Rep. Todd Tiahrt, R-Goddard, was among the House members mentioned in an Associated Press story about the hundreds of informal lawmaker clubs, which aren’t subject to lobbying disclosure laws. The story noted that the “caucuses offer companies, interest groups and their lobbyists an opportunity to schmooze lawmakers out of public sight.”
Tiahrt’s mentioned affiliation was with the Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation, which rented a Maryland gun range and held a shooting competition on a May day when the House was otherwise doing business. The group’s motto is “We give sportsmen a voice — and a seat at the table.” Tiahrt and another lawmaker suggested the event was not about lobbying, though. “The lobbying community can come by my office any time,” Tiahrt said.

The sweet life of politicans. No wonder they can’t give it up. Not one of them have honor their pledge of term limiting themselves.
If you’re in. You’re in for life.
“The lobbying community can come by my office any time.” Finally, Tiahrt admits publicly that his vote is for sale to the highest bidder – following the example of his good bud Tom Delay and bankroller Jack Abramoff. They all deserve each other. They don’t deserve our votes.
I just bet Todd welcomes Lobbyist, to come by at any time!
LOL, Kelly!
T Squared actually made an honest statement for once. Stop the presses!
Remember folks, once ol’ Tanker Todd gets bought, he stays bought. Just ask the Koch bros.
You can take THAT to the bank, just like TT has . . .
I wonder sometimes if any of you even stop and think before you just blindly attack someone.
I have worked with Tiahrt, my father knows him, I have friends on his staff.
The man is sincere and cares about people.
If any of you made even half an attempt to talk with him in a reasonable manner you would probalby see things differently.
Hey Nathan?
Can you ask Toadie Todd for me why it was that he ran on term limits and since then has never shown any sign of voluntarily leaving office?
Thanks.
You see JR,
That is probably why emails are ignored or he doesn’t talk with people like you.
When you address him as “Toadie Todd” why would he?
Learn how to be reasonable and professional and you might get better results in life.
I judge him by his fruits.
I tried all the “honorable representative” and “dear sir” crap Nathan. I got no answer to the question I just asked you. And I got no answer from you either.
Why did Todd Tiahrt run on term limits and not honor his own commitment?
It is not an honest or sincere question JR.
You merely present it and ask it because you think the question it’s self is an attack on Tiahrt.
By asking it you already show your ignorance on the subject matter.
Nathan, I disagree. Asking why Tiahrt hasn’t lived up to his term limit promise is a legitimate question. He made a promise and then reniged on it. Some would say that constitutes a lie. Now wouldn’t it be fair to surmise that if he’ll lie about one thing, he’ll lie about another? People who lie very seldom stop at just one lie.
I haven’t been particularly disrespectful to Tiahrt. In fact, I got pretty nasty with some Libs defending him in a previous thread.
I think I have every right to ask,”Why did Todd Tiahrt run on term limits and not honor his own commitment?”
Would you care to answer, justify, or will you just head off in some other direction?
Nathan,Tiahrt promised to vote in favor of Term Limits.Tiahrt kept his promise. As long as seniority counts for so much in Washington, Tiahrt is right to stay until Term Limits apply to everyone. Also, on the question of lobbyists, what in the world are you libs upset about? There is a lobbyist for and against every cause out there. The right of the people to petition their government for redress is pretty specific. Part of the job of lobbyists is to PRESENT that petition on behalf of those who chose to represent whatever side of an issue.Name a Democrat who refuses to meet with lobbyists of any stripe, at any time, and you have a point.Come on now, name a Democrat who will not even SPEAK with a lobbyist???
I would like to see every Congressman vote what their constituents believe no matter what the lobbyist say… (example, Brokeback voting against stem cell research when the straw polls show we support that research)
The way to do that is to have all major bills published via Internet, paper and TV news. Its up to the public to vote online or call in via a secure system and tell the congressman of where they are registered to vote how to vote.
If they dont vote that way, than it gives a very public way of kicking someone out of the office.
I also believe that this will help in solving issues such as abortion, death penalty, environment, taxes, school funding, etc… and engage the American public.
Ill bet the number of people who vote would double.
I dont give a flying leap what these idiots personally believe. They are there to represent us, not themselves or private interests or lobbyists.
Kick them out.
Finally!
Someone who actually knew. Thank you Paul.
XXX and JR,
If you actually look at the voting record it was the Democrats who blocked the vote on a constitutional amendment to enact term limits.
Todd voted for them as did a large majority of the Republicans.
He said he would vote for term limits and support them, I don’t think he promised or said that he would only enact them on himself.
It is a matter of judging Tiahrt by his OWN sentiments/convictions? Nathan and proll Paul.
Tiahrt fails that test.
Uh Nathan, Paul,Aren’t you forgetting that inconvenient pledge that Todd made along with 24 other republican representitaves to limit themselves to 12 years per Item 10 of the Contract with America?
