When no endorsement might be better than two

Kansans for Life signaled its level of comfort with two of the three leading GOP contenders for governor, endorsing both Sen. Jim Barnett, R-Emporia, and fathering guru Ken Canfield of Overland Park. Former House Speaker Robin Jennison of Healy was snubbed, despite a longtime pro-life voting record. What looks like their tie might work against Barnett and Canfield at the Aug. 1 primary, though. As Bob Beatty, a Washburn University professor, told The Topeka Capital-Journal, “This dual endorsement gives credence to the possibility of a Canfield-Barnett split for the conservative vote, which might help Jennison.”

That’s good, because Jennison is clearly the best candidate on the Republican side. He would make a fine governor.

He’s a nicer guy than I remembered…but he and his wife are both still lobbyists.

Jennison is a crook (check some of his “wildlife” promotions and the controversy over “prizes” promised but never awarded. He is also a panderer of the worst order, but….

…he is good on water policy, and supports the concept of beneficial use. And recreational use of water as an economic development tool. He doesnt cowtow to the “municiple use above all else” crowd. If you are worried about water policy in kansas, Jennison has the best record and ideas.

He is, however, from irrigation country in sw kansas. When they start filling his campaign coffers like they do the war chest of governor leadership, will he do what she did?

Sell out the long term beneficial use of water the state already owns? Ignore science and make water policy by politics like sebelius did with her butt buddy democrats in hays?

Make Steve Irsik the head of the Kansas Water Board and put Joe Harkins in charge to do his best dick cheney impressions? Rape the water resources to benefit a few big campaign donors? Those are sebelius trademarks.

I hope Jennison does better, but I fear he, like less than chatty kathy, will be for sale to the highest bidder. Just like kansas water is now.

    heheh. laughing at myself.

Of course, the choosing of the governor and the direction of the state couldnt be decided by something as important as water policy.

Hell no, not when we have god, guns, and gays to worry about!

Jennison would be better than our current Governor. But at this point anyone would be better than our current Governor.

MRC – you seem to have a problem with lobbyists so you may want to support legislation to get rid of all lobbyists including those for schools, social services, children etc.

Barnett will make a find Governor. We have to address the Health issues of this state and I think as a Doctor Barnett can do that.
