Conservative bomb thrower Ann Coulter, fresh from telling CNBC that she thought former President Bill Clinton displayed "some level of latent homosexuality," toldMSNBC last night that former Vice President Al Gore is a "total fag." Coulter later said that she was joking about Gore — ha, ha — but defended her theory about Clinton. "Everyone has always known, widely promiscuous heterosexual men have, as I say, a whiff of the bathhouse about them," she said. Actually, what everyone has always known is that when commentators have to make more and more outrageous claims, their careers are nearing an end. And in Coulter’s case, that end can’t come any too soon.

Oh well, she was fun while she lasted.
Or,Put a fork in Coulter, she’s done
She used to look cute on TV. But saw a couple of recent close-up photos published by reputable sources. She’s definitely looking haggish these days. Mean-spiritedness will do that to a person.
Oh, come on Phillip, you know you’re in love….
Coulter is an attention staved/seeking miscreant. She is little more than a whore willing to do just about anything just so long as she gets noticed.
Annie dear? That works for Madonna only because she has talent and a body, you’ve never had either!
Where is Randy these days, anyway? I hope it’s just his vacation, not a permanent exodus like Melissa, but even so, if he were really conscientious, he’d have a laptop wherever he is and post some blogs for his ever-faithful to respond to! ;-)
Vote here, if you agree with me.
oops, I see Randy is back. But he WAS GONE for a few days. Totally AWOL. ;-)
I think she’s a man.
I think she sleeps hanging under a bridge and would eat her young!
Ann Coulter is a wonderful representative of the extreme Right – and then she and they will complain whenever anyone else says something nasty in reply.
Didn’t the Eagle’s own representative of the Right complain yesterday about “liberals” being nasty? Maybe he should go and look into a mirror.
The media just needs to quit giving her a chance to speak. She’s desperate to stay relevant when she knows she no longer is. Quit having her on TV and she will disappear like she should.
I don’t know if she’d eat her young. But she might eat YOUR young. ;-)
From Mark Finklestein at Newsbusters- “Those poor MSMers. They can’t stand Ann Coulter. And they know that every time they vilify Ann, it only serves to drive her fame and sales of her latest book, Godless. But they just can’t ‘hep’ themselves. They can’t resist precisely the kind of mean-spirited barbs that make Ann’s case and boost her bottom line.”
http://newsbusters.org/node/6628
Ann Coulter is only interested in one thing – promoting herself. The best way to do that is to say something outrageous about Bill Clinton, even when she knows it is not true.
Always thought that Ann could use some steak and taters to help fill out her bottom line.
What just because she is the only woman that Bill Clinton turn down a B.J. from…That means he is gay! Ann take heart, in those cold, lonely nights you still have your dog…Oh he ran away from you too!
Heartlander– You’re right- I can’t imagine how she’d get her own young anyway!
And her dog.
Touche’Did I use that right?
Ah Phillip,
Career coming to an end? What wishful thinking! The reason that she’s on MSNBC with Chris Matthews is that when she’s on TV programs ratings go up.
I seriously doubt that her career has even peeked yet! She’s on a roll! The nuttier the liberals get the more successful she will be. And the liberals are still getting nuttier!
Hank
Somebody put a cork in Hank while you’re at it.
Let’s do lunch Col. M! I’ll give you the chance!
You got it, smart ass smart mouth.
I want to meet you at the corner of Central and Rock TODAY at 6:00 pm.
I’m bringing a fucking tire iron.
What you got, except for your big fucking mouth, you coward?
Okay . . . I didn’t mean any of that.
It was an object lesson in how “threatening” to meet people really doesn’t advance the argument and people should just shut up about it.
Hank, don’t feed the trolls. If this guy wants to post anonymously then it’s nothing more than GRAFFITI.Don’t waste your time on trolls that want to post anonymously. If he really wanted to fight he’d tell you who he is.
Phillip, how’s the blog traffic count these days? Down I suspect. Wonder why? Hmmmm….
I DON’T want to fight, Tracy.
That’s the whole point.
ID–
A lot of people have been run off by comments like Hank’s.
There always wanting to get to know you so they can “meet” you.
Screw that . . .
More graffiti.Sorry, I don’t know who’s posting.No reply.
peeked? You mean peaked? Although peeked has some interesting undertones
Hank is right – the hatemongers just love her.
Lunch is so threatening, tire iron?
Somebody tell the troll what I bring to a fight! I don’t want to threaten him!
Hank
Ben, there’s no patent on hatred.Sooner or later someone even more full of shit and venom will come along and replace her.Any takers?
Hank, Hank, Hank.I’m sooo dissapointed. You’re talking to graffiti again. There’s no bears in there, it’s just a phony email address, and you can’t even have lunch with that.
Let’s turn the perspective around for a minute. Why are religious conservatives (ie Ann Coulter) so obsessed about Bill Clinton? Perhaps it is because they know if he was to run for any office – he would still beat them in a landslide?
Oh, sure Hank, you say that while you hide behind your keyboard, but you wouldn’t have the guts to say it to my face.
*****
See how easy it is to talk tough and not have any worry that you’ll have to back it up.
It’s kinda pitful these old geezers that still have to act sooo tough . . .
Hi hank – as I recall “meeting for lunch” meant burgers and pop!
My doctor might not approve but …
Colonel, I know Hank. Now I’m a big guy, But I’d have to have a hell of a good reason to take on that “old Geezer”.I don’t think you want to go up against a .45 with a tire iron.
Just my $0.02.
Hey Ben,
We can do healthy! I prefer something dead and fried in hog lard, but I can do healthy.
If I can only get past the tire iron!
Hank
Hey XXX,
I’m getting new glasses. Hopefully I’ll be able to do more with my .45 than wave it around and cuss at people!
Hank
Uhhh, colonel moron? What Hank would bring to lunch, you don’t even want to know about. Besides, he would have most of the bloggers here backing him up. What do you have, a dead website and a bunch of ridiculous pseudonyms? Ain’t man enough to post your real name and you’re calling Hank a coward? Sounds to me your one of those moronic liberals that give Coulter fodder to write about.
The reason Coulter brings up the numbers on whatever ‘ho-down she shows up on is because real liberals, who have no problem with their beliefs, watch to laugh at her stupidity. It’s fun to watch a neutered clone reject talk trash.
Colonel moron,By the way, I will be there also. You really don’t want to know what I’d bring. Of course, knowing Hank, he wouldn’t need me, but better safe than sorry:-)
How ’bout it, boy?
The fact that all you little pricks need to carry around big guns is in itself proof of your cowardice.
Pathetic.
