glad they’re going. Farm Leauge teams don’t attach themselves with the community. I went to a Triple A game in OKC when I was down there for a business trip. The attendance was sparse. Not even OKC cares.
I guess we have teams already knocking on our door. I like the prospect of the independent leagues, like the Northern Leauge, which players stay and are not going up and down the farm system.
Good Luck!
Good idea KsSam – seriously! Even if we were to just tear down LD and build the Arena there it would be better than the current location. Land is already in Cith hands; infrastructure mostly in place. A little improvement to the roads to access Kellogg; then with existing access to McLean I think it would work.
The only thing I’ll say bout the wranglers leaving is that my kids do enjoy the games but they are too young to know why or what is going on… So they will leave and they will ask me to go to a game and ill have to tell them that they arnt there anyway more… That will disappointment them and me.
But i like the idea of converting LD into the new Arena… they could build a neat little foot bridge across the river to Century II! But Livingston has so much property under the current plot, it wont happen… Can we say, conflict of interest?
This is extremely rude, so our more sensitive bloggers might want to scroll by. Especially if you are humor or irony impaired.
The rude one has guest bloggers this week, and this one nails the fundie fear of gay men.
heheheh

Pro-Murtha rally drowns out swiftboating tactics!
News from the front lines! Today we held the pro-John Murtha rally against the “Vets for the Truth” and their false accusations against Congressman Murtha. May I first say that I have never been more proud of Pennsylvania district 12, the city of Johnstown or Congressman Murtha. This truly was Western Pennsylvania politics at its finest.
We had roughly 200 Murtha supporters outside of Jack’s office, which was huge for such short notice. It was considerably better than the 10-20 people gathered across the street at Cambria County Republican Headquarters, where the “Vets for the Truth” held their rally. Here is the video to the story. This video, however, cannot even begin to describe the atmosphere at the event.
As I have mentioned before, I am a young activist here in Cambria County. For the past 3 days we have been gearing up for this event in every possible way we could. You name it, we did it. Nothing prepared me, however, for the scene I witnessed this morning as I walked to Jack Murtha’s office. It seemed as if people all across the district, many veterans included, had come out to support our Congressman. “I won’t back down” was blaring out of several huge speakers and people were pissed and pumped for Jack. I refer to it as a rally, not a protest, because this was truly what a rally should be. It was so very well orchestrated, with powerful speakers, water, and lunches for everybody who showed up. Sen. Max Cleland was terrific and was a great way to end the rally. To roughly paraphrase him, “I wasn’t wounded in Vietnam; I just went duck hunting with Dick Cheney.”
The opposition was definitely threatened and their plan backfired. “Vets for the Truth” clearly had underestimated the strength of support for Congressman Murtha. In one instance, Larry Bailey, the president of the lying bastards, came over to our rally and held an anti-Murtha sign. My good friend and fellow activist, Justin, saw this and got in front of him to drown him out. Larry Bailey then proceeded to shove him and throw his elbow into Justin’s face. Bailey was clearly threatened, got into several arguments until the police started to follow him. He left our rally, visually pissed off.
Congressman John Murtha could use everybody’s support. We need to end these swift boating tactics once and for all, and I think this is the race that will finally do it! Please help out Congressman Murtha in any way you can!
*****
Not this time, swiftboating smear scum . . . not this time.

Truly the only folks that should be whining about the Wranglers leaving are the 3,000 attenders.. the rest of us have no room to complain. We DO, however, need to consider the updating of L-D Stadium soon. Otherwise, don’t be surprised if “NBC Tournament Leaving Wichita” is the next headline we read!
How can you blame the Wranglers for wanting to go? They have an opportunity to snag a brand new catchy name… like the “Arkansaw Aardvarks”. I can almost picture the logo now…. hahahaha!!!!
I’m sorta glad my Dad didn’t live to see this Wranglers thing. It would have made him so sad.
That said, I dislike the way the Wranglers are treating the community…..skulking around and dancing in the shadows.
I know that if things continue as they are now, I’ll attend no more of their games.