I guess if you’re a republican, breaking a pledge doesn’t constitute lying.
Fing A XXX!!
Stay in the car Jr. I’ll take care of this, LOL!
What? No snappy comeback?
Nathan said:”I don’t think he promised or said that he would only enact them on himself.”
You “don’t think”.Maybe you ought to look it up. I did.
To help you out, here are the names of the Representatives who made this promise:
Charles Bass, NH-02Steve Chabot, OH-01Tom Davis, VA-11Mark Foley, FL-16Rodney Frelinghuysen, NJ-11Gil Gutknecht, MN-01Doc Hastings, WA-04J.D. Here are the senators elected that same year who made the same pledge:
Mike DeWine, OHJon Kyl, AZRick Santorum, PAOlympia Snowe, MECraig Thomas, WY
What a pack of liars.
The contract with america, was a contract on america.
ZZZZZZZ uh what? Sorry I dozed off waiting for something to happen.
XXX??
Can I get outta the car yet?
I’ll just shout out the window.
That was quite a skillet upside the head X! Bwooooongggg!
I think ya cold cocked Nathan and proll Paul!
Interesting list that. I see Santorum on it. I hear his constituents are gonna help him keep his pledge!
We’ll just have to rely on Tiahrts honor to term limit himself I guess. I’ll not hold my breath.
Good grief, dudes, We got some total f***ing morons posting here. Remember: they can be turned. Just don’t tell them Dale Ernhardt’s really dead, though. And if you do, tell them a ‘publikin did it.
Little Ricky Santorum is ugly and everybody hates him.
Hop out of the car, JR. I need some help cleaning up the BS.
Todd Tiahrt lost all respect with his little tirade in the eagle a couple weekends back.
Anybody who aligns themselves completely with the administration and the current GOP deserves to be out of a job. Face it folks these who hold power have turned our country upside down. Lets hope we can fix it before things get ugly.
The truth about Ricky: http://www.santorumexposed.com/
Situation report.
Subject Nathan asked question by J R eluded answer and began spinning Subject Nathan asked same question by subject XXX. At this time, Subject proll Paul Rosell arrived and began spinning and shouting incoherently. This incited subject Nathan to become loud and disorderly.
Subject XXX then produced a list written on a cast iron skillet. This list was the answer to the question that XXX and JR had asked. Subject XXX swung the skillet at subjects Nathan and proll Paul Rosell.
Analysis: Subject J Rs conclusion that subjects Nathan and proll Paul Rosell had been injured or incapacitated have been found to be in error. Nathan and Rosell have been reportedly causing disturbances in other neighborhoods.
Conclusion: Subjects Nathan and Paul Rosell clearly fled the scene rather than pursue the confrontation. One witness reported seeing Rosell spring over a hedge while “screaming like a little girl.”. It is reported but not confirmed that subjectNathan jumped into his spinning evadavator and disappeared.
End report filed by J R submission time and date noted below
JR, XXX, Everyone on the blog:
I am in the middle of pre deployment workups.
I have no reliable internet access.
When I can get on, I will post what I can.
Please don’t be such pompus butts by thinking my lack of posting actually means anything other than my inability to be here like I used to.
Sorry, I have things to do… like training to go to Iraq.
Oh, yeah, Nathan has things to do, but I was “pouting” on another thread.
Hey, Nathan, try watching a 4-year-old, a 3-year-old, and a 2-year old who climbs everything (including nearly 5 foot entertainment centers) and see just how much time you have.
I guess Nathan is the only one who has “things to do.”
Nathan has “things to do… like training to go to Iraq”. Funny how he has time to be all over the other threads.
Point, score, game over.
Nathan?
So you had time and the availability to post an EXCUSE (and it IS a good excuse) for not responding instead of responding? Oh ok I get it.
Ya lost this one Nathan. You don’t have to like it. But you do have to admit it?
RE Nathan’s claim that Tiahrt voted for term limits, but dems blocked the constitutional amendment bill, this makes no sense. Tiahrt was elected in 1994 the Contract with America campaign. EVER SINCE THEN, the Republicans have held the majority of house seats.
So it had to be Republicans who blocked the term limit bill.
As far as voting for the bill, Tiahrt could have just been staging a phony show, because he knew it was going to fail. A lot of dems in conservative districts voted to outlaw partial birth abortions, knowing that Clinton would veto the measure. These politicos aren’t above voting certain ways to manipulate their citizen-constituents.
I love the argument, “Well, I’m for term limits, but I’m not going to impose them on myself alone.” That’s totally bogus.
Because here is what the person is saying: “I believe that we need renewal in this house. It’s not good for America to have a bunch of Beltway fixtures who lose connection with their constituents: continual refreshment of this House with new people will benefit this nation.”