Note to self–quit wanking around with the wankers . . .
well boys (Hank and Walker) do we need to break out the big guns and bring fake cru-x? There’s a reason he posts under MM…….nah, mouseturd didn’t even give a corner of Central and Rock to meet at (Dillons, Starbucks, Gas station…)
Maybe someone should tell him the .45 is the pocket gun, not one of the “big guns”!
Hank
Politics aside, Hank makes good burgers. Leave the tire iron at home.
Boy howdy, he sure knows which buttons to push, don’t he, Hank?
Leave the .45 AND the big gun at home.
Here’s a thought: everybody take their shot, and let it die. Trolls die when they’re not fed.
Shaking my head…
Ann would be proud of everybody’s performance here.
Funny thought. I hope nobody has a flat tire at Central and Rock today around 6:00. Pull a tireiron out… smoking hole where they were standing, lol!
Musty, we know who Hank is.
Could you wear something pink and frilly so we know who you are?
Men fighting over me? The last time that happened was..uh……well you can’t prove it hasn’t happened! Go ahead I DARE you! Do a Lexis Nexis! NOWHERE will you find proof that men don’t fight over Ann Coulter!
Oh come on, DD. We’re just having a little Friday afternoon fun. You can tell it’s all in fun cause there’s no blood dripping on the posts.
Hank,
“The nuttier the liberals get the more successful she will be.”
Actually, her success requires gullible “conservatives”, who believe her lies. Her books are filled with inaccuracies, to justify her invalid opinions.
Enjoying her “work” requires a closed mind, and not recognizing (or ignoring) the lies.
Thanks, cosmos.
And while we are talking about tire irons, there is no truth in the liberal claims that I use one to put on my shoes. I don’t have big feet! That picture they took of me was photo shopped!
Coulter is jumping the Shark! Game over.
Cosmos I am a respected political analyst. I am credible because I use lots of footnotes.*
*Ann Coulter uses lots of foot notes
LOL!
Hi Ann… Nexis says your footnotes are BOGUS!
‘Coulter dissembles right to the end.’http://www.dailyhowler.com/dh072302.shtml
I have NOT jumped the shark! I just did a lexisnexis! There is NOTHING there that proves that I have jumped the shark! *
*Ann Coulter has jumped lots of things but never a shark. Source Ann Coulter
I just did a lexisnexis. I cannot find any proof that you Cosmos are not in fact a space alien! I also can’t find any proof that you don’t eat kittens and burn the American flag.*
So this begs the question why is Cosmos the spaceman roasting kittens over a pyre of burning American flags?
*lexisnexis “Is cosmos a space alien who roasts kittens over a pyre of burning American flags” 0 results
1. jump the sharka term to describe a moment when something that was once great has reached a point where it will now decline in quality and popularity.
Origin of this phrase comes from a Happy Days episode where the Fonz jumped a shark on waterskis. Thus was labeled the lowest point of the show.********************************************************************When was Ann ever great? I think this from the urban dictionary is what people have in mind:********************************************************************jump the couch -A defining moment when you know someone has gone off the deep end. Inspired by Tom Cruise’s recent behavior on Oprah. Also see jump the shark.********************************************************************
Stop that! I’m relevant!! I’m an important farce in American politics!! You better pay attention to me! If you don’t, I’m going to be very naughty!!
Ann Coulter relies on the insecurities of the conservatives that read her tripe to maintain her popularity. Coulter fans crave the constant reinforcement of their beliefs that she and other conservatives talking heads trot out on a regular basis. Nothing will motivate a conservative quite like a TV personality that in an amazing coincidence agrees with them on every single issue.
This is a serious question:
I have always felt that something is not quite right with her appearance, with the adam’s apple and masculine facial features. Is Ann Coulter a transexual or transvestite?
Scott you have no footnotes. OBVIOUSLY you’re not credible!*
I AM credible because my books have lots of footnotes. I like foot notes. But the liberal media won’t tell you that Ann Coulter can write with her feet! I can also eat, brush my teeth and play heart and soul on the piano with them. Oh but no the liberal media could never let it be suggested that Ann Coulter has talent!
*you are obviously not credible. Ann Coulter
WAH! I JUST WANT TO BE LOVED! OR AT LEAST TO BE ‘FED’!
I don’t find skinny beeyatches like Coulter appealing. Let her mouth off all she wants, she can blow it out her ass.
I know us sharks aint cuddly or loveable. And sometimes we aint to selective in what we eat. But please humans, some humanity.
No shark wants to be jumped by Ann Coulter! Please stop suggesting that she jump us!
Ha ha. As long as Coulter inspires reactions like the one contained in this thread, she is a long way from done.
I had the pleasure of meeting Ann a few years ago and I was impressed. I found her to be witty, sharp, charming adn while not my type she was not unattractive. I also came to find out that she has(had) a great deal of contempt for the traitor shrub in the Whitehouse. That said, she has been acting “weird” as of late.
viva La Raza Blanco!!!
Ah! If it isn’t my old friend, Mr. Superior-By-Virtue-of-Skin-Color! And how are we today Ian?
It appears my old friend is avoiding me. How dare I converse with the superior ones! What right have I to parley with the gods? Hahahahaha! Very well, enough for one night. I shall retire.
CruWill,
U b trippin’ dawg. Yo I jus b tryin 2 keep it reel. I takes care of my kids! :)
Seriously, I don’t believe in assigned the superior and inferior designations to the races. We are all God’s creatures but the races are different! I feel that all the races should live prosperouly and happilly in their own homogenous nations. There should be good relations and fair trade amongst all of God’s creatures.
V.L.R.B!!
I feel that all the races should live prosperouly and happilly in their own homogenous nations. There should be good relations and fair trade amongst all of God’s creatures.
I bet you’re pretty pissed at the Spanish, French, Dutch, Portuguese, and the English for coming to the New World and taking native indigenous women as their concubines, lovers, and wives in some cases then huh? It’s ok, at least you feed your kids and don’t beat and starve them. =)More power to ya! I gotta get some sleep.
Sounds like Ann is just envious of Monica. I bet she’s really a nymphomaniac.
In all seriousness, my bad, I apologize to any sharks that may have taken offense to being linked to the super predator Ann. While Ann might jump a fence post, I doubt she would jump sharks quite as readily.
Something we all might want to consider:www.petitiononline.com/asfmac/petition.html
“I prefer something dead and fried in hog lard…”
My arteries clogged just reading this.
Of course annie is jealous of Monica. Monica can get the president to do her in the Oval Office while even annie’s batteries died just to avoid a not so pleasant situation.
Come on people…look at that “adams apple” its a man in “drag” for christ sakes!
Ewwww I don’t wanna look at Ann Coulters neck. Or her face! Or her legs! Or…….shudder…….her feet!