Hey ksfarmgrrl,
Good luck this weekend with your Grand Opening! I actually thought about trying to come up this weekend and combine the trip with a visit to friends in Osbourne but they’re going to be gone this weekend.
I’m going to Salina instead. I promise that Joyce and I will visit soon. In the mean time, I wish you the greatest success!
Hank
I see that Brad (outlandr) is trolling me again. That’s cute Brad.
I suppose that I should be honored that Brad would think me worthy of picking on. I must be doing something effective.
Yeah out,
“outlandr”’s post is better than anything you would ever give us!
He has also honored NotJoCo. Again with a better than the usual No post!
Slumming I guess?
Trolling I call.
The puple chicken is watching………….
Hank,
I was just wondering where you’d gone off to. Glad to see you posting again.
How about investing into a joint venture with WSU and upgrade their stadium to accomodate the NBC? Then follow through on KsFG’s idea above.
Hankler you funny!
Hank you can be funny too, but I’m talking about a name changer from a different thread.
Girl, ya’ need to come back and call somebody a vapid blogfart again.I learn a funny new snarky daily.
Hey RD,
Been pretty busy, yesterday was my day off and I ran down to Oklahoma to get some help on Samson’s outrun and to get my puppy ’started’. I’ve been working with my dogs most of my spare time.
We’ll be gone for around 3 weeks starting Aug. 29th. Going up to Spokane for a four day trial then over to Oregon for the Bearded Collie Club’s national specialty.
Samson’s doing pretty good with AKC herding trials this year and we have high hopes for the specialty. I’ve got the best dog in the country (my humble, objective opinion) but there are about a dozen handlers that are much better trialing than I am.
It will be fun, interesting. I use to be a part time fly fishing guide in Idaho and hopefully I’ll get to show Joyce some of my old haunts up there.
(my humble, objective opinion)
See, I said you were funny too!!
No, really Tracy!
If I wasn’t so humble I’d be perfect.
Hank
I know. You thought you were wrong once, but you were mistaken.
You made a mistake the other day, outlander. And you’ve been so careful for so long–

I suppose you’ll explain this as just a coincidence, kinda like the earth heating up and CO2 levels rising, heh . . .
Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men? It’s CHICKEN MAN !!
HE’S EVERYWHERE!
HE’S EVERYWHERE!
YOU MEAN THE WINGED WARRIOR??
He was seen hanging out at the Hiney Winery in Kechi!
A vote against Lieberman is a vote against Bill Clinton!
Well, Joe, if you believe that BS then I hope that after Tuesday you believe that everyone in CT voted against Bill Clinton.
Liberman was a mistake to run for president with.
Only the leftist fringe Democrats who took over the party.
Bill Clinton is campaigning for Lieberman. Just to let you know.
Throwing away a great man, for a nobody, just because of the war.*shakes head*
The war did in Humphrey too. So it goes …
To claim, as Joe does, that “only” the war is doing in Lieberman, is, well, predictable, coming from him.
During the president primaries in 2004, I got a bumper sticker: “Joe Lieberman–A New Kind of Democrat: The Republican Kind.”
While I hardly speak for the Democratic party, Joe’s sterling performace (he didn’t even win Connecticut!) shows that Dem voters agreed with me.
I guess so! I just hate to see a good man from the Senate get thrown out.
It probably will become a Republican seat now. But the primaries sow their beans that way.
Rage! What other issues, besides the war, do the fringe Democrats disapprove of with Lieberman?
They guy has a strong liberal voting record.
It’s the war stupid!
Please, everyone, do not confuse me with any imitators.
OSH:”I suppose you’ll explain this as just a coincidence, kinda like the earth heating up and CO2 levels rising, heh . . . ”
I’ll concede that I can be dense, but could you explain what I am supposed be seeing with those series of Outlander and others’ posts?
Anybody want to have some fun? This is off topic of politics, but I thought this was awesome.
Send a personalize message of Samuel L. Jackson to a friend or family on their phone. It’s so funny. Benn sending them to all my friends.

COWTOWN IDEAS!!