But that same person, if he says, “I’m not leaving unless all my colleagues do so,” really then means he doesn’t view his own “fixturehood” as a problem for the country. He’s been in the Beltway for 12 years, but he is still as fresh as he was when he first stepped into the chamber. What he really thinks is, he’s the best-suited man for the job, and will keep it as long as he can, or until a promotion, e.g. a Senate seat, or a 7-figure lobbying job, convinces him that somebody else can do a great job representing the 4th District.
A funny thing is, we forget our nation’s early history. Congressmen 200 years ago more often than not tended to limit themselves to one or two consecutive terms. Some of them did other stuff, then came back. Quincy Adams rejoined the House AFTER his presidency.
Looks to me like our young Marine got his butt kicked by an old Marine.
That’s about the size of it. Hey, good shot, X. You swing a skillet like no one else.
Hey at least Nathan posted an “excuse” for not admitting defeat instead of admitting defeat.
But where oh where is Paul Rosell? You know, the fair weather “friend” that led Nathan to his defeat?
Paul you are a real work! Get poor Nathan all encouraged to keep up a lost cause that HE started and YOU joined and then abandon him when your encouragement got him smacked down. Bad on you!
And so….silly partisan, pathetic, pummeled, distractions having been totally discredited, we return to the original question.
Why is a man who ran on term limits and signed a pledge to same running for yet another term? Why does Todd Tiahrt not adhere to his own principles pledged? Or, does he even have any anymore?
Evidently Kansas lefties really liked the Tiahart post.
See: ‘Thoughts from Kansas’ post.http://jgrr.blogspot.com/
Keep up the good fight here and maybe we’ll take #1 before mid-terms.
I wonder if toadie would welcome the lobby community from PFLAG, HRC, people who lobby for fairness for gender identity issues, for ANY gay group…
Bet not. Not unless they had their checkbooks out.
WWJD?
What would Jack (Abramhoff) do?
Why, jack would take their money of course.
Toadie. A true conservative who believes there is NOTHING that cant be bought and paid for.
Heheheh. Terry, Joe and Fred must be so proud of him….
Thread update:
Despite running on term limits and pledging himself to them, Todd Tiahrt is STILL running for his seventh count it seventh term!
Nathan posted an excuse and not an admit to defeat as to defending this. Whether he will use his or his dad Hanks access to Tiahrt…..as I asked him to do… to demand an explanation from Tiahrt is unclear.
And then there is proll Paul F Rosell. Hey I thought XXX put the scare into him so good upthread we’d not hear from him again. And we haven’t……..here.
But Paul F Rosell IS active on other threads.
SO….I call chickenshit on Paul F Rosell. Bad on ya guy. Leave poor Nathan spinning er….I mean twisting in the wind like ya did. Not cool.
Look, what is the “shelf life” of one of these topics? I have 5 kids, a grandchild and two businesses to run.
JR, I hate to break your heart, but answering you will never be a priority in my life.
I still say that Tiahrt supports a Constitutional Amendment to limit terms in Congress. That is what he promised.Look at the “Contract”Anyway, I probably won’t come back to this thread. This doesnt matter.Tiahrt will win.If this subject mattered, we would all remember the names of the people who are running for the Dem nomination. We don’t.LOL
See how it works readers?
Paul F Rosell ducked out of a fight he lost four days ago.Now did his family obligations get in his way of admitting he lost? Clearly not. His posts have been splattered on other threads since then.
No Paul just took longer to come back and post the same lame excuse his abandoned ally Nathan did. “I’m busy!” Now if Nathan is more inventive than Paul…….well. As I posted your entering this forum Paul, you’ve got a tough go here.
Paul? Your long lost last is basically reduced to “Well so what! Tiahrt is gonna win anyway!”
No defense of the lying Todd Tiahrt who you obviously support. No justification for him running and pledging to term limits from you.No Paul you just tell us he will win and you agree with his hypocrisy.
Paul F Rosell whatever you are getting paid to post here is not enough. You should get hypocritical/fool overtime.
JRMaybe I “lied” too?? I am back, and here is the Contract.Read it.Then try to find me a promise, anywhere, from Tiahrt, that says he would limit his term in office even if the Term Limits bill failed to pass!http://www.house.gov/house/Contract/CONTRACT.html
You are a bully JR, a blowhard on things that don’t matter.I suppose you get away with it because most people would rather not argue over pointless details with you.Either find a quote, from Tiahrt, that says he personally would limit his own terms, apart from the Contract provisions, or apologize to Tiahrt for your false charges.
Paul, producing a link to the Contract with America doesn’t prove your point. But at least, you told the truth in this one instance. The pledge isn’t in the contract itself.Go figure. Now prove you’re not the total idiot I think you are and do a simple google search. the pledge is out there along with the names of the republican liars that made the pledge, including Tiahrt.