Maybe I can find a pirate friend to help me look for her chest! It’s buried, but probably not a treasure!
“Somebody put a cork in Ann Coulter”
They did?
I hope they didn’t put it in her mouth or her ass! She’ll explode! Maybe she should position herself in front of the New York Times and be a ranticide bomber.
Ummm …….did they put that cork…….um……uh……somewhere ……uh.. else?
I hope they greased it real good!
Annies ears are pretty tight and closed!
What? you thought I meant um……somewhere else?
Don’t go there! No one else does.
Cornhole Mustard..I meet your white ass at 13th and Hillside ands ya beetr bring more than a fuckin tire iron cracker.
Uh oh….”Ghetto Thug” has found his way onto the internet.
JD, you stay in the car.I’ll handle this.
I do not particularly approve of everything Coulter says, but I am not her dad or her mom and she is free to speak as she sees fit. However, before you jump to the defense of Al Gore, how many of you liberals cringed when Gore talked about us “extra Chromosome” types? In a sentence, Al Gore called all conservatives mentally retarded and made light of all families who have dealt with mentally retarded children.Face it, all pundits and all politicians make unfortunate comments.Liberals ignore the outrageous remarks of liberals but point to the excess of conservatives as a reason to silence them.
The Wichita Eagle editorial pages and this blog just gave publicity to the Daily Kos blog. That blog has said far more outrageous things than Coulter.Phil, you look extremely hypocritical on this one!
Paul, as usual, MISQUOTES Gore, and cherry-picks. He uses Coulter’s tactics.
“, Al Gore called all conservatives mentally retarded…”
Gore’s 1994 remark was directed at “the extreme right wing”, Oliver North’s supporters.
Paul, in 1987 GHW Bush also made the “the extra-chromosome set” comment.
Why didn’t GW Bush mention that in 2000, when he attacked Gore’s 6-years old, made only once remark? http://www.dailyhowler.com/h051401_1.shtml
Bwoooooooonnnngggggg…..
Thud.
The sounds you just heard were the mighty cast iron skillet of truth hitting Paul upside the head followed by Paul falling flat on his ass!
GOOD LINK cosmos! That one is long but bears reading folks. VERY educational!
Perhaps this is why Paul does not like links.—–
JRAs usual, your comments are juvinile and make you look very stupid.By the way, JR, if Dems want to be the “peace party” don’t you think your references to violent attacks with cooking hardware put you a little out of step with the “peace at any price” party??cosmos:Do you mean to say that now any Democrat can call any Republican “Gay” or Homosexual, —and since Ann Coulter did it first it is OK?This is what I mean when I point out liberal hypocrisy.I won’t justify everything Ann Coulter says. I still enjoy her and think that she makes very valid points in a way no one else seems to copy. Again, she does make me cringe at times. However, I have never tried to silence those on the left who say worse things than Coulter. The left DOES want to silence Coulter. What you libs are saying is that Coulter cant call anyone GAY because that is out of line (and a Dem didnt do it first.)However, Gore CAN use the mentally retarded Chromosome attack because a Republican DID use it first?I swear, you liberals belong on a playground during kindergarten recess, you are a joke.Of course, JR would be in juvi hall, since he does not play well with others.
J u v e n i l e
You failed wanna be journalist you!
Humor also seems to elude you. This is true with most conservatives. They either have no humor or a rather sick sense of it. You know, like making fun of widows of the 911 attack as Coulter did?
You will be the victim of my humor often Paul. When I or another poster takes you down a peg, as cosmos did, I shall announce it loudly! So far you are the only one of three or four people who call me stupid. I don’t let their opinion of me get in my way. You shall be no different!Funny thing Paul. I’m smiling and even chuckling occassionally while I whittle away at you. YOUR last suggests the sound of loudly banged keys and muttered curses!
Gotta borrow from a friend here….
MOOMMMMMMM! J R is being mean to me!….wahhhhhhhhhh…JR is bullying me about my favorite bully wahhhhhhhh.
JRYou never make any rational point in here at all.You simply make references to cooking hardware used as a weapon, unusual for a peace nic.I wonder if those who live with you run when you open a kitchen cabinet? It isnt funny. If it ever was funny, you have overused it.And again, my spelling sucks, and I will never worry too much about that point. That you like to focus on your enemies’ spelling is humorous, since the worst spellers and writers in here are usually on the left and you say nothing. Those that are with you are perfect, those who are against you are fair game.I would also say that I smile when you get JUVENILE since I know, at that point, that I have won (again)!
Sigh…….
You’re right Paul. YOU “win”. WHAT you’ve “won” here I am not quite sure. But if it lowers your blood pressure I’d call it a healthy delusion. Run with it!
Paul I have disagreed with virtually every poster on this forum at one time or another. Ya know why that is? It ’cause I and they are not two dimensional cookie cutter minds like you Paul. You are Johnny one note. That note is off key. I’m not sure the instrument that plays it is still made! Probably something like one of those old bike squeeze horns.
That “note” is so consistently wrong that it does have value here. You are the example, the poster child if you will for so much wrong.
So you will make your little noise here Paul. And most of us will laugh at you.
Paul, JR is right. You and the rest of the Rush butt-sniffers are just too full of yourselves to have anything that approaches a sense of humor. God, I’d hate to live like you guys, hiding under the bed in fear and peeing all over yourselves every time somebody says “terrorist”.You think JR is threatening people with cookware?
Sheesh, what a tired little “maroon”.
cosmos borrowed your skillet X. He put it to good use I say!
Paul? DO get over yourself.
For the record Paul?
I have met personally with posters I couldn’t agree with on whether night is dark and day is light. Cookware was present on those occasions. Fire too. Nobody seemed to feel threatened!
JR, your skillet is funny, reminds me of the coyote and Road Runner. Beep beep!!
Paul… so you believe that “all conservatives” are in “the extreme right wing” and supported Oliver North? Nancy Reagan supported North?
Paul: “However, Gore CAN use the mentally retarded Chromosome attack because a Republican DID use it first?”
WHAT!? I point out a hypocrisy, and you think I’m arguing justification?
Gore (and GHW Bush) made that remark only once, and quickly apologized for it. People do sometimes “make unfortunate comments”. Apologies are made, accepted, and life goes on.
But Coulter doesn’t apologize for her insults, AND keeps repeating them.
As http://www.dailyhowler.com/h051401_1.shtml points out, GHW Bush’s remark was almost ignored, and then forgotten. Other R’s also made the chromosome remark.
Today, 12 years after Gore apologized, you’re STILL attacking only him, and EXAGGERATING it to “all conservatives”. That’s unfair, hypocritical, and dishonest.
I do NOT want to silence Coulter… she’s actually very useful. I just want citizens to realize that she (like you, and some of MSM) uses misquotes and falsehoods to push her agenda.
