Just tell me, why in hell would I want to vote against these bastards who want to keep my very high taxes down.

That would be like shooting myself in the head.

I have a friend in California that has a much nicer house that pays less tax because of prop 19.

I am all for TABOR since those who represent use don’t really care about us.

And, btw, all lowering the taxes in topeka means is raising the taxes at the local level. I dont think my county can afford it if the state lowers my taxes again.

Easy to give a tax cut on biz equipment when it is a LOCAL, not state revenue source. I dont mind giving YOUR money away either, hehehe. THAT is about as leftist as it gets.

And I am saying this as one who owns several small biz operations. I cant afford any more of your damn state and national tax cuts.

Of course I know grover and the boyz want to force the taxes lower at the local level too so as to make gov smaller and strangle and drown it in the bathtub.

But ya know, when it comes to hospitals, roads, schools, law enforcement, all the things we generally consider essential services, the buck stops at the local level.

You can only cut these “inelastic demand” services so much before quality of life declines and a community economic downspiral occurs. The first result is less population which then results in fewer people paying taxes, which then results in even HIGHER taxes per individual, and well, you get the picture.

Note to governor candidates, and legislators, both state and national. Pay your own god damn bills and quit forcing the counties and cities to pick up the tab while you high five each other on hold the line on taxes.

    jesus wept.

And, god help me while I am on this rant, I actually agree with grover and the boys about strangling government in the bathtub.

I think as americans and kansans we have proven we cant govern ourselves for the common good. Our government is for sale to the highest bidder and the meanest sob on the block. And we use a little of that old time religion as the opening act for the stripper just for entertainment.

Yes. I think making the government as small as possible is a good thing. Not because “government is inherently good or bad. Nope. Because the government is only as good as the people it governs want it to be.

Clearly, we dont want good government.

So my willingness to give the government a permanent dunking in the tub comes not from financial concerns or lower taxes.

It comes from the sure but sickening knowledge that I cant trust my neighbors to cast a responsible vote.

Given a choice, they seem to choose the most hateful, ignorant and selfish bastards they can find, and then support ‘em like they were christ.

No matter how much destruction is caused.

Please. Let grover and I take the government to the bathroom.

You are so deep, kfg. Running a tree hugging, free loving, clothes optional, teeth optional, dope smoking universalist church out there on your subsidized farm, are ya? Common good? Looking at Wiki really helps. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Common_good NOT!!!

No wonder you can’t trust anyone:)

Note the R after every single person on that list up top.

Yup the GOP is CLEARLY the party of those who got it gettin’ more AND keepin’ it.

Get the taxes up I say. Call the bluff on these corporations demanding tax ababtements “or we may have to move!” Make em pack up or shut up.

    ID?

Is camp Dittos out for the summer?

kfg runs a restaurant, a farm, and an organic produce biz. She is also very active in her community and in politics for her region and the state on social, economic, and environmental matters . She is currently working to help revitalize a small wester Ks. town and STILL manages to find time for the local church potlucks. And I’m sure I missed something. She is also a damned fine human being.

    And you?

How deep are YOU up against that buttercup? You aint any deeper than Rush Limbaughs list of talking points. And your concept of the “common good” no doubt does not extend beyond your noses reach up Rush’s ass. YOUR common good is just that; what is good for you.

You wanna trash my friends you better bring some of your own. Oh that’s right. Ya aint got any. Maybe you can buy one or hire one. Failing that, back off. Go back to Rushisms, it’s what you’re good at.

And oh, BTW. I’ll put up my community involvement against anyone, inlcuding you. You won’t ever see me though, because I support those organizations that teach self actualization skills.

Against the idea of “common good”, but favor — “those organizations that teach self actualization skills.”

Provide some examples, please. Also, if you can, explain how teaching self-actualization skills would be contrary to the idea of the common good.

To me, teaching a man to fish, rather than giving him a fish, promotes the common good. If our fishing student, then teaches another to fish . . . it perpetuates. I wondered if you were making a distinction without a clear difference here.

    “We’re taking her [Landwehr] down.”

I would like to see that happen. I have often wondered given that Brenda is so committed to the TABOR mission how she would even have time to be concerned about any of her constituents other issues.

    Posted July 20, 2006 at 7:31 pm | Permalink

    Tony,

You know why Brenda unleashed the F-Bomb? Joan Pottorff was asking her about the budget, Brenda took that question as a personal criticism, and then went off on her fellow Wichita representative.

Her act was somewhat excused by the WE as being related to the stress at the end of a legislative session. Her response was clearly in marked excess to the provocation (if you can even call it that). It demonstrated what an out of control person Landwehr is.

So, the issue was not just about using colorful language. It involved more than that.

Many, if not all, of us have used less than ideal language. But hopefully most of us don’t go ballistic when someone asks a simple non-threatening question.

Actually Raj Goyal is running against Bonnie Huy, not Brenda Brenda Landwehr.

He stands a very good chance to beat her also. I know Raj somewhat personally and I’m supporting him.