I have some ideas for cowtown that could possibly help save it.
First off, have any of you been to the Sheperad of the Hills production near Branson? Its a great show in an outdoor setting.
Now I have not been to Cowtown in I would say 8 years, but from what I remember I think there is room for a small outdoor amphitheatre. Please correct me If Im wrong. My main idea is to have an extravagant western style play, that is shown on a weekly basis during the warmer months, that is comparable in production to sheperd of the hills. It could be about the history of kansas, it could be about the history of Wichita etc. There could be a lineup of other western plays, not just one. I think a production of this nature could draw out of towners if it was done right.
Tell me what you think!!!
What is to become of the Kansas Coliseum after the Arena is built?
Im short on any good ideas.
Is it possible to remove certain parts of the building (roof, south end) to produce an outdoor amphitheatre?
It may not be pretty, but some seat color changes, and few buckts of paint could do the trick.
Your thoughts please!!
The Kansas Coliseum is going to be turned into a dirt floor arena. For rodeos, circuses, monster trucks, autocrossing, and etc.
An interesting idea for Cowtown Gary. And good to see you posting again.
Not so fast on the future of the Coliseum Joe.
The arena may be recalled. I would join an effort to do that.
And if anyone comes on here with the SN of writerdog and raves about being a closet cross-dresser who likes to smear white paint all over his body and dance the funky chicken…That will more then likely NOT be me! LoL
(the proceeding was brought to you by someone that at the moment thinks he is writerdog. Though that moment may have passed and now he is Queen Ann)
(The following of the proceeding was brought to you by someone who may think he is Queen Ann. But in fact is Mary Queen of Scots! She has just lost her head!)
(Pay no attention to the following of the following of the proceeding as the person that wrote it is tired and need to get some sleep as it has been a long day. He is also just stopped writing a very serious piece to post to the next Open blog. And wanted to say something really silly to counter act the seriousness of the piece he was writing as all seriousness makes writerdog somewhat boring to be around and make cause E.D. God I hate the thought of being boring!)
(The proceeding which is after the following of the following of the proceeding , should not be construed as an admission of being boring at times or that the author is or has ever suffered E.D. Or as it is referred to as “Ed”. Though E.D. is a serious condition that effect many men between the age of thirty nine and death (or might as well be dead or wish for death when the mood is right and that damn thing just will not…Never mind) Ed is one of my favorite posters and should never be thought of as a sexual dysfunction. Both are serious and should be receiving some kind of treatment for the disorder that effects them. But unlike E.D., there is not pill that Ed could take that will make Israel go away!
Though many may have read some of Ed’s posts and thought “That Prick!” The two are not one in the same nor I would think Israel have interfered with an evenings enjoyment for Ed. Causing him to suffer E.D. but if so there are many fine treatment for E.D., Ed!)
Good night!
Won’t happen JR.
The county has already spents millions on design and acquisitions. They are already slated to tear down buildings in a few months. They have already contracted with utility companies to relocate utilities and the main drain is already being installed.
Architectural designs are in their final phase, which should be done by January. Construction begins next year. Tax collection have already raised half the money.
How are you going to recall all of that? Just walk away from millions of dollars already spent? Just throw it down the sewer, because we have CAVE people bitchin?
If you recall the arena, the county would have wasted tens of millions of dollars for nothing.
You might want to think again about what you’re saying.
Stick a fork in it. It’s a done deal! Recalling the arena is like recalling the Kellogg expansion out east. Just give up, leave everything as is and that’s it.
That isn’t a smart decision.
Saw a show on modern marvels or something.
There is an arena in Toronto I think. Engineering marvel! It has a dome that opens fully up. It cost 375 milion dolllars.
And for 250 million dollars we get the piece of crap we “voted” for?
I won’t start a recall Joe. But if one gets started I will be VERY active.

The downtown arena is only going to cost around $77 million. Not $250 million. The dome in Toronto is almost 5 times the cost. Yeah! If we had that much money to build, we would have the same thing.