How many people voted for Oliver North? Were all of those people mentally retarded? Is it nice or polite to call anyone retarded?Would you knowingly use such a phrase in the presence of someone who had a retarded child?Look folks, I am not trying to police anyone’s language here.I am just pointing out that Gore says outrageous things too. I opened my comments here by pointing out that ALL pundants and ALL politicians are known to have said a few outrageous things. It happens.Ann Coulter makes a positive contribution to the politcal dialogue. I wish she would avoid offending people for the sheer joy of it and just stick to the point at hand. I wish we could debate Coulters political points and not her delivery style. I admit she has herself to blame for that.I admit that I find Mona Charen and a number of other conservative women to be a bit more polite. The Eagle wants Coulters career to end.Funny, I dont recall any conservative making that wish of any liberal commentator.
Why dosen’t the eagle carry her column, it should fit the market here.
Know what I’ve figured out about you Paul?
You have a compulsive need to have the last word.
You will never ever get it here. I make that my personal promise to the blog and to you.
“I am just pointing out that Al Gore says outrageous things too”
Yes you did that Paul. You cited a remark Gore made one time 12 years ago and almost immediately apologized for. How that pertains to a thread about Ann Coulter you did not explain.
“Ann Coulter makes a positive contribution to the political dialogue.”
Here, I AGREE with you Paul. Ann Coulter has many readers. She exposes the public to how her readers …….for lack of a better word “think” In that, she provides a service. It is good to better know ones enemies. And yes, I would call anyone who embraces Ann Coulter or any of her views an enemy.
“The Eagle wants Coutlers career to end.”
No Paul, the header suggests that Ann Coulters outrageousness is suggestive of her knowledge that her career is ending. Upthread, I cited the “Madonna” syndrome. I also mentioned that Coulter did not have the body or talent of Madonna.
I am going to make you a prediction Paul. I will predict for you that Coulter will become more and more outrageous. She is a case study in megalomania. Best thing for her future is if liberals take back the government. That will afford her a continued audience of the angry, minority, nut conservative base. Failing that? Ann will switch sides! See? she has to be where the attention is. That or she might off herself.
You file that prediction away and remember I made it.
JR, very good points.
Paul, you seem unable to make a post without MISQUOTING.
Gore’s remark was NOT aimed at all of the people who “voted” for North. It was ONLY at those in the “extreme right wing” — including those INELIGIBLE to vote for North — who would donate advertising money to his campaign.
Why do you continue to attack ONLY Gore, and ignore all the R’s who also made the chromosome remark?
I agree with JR that it’s good to “better know ones enemies” That said, spreading misquotes and falsehoods is NOT making a “positive contribution to the politcal dialogue”.
People who cannot support their opinions with facts and reality are forced to use those despicable tactics.
Go ahead Paul, add your “last word”. JR and I will enjoy ripping it apart.
Well said cosmos and thanks!
You said,” People who cannot support their opinions with facts and reality are forced to use those despicable tactics”
Cosmos? You got to this forum about the same time as Paul. If you haven’t seen it, I should let you know that Paul has decried the use of links to justify his positions. What few he HAS used could be easily be called “tin hat”.
Paul? Please DO try to get the last word here! I came back just to look for it! I find you an amusing toy. Do afford me, cosmos and endless others the enjoyment of your so silly posts.
Paul, this link will explain it all for you.http://joebrower.com/PHILE_PILE/PIX/FR/screw_ball.jpg
Cosmos and JRAgain, you miss the point. Gore DID say it, if what Gore said was not the wrong thing to say, why on Earth did Gore apolgized for it?Also, you liberals have been wrong about Limbaugh and many other conservatives.Coulter is on the edge. I admit it, but she will be around for a long time. She is not another Huffington or another, well, whats his name? the guy who wrote, “The Real Anita Hill” book?Coulter believes in what she says, and little of what she has said has been disproven.Less, I would say, than ohh, Dan Rather?
Paul… I got the point — you’ve ignored the points I made in my 6:14 PM post yesterday. Like you posted earlier, people do sometimes “make unfortunate comments”.
Paul: “Coulter believes in what she says, and little of what she has said has been disproven.”
How do you know what she “believes”? Are you Coulter?
A large amount of what she says has been shown to be FALSE. Read http://www.anncoulter.blogspot.com/
Lets see your link(s) proving the Columbia Journalism Review, etc are all wrong.
Hahahaha! ROTLMAO!
Paul,I’m sure you can look over 40+ years and find places where Dan Rather screwed up royally. Yes, I’m aware about the whole Bush/Guard fiasco, which is the only reason you have the presence of mind to attack Rather in the first place.
But, you see, unlike Coulter, what Rather does is called “journalism.”
You may have heard of it.
I’ve been doing a little research about Coulter myself.
It is interesting to find out that THE NATIONAL REVIEW ONLINE chose to not feature Coulter as a contributor.
That bastion of the right wing apparently found Ann unfit to “print”!
Wish I could post a link.
They used words like “rant” and “incoherent” to describe her writing! I’d be curious to see that piece! Ann then preceeded to trash National Review Online in any venue that WOULD feature her.
No Paul Ann is melting down. After what I have read I am more certain that she will only continue to grandstand. Probably she will try to switch sides. But she should know in advance “we” don’t want her. She done burned that bridge.
Ann Coulter is a deeply disturbed person. She willmost likely end up in a mental health facility or dead at her own hand.
And what does THIS tell us about her fans?XXX had it right…..screwball.
JR, thanks for the point. NRO dumped Coulter long ago, way back in October 2001.http://www.nationalreview.com/nr_comment/nr_comment100301.shtml
cosmos says I cant possibly know if Coulter believes in what she says, butJR says that he knows Coulter well enough to declare her a “deeply disturbed individual”lol
Excellent link, cosmos. Spells out just what a tripe she is. I remember when she was going to give her take on the democratic national convention. I believe it was Fox who canned her before her first show, as her piece was too stupid to put on the air.
Thank YOU cosmos. That is just what I read.
Ya know my favorite Coulter story? USA Today ALSO fired the mentally unstable Coulter. They had hired her to be their corespondent at the Democratic National convention. Her first report was filled with her usual frothy mouthed vitriol. USA Today did not print it and ended the arrangement. But that’s not the good part.
Not long after, Ann was telling the tale and bashing USA Today …..again to anyone who would give her a forum. One of her first stops was Bill O’reilly’s Factor radio show.
Coulter broke down crying! “It’s not fair!…..sob……sniffle “They know who Ann Coulter is!” sobsniffle ….”I don’t understand why I’m being treated this way! snufflesnortsob….”I can’t talk about this….sniffle”
I would kill or die (speaking only rhetorically) for a transcript or audio of that! Maybe somebody can find it. It was good listening!
