The Rolling Stones, coming soon to Wichita, have received a lot of gibes about being too old to rock. Nonsense. Some of us aging boomers still have the mojo working. As Keith Richards has said, people like the band’s music — they’re good — and they love playing. What’s the problem? As I argue in my column, the geezers are all right.

Nothing wrong with geezers.I’m geezing right now and it’s great!
Keep in mind kiddies, us geezers gave you Rock n Roll. We’re the ones who started the rebellion.
I like old geezer music. They got it right.:)
Joe, stop it! You know I can’t stand it when we agree!;)
“Now he’s too old, old oldto rock-n-roll, roll, rollBut much too young to die!”
Jethro Tull
Being serious for a moment, I remember in the late 80’s/early 90’s when classic rock radio spread like a disease, and a lot of good music–new and old–was being ignored.
These days radio, thanks to media ownership consolidation, radio is even MORE boring (IMHO), but a lot of it is boring new music by young artists (played over and over and OVER), so those unfortunate youngsters who can’t get Internet radio have less to complain about! :)
Just My Opinion®.
Too Old? Anyone complaining about a ROCK band being too old should thank the Stones profusely for breaking ground. I don’t want to be relgated a rocking chair when I turn 60, and the Stones are proving it is not necessary! Eventually, these ‘kids’ will thank the Stones!
More power to them!!
I like the Stones, and my one big fear is that when I get as old as JM or Hank, that I’ll still be able to understand it and not drool!
Drool? Me and Hank drool? Soon as I get me a dry towel, I’m gettin’ me some revenge!
::smacks gster::
JM- You might be interested in my “geezer sopper”. It’s sort of a cross between a harmonica holder around the neck , and a large sponge. I’m thinking of 2 and 4 spoonge refills. It would free up the user’s hands.
Whadda ya think?
OK I drool a little but I’m married to a much younger woman and she keeps my chin wiped off.
Hank
I have a LONG time to plan, but I guess I’ll go with a beard!
MAPLEWOOD, Minn. — Like most pastors who lead thriving evangelical megachurches, the Rev. Gregory A. Boyd was asked frequently to give his blessing — and the church’s — to conservative political candidates and causes.

Gregory Boyd’s Sermons (mp3)’Taking America Back for God?”The Difference Between the Two Kingdoms”Abortion: A Kingdom of God Approach”Is the Church the Guardian of Social Morality?”Be Thou My Vision”In But Not of the World’More SermonsThe requests came from church members and visitors alike: Would he please announce a rally against gay marriage during services? Would he introduce a politician from the pulpit? Could members set up a table in the lobby promoting their anti-abortion work? Would the church distribute “voters’ guides” that all but endorsed Republican candidates? And with the country at war, please couldn’t the church hang an American flag in the sanctuary?
After refusing each time, Mr. Boyd finally became fed up, he said. Before the last presidential election, he preached six sermons called “The Cross and the Sword” in which he said the church should steer clear of politics, give up moralizing on sexual issues, stop claiming the United States as a “Christian nation” and stop glorifying American military campaigns.
“When the church wins the culture wars, it inevitably loses,” Mr. Boyd preached. “When it conquers the world, it becomes the world. When you put your trust in the sword, you lose the cross.”

Hank, quit bragging, you lucky dog!
That kind of thing (younger women) will be the death of you.
I must admit, the best music came from the baby boomers!!!!Rock and Roll will never die!!
Rock ain’t my bag. Give me Hank Williams or Wagner any day.
V.L.R.B!!
I imagine the RW’s will be trying to Dixie Chick the Stones’ concert since his song calling Bush a hypocrite. I sure hope they do.
Ian-In your case, it’s not a bag , it’s a purse with matching shoes! And it’s a manly sight you make!!Haaaaaaaa….. You’ve found your niche!!
No one can touch the Stones. Those who would disagree with their view of George Bush probably can’t afford to go see them anyway..Ha!!
I’m going to see the Chicks in Dallas right before the Stones concert, just hope I can get tickets to the best concert Wichita will ever see!!!
“That kind of thing (younger women) will be the death of you.”
I humbly volunteer for the mission if you men are afraid….
heheheheheheheh
BRING IT ON!