Remember! Lots of money goes into design, demolition, structual engineering, land acquisitions, streets, utlities (they are going as far as Waterwalk to install the main drain line for the arena), then lets not forget around $25 million set aside for operation cost for the next 20 years, and $10 million going towards the old Kansas Colisuem.
There is a difference between construction cost and actual cost. That $375 million dome in Toronto, actually cost $600 million in total, in 1989 dollars. Adusting for inflation, the project would cost $935 million dollars. To be fair, I’ll even adjust the Canadian dollar to USA dollars, just to lower the amount. It would be $830 million dollars.
So much for our piece of crap right?

Calm down about the design folks.
You will not get the full effect until it is built and you see it in broad daylight. Look at the east side of that drawing. It looks superb with all that fine glass and angled edge.
Im sure we will all be impressed once it has come to be.
I for one would like to see the downtown buildings painted. Can we get some grants for that?
I will still support any effort to recall this arena that was sold on a lie.
Gary! Actually there is believe it or not.
Businesses and owners of buildings downtown are elible for a paint and facsade repair grants up to $15,000.
JR!
It wasn’t sold on a lie. Honestly! I think you’re against the arena project, because I’m for it. You just want to be opposite of me. You hate me that much.
You’re like a wedgie. Always up in my butt and I always got to pick you out.
Have a nice night man!
Yes Joe,
I read about that, but I think it was only available so many stories up.
Im particulary talking about paint to cover our oldest tallest buildings as seen from the highway. In particular the SBC building!! For goodness sake that blue has got to go. If it were a midnight blue, black, or dark gray it would look more modern.
Gary C.: Yes, I’m sure taxpayers will “get the full effect” of the downtown ice hockey arena once a quarter billion dollars of tax payers money is squandered on the boondogle white elephant. Its a shame and travesty to spend that much money on something for which no known need exists when literally hundreds of important needs in Sedgwick County are going unaddressed.
The arena needs to be RE-VOTED on now before more good money is poured after bad. Unless the arena is voted on again, bad feelings in this county are going to exist for years.
Interesting letter in today’s paper saying the Arena is too small – it will not attract things like NCAA sub-regionals because it will not qualify. It would have to be 18,000 seats for that.
RECALL!
RECALL RECALL RECALL RECALL!
Let me say something real quick.
I was for the arena in CONCEPT but against it in reality. I saw it for what it was, a give away to the cities Good ‘Ol Boys and a huge waste of money.
You can see this just by looking at who owns the land under the arena design. Half of the land owners have direct ties or indirect ties to someone involved in the arena process.
Hell Bill Livingston owns a couple of empty parking lots there and stands to make a killing off the land. He was instrumental to the location of the Arena.
The ONLY way something like this can be built is by having a non-partisan citizen committee oversight, not the hand picked group of kiss ass’s that are there.
The Arena should be recalled, redesigned and re-voted. This is redicuolous.
It would be interesting to see how much Livingston gets for his land compared with on-going businesses that are being run out of town.
Yea, Belford Electric is the poster child for the businesses being forced out of business because of this arena…
What i dont understand is that a empty bar is getting more money than what an ongoing business is being offered.
If bought my land, built my own building and am making money in my current location. Dont you think that I deserve a complete relocation package?
New building, exactly as the one I have is, same sized land and moving expenses? I do. I am the one being forced to move to accommodate someone else’s arena. My business shouldn’t suffer because of it.
Joe Williams don’t flatter yourself. I was against the arena before I ever knew you.
RE CALL !
Joe Williams don’t flatter yourself. I was against the arena before I ever knew you.
RE CALL !
Ben I found some interesting information from this link
http://www.ou.edu/class/hss5263/MarketingPlanSample.pdf
From page 3 of 17
“The NCAA solicits bids from member institutions and conferences to host firstandsecond-round games, regional tournaments, and the Final Four. The announcementsfor site selections are made several years in advance, with the first- and second-round andregional sites chosen through 2003 and the Final Four sites through 2007 (NCAA,1999b). Requirements for hosting these events, such as arena site (capacity of at least12,000), are developed and modified by the NCAA.”
Only 12000, so we might have a shot.