JR, I haven’t come up with your transcript or video yet. Seems that, unlike NPR, The O’Reilly Factor doesn’t have archives. ;)
But I’ll keep hunting…
Oh, and here’s an encapsulated view of Ann’s career:
Coulter first came to national prominence as a legal correspondent and pundit for MSNBC, which fired her for insulting a Vietnam veteran. The conservative National Review dropped her column after she responded to the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, by stating that America should “invade their [terrorists'] countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity.” In an interview with The New York Observer, Coulter stated that “[m]y only regret with [Oklahoma City bomber] Timothy McVeigh is he did not go to the New York Times building.” USA Today also removed Coulter as a columnist covering the 2004 Democratic National Convention after she referred to the gathering as the “Spawn of Satan convention.”
Oh, gee, I’d have to become a premium member to get all the O’Reilly archives.
Thanks, Bill, but I’ll pass.
JR,
I’ve followed Ann for quite some time now. She’s actually getting a lot better in her appearances on TV.
USA Today either fired her, or she quit, she refused to rewrite her piece on the Democratic National Convention. She did publish it as one of her regular columns I believe.
I saw the interview in question on O’Reilly. He doesn’t much care for her style. I too thought she was a little strident in that interview, I don’t remember her ‘crying’.
Her assignment for USA Today was an opportunty lost. She is very smart and I think that she could have contributed much with her conservative viewpoint. (They hired a someone for the liberal view, but I don’t remember who it was.)
The point I’m making is that she’s actually getting a lot better with her TV interviews. She’s in demand and she will be around for quite a while.
Hank
RD I knew if someone would try to find that for me it would likely be you. Thank you for trying. Don’t you dare pay Bill O a penny. Eventually me or someone will find it out there.
Hank I DID say it was the RADIO version of O’Reillys show was the place where mighty Annie melted down. I must have been the only person who heard it. Says something about Bills audience!
I’ve read the piece she submitted for her short lived USA Today career. They were right to fire her. It was a mindless foamy rant. Is there anyone who HASN’T fired Ann Coulter?
No Hank I don’t think Coulter will be with us a lot longer. Not in a relevant way anyway. As I have posted several times now, she thrives on negative attention and hatred. It is getting difficult for her to top herself. And while trying to do so she more and more marginalizes herself from any credible forum. As the light on her gets less, she will run out of ways to shock.
A personality like Coulters cannot survive being ignored. So I predict again, she’ll likely eventually switch sides. That or she will develop a serious bad habit, have a total breakdown, or end her life. I suspect also that we will learn of some serious trauma in her youth along the way. The woman epitomzes seething conservative hate. There has to be a reason for that.
But she will get no pity from me.
Hank,
You seem to support Coulter. Read her “Spawn of Satan convention” column. Do you understand the slur? Do you agree with her points? Are they typical “conservative” viewpoints?
At least one newspaper dropped her column because of complaints from conservative readers.
If she’s “very smart” as you claim, why do her books have so many errors? She seems to invent “facts” to support her invalid opinions.http://www.anncoulter.blogspot.com/
A (growing) list of 142 reports,http://mediamatters.org/issues_topics/people/anncoulter
JRDo any of you libs believe there is such a thing as “Seething liberal hate” — just wondering.
Paul can you name for me a liberal that even APPROACHES Ann Coulter for sheer outrageousness, distortions of the truth and wide eyed hysteria?
cosmos,
Yes, I agree with most of the points in her ‘Spawn of Satan convention’ column. I think she could be less ascerbic in making them, but all in all her points are valid.
As far as her books go, there aren’t that many errors. The liberals do find a few, thanks to her copius footnotes. Then when they do find an instance where her facts are wrong it very seldom refutes the main point whe was making. Out of 780 footnotes in “Slander” finding a few errors is not that unusual.
Hank
JR,
“Paul can you name for me a liberal that even APPROACHES Ann Coulter for sheer outrageousness, distortions of the truth and wide eyed hysteria?”
Let me answer!
HOWARD DEAN!
Funny, I don’t ever remember Howard Dean spewing the sort of hatred and distortions that Ann Coulter does. Care to share an example, Hank? Comparing him to her is a little “out there” I think.
I second Mary’s request.
Interesting Hank
Can you cite for me Howard Dean calling for…..oh say the Wall Street Journal to be bombed? You know, like Coulter wished on the Times?
Perhaps you are privy to a quote from Dean on the level of “we should invade their countries and convert them to Christianity”?
Maybe you’d like to share an instance of Dean filling an entire book or several books with lies, half truths, and spun definitions?
I like Howard Dean! He calls Republicans what they are!
JRThe New York Times might well be responsible for the next terrorist attack.Coulter is harsh and often brash. So far, Coulter hasnt killed anyone, or even risked anyone’s life.We cant say that about the New York Times can we?
Damn NYT has now reported how the Pentagon covered up overcharges, (Reminds me of Cheney’s running Haliburton). Seems the pentagon hid the overruns as overhead. Can you imagine reporting on the pentagons fraudulent activities durin a time of war!
Folks don’t buy the scare tactics stuff anymore Paul.
And that last of your was nearly irrational enough to rise to “Ann” status. Little wonder she is a hero of yours.
The New York Times alerted us to how the bush administration is exercising rather frightening executive power collecting information. They did their duty as journalists. I know that such as you Paul would like to censor them and even perhaps open a bush propaganda administration. But MOST people know that the greatest threat to a people is to be unaware of what their government is doing.
Paul,
“So far, Coulter hasnt killed anyone, or even risked anyone’s life.”
But she HAS used terms like, “the terrorists should have bombed the NYT,” and other nonsense. There ARE kooks out there who are willing to take her at her word and do said deeds. Then what? She gets off with her usual fippant self-serving remarks?
She’s a joke to any thinking person, but she is also a dangerous joke when and if some moron takes her at her word.
I’m all for freedom of speech, but her type speech belongs in the national inquirer along with alien babies and three-headed sheep.
Hank,
“Yes, I agree with most of the points in her ‘Spawn of Satan convention’ column… but all in all her points are valid.”
So you believe all Dems are the “Spawn of Satan”, wear “shirts emblazened with the “F-word”", and “are constantly suing and slandering police as violent, fascist racists”? Dennis Kucinich can’t run a 7-11 store?
Excuse me for backing away from my computer when I see your posts.
Hank:” Then when they do find an instance where her facts are wrong it very seldom refutes the main point whe was making.”
Coulter attacking the NY Times re DeLay isn’t refuted by the truth? Her attack on Katie Couric isn’t “refuted” by the truth?http://www.dailyhowler.com/dh071102.shtml
Hank: “Out of 780 footnotes in “Slander” finding a few errors is not that unusual.”
How many lies and half-truths do you TOLERATE?The publisher made 5 corrections in 2nd printing, plus a “sample” of 40 showed many more. That’s only a “few”? http://cjr.org/issues/2002/6/slander-scherer.asp
“So you believe all Dems are the “Spawn of Satan”, wear “shirts emblazened with the “F-word”", and “are constantly suing and slandering police as violent, fascist racists”? Dennis Kucinich can’t run a 7-11 store?”
That’s pretty much my opinion of the dems!
Hank
cosmos,
From your link:
“Her publisher, Crown, has corrected five errors for the book’s second printing: three minor misidentifications of public figures, an incorrect citation of The New York Times’s coverage of the race car driver Dale Earnhardt’s death, and an erroneous claim about press coverage of an Al Gore gaffe.”
This pretty much proves my point!
Hank
Ann is far more believable than the MSP. The stupidity of the liberals provides enough book material for Ann. And unlike Dan Rather she doesn’t need to make up stories. Sure, she’s over the top but no more so than Noam Chomsky.
And LRB chimes in!
Wow Paul, Hank, and LRB
Squirrels will descend on this thread to devour the nuts! They are only gonna get what I leave.
Earlier and on another thread Cosmos, it was my “priviledge” to introduce you better to Hank. I see you are learning ever more about him here.
Let me enlighten you further. Hank has in the past posted that he opposes the 19th Amendment giving women the right to vote. He is also disappointed that we are not prosecuting a war of aggression to seize and hold the entire middle east to take their oil because we need it. If you monitor other threads you will find that Hank is also a literal creationist and thinks the Earth is only 6,000 years old.
In short cosmos, Hank much like his hero Ann Coulter is something of a nut.
When did Dan Rather rather “make up stories,” LRB? I want a source.
The problem with criticizing Coulter is that so much of what she says CAN’T be taken seriously, because it’s so patently ridiculous, and yet her supporters take it as gospel.
Attack it as non-factual, and reasonable people point out that other reasonable people won’t take it seriously–which is kinda beside the point. Case in point: are liberals “traitors”? One has to believe that as an article of faith, because it’s so beyond reason.
JRIf the New York Times had published the workings of the Manhattan Project, would you have defended it as “Freedom of Speech”??Where do you draw the line?Do you think that publication makes Treason ok?How far would the Times have to go before you would agree that the Times was Treasonous?
Rage,The National Guard story was a made up story. Dan Rather is a joke.
You must post a better or even an appraoching relevant analogy Paul. I don’t think you can. You like your hero Ann Coulter are a nut.
Perhaps you would like to outline better george bush’s evasion of service in the Vietnam war Paul. He sure did not.
But operatives for him like you spent your efforts trashing a REAL war veteran like John Kerry. Tell us Paul, did you like Hank actually contribute to the swift boat lie? Show us how low you have crept in your servile support for the worst president in history!
“When did Dan Rather rather “make up stories,” LRB? I want a source.”
Dan Rather …
He made up that liberal hate story about Bush and his National Guard diservice. He was caught doing it and was fired. Not fired for making up news stories, mind you, but for getting caught.
“If the New York Times had published the workings of the Manhattan Project, would you have defended it as “Freedom of Speech”??”
If the current NYT pointyheads were around in 1944 not only would they have printed the invasion plans at Normandy, they would have sat in the German pillboxes documenting the atrocities the US servicemen were doing to the native Norman plantlife with their equipment.
My last post is directed to you as well LRB.
And I am just a little tired of you not admitting that you are nothing more than a bush shill like Paul.
Show me bush’s service! bush didn’t.
“And I am just a little tired of you not admitting that you are nothing more than a bush shill like Paul.”
I never voted for Bush. I didn’t vote for the democrap candidates either.
The only shill here is you.
LRB?
If you are not a shill then why so slavishly defend bush as you did above?
Maybe you are just a “shrill” you know, like when you posted that the editors of the New York Times should be arrested, tried, and shot.
I can do a bonedig if you care to deny that.
Paul, LRB, thanks for taking the bait.
I never claimed that Rather didn’t screw up, wasn’t sloppy, or even that he didn’t violate the hallowed “two source” rule. He did both. One might even claim that he was politically motivated.
But Rather did not make it up, and serious questions remain about the whole circumstances surrounding it. It seems you have selective memories.
“Marian Carr Knox told the Dallas Morning News after viewing copies of the disputed memos, ‘These are not real,’ and that ‘the information in here was correct, but it was picked up from the real ones.’ ”
Made-up story? Uh-huh. Right.
Link:http://www.usatoday.com/news/politicselections/nation/president/2004-09-14-memos-forgeries_x.htm
Paul ran off from ya LRB.
He does that.
You are pretty good at running off yourself! You know, like yesterday when you abandoned the “a little fake peace would be good for now” thread? That after calling out for American soldiers to return home and overthrow the government and calling anyone who disagreed with your view a traitor?
I’m thinking you are a nut LRB. I’m thinking you will run away from here too.
Hank,
Do you have links to video (or pics) of that Democratic Convention? I want to check your “opinion” that all the Dem’s there are wearing “shirts emblazened(sic) with the “F-word”".
Congratulations on your Coulter tactic of “cherry-picking” only what her publisher said. They obviously were 100% unbiased and unconcerned about how much $ her book would make — unlike the CJR, and other sources.
Hank runs away from facts cosmos. He prefers the confines of his own small delusional reality.
This he shares apparently with Ann Coulter, Paul Rosell and I am sorry to say LRB.
I had real hope for LRB. Hesheit was occasionally creative. A trait Coulter, Hank, and Paul do not share.
JR,
I don’t really expect Hank (or Paul) to provide facts, or links. I realize that they’re unable to support delusions.
And thanks for the insights. I wonder what they’ll believe when global warming, peak oil, and many other dire realities become undeniable in a few years?
“Marian Carr Knox told the Dallas Morning News after viewing copies of the disputed memos, ‘These are not real,’ and that ‘the information in here was correct, but it was picked up from the real ones.’ ”
And the White House never denied the above, only that the “font” was wrong and never that the content of the letter was.
The story around the story was made more important than the story. Exactly what the spinmeisters wanted, and the public fell for it! Their gullibility is insatiable.
cosmos,
Your links petty much made my point for me.
Ann didn’t say everyone was wearing T-shirts with obscene words, just a few.
Hank
Also cosmos,
JR’s post is a perfect example of how he twists people’s words to fit his biased world view:
“Let me enlighten you further. Hank has in the past posted that he opposes the 19th Amendment giving women the right to vote. He is also disappointed that we are not prosecuting a war of aggression to seize and hold the entire middle east to take their oil because we need it. If you monitor other threads you will find that Hank is also a literal creationist and thinks the Earth is only 6,000 years old.”
My opposition to the 19th ammendment was satirical. JR jumps on it with his usuall lack of humor.
I’ve never been for “a war of aggression to seize and hold the entire middle east to take their oil because we need it.” I have no idea where he got that idiotic statement. I do believe that we are in the Mid east because of oil, but it is a very complex subject, we are in Iraq because it was a terrorist state.
And I really don’t think my savation depends on my understandinding of the age of the earth. It may be as old as 8000 years, or maybe 10,000 years.
JR on the other hand believes that carbon 14 dating can determine the age of fossils…which is a scientific impossibility. He believes that a grade school cartoon proves evolution.
He confuses my faith with stupidity but refuses to support his childish beliefs with scientific facts. He thinks Al Gore is a source of infomation on global warming for heaven’s sake!
But I’m the nut! Go figure!
Hank
Hank,
“Ann didn’t say everyone was wearing T-shirts with obscene words, just a few.”
She didn’t say “T-shirts”. Where does she say or imply “just a few”?
Coulter: “My allies are the ones wearing crosses or American flags. The people sporting shirts emblazoned[sic] with the “F-word” are my opponents.”—-The Spinsanity, DailyHowler, CJR, etc links DO prove her books are inaccurate.
Carbon 14 dating is scientifically valid.
Al Gore gets his information from peer-reviewed scientists worldwide, such as at http://www.ipcc.ch If you haven’t read their reports, don’t criticize them, or Gore.
“Carbon 14 dating is scientifically valid.”
Not for fossils!
Gore picks and chooses his sources to fit with his political ambitions.
Oh, and by the way,
“I want to check your “opinion” that all the Dem’s there are wearing “shirts emblazened(sic) with the “F-word”"
Where does she say that “all the Dem’s”?
Hank
Yikes !
I think ya hit a nerve cosmos. Hank seems a bit reactive! Probably he shoulda stopped with
“But I’m the nut!”
Now you people can bitch and moan about poor little Ann, but Ben Franklin once said;
“The sting of any criticism comes from the truth it contains.”
I would suspect the hatred for Ann comes not from her ‘lies’, rather from the truth of her work!
Hank
I find little of what Coulter spews even REMOTELY resembles the truth.
Then again, the current Republican pundits repeat the same lies over and over and over………….no wonder they think what the skank says is the truth.
Yea, the poor ol’ skank Ann, absolutly less credible than the intellectual darlings of the left, Al Frankin and Michael Moore!
And a whole lot nastier than the hero of the Clinton apologists, James Carvill! (She may be nasty, but she is funny and the republicans are not using her as a campaign advisor!)
Hank
Maybe she should run for the State BOE! She’s no more unqualified than anyone else.
Hank: “Where does she say that “all the Dem’s”?”
Her “opponents” are not all the Dems at the “Spawn of Satan convention”?You claim she said that “just a few” are wearing ‘F-shirts’. Do you REALLY want to argue that most of the Dems there are her “allies”, “the ones wearing crosses or American flags”?
Hank: “Gore picks and chooses his sources to fit with his political ambitions.”
And oddly, you seem to believe that CO2, methane, HFC’s, etc have “political ambitions”.Oh well… you’re responsible for your opinions.
Hank, how does the Benjamin Franklin quote prove the “truth” of Coulter’s work?
What would Franklin say if he used Lexis-Nexis to check her book, and found many errors, like http://www.dailyhowler.com/dh072302.shtml did?
A strong democracy requires informed citizens. Unfortunately, much of our media is dysfunctional, and too many citizens are gullible, and/or lazy.
Thomas Jefferson is appropriate, ‘Educating the People’http://etext.virginia.edu/jefferson/quotations/jeff1350.htm
His quote proves nothing. It merely points out that the reason liberals are so upset by her is because of the truth in her statements, not is the relatively few errors in her facts.
Along the same line, I’m not upset a bit about Michael Moore’s and Al Frankin’s nonsense. It is not based in the truth!
Hank
Hank,
You seem to believe that Ben Franklin, after studying http://www.anncoulter.blogspot.com/ would say Coulter’s books, and columns like ‘Spawn of Satan convention’ contains the “truth”.I strongly disagree.
Dear cosmos,
Do you intentionally miss the point? Or are you just dense?
It’s a quote. The point of the quote is that people don’t get upset by the criticism that is a lie, only the truth.
That is why there are 10,000 websites against Ann and only 4 against Michael Moore.
Hank
Dear Hank,
You seem to have missed my points. Coulter’s books do NOT stand-up to fact checking. Ben Franklin would not consider her work the “truth”, which means that his quote does not apply.
Hank: “The point of the quote is that people don’t get upset by the criticism that is a lie, only the truth.”
You ignore the fact that people DO get upset by lies, especially when those lies are used to support invalid opinions. If someone spreads false criticism about you, don’t you get upset, and try to correct it?
Is your Franklin quote accurate? Google only has 2 hits, at self-help websites.
I beg to differ Hank. When I ran for office I did not get upset at legitimate criticism; only at the lies that came from the Rightie group GodArchy. So, in your example above people recognize that Coulter is a liar and Moore tells the truth.
Dear Ben,
The quote is:
“The sting of any criticism comes from the truth it contains.”
I too have run for office. (I actually hold a public office now, but it’s not the one I’m referring to.) I ran in the primary in ‘92 and ‘94 in western Sedgwick county for State Representative. You will find this hard to believe, but I wasn’t conservative or Christian enough to win the primary!
I to was upset by the fact that a few imaginative things were said about me, mostly from the NEA, but where I was running negative comments from the teacher’s union was a plus!
I would reccommend that every one at sometime or another run for office! It’s very educational!
Back to the quote; in your case it seems the fact that you were lied about upset you, it didn’t ’sting you’. In other words, if you were a racist and it became public public knowledge while you were running for office, that would hurt you worse than someone calling you a racist with no merit or facts to back it up.
Hank
My what a spirited debate you all have going!
I once said that the sting in any rebuke is the truth. That said I’m rather aghast to have my words used to further an arguement for this rather odd woman….. Ann Coulter is it? … whose likeness is at top.
I fear a bit to see her. I had hoped that so far into the republic we gave you, conditions would favor folks being better fed. Has this young woman been ill?
I also said that honesty is the best policy. From the links that you cosmos….. is it? …Such names anymore! From the link you provided I find this woman to be quite deficient in honesty. She rather reminds me of something else I once mused. That being “What is a sundial in the dark?” I fear this woman and the truth are as separate from each other as night is from day with only that dim time inbetween to know one another!
So I think that there is little rebuking sting in this woman or anything she has to say. In matters of truth she seems less the hornet and more the fly!
I also said once that a man wrapped up in himself is a small bundle. This young woman risks reducing herself to less than one could see!
Dear Mr. Franklin,
I’m afraid that you have been misled with only one side of the story! You would be very disapointed in the two party democratic political system that has evolved from the republic that you and your fellow statesmen risked your lives and good names to give us! They are actually teaching our children in public school that we are a democracy!
Ann Coulter is a harmless little lady that is a pundit in the same way Poor Richard was. If you knew the immoral character of the political idiots that she writes about you would enjoy her work. I’m sure your remarks about our current leadership (democrat and republican) would be even more harsh and scathing than hers!
I’m a little disapointed in you sir, in that you have seemed to have made judgement on the good lady after listening only to her critics.
Hank
Dear Hank,
If you don’t want confusion between “sting” and “upset”, don’t start it yourself.Your 2:37 PM post: “The point of the quote is that people don’t get upset by the criticism that is a lie, only the truth.”
Legitimate criticism can cause embarrassment, or “sting”. Bogus criticism, like Coulter’s, causes anger, upset, and a desire to correct the falsehoods.
Dear Mr. Franklin,
Is the quote Hank refers to yours? It only appears twice on Google.
I that this was very clever (and appropriate) about Coulter:
H. L. Mencken once responded to a question asked by many of his readers: “If you find so much that is unworthy of reverence in the United States, then why do you live here?” His answer was, “Why do men go to zoos?” Sadly, Mencken is not here to ogle the newest creature in the American Zoo: the Bleached Flamingo, otherwise known as Ann Coulter. This beast draws crowds by its frequent, raucous calls, eerily resembling a human voice, and its unearthly appearance, scrawny and pallid. (Wikipedia notes that “a white or pale flamingo … is usually unhealthy or suffering from a lack of food.”) The etiolated Coulter issued a piercing squawk this spring with her now-notorious book, Godless: The Church of Liberalism. Its thesis, harebrained even by her standards, is that liberals are an atheistic lot who have devised a substitute religion, replete with the sacraments of abortion, feminism, coddling of criminals, and–you guessed it–bestiality. Liberals also have their god, who, like Coulter’s, is bearded and imposing. He is none other than Charles Darwin. But the left-wing god is malevolent, for Coulter sees Darwin as the root cause of every ill afflicting our society, not to mention being responsible for the historical atrocities of Hitler and Stalin….
https://ssl.tnr.com/p/docsub.mhtml?i=w060731&s=coyne073106
This lady (I use this term VERY loosely) is plain NUTS!
Dear Hank,
(you posted to Mr. Franklin)”I’m afraid that you have been misled with only one side of the story!”
Why don’t you help him by providing links giving the other side? The links proving that she’s really a honest, thorough, and accurate journalist. That explain her government, religious, etc viewpoints…
And some photos of the 2004 Dem Convention, showing all of them (except her “allies”) wearing ‘F-shirts’.
Dear Mr. Franklin,
It has been sugested that I post a link to the “other side”.
I have something better, an extra copy of her book. If you are in heaven, I’ll bring it to you, if not I’ll send it with cosmos.
Hank
Hank,I read Ann Coulter regularly, and came to my own conclusion that her only point is in making both money and a name for herself. Her conclusions concerning Liberals are so way out of line as to be placed in dime store fiction novels. You know; the ones no one buys and end up in dollar general?
But call them political realities, and the gang of reactionaries, otherwise known as TFM, rush out to savor the nonsense. They are the same people who can’t wait for the latest national inquirer, or the next Jerry Springer show. Their collective IQ runs to the negative, and their family trees roots died from lack of nutrition. Their God is anyone who promises a better life if they send in $5 for a prayer card, provided the $5 doesn’t preclude them buying the lotto ticket for Wednesday’s drawing. A new car is one not on blocks, and their home is a double-wide; the double-wide being two pickups welded together.
See: I can write about the neo-cons with the same verve Ann reserves for Liberals. The difference being, my words are true.
Dear JM,
NO FAIR! You’ve been to my house! You’ve described me to a T!
Hank
Ahh Time and how the dust of it covers my memory.I believe the quote to which you refer was “The sting in any rebuke is the truth” Surely I wrote it down somwhere. It is no doubt applied in as many spirits as it is formations of words!
I think you Mr. Price were attempting to lend credibility to the writings and activities of Miss Coulter was it? Yes I think it was your intent to convey by words of mine that Miss Coulter is controversial because she makes some see themselves in an uncomfortable light. That their issue with her is within themselves.
Truth? It is honestly difficult to tell. I don’t pay the attention to the country that I suppose I should. But perhaps I’ve earned that rest. My words at least seem to survive me….in one form or another! You are probably correct in some ways Mr. Price. I would likely not understand the nuance of issues the country has today. “liberals” “conservatives” probably would have as much meaning for me as “whigs” would to you! I have found that “truth” is often true as far as the end of one nose. I am honored that this or that idealogical group of the day would claim me as one of theirs. Though I’m not informed enough to know if I should feel so honored. In the case of Miss Coulter, truth does not seem the pursuit. A colleague of mine John Adams was something like this Coulter. But only in so much as he was obnoxious and disliked! John was idealistically loud. I think Miss Coulter is more loudly idealistic if you take the distinction. Miss Coulter’s real pursuit seems to be the acquisition of attention and and perhaps an attention to acquisition of the same. Her message is less “hear what I am saying” and more “hear me that is saying it”.
I could be mistaken.
cosmos you are a dogged one! I’ll second your call to Mr. Price. Perhaps if I had an example of a better measured message from this young woman, I could better measure the messenger. It is difficult to understand one so loudly “screaming” if you will.I know something of women. I’m indeed fortunate perhaps that in my day, ones personal life was less the matter of public knowledge! I even wrote as a woman for a time. Much of the power of a woman if you will is in her charms. Miss Coulter would seem to be deliberately UN charming. AND she’s a damned lawyer?—–
Dear Mr. Franklin,
Thank you for providing your actual quote: “The sting in any rebuke is the truth”.
Since Mr. Price is unable to provide his “other side”, perhaps you would enjoy reading some of her quotes?http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Ann_Coulter
Ann Coulter was griping about the 9-11 widows using their plight to make money or careers or whatever. But by making an issue of it,she`s using them to further her career ,just as she is with Clinton. There`s something to be said about people who are so extremely vitriolic. One could argue that Coulter subconciously wants to have sex with Clinton!
Hank,Damn, I knew I’d run into that person somewhere:-)
